Our stay at Hotel Nickel in Charleston, South Carolina was nothing short of exceptional. We spent five days there over Christmas, and from the moment we arrived, the experience felt personal, thoughtful, and genuinely special. The hotel itself is a beautifully curated boutique property—perfectly appointed, elegant, and filled with more amenities than we could have imagined. Every detail felt intentional, creating an atmosphere that was both luxurious and welcoming. What truly elevated our stay, however, were the people. Alana at the front desk and Ty, the bellhop, went far beyond outstanding service. Their personal touches, warmth, and attentiveness turned our visit into something truly memorable. Over the course of our stay, what began as excellent hospitality grew into a genuine sense of friendship. They made us feel completely at home, anticipated our needs, and brought so much heart to everything they did. The entire experience felt surreal in the best way—rare attention to detail, sincere kindness, and a level of care that’s increasingly hard to find. Hotel Nickel is a gem, and Alana and Ty are absolute stars. We will absolutely return and recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone visiting Charleston. A truly unforgettable stay.

First time staying here and we loved it! We’re local here in Charleston and stayed overnight for New Year’s. The rooms are large and well appointed; the rooftop bar area and 2d floor lounge are fantastic. We also liked the good and reasonably priced selection of snacks and drinks in the room. Customer service is top notch. And kudos to whoever decided no carpet in the rooms—bravo. They invested in high quality windows facing King St that kept it very quiet in the room. Can’t say enough good things about it. Tip: great public parking is nearby so don’t opt for valet. We’re glad we got in at a reasonable introductory rate because the price on this will skyrocket soon. Pound-for-pound, the best hotel in town.

We had an amazing experience at The Nickel Hotel in Charleston. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to the sensational two-bedroom apartment, which was stunning—spacious, beautifully designed, and full of thoughtful details. The amenities were top-notch, especially the Le Labo toiletries in the Hinoki scent—a luxurious touch that stood out. Upstairs at Rosemary, the lounge had a great atmosphere with friendly, approachable staff and a welcoming vibe. The views were gorgeous, especially at sunset. Food-wise, everything we tried was excellent. Highlights included the fish and chips, chickpea fritters, tuna carpaccio, and the creamy burrata—all fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Every part of our stay felt elevated and personal. If you're visiting Charleston and want a stylish, comfortable place with great service and food, The Nickel Hotel is a fantastic choice.

The Nickel hotel is located on Kings Street and an absolute gem in the bustling district. Located in the heart of historic district of Charleston, The Nickel is walkable to practically everything! Friendly staff with lots of youthful energy and excitement that puts one in a fabulous and fun mood! The decor and charm were very welcoming and full of warm personality! This is not a cookie cutter chain!!! Rooms are spacious with excellent layout. Everything modern and efficient. I loved having access to the beautiful courtyard from my room. Everything was clean and room service very good. This hotel is an absolute gem and definitely a place I would return to with next trip to Charleston.

We really enjoyed a 2 night stay to celebrate our anniversary. Greeted at reception with a glass of grand cru champagne got my attention. Every room seems to have a balcony overlooking the courtyard. A thoughtful anniversary card from the GM was in our room. Complimentary bottle of prosecco chilled in our fridge. Hit all the bases! A home run stay. Reception staffers and valet excellent also!

Amazing hotel! The aesthetic is like none other, it’s so unique and beautiful. The service as soon as you walk through the door is outstanding. You’re offered a drink, and your bags are taken by a bellhop. The courtyard is so beautiful and the rooftop bar is really cool. The one small critique I have is that one of the bar tenders was kind of rude, which I didn’t appreciate. But I won’t take a star off for an outlier.

Absolutely incredible stay! The hotel was spotless and comfortable, but what really made it stand out was the amazing staff. From check-in to check-out, every single person we encountered went out of their way to be friendly, helpful, and genuine. You can tell they take pride in making guests feel welcome. It’s rare to find a team this attentive and kind — they truly made our trip unforgettable. Highly recommend staying here if you want top-notch service and a great experience!

The rooftop bar is a beautiful space overlooking downtown with comfortable seating and fire pits. Inside is a bit noisy but not harsh. Drinks are pricey and fall a bit short of great and ditto for the food.

This new addition to Charleston is a wonderful hotel. It is beautifully appointed and very tastefully decorated. There are comfortable public spaces including a courtyard and intimate bar area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and include a kitchen area stocked with fresh coffee beans, tea, and other refreshments. The room included a private balcony where we enjoyed some wine before venturing out for dinner. Highly recommended.

Where is the southern hospitality? Stopped in this hotel 2 weeks back and experienced some of the worst hospitality service in memory. There was a "bouncer" outside who gave my girlfriend and I a hard time about simply walking into the hotel (short guy in an xxs tight shirt on to paint the picture). Typically nice hotels have a friendly doorman to greet you - for some reason they had the complete opposite of that - bold strategy. Go to the hotel bennett or Elliott house instead.
