The Nici (Bournemouth, Dorset) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Bournemouth has seen its share of seaside hotels, but none quite like the Nici, a West Cliff classic whose recent renovation leaves it looking more like Miami Beach than anyone could reasonably expect from the Dorset coast. Its 80 refurbished rooms and suites are a vision in minimalist white, gold, and green, and its public spaces lean in to the tropical inspiration — Old Harry Rocks serves Mediterranean fare in a driftwood-decorated space, while the South Beach restaurant and bar is precisely what its name suggests." - Tablet Hotels

The Nici | Best places to stay in Bournemouth

"Blessed with golden beaches, leafy parks and with easy access from London, Bournemouth has – like so many British seaside resorts – always been let down by mediocre, old-fashioned hotels.  All that changed earlier this year, however, with the opening of the Nici; an art-filled, super-chic hotel that feels as though it’s been airlifted straight off Miami beach. The flagship property and first of a new chain of hotels from renowned hotelier Nicolas Roach, the Nici drew rave reviews when it opened in late Spring. The hotel is a clever restoration and renovation of a beautiful grande dame of a building, oozing character and charm. Out back, there are spacious grounds leading to cliffs, and below them, some of Bournemouth’s best (and quietest) sandy beaches. Internally, it has a contemporary light and breezy ‘Miami South Beach’ vibe that makes you really feel like you’re on holiday. Food is inventive and delicious, and can be served out on the terrace with wonderful sea views. At the time of writing, a world-class spa is being built in the grounds. The town centre is a 5-minute taxi ride, but this is very much a destination hotel you’re unlikely to want to leave. It’s already a local institution and recognised as the place to be seen by Bournemouth’s young, hip crowd. " - Annabelle Thorpe

After reading previous reviews I went with an open mind. We were greeted with a friendly smile and told where evertything was. Changing room are very spacious, good lockers great showers. Pool area was lovely I thought there was plenty of seating compared to other nearby spas, pool was refreshing good temperature as was the jacuzzi - steam room and sauna again were both good to use. Relaxing room was just that - perfect to sit back with a nice herbal tea and relax . Francisca was my therapist who gave a very good body massage and was very informative about ways for me to relax. We had lunch in south beach restaurant which was very tasty indeed Parma ham salad followed by fish served with a lovely wine. Great view and good service. This is definitely my favourite spa in the Bournemouth area. Can’t wait to visit again - thank you

We enjoyed the hotel. The breakfast was excellent and the room was absolutely brilliant with a lovely terrace. We couldn’t get a deckchair outside but conversely we did sit by the indoor pool which was very pleasant . The reception staff are also extremely helpful. It’s also in a magnificent location easily walkable to Bournemouth town Centre and sandbanks . I’ll certainly go back . The only slight spanner in the works was a rather unhelpful manager at old Harry rocks but apart from that we would certainly recommend.

Wonderful Spa Day My Girlfriend and myself treated ourselves to a spa day and the experience was excellent. Special thanks to our massage therapists Frankie and Em, the treatments were exactly what we needed and were exceptional. The Spa facilities are magical with the shimmering mermaid scale like indoor pool and lovely jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The outdoor pool and seating was in a beautiful setting and the decor is fantastic. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend a visit to this spa for anyone wanting some downtime and rejuvenation.

Windows in Room 227 were very dirty, a real let down. Toilet flush was faulty. The mini bar didn’t work on arrival but it was rectified when reported. AC didn’t seem to cope. Sauna didn’t work. Nobody picked up the phones in general which was quite frustrating. Nice toiletries and coffee in the room. Bed was very comfortable. Check in by the girl with the pleat was purely transactional and didn’t have any warmth. I felt like a school kid listening to all the rules. The Nici is an interesting and original hotel concept in the wrong location (Bournemouth city centre is rough and hotel surrounding areas are full of budget hotels and seedy bars / restaurants). It lacks quality customer service and attention to detail but it was much better than expected and what we read on the reviews.

There’s a number of things that weren’t right. We paid for the supposedly best room being the terrace suite with sea view. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly - crumbs all over the sofa, dust and the floor had dirt marks all over. Surprising given the room rate is more than a 5 star luxury resort in Dubai! The jacuzzi was out of order for 2/3 nights we were there and given how small the spa is this was one of the key features. The spa gets packed and no one it seems cleans regularly as there’s hairs over the floor, it’s soaking wet and towels are thrown everywhere. The cleaning should be so much more frequent than it is. At the restaurant we ordered food and the chef had substituted items that weren’t available but no one informed us - luckily we noticed before consuming as one of us was allergic to the subsisted item. This is just sloppy and not at all the level of service expected for the prices charged. The pool area is nice when the weather is good but there’s zero atmosphere. No music or entertainment - dead!

We stayed here for my birthday and our last getaway as a couple before the arrival of our baby. We loved the decor! Our room was upgraded to Sea View Suite which was a pleasant surprise, it definitely added excitement to our trip. We enjoyed the facilities — they have jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, indoor pool and an outdoor pool!

Great place to stay and eat. Andre in particular was fantastic. We had a lot of allergies and special dietary requirements and he went out of his way to accommodate us. He was attentive without being overbearing and it was clear that he treats all|patrons with courtesy and care. He is the main reason we will return for lunch or dinner tomorrow.

Such a lovely stay. Beautiful location, room was gorgeous, and lovely Spa Massage and relaxation area too. Food was nice, the Continental breakfast was impressive. Staff were incredible and couldn't do more. A particular thanks to Kevin on reception who went above and beyond to meet our needs, and to the therapist (I think it was Vicky?) who did my Mums treatment, she was so kind. Parking attendants were great and charges not applied due to having a disabled badge. The only let down was the linked Harry Rocks restaurant, a completely contrasting experience in levels of service and staff attitude couldn't, it couldnt have been more polar opposite. I haven't reflected that in the rating for this review and as the stay in the actual hotel and all those staff deserve the rating for what was otherwise a 5 star experience (rest assured Ive left a separate review on Harry Rocks!). Will definitely return to the hotel and recommend to everyone but just avoid any future use or any recommendations of Harry Rocks....it far from rocked!
