Where to Eat in Tucson, Arizona's Desert Jewel | Bon Appétit

"Whenever friends ask me where to take out-of-towners, I point them to this cozy neighborhood restaurant. While the menu features influences ranging from Japan to the Levant, the flavors are distinctly Tucson thanks to the mesquite-fire-centric kitchen and hyper-local ingredients..." - ByJackie Tran

Google
Really cool spot and one of the only sports bars downtown! Unfortunately, during TNF and before a big show, there was only a bartender to serve all the guests and 1 cook in the back. The bartender did an amazing job with all the food and drinks for dozens of people. Not sure what happened that night or if this was an abnormal occurrence, but management definitely made it rough for their staff that night.

Google
This downtown Tucson sports bar is an absolute gem and easily one of my favorite places to watch a game or just unwind. The atmosphere is energetic without being overwhelming, with plenty of TVs, a lively crowd, and that perfect neighborhood-bar vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service—especially Veronica behind the bar. She is not only beautiful, but incredibly friendly, fun, and genuinely attentive. She has a great personality, remembers drinks, checks in often, and makes everyone feel welcome the moment they sit down. You can tell she loves what she does, and it completely elevates the experience. The drinks are consistently excellent, whether you’re in the mood for a perfectly poured beer, a classic cocktail, or something a little more creative. Pair that with the tasty food—flavorful, well-prepared, and exactly what you want while watching sports—and you’ve got a winning combination. Between the great atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and standout service from Veronica, this sports bar is a must-visit in downtown Tucson. I’ll definitely be back again and again.

Google
This place is a true downtown neighborhood gem. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and full of character, exactly what you want in a local bar and restaurant. It’s the kind of spot where you can stop in for a quick drink or stay a while enjoying good food and conversation. The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the drinks were solid and well-crafted. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. A great go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. Definitely worth checking out.

Google
We could not really dance because the floors really needed repair. I mentioned a board not even screwed down and raised up they knew and were not that concerned .I was designated driver and my soft drink was all Ice ...I did get a free refill when I went to buy another. very young crowd..lots of stairs..nice view..most places to sit were marked reserved..I guess you have to pay more than the $10 cover if you want to sit down .Not a place I would recomend

Google
I popped in while visiting. My hotel was blocks away. This is a trendy local hangout. It was Karaoke Night when I visited. Good food and drinks. Festive, welcoming atmosphere too. I am going back to Tuscon this month and plan to visit this bar again!

Google
The Neighborhood Bar Downtown is a great local spot with awesome music, great food, and a fun, welcoming vibe. Vero is an outstanding bartender who truly makes you feel welcome — friendly, attentive, and great at what she does. Always a great experience here. Highly recommend!

Google
The Bar tenders did an amazing job!! 👍 Good was great thank you cook and the guy who brought out the food was very efficient. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Google
i wish i could add 0 stars. visited from denver for my birthday. went here to enjoy dinner. a girl dropped off chips with us thinking they are complimentary like other restaurants do. our server Veronica M came up to us and told us we have to pay for it because we “accepted” it. and was super rude. than we got our bill and it was more than our two drinks combined. she said that if we didn’t ask for “well” we would get the up charge for the liquor. it doesn’t say anything about it being non well liquor. wouldn’t recommend. super rude. definitely better places in this city to get drinks and some good grub.

Yelp
Love the micheladas with all the candy. It's super fun to enjoy (eat and drink) and they are always so flavorful. A must try at least once. The service at both locations is great.

Yelp
I came here for the first time a few weeks ago, and overall, it was just okay. The food and drinks were decent. I ordered the papas locas, which came out pretty quick and were actually tasty. The atmosphere was fun, just a little bit cramped. What really brought the experience down for me was the service. Our food was brought out without any napkins, and our server didn't check in on us at all during the meal. I ended up having to get up and go to the bar to ask for napkins, and even that took a while because the bartender was busy. It just felt like basic attention to the table was missing. It was a cool spot but with the staff not making it very welcoming, I'll probably just go somewhere else next time.

Yelp
Congress is in dire need of real sports bars. While nothing truly fills that niche, The Neighborhood's bombastic atmosphere is definitely worth checking out! What I loved: Blaring music, exceptional interior design, and expansive bar seating really lure you in. Every time I've ended up here, I have not had a bad time. It gets absolutely packed during big games, and there's a nice list of basic, casual cocktails. What needs work: Honestly, the food has never been good on any of the three occasions I've tried it. Will I keep ordering it? Yes, because it's good enough, and because drinking here is comfortable and trendy. If you want something that feels a little bit clubby, but accessible, this is your spot!

Yelp
More bar that restaurant with good Mexican music vibe. House margarita has some tequila in it. Had the mixed tacos sampler. Service at the bar was spot on. But, only the shrimp taco came out hot. The burrs and asada came out at room temp leading me to believe they were all pre made.
google avatar

Monica S.

Yelp
Tried this place a few weeks ago, the food was okay but the vibes were a 10/10. It's a cute spot to hang out and watch sports! The service was not bad or good. I would say it was just mid! But overall it was okay !
google avatar

Priscilla R.

Yelp
Wack ass food with wack ass service. Went to the restroom and came back to my food & drink threw away. Was still asked to pay for the items I didn't even finished :-)
google avatar

Darryl N.

Yelp
Just an update to my review. I just got wings for lunch, and they informed me that they reduced the 10 for $10 menu because they could not get several items done in ten minutes. The items are still available, but cost more and will take more time. The remaining items on the lunch $10 menu are Chicken Tortilla Soup, Wings and fries, Chicken Tenders and Fries, Burger Bowl and Hood Nachos. (Hope it wasn't my review that pushed the burger, tacos and burro off the menu)

Yelp
Possibly the worst "Sports" Bar I've ever been to. Left at halftime of the Warriors game 3 win over the Rockets. Our Uber driver told us we made a great choice leaving. Beer selection is embarrassing. Almost seems like whomever selects the beer knows absolutely nothing about beer. Horrible music. Horrible TV placement. Ridiculous flashing lights completely distracting from viewing the games. Only redeeming thing was the bartender/server that started when we got there around 5pm Saturday night. Basically it's a schizophrenic bar that cannot decide what it wants to be and has no business calling itself a "Sports" bar. Our uber driver dropped us at a real Sports Bar Rusty's on Grant just as halftime was ending & we got to see a great win.

Yelp
I had dinner here after an afternoon show at the Fox Theatre, which is a block away. The place is too loud. As for the food, I ordered the Taco-broso Combo ($15.99), which is a plate of three tacos. The tacos were OK but overpriced. Service was good.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
The shrimp appetizer alone would really be five stars! I've tried it once and loved it, but then returned and tried it again and it was very different, then tried it again during this visit recently and loved them again! This is a must order dish, but only on those good days. I also don't usually like mozzarella sticks but these ones were pretty tasty! I liked my appetizers more than my tacos. They weren't bad but I wish I could have picked my 3 flavors instead of having to choose the one combo selection they had. I wasn't a big fan of the fish one. The service was good at the beginning, but it felt lacking towards the end and we had to ask another staff member for boxes. The restaurant is decorated well and has TVs, giving a bar/sports lounge kind of vibe buuut maybe a step up from that. There's also a DJ, so you don't hear the sound to the TVs. Would I go here again? Sure. Do I have to? Not particularly, but would def for appetizers !
google avatar

Eric E.

Yelp
Worst restaurant in tucson arizona. Walked in. No customers were there was served a beer then sat for 35 minutes without any service jack in the box has better service
google avatar

Saunta A.

Yelp
I are here Wednesday night to watch the final basketball game. They have lots of huge TVs that are always playing sports. I ordered the mango habanero and lemon pepper wings. The wings are kind of smaller than I would've liked given how much they cost but they were good. I highly recommend the mange habanero sauce!! I also ordered a watermelon margarita which had lots of sugar and liquor just how I like it. On the weekends Lush, a fun lounge/club that plays mostly reggaeton, is on the rooftop. I'm definitely playing to come back to this bar again as it's downtown and has a fresher aesthetic compared to the original bar on the other side of town.

William O.

Yelp
This is an absolute disaster of a restaurant. Worst food and worst, most unprofessional service I've had in recent memory. A disgusting mop and bucket leaning up against the wall in the dining room, and staff that seem completely untrained in the restaurant/service business. If you're under 25, you might like the music. but Taco Bell has better tasting food. Stay away, and please GO away Neighborhood Bar.
google avatar

Kaela S.

Yelp
The cocktails here were incredible! I had a piña colada (on the rocks) and it was so creamy and sweet, I couldn't stop drinking it. If I wasn't already befuddled on arrival, I might have had a second drink (as this was the fourth and final stop of a Saint Patty's Day themed bar crawl)! We also ordered carne fries and they were fire, for lack of a better description. It was just what I needed to end the night. The service was super quick and they were so good about checking in on our table. I also love bars that play music but not so loudly that you can't hear the other people in your group, and this was exactly that kind of bar.
google avatar

Taylor H.

Yelp
The bartenders here are so nice and attentive! We love Morgan and Johan. They were super awesome to chat with and even asked us our favorite music and put it on for us!! Drinks were really good and atmosphere is soooo dope. Bathrooms were super clean and lit up with LED lights and cooo art. We will definitely be back!!!
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Good service and decent bar food! Great vibe! Nice place to go before a show at the Fox.
google avatar

Shawndrea T.

Yelp
Great food. Great service and great prices. The food was flavorful and the ambiance is amazing!!
google avatar

Erick D.

Yelp
Cool place and I've been to the original location. The food is good, but not consistent. The service is good for the most part, but I believe the Neighborhood has questions about it wants to be a Nightclub, restaurant, or sports bar? The drinks are good and a lot of cool decor.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
What a great place. The service was very attentive and our server made some great recommendations. Highly recommend the garlic parm fries! The fries were crisp and the sauce was so yummy!! Started out as a sports bar and turned into karaoke... and boy what incredible entertainment! Really fun!!
google avatar

Lynn V.

Yelp
Ambiance: It's a bar downtown with bumping music that sometime's a bit too loud. Go before the night crowd rush. Service: Efficient and personable. Pretty fast. Food: Honestly, I'm just here for the happy hour that's pretty unbeatable (ask about it! it's not advertised in the restaurant). $5 wings (6 pieces), $5 margaritas, and cheap loaded nachos that are basically a full meal. I can't speak for the rest of the menu that seems like it may be on the expensive side (the downtown tax is a thing) but the happy hour prices, sizes, and quality are pretty good value. Overall, I'd be back!
google avatar

Di C.

Yelp
Carmen took really good care of us. We decided to try out this restaurant/bar since we love to try new places when we are downtown. What a fabulous experience. We were not told it was happy hour until after we ordered. If we knew our initial order may have been different but we added on until we were sure everyone was full. The nachos were small but great flavor. The wings were freaky good and the tacos were really good. The taste of the marg was good but a lot of ice so it would take multiple to get a full drink. But... I've been to places that charged a lot more than 5 bucks and had the same amount of drink so.. not sure how this compares to non happy hour sizes. We will be back for the food and service.
google avatar

david h.

Yelp
Pretty standard drinks. House margaritas left a lot to be desired but the tacos were excellent. Quiet Tuesday night so not sure how the crowd is on a normal night. Young vibes. Get the tacos!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped into The Neighborhood late on a Sunday night to try out the place. Never been here but I wish we had tried it sooner! We sat in a booth near the back of the restaurant and ordered a couple of Hood-Rita margaritas for $12 each. I really didn't care for them. They were too large, and thus too watered down. I would really rather prefer just a well-made classic margarita without the fishbowl. Our daughter got a virgin Pina Colada and she liked it. We just wanted to dabble in a few things and ordered the Mexican Street Corn, the Tajin Lime Wings, and a Caramelo...and wow, everything was so good! The Tajin Wings are just insanely good and I've never had this flavor combination. The caramelo was simple but very good and the street corn was huge with four pieces. This would make a great appetizer for a group. Our service was exceptional and Joanna was really nice to talk to. Overall we really enjoyed this place despite the lackluster margs and honestly we can't wait to come back and try more food.
google avatar

Treasure S.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Food was amazing. I loved the wings. My husband loved the birria tacos. The atmosphere was fun and upbeat. Will be going back for sure. Truffle fries weee good but nothing I can't make at home! The wings are $5 for 5 during happy hour. Soooo good!

Sunny S.

Yelp
The food is good, atmosphere is good but it's silly to have one person running around taking orders, serving and making drinks. Janette was very sweet but poor thing was running around trying to do everything and it was busy. Also the happy is cool and all but if one person is doing everything, you can't even get your order. We sat around waiting for Janette to be available for about 10 mins and we couldn't get our order in until after 8 when happy hour ends. SMH...

Rosaline J.

Yelp
Food , service, ambience is great! It's too damn hot in there which is preventing us from frequenting as much as we use too. Want to give them 5 stars but can't because it's too hot in there

E L.

Yelp
Maybe you should plan a head and dot your I's and cross your T's so you don't look like morons. if you're going to have a watch party, and you are going to seat at a first come first serve basis, maybe you should disable your reservation service. Or have the balls to honor the reservation since it was YOUR mistake.
google avatar

Chelsey B.

Yelp
The food and drinks were delicious! I ordered the happy hour $5 nachos and added chicken to them for a little extra. They were very filling and flavorful. The green tea shot was wonderful. I also ordered the No Mames Margarita and was unprepared for how large it was (not a bad problem to have). The ambiance here was very pleasant. It was absolutely packed when I ate here and because of that, service was pretty slow. It wasn't a huge issue though and I still enjoyed my meal.
google avatar

Holly S.

Yelp
Was going to a concert, and decided to grab dinner before the show. The vibe here is different from the original Neighborhood...as it should be. Younger, brighter, dance music vibe here. Lots of bright signage with sports undertone. 5 or 6 TV's for sports. I ordered an OG burger with fries, and it was pretty good. I wish you could order your burger how you would like it cooked....as I would get medium . Prices are a bit higher here...6 dollars for a bottle of Corona, and limited draft.
google avatar

Kala J.

Yelp
Unplanned walk in and we honestly should've kept walking because it was sub par... Place was practically empty but the server was ok, pretty responsive. My friend and I both got tacos, me carne asada, nothing special with some rice which was an additional fee but not worth the extra $1.50. There was nothing Spanish about it, if that's what it was supposed to be. My friend got the queso fundido but she wasn't impressed either, didn't like the beans. It just wasn't what I thought it was going to be and I don't ever need to go back!

Stuart M.

Yelp
Big disappointment. 1 bartender and 1 server on a Sunday at 5 pm with events at the Fox and TCC plus street fair overflow. Completely unprepared for a crowd. Drinks were ok but food was super slow and not great. Table of 4...first and last $180 this place will see from me. Never been before and NEVER coming back.

Kevin C.

Yelp
I had a reservation scheduled for a Saturday for my birthday and they canceled it 2 hours before! Absolutely horrible service, they called to tell me my reservation "slipped through the cracks" and they had to cancel it due to a fight night. Mind you I scheduled it Monday and got a call 2 hours prior, maybe honor the reservation instead of inconveniencing your customers?
google avatar

Caitlin S.

Yelp
I just discovered The Neighborhood at an event earlier this month (thanks, Yelp Elite) and have been looking forward to a return trip. A friend and I stopped by during lunch today and had another great experience. They have 10 lunch specials for $10, and the portions are large and variety good (burgers, burritos, tortilla soup, tacos, salad and more.) I had the chicken nachos and my friend the papas locas. Lots of flavors and beautifully presented. We also shared the mojito shrimp appetizer, which was the star of the show. Perfectly cooked, flavorful and plenty of kick. And a nice portion (eight) of good-sized shrimp for the price ($11.) I really enjoyed my pineapple agua fresca, but they have award-winning micheladas, that are also great. The space is really funky- long and narrow with high ceilings- and the decor is bright and lovely. Lunch was busy, but our server was friendly and fast. I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Maiko K.

Yelp
My bf and I walked in there because I wanted to go to the club upstairs but it was still early so we decided to hang out at this place. The server was very friendly! We weren't planning on eating food there but my bf ended up eating chicken wings and they were actually super delicious!!!

Roberto H.

Yelp
I was drunk on Saturday and left with the wrong leather jacket so I took it back the next day and asked if I could look for mine in case they had the same heart as me. They girl at the bar said no, so I asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. I was shook as me and my friends have spent thousands of dollars on bottle service there so I just called all the bottle girls, the dj and the head chef (who quit and my favorite bottle girl cuz they apparently they don't treat them good). After everyone blowing her up she let me go up and look for my jacket (my truck keys were in there). And even tho I got my jacket it was just more extra then it had to be. Otherwise all the bottle girls, the dj's and security do an outstanding job and treat me and my friends like VIP

Jas V.

Yelp
Saw a waiter taking care of the tables all on her own and managing it very well, aside from that other girls were bothering her in the bathroom & as she tried to deescalate the problem, the girls tried getting her again outside & she maintained professionalism this whole time. She also brought the food out quickly.
google avatar

Sonya G.

Yelp
This was our first time here and Carmen made sure to explain and break down the menu questions we had. The food was on point as well as my mango margarita. The kitchen had a minor miscommunication on our food but they quickly fixed it and it was amazing. Definitely coming back for sure
google avatar

Duztin H.

Yelp
Awe we came back tonight with friends to get food and drinks. Your two servers/bartenders ignored us for over 20 minutes. We were the only table that had not been treated for more than 20 minutes. We noticed they were cleaning tables and doing dishes rather than even great us or bring us waters. We thought it was because it was close to happy hour being over, but we don't know. We are all in the service industry and understand when you get weeded, but this was not the case. We will never come here again, and tell others not to come either.
google avatar

Sofia G.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I went to the neighborhood to celebrate our friend's bday! We only went for drinks, we ordered an Arnold Palmer with alcohol, white claw trash can (I think), a strawberry margarita, and a couple other things I can't think of. The vibes are great, they play really good music. There is room for improvement in the service. We went on a Saturday at around 3pm and there weren't that many people but it took like 20mins to get our drinks. I did order a salad but they got it wrong so I asked to cancel my order.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Dropped in on a Saturday afternoon and was greeted by incredibly attentive, personable, friendly staff. My fiancé and I shared the Neighborhood Michelada which was a real treat. We further indulged in some corn, street tacos, and chicken wings...amazing flavors. We weren't at all distracted. The atmosphere is live and vibrant!

Jesus A.

Yelp
Be very careful when you pay for your drinks, the bartenders are scammers, by the way, yesterday I paid 30 dollars to enter that place dollars so that a girl rudely took us away because she wanted to clean a table, poor employees they think that because they work in a bar in downtown they think they are rich
google avatar

Jeovanna C.

Yelp
It a nice place with great service and ambiance. We went for lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. The drinks are really good! We loved the appetizers! The tortilla soup was way spicier than I expected. But all te rest was great! Will definitely go back!

Michelle H.

Yelp
The staff is amazing . Jeannette rocks it . This is our spot to have a Sunday funday or just hang with the girls

Gary G.

Yelp
Didn't care for this place at all. Apparently it was the bartender's birthday, so her friends or whoever decided to turn it into the loudest dance club I've ever been to. Pretty much the entire place other than her friends left immediately.
google avatar

Shel B.

Yelp
Tasty mechilada. Not sure the best as everyone states. I've had the best mechilada at Rosarito n yet to be beat. Now the food was super good. Tacos yummy but a little bit dry like birria needed the broth that's all
google avatar

Josiah G.

Yelp
This place is SICK, definitely one of the coolest bars in Tucson. Didn't try the food, but they have really good piña coladas and the staff is very friendly and professional. There's a spinning vintage bike that acts like a disco ball. Can't get better ambiance than that.
google avatar

Vane V.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Beautiful presentation. Beer and cocktails cold and flavorful! Great music...service excWe will definitely be back.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Met up with some family and friends on Saturday night. It was kind of busy but not crazy. When we walked in we tried to look for the people we were meeting but an employee stood in the entry way asking if they could help us. We said we were meeting people and they continued to ask us who as if they didn't want us to go in and find our group. Anyway we walked past them to our friends lol. The restaurant is decorated wonderfully. Not a huge location but it is a little smaller towards the entrance. The music was amazing. We loved the playlist or the dj. Didn't know which it was lol. I had the tamarindo mule and was so happy I ordered it. It was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the boneless wings hot. They had a perfect amount of sauce and were crispy even though they were saucy. The sauce has a great flavor and a very distinct peppery taste that is really unexpected in a good way. They are hot though so I don't recommend ordering hot flavor with chapped lips lol. The only downside was the service. Our waitress was so nice and such a pleasure but seemed stressed and overwhelmed with the amount of customers she had to serve. I asked for water 3 times and never received it. My sister ordered onion rings which never came and we had to reorder because we were told they went to another customer. Our drinks too a really really long time to be delivered to our table and we had to flag down our server to request anything. Then while watching the U of A vs. Indiana basketball game, someone changes the channel on ALL the tvs to find some pre show for a ufc fight. We had to go find someone to have our tv changed back. Service just seemed frazzled. But I loved the food and the drinks. Would be back for those when I'm in town again
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
Lauren was fantastic as our server and it may be the delicious margaritas I just had for happy hour, but my trio of street tacos were without a doubt the best tacos I've ever eaten. Atmosphere was great, Latin music, sports on TV and a super great vibe. Everyone was friendly and I'm leaving wishing I could eat here every day for the rest of my life. So glad we found this spot-- will def come back next time we are back in Tucson.
