Highlights

The Newsroom remains a guarded secret open only on Friday & Saturday evenings. To discover it, walk through the Station Lounge, reminiscent of a 1990’s NYC subway station. There, an unassuming newsstand discretely conceals the entrance behind Coke & Snapple refrigerator doors. With its exclusivity, reservations are highly recommended. Once inside, guests are spellbound by live aerialist performances starting at 8:30, setting the stage for the culinary artistry of Celebrity Yankees Chef Ricardo Cardona and his signature Latin - European fusion dishes. The Newsroom seamlessly blends mystique, entertainment, and gastronomy into unforgettable nights.

"We don’t want to give it all away, but there’s a new speakeasy in Long Island City that’s only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Look out for the sign for a "Station Lounge," and an “unassuming newsstand,” and you’ll know you’re in the right place. The aerial performances start at 8:30pm, so you should make your reservation for sometime around then. " - Will Hartman, Willa Moore

There is lot of buzz that this is the new speak easy "Hot" spot. So 6 of us went for dinner. We expected a cool vibe and good cocktails but we were blown away ..Food was amazing, service was top notch ..our server Omar is a real Pro. The venue is Amazing. There was live entertainment, dancers and singers. The best dishes was the Hanger steak , Branzino, seafood Paella, pizza and octopus. It's a very well managed operation, they created quite an experience for us. I really can't say nothing good things. You earned the 5 Stars

Nice cozy speakeasy in Long Island City. The service was great and the staff is very friendly. We went on jazz night and the music was good. The food is good for the price and the drinks are strong, not watered down at all. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and our waitress gave us free champagne and wine with a celebratory sparkly candle. I will definitely be back.

Google
Such a fun, sophisticated spot for a night out! The Newsroom is incredibly well managed, with wonderful, attentive servers and a great selection of food and drinks. The sliders and the chips & guacamole with a side of shrimp were super delicious. My favorite of their cocktails was The Front Page. They also have amazing entertainment on the weekends and themed events. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great experience and will be coming back!

Amazing speakeasy. Omar was our server and made sure we had the best time. Great drinks, food and music. Ask about the off menu cocktails. They are arguably the best ones.

Our visit to Newsroom was truly elevated by the outstanding service provided by our waiter, Omar. From the moment we were seated, Omar's professionalism and attention to detail were exemplary. Omar's friendly demeanor and genuine care for our satisfaction were truly commendable. He went above and beyond to ensure that we had a fantastic meal, and his warm hospitality made us feel right at home. Dining at Newsroom was a pleasure thanks to Omar's stellar service.

We went out for a girls night without even realizing that it was a speakeasy! It was such a nice surprise. The vibes were immaculate. I got the lychee martini- It was amazing! The Birria croquettes were also delicious. The hospitality was top tier. Our waitress, Maria, was also amazing. There is also live music. The singer had crazy vocals. Blew me away! I Can’t wait to come back :)

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner. Every person we interacted with was amazing. From the host at the door, to the talent, to our waiter Omar, to Santi who never let our water go empty , down to the other guests who for sure felt the amazing atmosphere. The customer service was top notch and very refreshing. & the food flavor matched! Would definitely recommend and we definitely come back! Very dope little hidden entrance behind the vending machine as well. Great experience!

Yelp
I'm deeply disturbed by the experience my friend and I had at this establishment. While enjoying what we hoped would be a pleasant evening of food and drinks, my friend was unknowingly drugged after being offered a complimentary drink by a man who seemed to be an employee. The symptoms she experienced afterward were alarming and indicate a serious breach of safety and trust. We immediately left the premises upon realizing something was wrong, but the fact that we were offered more alcohol as we were leaving is concerning and suggests a deliberate attempt to prolong our stay. My friend's well-being and safety were jeopardized, and it's unacceptable that such incidents can occur in a place with supposedly high reviews. I urge the management to take swift and decisive action to address this issue and prevent it from happening to anyone else. Patrons should feel safe and secure in your establishment, and it's imperative that measures are put in place to ensure their protection. I sincerely hope that steps will be taken to rectify this situation and restore trust in your establishment.

Yelp
Overall: HIGHLY recommend this place for any celebration or just a date. Great entertainment, food, and music. Food: the plates are small to medium size and are tapas style so they are meant to be shared. We ordered 3 rounds of empanadas (vegan, beef, chicken), paella, grilled octopus, duck, truffle fries, and the dessert flight. We also go a variety of drinks. The food was so fun. It was all kind of deconstructed. The duck was by far my favorite. It was so delicate and flavorful and paired so well with the rice (risotto?). The second fave was the octopus- it was tiny pieces on bone marrow. And you got handmade tortillas to use for tacos. The dessert flight included tres leches, flan, and molten lava chocolate cake - all phenomenal. Service: our waiters were amazing. Serving us, checking in, cleaning our table in between. Super professional and fun. It was my friend's birthday and the DJ came over to ask her name and music recs and then he sang happy birthday to her (and the other bday folks). Venue: chic and classic. It's dark and intimate with fun lights (but not crazy overwhelming lights). They had an acrobat dancing around a circle dangling from the ceiling to slow remixes of pop hits. Top notch place. Cannot be beat!

Yelp
Surprised to see this rated so highly as the food was mediocre and even on a Friday night when we went it was QUIET. Cool concept but needs development. The entertainment was disjointed.

Michael M.

Yelp
Claudia is amazing!! If you have never been to the Newsroom...run!! The atmosphere, service, food and drinks are superb and cannot be missed! I visited for brunch and will certainly be back in the evening for drinks and a show. Highly recommend and I'll be back

Yelp
Amazing time. Came here for my birthday dinner. The food was really good. Jazz night which was really nice to listen to the music. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had our drinks and it didn't take long for our meals to come out. If your able to secure booking, I would recommend "The Newsroom"

Yelp
I have been ranting and raving about this place since Wednesday. We came here for Valentine's Day & I was so impressed by their pre-fix menu. $89 a pop with a complimentary bottle of red or white wine but the food was wonderful! We had the mango shrimp guacamole & surf n turf taquitos as apps. My bf had the chicken for his entree and I had the duck over pork fried rice. Just blown away by how good it all was and the portions were perfect. Plating was beautiful. The dessert was also yummy and a great way to end the hearty meal. Small portions are the way to go for a decadent chocolate cake and the heart-shaped passion fruit tres leches cake was refreshing. The music in the restaurant was just the right volume and a collection of familiar songs remixed in a chill rendition. Absolutely loved it - as well as the hot girl in lingerie twirling about from the ceiling. The decor and art was also an awesome vibe. They even took complimentary pictures in the lounge area in front of the cool Coca Cola entrance. Overall, I would come back here in a heartbeat! So excited to try other things on the menu as well as their cocktails. I was beyond satisfied with the service, vibe, music and food. :)

Yelp
Friday 7:30pm Instagram did a fantastic job marketing this place as it convinced me to take a trip to LIC ( just across the river ) . I was excited to check out the new speakeasy bar ( I'm into speakeasy's - Angel's share , employees only , back room etc ). We got there a tad early so we decided to have a drink at the rooftop and marvel at the nyc skyline view ( will post a separate review for the experience ). I like the concept and the decor . When you walk in , you're taken into a sexy place that has a burlesque vibe. Our table was perfectly situated with great views of the main floor , bar and stage where we got to enjoy the various performances for the evening . As this is a speakeasy bar , drinks should be the highlight but we decided to opt for a bottle of wine and my friend had a glass of cocktail which she enjoyed . Now the food. While I enjoy the food presentations , the taste was a bit lacking for me . Everything looked better than they tasted . Ropa vieja ( the beef could have been slightly more tender ), the fried fish ( the rice served with it should be cooked differently or consider serving another side dish , the sauce - too sweet ) , the empanadas were good ( the presentation was on point ), the bone marrow and octopus was my fave. We decided not to have dessert as none of them sounded particularly interesting. The service was superb , it's friendly and quick ( too quick at times for my taste but I get it , they allocate 1 45 minutes for the table but luckily the place wasn't super packed yet so we got away staying a tad longer ). The place has only been open for a few months . The concept is there but needs some tweaking . I couldn't put my finger on it but the experience didn't feel natural ( trying a bit hard ). If this place was in nyc or Williamsburg etc , it would have the natural coolness factor . Maybe it'll get there with growing popularity and enticing a more diverse crowd from different boroughs . I would come back if this place was more of a bar ( like employees only ) with less seating. Maybe focus on making amazing drinks made by mixologists ?

Yelp
Speakeasy vibes with mediocre food. There's way too much hype for this place! Sadly makes me think social media influencers are being paid for reviews. Food is okay-- some dishes were lacking flavor despite excellent presentation and creativity behind the dish. Needs a longer cocktail menu esp for a speakeasy. Also gets kind of loud -- can't hear the servers describe the dishes. A random performance occurred in the middle of the room-- performer was talented for sure! Just grossed out by all the old men standing up mid plate to gawk and take pictures/videos. Kinda made me lose my appetite

Yelp
newsroomny is LIC's Best-Kept secret! Tucked behind the inconspicuous Coke vending machine, This speakeasy serves Latin European dishes in a romantically lit space. They open only Friday and Saturday, whether you are here for a date night or a celebration with friends @newsroomny gives magnificent vibe that lingers in our memory. They host Live aerial performances which elevating the evening with mesmerizing entertainment. Exceptional food, delightful drinks and unparalleled service. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
My best friend and I embarked on a thrilling birthday celebration at the newsroom, a hidden gem of a speakeasy accessed through a secret door. Stepping into this clandestine establishment was like entering another world--a world of enchanting ambiance. The newsroom enveloped us in a captivating, dimly lit, and profoundly romantic atmosphere. Soft, soothing remixes of popular songs filled the air, enhancing the overall experience. Throughout the night, my glass remained full, thanks to the exceptional service provided by our waiter. One of the standout features of this place is its shareable dining concept, and we eagerly embraced it. Our culinary journey began with the chickpea-dusted sautéed shrimp, nestled on a bed of squid ink couscous, bathed in a spicy saffron-red pepper sauce. It was a revelation, with the couscous being the best I've ever tasted, and the shrimp cooked to perfection. I could have devoured three more plates of this heavenly dish. We followed with a fall leaf salad, a harmonious blend of baby arugula, frizzy greens, berries, hazelnuts, and manchego cheese, all elevated by a red pepper truffle vinaigrette. Even as someone not particularly fond of strawberries, I found the balance in this salad to be truly exquisite--an absolute culinary masterpiece. Continuing our culinary adventure, we savored the charred grilled octopus and bone marrow, served with a zesty lime chimichurri and accompanied by tortillas. The flavorful bone marrow and expertly prepared octopus elevated this dish to another level, not only in taste but also in presentation. We were enticed by the dessert tower, featuring a delightful trio of treats. The coconut flan, pumpkin-dusted spice cheesecake, and cake with whipped cream and strawberries were all exceptional. Each dessert was a symphony of flavors and a fitting conclusion to our culinary journey. The newsroom isn't just a restaurant; it's a gastronomic wonderland. Every dish was plated with meticulous precision, making it almost sacrilegious to disturb the breathtaking presentation. To further enhance our experience, an aerialist performed every hour on the hour, adding a mesmerizing touch of magic to our evening. For my libation of choice, I opted for "The Interview," a cocktail with Mezcal, coconut milk, orange blossom water, and chocolate bitters. The presentation was equally spectacular, featuring a mesmerizing smoke show. As our memorable evening came to a close, our waiter graciously offered us complimentary shots, which we couldn't resist. A skilled photographer was also on hand to capture our moments, a delightful touch to an already extraordinary experience. In summary, the newsroom is a culinary masterpiece that stands apart in the vibrant New York dining scene. Impeccable precision, breathtaking presentation, and an array of sensory delights make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow connoisseurs of fine dining.

Yelp
Cute speakeasy with great food and an aerial performance! Great service, great food and atmosphere. Our waitress was very attentive and offered some really good suggestions. For cocktails we got their special Old Fashioned and an off the menu Mango cocktail. Both drinks were good. For appetizers we got the deconstructed empanadas with chicken which was a cute fun concept. We also got the Frisée Salad as an appetizer and it was better than expected, would definitely order again. For entrees we went with the recommended Grilled Lamb Chops which had a goat cheese gratin topping and served with mashed potatoes. The lamb was great, didn't care as much for the sweet potatoes. Also recommended was the Drunken Duck Breast. This was really good! I don't eat duck much, but really enjoyed this dish.

Yelp
First let me tell ya our server Omar was on point!! Best service we've ever had!!! He knew every drink every plate gave us the best recommendations! The ambiance was sexy smooth great date night! Live performance. Onto the drinks and food. The octopus and bone marrow with fresh tortillas on the side was fantastic, ropa vieja fritters with guava sauce good!!! The desserts we got the three tier lava cake, coconut flan and a strawberry cheesecake one dessert was better than then next and all were delicious! I've already been recommending this place to all our friends!!

Yelp
Fancy cocktails for this hidden gem. Ate before we arrived as we wanted to check out the jazz and speakeasy on a Thursday night. Arrived nearly close to closing time (11pm) didn't order any food from the menu. Nice ambiance for a night club setting

Chantel W.

Yelp
Santiago provided exceptional service throughout the night, ensuring a memorable dining experience. The entertainment was top-notch, enhancing the ambiance with great performances. The food was delivered promptly, hot, and delicious, presented beautifully. I highly recommend visiting also the clean bathrooms added to the overall posit experience. Charles i believe who is the manager was excellent as well

Alicia V.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience for dinner. Everything was great from the food to the vibes and drinks. Our waiter was very nice and checked on us. It was my fiancé birthday and the dessert at the end was amazing.

Kiki B.

Yelp
I did not even know about this place until the person opened the entrance and was taken away. the atmosphere and hospitality was out of this world. our server, Maria was the best! was so informant about everything and service was out of this world. live entertainment 100/100 would recommend!!!!. I didn't even think I'd like sweet potato mashed potatoes but I do now!

Malana C.

Yelp
This was my first time going to the speakeasy in LIC! I went on a Thursday night where they had live jazz music. The ambiance and service were great. The music manager, Charles, introduced himself personally and ensured our table had a great experience. Also, shoutout to the waiter, Santiago, for giving great cocktail and food recommendations. The Daily Berrie is a refreshing drink if you enjoy sweet cocktails. In terms of food, the empanadas and NR Latin Paella were very flavorful and gorgeously presented. I definitely will come back here again!

Yelp
As of late there have been quite a few new bars popping up in LIC, some of them have some good potential and unfortunately some are just trying to cash in on the boom. Located in the basement of the "Z Hotel" building, The Newsroom seems to be trying just a bit too hard to be exclusive. When my fiancé and I decided to stop as a walk-in for a nightcap on a Saturday night around 10pm, we were told that we may not be able to get in since we didn't have a reservation. The host then took a quick look behind their door and said that they should be able to fit us in. After we walked in we quickly noticed that the place was empty. I'm not a big fan of it when bars pretend to be crowded to feel more exclusive. After we settled in to our empty row, we decided on our drinks. I opted for the The Front Page ($17) and my fiancé picked the Columnist Quencher ($17). When our drinks arrived I quickly noticed that the drinks seems to be in it for the gram and wow factor. The side of the champagne flute had been decorated with some dried flowers. If only they made the drink as good as it looked. The drink seemed to have this odd metallic taste and was oddly reminiscent of something I've had before. After some thought I realized that the Columnist Quencher tasted like a can of Arizona green tea with some vodka in it. I would expect this grade of cocktail from a fraternity house bar but not from a bar charging 17$. My fiancé's drink was also a big miss, the flavors seemed to be all over the place and had a weird aftertaste. Inside the drink was a weird looking fruit for garnish and flair. When asking the waitress she said she didn't know it was but that it was probably edible. It didn't really inspire confidence. Thinking back on it, it was probably a cherry that they cut to look weird. Honestly out of all the bars that I've been to this year, Newsroom was probably the worst. At the price point Newsroom was charging, I expected better cocktails. With plenty of better options nearby, I don't expect myself to come back to Newsroom anytime soon.

Yelp
This speakeasy offer a jazz show, a trapeze artist and some of the best cocktails LIC has to offer

renje g.

Yelp
- awesome speakeasy - don't make the mistake of going upstairs in the hotel, go downstairs - the host will lead you behind a coke machine - behind that machine is magic and wonderment - free welcome drink upon entry (whatever you choose) - the owner Charles is really nice and wants you to have a great time - cool burlesque show - I liked the acoustic versions of pop music - mouqueca was good - great drinks - steak tacos were alright - food is made to share prices might seem expensive, but they're for two+ people - empty on a Friday night - they close around midnight - great for dates, celebrations, meetups, or relaxing and enjoying the ambiance

Natalia M.

Yelp
Such an amazing spot! I celebrated my birthday here last Saturday with some friends and the staff and waiters were so friendly and amazing! They went above and beyond to make my night special! They not only brought out a dessert for me with the firework candles but they also gave us complimentary drinks with more firework candles! I felt so spoiled! The food and drinks were delicious as well! They even let my friend request a special drink that wasn't on the menu which made her night! The aerial dancer was also so amazing! One of the waiters even went out of his way to take amazing pictures for us! This is definitely the best speakeasy I have been to in NYC! I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come again!

Haana M.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance. Music was really lovely, they were playing jazz the day we were there. The service was also amazing.

Oxana U.

Yelp
Amazing experience! The food, the ambiance and the service were all amazing. We came on a Friday night and there was live music and various performances. Our server, Omar, went above and beyond to make our night special. Excellent service! We tried a lot of food as it is tapas style and everything was delicious. We will definitely be back soon

Aishwarya S.

Yelp
I came here to send off one of our friends to Chicago. Had a great time. Fabrice, the general manager was amazing. He was accommodating, and he even got us a reservation in Lost in Paradise, which is amazing.he was friendly and accommodating. They got us desserts and even sparkles which made our friend's sendoff memorable. She really enjoyed it so thank you so much for that. I will definitely come back here.

Desiree S.

Yelp
Went for a date night and while it's a cool concept and beautifully decorated there are things that could be improved. To start the service was amazing! Claudia was very knowledgeable, kind and attentive. The live entertainment was beautiful and we both loved that addition to the evening. The food on the other hand lacked some flavor and for the price you're paying you'd expect it to be better. I got the lamb chop which was pretty good but my favorite part of it were the sweet potato's that were its pairing. We did the dessert tower and none of them were anything special unfortunately. The drinks were the better part of the dining experience and this place did seem to be a very Instagram-able spot, where the servers encouraged photos of the drinks/food- which to each their own. Would come back for the drinks and experience.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
What a NIGHT. You wouldn't even imagine what is tucked behind a soda machine underneath Z Hotel. Right when you enter the speakeasy, you are greeted with the most hospitable staff, colorful performances, and a romantic and intimate ambiance. We started the night off with 2 cocktails (I got the Front Page). For dinner, we ordered the octopus and bone marrow, duck, and paella. The octopus and bone marrow was my personal favorite, my partner loved the duck. Everything was SO delicious, I'm still thinking about it today. Our server, Claudia was so attentive and sweet. I could tell it was a busy night but she was hustling, all while giving all her tables outstanding service. Charles, the manager, really knows what he's doing here. You can tell he's a people-first type of leader which is what we need in a rough business like the service industry. The Newsroom is up and coming, and will definitely be the talk of LIC. I'm just glad I got the chance to visit a couple weeks after its opening. 10/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amani R.

Yelp
The food was great, the decor, music and the ambience too. I wasn't very happy with the service though. It seemed like our waitress was interested more in flirting than serving.

Aileen P.

Yelp
Just dined here, we had a table for 7 people. We got there 15 minutes late to our reservation. They informed us that we only had 1 hour 15 minutes to sit at our table. The food was okay, the drinks were okay. Definitely not worth your money or time. They had live music and a aerial dancer, that was nice but the space was too small to appreciate it. Our server Omar was nice but he rushed our whole meal. There's so many beautiful establishments in NYC, save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Angie L.

Yelp
Ambiance & service are top tier. The entrance was super creative. definitely will go again!!

Angela P.

Yelp
This experience is so uncomfortable to write about and I hate that I need to leave a review but this needs to be taken seriously and I want to ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else. I was there with a friend for food and drinks. We were offered a complimentary drink by a man in a suit who seemed like the owner who was circulating the bar with an iPad asking people how their experience was. Shortly after consuming the drink, I felt extremely foggy, despite being completely coherent prior. Realizing that something was wrong, we decided to leave immediately. However, as we were exiting, we were offered champagne, which felt like an intentional effort to prolong our stay. Thankfully, we declined and left promptly. Within thirty minutes of leaving, I started experiencing symptoms consistent with being drugged, including a metallic taste in my mouth, extreme confusion and difficulty breathing. I sincerely hope that swift action will be taken to address this issue and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. This is really unacceptable and extremely concerning especially for a place with such high reviews.. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

Thamara C.

Yelp
The food is amazing! The atrial dancers the live performance m! The food was epic my faves are the lamb chops, fish branzino, the octopus (it comes over a bone morrow wow!, the sautéed shrimp omg the sauce is like you've never had before! The ambiance is memorable and the staff are just so kind and thoughtful. The best place if you want a romantic or chill night Perfect!

Elea B.

Yelp
Omar was the absolute best. The show and food were incredible, service 10/10. Definitely will be coming back!

Christian B.

Yelp
Santiago and Omar and some of the best, service was chill, and the empanadas looked liked they were sentenced to death, and the live music was stellar but embarrassed me(JK).

Josh D.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, sexy, nice drink menu. Claudia really hooked it up, ask to sit at her table

Brady R.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Jax Taylor, and I was scrolling through his Instagram stories when I stumbled upon a newsroom about a speakeasy opening in Long Island City. Reservations began last Thursday, so I patiently waited until Saturday to secure mine and see what it was all about. It did not disappoint in any way. Located beneath the entrance of the Z Hotel, a lovely hostess stands at the hotel's door, asking for reservations for the rooftop. If you don't have one, she'll guide you to a staircase that resembles a subway train. In front of it, there's a newsstand and a Coke machine. They ask you to wait by the train-themed bar where others are waiting for their upstairs reservation or just enjoying a drink. Then, the host opens the Coke machine, revealing the entrance. It was such a beautiful and unique experience that I absolutely loved. The interior of the speakeasy is incredibly impressive - chic, dark, and exuding a sexy vibe. The cutest host then greeted us and led us to our table, and everything was immaculate. Of course, they had just opened, so I didn't expect anything less. Our server's knowledge and enthusiasm about the menu made our mouths water even before tasting the food. It's so refreshing to see a server genuinely passionate about what they're serving. We simply had to try the cocktails, and they were amazing, even though we're not usually cocktail fans. But the wine, oh, the wine! I can't even describe how good it was. I enjoyed a glass of French Sauvignon Blanc with my Branzino and another glass of red with dessert. The wine truly became the highlight of my night. This place is my new favorite spot. It's often challenging to find a combination of good quality, interesting food, a great ambiance, and exceptional wine, but this place has it all. I'm sold! Thank you for an amazing night, and I will definitely be back.

M G.

Yelp
Great food and service. Cute decor and delicious drinks. I had the duck and it was espectacular .

Maurice W.

Yelp
Omar--- legit is the best ! But food , drinks and vibe!! This was the best hidden treasure

Victor M.

Yelp
Service was great! Was met outside the "soda machine," was told what to expect, then was seated next to the stage. Our server, I believe her name was Claudia, went over the menu and explained that it was served Tapas style and to order everything together. Wish we could have staggered dishes, because everything was quick and all our food arrived at once. That being said, everything was delicious. My partner had a Manhattan, and as someone who is a Manhattan aficionado, he said it was really good. We ordered the guacamole with pork belly, Filet Minion taquitos, and hanger steak. Each dish looked quite appetizing, and the flavors did not disappoint. 10/10 for food and drink. The performance was...interesting. It lasted about 15 minutes, a gentleman sang four songs with the aerialist performing during 2 of them. Overall, it was a very fun evening. Would recommend this to couples who want something different in LIC. We will definitely be back!

R N.

Yelp
I don't really get the good reviews. I really wanted to like this place since from Instagram and Yelp it seemed so fun. Unfortunately, even though the overall vibe was great, I'd probably not return for drinks or food. I got the smokey mezcal drink, and most of the smoke seemed to come from the burned cinnamon stick they put in my drink rather than the mezcal itself. My husband's second drink just tasted like pure alcohol. The food was varying degrees of bad- I could tell they were trying to do something creative with the "stuff your own empanadas" but there's a reason empanadas are made the way they are, and as a result these tasted stodgy. The sliders were fine. The croquettes tasted like they were in McDonald's sweet and spicy sauce, so the sauce was the favorite part of our whole meal. The pizza was completely unforgivable, it tasted like a microwave pizza and we weren't able to finish it. I do want to give credit to the service though, they were all very on top of things, except many of them did seem to be vaping on the dining room floor.

Yelp
The Newsroom is a great hidden gem of NYC. Food is superb, drinks are phenomenal and creative. Ambiance is top tier. Claudia was a great server. Will definitely come back

Yelp
the service was terrible. the owner is an extremely rude and pushy guy. the place itself has a weird vibe about it. there are plenty of better cocktail bars in the area.

Yelp
My new favorite speakeasy in the city with a vintage New York vibe, cool performances, excellent drinks, and beautiful Latin fusion food cooked by celebrity chef - Richardo Cardona. They just opened 3 weeks ago, go before the Times finds them.

Yelp
From the step you come in, you're greeted by the sweet and beautiful hostess. Ask for Omar, he was very attentive, welcoming and helpful!! I can't wait to come back again. First jazz night and I'm filled with joy and love. #Thursdaynights #Omartheserver

Yelp
food was extremely tasty. service was mediocre. the host was friendly, but even tho i checked in 15min early, i was told to wait for my guest on a couch. when she arrived 10min later, i was told there were no tables available but that we could be seated at the bar. we agreed, and we're given two stools but there were no hooks on which to hang our jackets and the bartenders light firecracker candles in which the smoke made it hard for us to breathe. again, the food was good. the drinks were average. would not spend $180 for 2 here again tho. essentially you're paying to walk thru a coca cola door.
