The New Uptown Cafe

Very good food, service, and atmosphere all around had a great 7 am breakfast on a Saturday. Parking was easy at the nearby ramp with a half block walk. The homemade caramel pecan roll (not pictured) was super good!! Great coffee :) Ribeye (6 oz) Benedict was perfect - large portion.

We had a great Sunday breakfast 🥞🍳🥓🧇. Our server, Mai, was excellent. It wasn't busy but I think that was because on the weather (-10F). Three of our group had the breakfast special. We had our choice of French toast, pancake or waffle. Each of us tried a unique option and all were happy with our choice. The pancakes were colossal! He got two pancakes with the #2 special and each was larger than a traditional plate. The country fried steak was good. The steak was nice and crispy. They had very good eye bread. There is no parking free close.

Only order one pancake, I promise it’ll be enough. Nothing to really write home about. It’s a nice cafe with good service, but the food was a miss for us for the most part. The fresh squeezed OJ was good (but $8 yikes) and eggs were decent. Pancakes were relatively flavorless on their own. The apple crumble one was then overboard. Husband said bacon was slimy.

Very nice, bright and airy Café. My pineapple upside down pancake was enormous (and really tasty). I only got the single pancake and was stuffed, even though I was famished when I arrived. I will be returning here.

Burger sandwich, waffle fries, and seasoned sour cream. Burger wasn’t my favorite but I am confident the food here in general is worth the five stars!

Decided to try breakfast here. The first thing I noticed were the prices, wow! $18 for 2 eggs, a meat, and hash browns?? All the meal options were in this price range, which seems crazy to me. We ended up ordering the skillet dish and the biscuits and gravy. The huge portions justify the high price, the portions are large enough to bring leftovers home, but I miss the days when a breakfast for 2 people didn't cost $60. The food was tasty and they server was nice. I probably wouldn't return here but I enjoyed my meal.

As soon as you enter this cafe, you experience the positive vibes from employees as well as the space that is well decorated. Our waitress was attentive and we got our nice and hot breakfast relatively quickly. I had the cajun breakfast and wow, it was a treat! I’d highly recommend it to anyone. My partner had one of the breakfast combos and really enjoyed it as well. Portions are big so well worth the money. I’ll definitely come back to this place!

Came in on a Friday for early lunch w a toddler and was greeted immediately by a friendly young man and served by a delightful lady. The food was excellent, fresh, flavorful, and piping hot. We had the Uptown Burger and Thomas the Train grilled cheese w fries. One of the servers even helped us out the door with the stroller. This is a finely tuned operation. We will be back. Often!! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

My daughter and I are always looking for a good breakfast place, searching found this cute place good decor clean service was good . The food I think is ok nothing outstanding flavors was also , the bacon was crisp which is nice the sourdough was very pleasant as well

It's a cute, spacious and the ac is kicking. Great break from the humidity. The service is so pleasant I'm here a second time after enjoying myself yesterday. The portions are huge. The menu is great quality diner food. Easy and affordable. I'm obsessed with the berserker style waffle. They also offer giant desserts to go. The caramel pecan roll is worth it, especially since the neighborhood is great for a digestion walk afterwards.

One of the best breakfasts I've had in the Twin Cities. It's a hike to get to with all the construction on West Lake Street.But it's worth the hike! I walked in around 7:30 AM and I was the first customer of the day.I was greeted with a smile by MAI my server. I asked her what her favorite breakfast meal was at The New Uptown Cafe' and was encouraged to go with the Spicy Cajun Benedict. This was a good referral,said" my belly".The house made andouille sausage was perfect.The hashbrowns were also made in house and the best hash browns I've had besides my own homemade browns.As you can see, there was also a lot of food.I was filled up for the day. The poached eggs, and Hollandaise sauce blended together and made harmony in my mouth.The freshly squeezed orange juice was the cherry on top of the entire meal.The bar seating was cozy and the restaurant was clean.I liked the booth area.At the front of the restaurant is window seating,however construction out on the streets makes it not interesting! I will definitely be back to try more of the menu items as soon as construction dies down. Thank you MAI for the good service. I'll be back!

My go to is the Fireman's Breakfast. The portions are huge and the food is delicious.

I got their French toast breakfast. Oh my God the best French toast I ever had very flavorful they serve a lot. Hashbrowns are really delicious and their coffee is so good. They serve big portions on everything.

Warmly greeted on arrival and very attentive staff. Enjoyed the Corned Beef Hash. I really liked how they fold the hash browns into the corned beef instead of having it on the side. A side of sourdough toast and coffee. Will be here once a month when I have to stay in the neighborhood all day. I thought there might be a wait when I arrived, but I was seated immediately and had my choice of tables or booths.

This used to be the Uptown Apple Store location. Then after a bunch of businesses left the area, I noticed this location for the Uptown Diner open up. Breakfast food is my favorite and the Uptown Diner definitely did the job. It was a brisk morning after I got my nails done and I strolled in here for a fix. The cornedbeef hash was HUGE. The Traditional corned beef was served with our famous house made hash browns and two farm fresh scrambeled eggs with cheddar cheese, along with bakery fresh toast. I was in shock at the portion size but was also so grategul. I can always appreciate generous portions. The booths are great and cozy, it created a great sense of coziness and privacy.

Misleading posted signage says open to 11, but they aren't actually, not in the sense this normally means for a sit-down restaurant. While I'm familiar with restaurants warning people who come in at 10-15 before closing that they've stopped serving or that they'll have to leave by 11, it's infuriating to find that a restaurant you've chosen *specifically because* it was recommended as a late-night option "open till 11" instead tells people coming in as much as 30 minutes ahead (after having driven across town) they can only order "to go." Not helpful, considering the whole reason we'd gone was to have a quick sit-down dinner *while looking up where TO GO* for the night before continuing our road trip. Online & posted signage would be more helpful with a asterisk or other disclaimer.

The indistinct yet loud sound system was piping some pretty terrible tunes and the menu was too big. We almost left to try another place. Glad we didn't! Our server was a real sweetheart and immediately started giving excellent service and help with recommendations. There were dietary needs at the table and this was taken very seriously by both the server and others present. Coffee quality was somewhere between typical greasy spoon mud and coffee shop. Passable. Now, all I can say about the food arriving is that all doubts flew out the window! While not a genuine Cubano as it wasn't heat-pressed, this thing was loaded. Pulled pork, nice slab of Swiss cheese, pickles, bakery bun, I'm forgetting like 3 things but trust me. Worth coming back for! so was everything (but the coffee really). Perfect French toast and the staff was even sweeter! Can't wait to return!!!

Great addition to the area! Food and service are great. Loved my eggs Benedict! The only negative is that they are pricey. Two breakfasts, one with OJ and the other with coffee; with tip was $50

A stinker. The catfish was way too salty. The eggs tasted like they were fried in week-old grease and the "fresh baked " bread tasted like it came out of a 2 day old plastic supermarket bag. Wish I'd returned it.

Nice interior. Clean and modern. Large variety of options. Food is good quality and well prepared. It's a bit pricey but understandable since Minneapolis isn't known for its cafes. Employees are friendly. I would happily and without second thoughts bring guests here. Definitely an above average and safe option. Would recommend.

The meat lovers omelette and Waffles fries is the best combo. This establishment puts Perkins to shame. The ambience and service is amazing definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys quality food.

Excellent service and great ambiance for a weekend brunch. The avocado toast looked 5-stars and tasted 3-stars, making my rating 4 stars. Totally fine, but the bread wasn't quite as toasty as I would like.

Awesome service,great atmosphere,CLEAN!!! Food is great, I love the biscuits and gravy, Super yummy and filling! I am a picky eater and very concerned with health standards I never have to worry about that when I eat here. Thank you The New Uptown Cafe!!!! Keep up the awesome work you do!!!

Uptown has changed a lot lately, but the Uptown Cafe serves the same classic breakfast favorites you'd expect. I really liked the crab cake Benedict.

I stopped in here to order takeout for breakfast and everyone was very friendly. The food arrived quickly and tasted great - the amount of natural light the space gets is a huge plus. I will be returning!

Check out this bright new space in the heart of Uptown! Breakfast is served all day, and they also have a nice selection of lunch items too. Sandwiches come with your choice of waffle fries, tater tots, or salad. I went with a Rachel sandwich with the tots. As you can see from the photo, portions are large enough that you will likely gave leftovers. Delicious food, and fast friendly service. There's easy to find free parking on the residential streets just a block or two off of Hennepin, or metered parking just around the corner.

Delicious food and friendly service. Delicious eggs Benedict and the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. Seats were comfortable and waitress was very friendly. Definitely will be back!

Awesome food!!!! Huge menu! Caramel rolls were amazing!! Server Andy was the best!!! Will be making this place a regular spot! Can't recommend it enough! Glad to have a place like this in the neighborhood!!!

Ordered the Cuban sandwich, they forgot the cheese, fries were really soggy, would not go back

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We met a lovely lady at the airport and she told us we had to come here! We are so happy we did, they had incredible food and service! Our lovely server (I can't remember her name!) but she had beautiful pink hair was extremely friendly towards a couple of out of towners.

This is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. Tommy and Mai are the best diner managers ever and all the waitstaff are so friendly and helpful. Anything on the menu is great but I especially love the fresh squeezed orange juice and Tommy's personal creations: the fireman's special and the chicken enchilada soup - either is an excellent selection for breakfast/lunch on a crisp, cold Minnesota morning/day!!
