"Nauti Mermaid, a "crab-centric" restaurant, will open in Old City this Friday, July 6. The new eatery, from Jolly Weldon and Amy Tommarelli, is located right under Weldon’s Jolly’s Dueling Piano Bar at 110 Chestnut Street. It takes the space that was previously Eagles player Brent Celek’s Prime Stache. Damian Tarlecki, who’s from Maryland, is signed on as executive chef. He’ll be bringing the Maryland shore to Philly with blue crabs, soft and hard shell crabs, and snow crabs, plus she crab soup, fried soft shell crab sandwiches, crab cakes, crab cocktail, and a Nauti Blue Boil with blue crabs, shrimp, oysters, sausage, potatoes, and corn in a spicy cioppino broth. If that’s too much crab, go for the fried or grilled rockfish, the ham, or the pork cheek nachos. Oysters also make an appearance during happy hour, when they’re a buck each. Dishes range from $8 to the low $20s. To drink, there are a few variations of a fruity frozen cocktail called the Nauti Crush. Beers on tap are local and, in keeping with the theme, from Maryland. The bar also has wine on tap. Weldon first came to Philly 20 years ago to open the Prime Rib. In the early 2000s he moved on to piano bars, running several throughout the city. The Jolly’s in Old City is new — it opened in April. For now, Weldon is planning on dinner only at Nauti Mermaid. Brunch, lunch, and late-night service will be added later, after the restaurant settles in." - Rachel Vigoda

I stopped in for happy hour with a group of friends and really enjoyed myself. I like that their happy hour is 3 hours (4-7pm) instead of only two like most places. There are more food specials than drink specials so this is the place to go if you’re hungry. When I visited Miller Lite, house wine and the Mermaid Crush were the only happy hour drink specials. For food I tried the mussels (delicious garlic sauce and a nice sized portion, great presentation), the fried oysters (I like raw oysters so this was interesting. They were good but I wouldn’t get them prepared that way again). My friends tried the raw oysters and fried shrimp and enjoyed them both. The drink service was slow but the bartender was working very hard. A bar back probably would have been helpful. The food came out of the kitchen very quickly. I may come back for dinner one day.

Delicious food, she crab soup was fantastic. Quaint little restaurant with decent lighting. Went on a Saturday afternoon and just the restaurant area was open. There is a bar that opens at 4 pm. They have a happy hour during the week with special prices for drinks and beer. Food is very fresh and cooked quite well

This place was great. Highly recommend the she soup and it's huge! We split one of the boil pots, crabcakes, and she soup and highly recommend all of them. Sunday nights are open mic and their hostess has a great voice! Otherwise the mic was a group of old women singing random old songs no one knew which wasn't my favorite 😂.

Well went there today. Had the special of the day which our rice was given cold had to send it back. Then they charge refills for sodas and won't modify the items on the menu as in can't substitute one side for another side. I was actually excited by looking at their online menu but when i got there i was very disappointed with the dishes... However the service was great everyone was friendly and everything was clean. Would only go for the bottomless crabs if that.

I hadn't been able to sit and go in hard on some crabs all summer (working). So my girl invited a few of us to go to her spot and eat. It was awesome!!! The crabs were delicious, served warm and fast. The staff was great and the drinks were awesome. It was my first time there and I cannot wait to go back. Well worth it!!! Oh and the creamy crab soup is a must with oyster crackers.

I loved THIS place. I wanted to Go here for a while and I finally got there. It was $2 crab night and let me tell you I ate quite a few crabs. The $2 shrimp and the Old Bay fries we're so good. The bartenders were great the hostesses went great. The chef oh my God so nice even brought out food out himself over and over. I'm going back on Monday with two friends and they are going to love it also. I give them 5 stars and they deserve each and every one. Go please go you would love it

Great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Crab cakes are great and so are the fish and chips—more like fried fillets than typical batter fried but really delicious and fresh. It was a very busy night so we sat at the bar. Recommend reservations if you want a table. Even with such a busy night the staff was really friendly and welcoming.
