The Nici (Bournemouth, Dorset) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Bournemouth has seen its share of seaside hotels, but none quite like the Nici, a West Cliff classic whose recent renovation leaves it looking more like Miami Beach than anyone could reasonably expect from the Dorset coast. Its 80 refurbished rooms and suites are a vision in minimalist white, gold, and green, and its public spaces lean in to the tropical inspiration — Old Harry Rocks serves Mediterranean fare in a driftwood-decorated space, while the South Beach restaurant and bar is precisely what its name suggests." - Tablet Hotels

The Nici | Best places to stay in Bournemouth

"Blessed with golden beaches, leafy parks and with easy access from London, Bournemouth has – like so many British seaside resorts – always been let down by mediocre, old-fashioned hotels.  All that changed earlier this year, however, with the opening of the Nici; an art-filled, super-chic hotel that feels as though it’s been airlifted straight off Miami beach. The flagship property and first of a new chain of hotels from renowned hotelier Nicolas Roach, the Nici drew rave reviews when it opened in late Spring. The hotel is a clever restoration and renovation of a beautiful grande dame of a building, oozing character and charm. Out back, there are spacious grounds leading to cliffs, and below them, some of Bournemouth’s best (and quietest) sandy beaches. Internally, it has a contemporary light and breezy ‘Miami South Beach’ vibe that makes you really feel like you’re on holiday. Food is inventive and delicious, and can be served out on the terrace with wonderful sea views. At the time of writing, a world-class spa is being built in the grounds. The town centre is a 5-minute taxi ride, but this is very much a destination hotel you’re unlikely to want to leave. It’s already a local institution and recognised as the place to be seen by Bournemouth’s young, hip crowd. " - Annabelle Thorpe

Just returned from a lovely stay at The Nici Hotel Bournemouth! We live locally - Wimborne - and arranged this short break to celebrate our anniversary! We had a fabulous sea view room with stunning views and balcony! The room was elegant and the bed extremely comfortable! The bathroom spacious with a huge shower! It was so warm and comfortable it felt like home from home! Staff very attentive! Cocktails delicious! Spa area was great to relax in after a celebratory night out at the Ivy restaurant. We would highly recommend The Nici to any of our friends and family and we most certainly will return there ourselves, again! Thank you for a wonderful stay!! 😊😍🤗

Clean, smart hotel with complimentary rum once in thr room! Great touch, just the thing as I was headed to a concert. I had the mini bar emptied so I could use it as a fridge. Immaculate decor, but pow ceilings! I'm ok, I'm 4'11 still managed to bump my head getting out of the bath, doesn't happen often, rum & cider at concert may have contributed! But yeah, tall people will be stooping around the end 'annexe' rooms! Pool was lovely, really chill, cool water available, great jacuzzi, wow it was like a rocket going off! Sauna & steam rooms available, too. I loved the relaxed atmosphere down by the pool there were huge sofas to lounge on, so comfy I almost fell asleep fir awhile whilst swimming on departure day, they were very good with letting me do that & held my luggage for me whilst I went and ventured into Bournemouth for a few hours. One surprise, on arrival you have to deposit £300, this seems excessive, this would be my only niggle. I only had about £280 , as I carry cash, which they wouldn't accept, unfortunately, however eventually, they accepted the £280. They were quite distant and a little shirt with me when I asked to pay deposit with cash, byt the girl became friendlier as the days went by. The staff don't wear uniforms & there was no-one to offer to help take your luggage up, though the same reception girl offered, but that would've left people waiting. The young room attendant lady was incredibly sweet, as was the guy who tried to help me access the Internet on my tv at about 1am! Would I stay again? Yes, it is a great experience, though, I only booked it as I had a huge discount!

The Nici feels surprisingly LA in the best way. I was upgraded to a hot tub room, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ which set the tone straight away. The design across the hotel is relaxed, confident and sun-soaked rather than formal. The art is stunning and biophilic design runs throughout the entire space, from the rooms to the public areas and pools, giving it a laid-back, West Coast feel. The swimming pool areas in particular have that effortless, almost Slim Aarons-style glamour. Palm-lined, calm and elegant without feeling staged. It’s a rare thing to find in the UK and it really works here. Sustainability feels genuinely considered rather than performative, and the recent room upgrades feel fresh and comfortable without being overdone. Staff were warm, friendly and unpretentious throughout the stay. Breakfast was excellent, generous and high quality. Overall, it’s relaxed luxury with a definite LA edge. Stylish, calm and a genuinely enjoyable place to spend time. I’d happily return.

Incredible venue, great interiors but unfortunately the food and service let you down. Really loved every aspect of the place but the service in the restaurant was below expected standard. Our dinner bill was around £280 and we felt begrudged paying for the quality and service. We also noted, as many others (5-6 months ago) that the room service trays - these are left in the hallway for much longer than necessary. As others have said, when you are paying for a premium experience, things like room service trays should be cleared as soon as possible. (Especially when you have multiple members of FOH staff looking for jobs during their shift.) All of this said, we cannot fault the rest of the hotel team, they were fantastic and very much appreciate their hard work. We enjoyed our stay but just left feeling a little iffy about our F&B bill, no mistakes but felt the quality did not match the cost. We just want the team to know we appreciate their hard work, just some aspects let the team down.

Sadly Misses the mark that its trying to hit. £450 a night in the annexe rooms, including a 30 minute massage for me and my partner in the spa. My wifes started late... but ended on time. 20 mins not 30. Not a great start. What do you do, complain and go back in for 10 minutes... Wierdly she got a 30% of discount for another booking, I didnt. No consistency. Service disappointing in the restaurant. We headed down in robes ready for our spa session straight after breakfast, after waiting five minutes to be seated were told we had to go and change because robes werent allowed. While my wife changed, I took my rob off... .and therefore had less on (swim shorts and t shirt) than I had on before, seems a completely daft policy for a Spa hotel... especially when reception told us on check in we could use the facilities with the robes on if we wanted too. £27 a night for Valet parket... that wasnt Valet parking. Continental breakfast included but £13+ for cooked breakfast and £4 for a "speciality coffee", for the room rate, just felt like nickel and diming clients. Even Costa isnt £4 for an espresso... Service at dinner was good, Andre looked after us well, no complaints there. Overall an £1150 weekend that we wouldnt do again because it just didnt get to the level it wants to. Wasnt asked on check out how the stay was, she wasnt interested at all. Small issues that shouldnt happen.

Had the most amazing time at The Nici for our Christmas party.||The room was faultless, with all the amenities you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The bed was perfect and on the whole the room was spacious and immaculate.||I was there for a Christmas Party in the Little Havana room, which I could tell had been transformed for our event. The team had clearly put in a lot of work here to set the tables and serve the food promplty. I must also mention the food was excellent.||Foye went above and beyond to provide an excellent level of service, going the extra mile to make sure each guest was satisfied. Thank you Foye for making the night special!||I personally cannot wait until I am back here again.

I came to The Nici for some peace and quiet, and it didn’t disappoint. |The staff can never do enough for you, and are always so helpful. ||The highlight of the trip was the lunch in the Restaurant, Izzy was the lovely person looking after me. |She was really kind, and really accommodating. She was so helpful, and I wanted to say is a credit to your hotel. Thank you Izzy! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. X

The pictures don’t do this hotel justice. Such a beautiful hotel with the little details thought about too, our room was upgraded to a suite and it was stunning, the bath and balcony/terrace were a fabulous touch. Defiantly worth visiting the spa if you’re there. We had a slight disappointment with our Christmas party however it was dealt with very swiftly. Looking forward to staying again!
