The 22 Best Restaurants In Cape Town 2024

"Neighbourgoods Market—or “that market at the Old Biscuit Mill”—is the place to be on weekends, with a lively mix of vintage clothing stalls, a well-stocked bar, and dozens of food vendors selling everything from vegan cakes to steak sandwiches big enough to feed five. It’s a touristy spot, but the live music is fun and the food is genuinely good. Plan to come early if you want to avoid the crowds that roll in by noon." - bri cave

Cape Town Travel Guide - Vacation & Tourism

"A beautifully restored old biscuit mill couldn't be a more perfect setting for this farmers market open every Saturday. This is where shoppers find souvenirs that aren't mass produced. They're made by entrepreneurial locals selling everything from leather bags to soaps and sustainable fashions. Of course, there's also fresh seasonal produce and delicious street food." - Katie Jackson Katie Jackson Katie Jackson is a New York City-based writer who covers travel, food, and more. 14 Best Things to Do in Cape Town

"Neighbourgoods Market, in Woodstock, is a pioneering market for South Africa; since its inception in 2006, there's been a boom in markets taking over disused spaces in vibrant urban enclaves across the country. But Neighbourgoods remains the one to beat: There's a diverse range of food stalls from around the world, serving ostrich burgers to paella to dim sum, and local artisans sell their fresh jams, cheeses, and biltong (jerky) alongside. As you navigate the entire complex, with live musicians playing in the background, you'll also find a warren of stalls by emerging designers selling chic dresses, sunglasses, hats, and jewelry." - Sarah Khan

10 Best Food Markets in Cape Town

"Since September 2006, when the Neighbourgoods Market first opened at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, Saturday mornings in Cape Town have never been the same. It was the Neighbourgoods Market that helped boost the city’s crafty side by unveiling a platform for local vendors and a lively space in which the city’s residents could enjoy the fruits of the vendor’s labors. The Neighborgoods also helped pave the way for more artisanal weekend markets to come. Today, it continues to thrive with an ever-changing roster of merchants who produce everything from hand-crafted gin to leather goods, cheese, and churros. The market remains one of the city’s most popular, so our key advice would be to go early!" - Mary Holland

Honestly, one of the best places to go on a Saturday for some refreshing drinks, amazing food, local shopping and people watching. The variety of food options ranging from Mediterranean to various African cuisines to Spanish influenced dishes, fresh produce, hot sauces and desserts make this a worthwhile place to visit. They also have a DJ spinning great music to up the vibe of this market :)

Very good, plenty of options of food and drinks. It closes to early - hard to believe that at 4pm many of the shops are either closed or just selling the leftovers from the day. That’s a bit disappointing but at peak, it probably is a very good option.
