Yelp
My family and I were attracted to this restaurant because of Houston Restaurant Week. We looked at the HRW menu online, and it looked intriguing. We made a reservation for 6:00 pm. and arrived at the restaurant. While looking at the HRW menu again, we made some calculators and realized that ordering off the restaurant's main menu was cheaper. In addition, you get more choices. Overall, the service here was excellent, and the food was good as well. If I'm ever in downtown Houston again, I would consider going here.
Starters:
Beef Tartare - Beef tartare is always a favorite of mine, and this one was one of the best ones I have had. The beef was super high quality and seasoned nicely. Mixed with capers, red onions, celery leaf, whole grain mustard, and a quail egg topped on toast, it's absolute heaven. Out of the three starters we ordered, this was for sure the best one.
Yellowfin Tuna Crudo - This crudo wasn't bad, but it didn't surprise me in any way. It's nothing special, but it still tasted decently good. The puffed wild rice gave texture to the dish, and the tuna had a nice bite to it. Even though this dish was good, I feel like they could've been more generous with the black garlic vinaigrette.
Korean Bacon - Out of the whole restaurant, this was the dish that attracted us the most. This dish comes with three pieces of pork belly, but only 2/3 were tender, soft, and melted in your mouth. Overall, the portion size of this starter is pretty small, but the flavors of the gochujang barbecue sauce mixed with the pork belly, kimchi, and cucumber in the bao bun was exceptional.
Pastas:
Short Rib Pappardelle - The cook of the pasta was excellent, and it had a nice bite to it. The short rib was soft and tender, but the dish was lacking in sauce. In addition, there could have been more cheese on top for my liking.
The Nash Favorites:
The Nash Hot Chicken - I am a sucker for hot chicken, and was super excited to see this on the menu. When first biting into this sandwich, I was disappointed. There was too much bun to chicken ratio, and the chicken wasn't very spicy nor crispy. There also wasn't enough pickles, but the fries were super crispy and crunchy! The whole Brian honey mustard was also very tasty with the fries.
Steaks & Chops:
Flat Iron - Requested the cook on the flat steak to be medium-rare, and they absolutely nailed the cook on it. However, it wasn't seasoned enough, and the chimichurri on top of the steak sadly couldn't make up to it. On the menu, the dish includes truffle aioli and Parmesan truffle fries, but my family and I couldn't taste any truffle flavor in either.
Desserts:
Chocolate Banana Cake - The combination of the creamy vanilla gelato, rich chocolate cake, crunchy milk chocolate namelaka, and the caramelized banana was extraordinary. The cake was moist, and I would order this again in a heart beat. I didn't see or taste the banana curd listed on the menu, but it didn't bother me since it still taste good.
Brandied Orange Crème Brûlée - Crème brûlées are my absolute favorite dessert, I had to order this! My sister who doesn't like oranges liked this dessert, so that has to say something! It was smooth and silky, with a slight orange and brandy flavor, so delicious! The whipped cream wasn't too sweet, so it had the perfect balance!
