"The Night Market is probably the closest any Bay Area restaurant comes to re-creating the look and feel of the kind of night market you find throughout Asia, with a particular nod to the foods and atmosphere of Hong Kong’s dai pai dong — even down to the folding tables and colorful plastic stools. Menu staples include Hainan chicken rice, Hong Kong-style cart noodles, and a Chiu-Chow style congee bar that lets customers choose from among more than a dozen different toppings." - Lauren Saria, Luke Tsai

Pros: Love the menu, I think it’s very interesting and brought back memories when I was in night market back in china/hk/taiwan. Price were not bad either. Cons: It took them so long to bring the first dish. We had big order and it took them 20 mins to make noodles and curry balls. The complimentary tea was amazing. Perfect sweetness and really refreshing. Food: love the bbq pork and pork belly. Unlike typical roasted pork belly that’s very fatty and almost inedible, their version is very lean, flavorful, and delicious. Curry balls: was ok, flavor’s a bit weak. Seems like it’s too watered down. Lamb fried rice: was good, but probably could go a little lighter on msg. Noodle cart: looks really good and flavorful, but could go a little thicker and bold. Chicken skin with salted egg yolk: this is the worst and most disgusting dish out of all. Not only it’s oily and overcooked, it gave me heartburn and acid reflux. I’ll skip this next time. Seating arrangements is a little small, no ac and a little bit messy but that’s probably to build the mood.

Google
Hong Kong street kind of theme. They have a lot of dishes to choose. Food tasted okay and vibes good. On the other hand, I noticed that they waste too many plastic bowls and utensils. I don’t think they care about that much. Shrimp dumplings and popcorn chicken tasted great. It’s a bit too pricey for Cantonese street food though. Overall, it was okay.

i got the combination noodle with curry fish ball, tofu puff, fish cake and seasonal greens all for $19. the taste was good and the service was prompt and friendly.

I came here about 90 mins before closing. The chicken with yellow rice (menu item R1) did not taste as good as it looked on the menu photo. The deboned chicken drumstick meat was dry and rubbery. Yellow rice was quite hard like it was undercooked or was under a heat lamp all day. The cabbage was the only item that tasted fine. I like how the place looked sanitary, especially the bathroom. The prices are overpriced considered the bad food quality. I will likely return here in the future because my European friends like this place. The music indoors is very loud. It’s difficult to have a conversation unless you are speaking into their ears. I do not recommend this place for those who have sensitive hearing. Outdoors seating is less noisy but cold.

Google
Place has a long way to go when it come to customer service . I order my food the people behind me get their plates before I do. Ok fine no problem. I am waiting for my food . 20 min pass and still no food . When the lady comes with my plate it's on a plastic container while everyone else is eating from plates . Ok yeah no We aren't doing this I immediately ask for my refund and will never come back here again… mind you I only ordered one plate . The people behind me had ordered two different plates .. make it make sense N

Google
Overall, the food is not bad. What looked like separate food stalls, like the ones in Asia, are all for show. You order at the front cashier and pick up the food at the back counter. The place is smaller in person. I do like the Hong Kong and Taiwanese influence of the menu. After sitting a while on their plastic chairs, my back started to hurt and had to get up. We had a large order and was missing an item. Luckily someone in our group noticed and had to talk to the cashier. Of course the flavors aren't as good as the real food stalls in Asia. I think it might be the local ingredients. The one thing I didn't like was how most of the stuff was served in to-go containers. Such a waste.

The atmosphere is good but not the food nor the price. As a Cantonese, I wouldn’t suggest going. -Cart noodles: the pig knuckle tastes like soup water. The noodles come in a big portion (a plus) but the overall taste is not good nor as expected. -beef tripe: no other taste than oil.. the restaurant should filter the water out -pudding cakes: the mixture can be mixed better. The texture is just not right. I can make better ones at home honestly -shrimp dumpling: is the only ok one but it’s too overpriced. We try way better ones for $5.50 In conclusion, if you just want a night market vintage photo, it is a good place to go. But if you want quality Hong Kong food, reconsider…

Google
I had the beef chow fun. Although the flavor was good and they gave lots of beef, mine was a little tough and that is why I gave three stars on the food, maybe mine is an isolated incident. The prices are like San Francisco which is where I live but the location is in South San Francisco and the prices are slightly higher than average for out lying cities. If you've been to an Asian "Street" night market in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tai Pei or similar, the name conjures up small rickety tables and chairs for "temporary" locations and there are some temporary "token" chairs and tables in front of the store you might find in an Asian street night market. There is also a dessert place next door or in the same structure. The outdoor atmosphere here is clean like an American standard restaurant or fast food place and ideal for warm weather. They also have limited indoor seating. The menu is very large and the time from purchase to walking away with pick up for a single item is fair.

Yelp
Usually DoorDash has a happy hour deal which makes it worth the price. Hainan chicken is a bit salty but good portion and rice is tasty. The squid in curry is good portion as well. Xiaolongbao is quite expensive Beef noodle has many stomach parts and less tendon and brisket but like the rice vermicelli style noodle

Yelp
Just like the actual night markets in HK, there isn't going to be much service here. There's no wait staff to greet you at the door or bring you to your table........ it's a night market. You walk in, look at the menu, order at the front, sit down at a table and they bring the food out to you. People complaining about the lack of service should go to an actual restaurant because this isn't for you. We ordered loads of good and everything was pretty good but the fried rice stood out. Fried Rice - Probably one of the best fried rice I've had in my life. I'm guessing they use pork fat cause it was pretty greasy but godamn was it good. Also had lots of bbq pork and other meats in it. I would come back here just for the fried rice alone.

Yelp
I had this place bookmarked for awhile. I was excited to come try this place, while we were on our way to SF for a show. It was a weeknight so I wasn't expecting it to be busy. I guess I also wasn't expecting it to be so dead and a little sad looking either. There was one couple inside when we arrived. And one other couple came in to pick up food to go while we were there but for the most part, my hubby and I were the only patrons. Also I think I was expecting like an actual night market type of setup, like they have in Asia. But it's not a huge place. And while they have different concepts and menus, you order at one central place. The kitchen surrounds the restaurant in a U shape. Tables are set up in the middle. We perused the menu and ordered and paid. Then they brought out our food to us. I got the cart noodles, which is totally customizable. You can have it dry or with broth, pick the type of noodles , as well as the toppings. I got the thick rice noodles, with tofu, lobster balls and veggies, in a broth. It came out quickly and hit the spot. It was a warm day but I slurped it up so quickly. Very solid noodle bowl. My hubby got the combination pan fried crispy noodles. It was a huge portion and he wasn't sure if he would finish at first, but he got through most of it. It was topped with that gravy and lots of veggies and meat (chicken, char sui, shrimp, etc). The noodles were a bit odd to me, more crispy or something, but worked fine. He seemed to enjoy it a lot. They also have traditional HK desserts, congee, rice entrees, HH specials, tea & boba drinks and street snacks. All the Asian food choices, to your heart's content. I hope they stick around, but given the business we saw, I'm not sure. They have their own lot with probably 20 spots. Clean inside and bathroom was also fine.

Yelp
I love street food type places! The closest thing to feeling like Hong Kong! Food - Got some curry fish balls to fix my cravings and it was good. Service - Not too long of a line around 4pm, and a quick wait for food to come out. Ambiance - Love the feeling of street food, Hong Long style with the chairs and tables feels nostalgic. - Spruce coffee and food is next door too. - I like that they have a parking lot right out front. I'll be back to try more food!

Yelp
I remember when this place used to be popping every weekend. I really like the aesthetic of a street market here but it used to look a lot better in the beginning years. On a slow day I felt like the service was pretty slow. I always come here to check out their snacks. There's nothing particularly good or bad about their stuff, just convenient to go here instead of waiting in long, dim sum restaurants for others. My order: Curry fish balls - I don't really know what it was expecting, but the curry was more on the watery spicy side but the fish balls were pretty plain. Popcorn chicken - Honestly can't go wrong here it was a good snack. Milk tea with boba - It might just be the day that I got it but the Boba wasn't very good but the milk tea was okay. I've definitely tried their other snacks, but somehow they stood out the most.

Yelp
Place is a lot smaller than expected for its namesake. A large menu showcases a plethora of Cantonese fare that you order at the kiosk that is then delivered to your table in an indoor space that attempts to mimic an outdoor night market. The food is legit. We ordered the HK milk tea, curry fish balls , bbq pork and crispy pork with rice and salted egg. It's a bit off the beaten path so not sure I would make an extra effort to come again, but it's a good concept that could be better experience-wise. I think having more a personable experience with vendors would make the place more lively.

Yelp
This place was my go-to for duck meat. Now, they have removed it in the menu.... I'm quite sad and disappointed. I really hope that they can bring duck breast plate back :((( I ended up getting lamb fried rice. It was good. The portion was great; however, there was too much grease / oil from this dish. I probably won't come back anytime soon unless they have my fav duck menu back. Sad!

Farhana M.

Yelp
So many options! Came here on a saturday early afternoon and there isnt a lot of people. The seats aren't comfortable but it seems like this place is meant for quick meals. The portions seem like a lot. The mongolian beef does not come with white rice

Oleg H.

Yelp
TNM - pretty great! Exceeded expectations. The menu - at first glance - is overwhelming a bit, but once you get oriented - it's easy to find something to satisfy most tastes. We had a few stuffed buns and one big bbq pork rice plate style dish. All of which were a hit. Looking forward to coming back and sampling more smaller items - because the ones we got were great.

Yelp
I came here about a year ago on a Thursday afternoon for lunch with a group of 3. It was quite quiet inside at the time with only one other person coming to eat afterwards. The ambiance has a neat feel to it similar to food stalls that would be open late in places such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. The food itself is mostly focused on Hong Kong style cuisine. The seats and tables can be a bit flimsy but intentional in nature given that they really commit to their theme. The overall design of the interior is the main draw and attraction to this place. Though the place appears designed to have multiple food stalls, there is a single line and cashier for ordering. It took us a while to get the attention of a worker as maybe they were not aware they had customers at this time. We ordered a variety of three rice plates, a dim sum dish, and a dessert. The prices were alright overall, being generally around average price or so. After ordering, the wait for the food did take quite a long time though. After the food did arrive, we sat down and shared the dishes around. The food was just okay overall, being just a bit below average for typical Chinese food at that price point. It didn't leave the best impression nor the worst. Overall, The Night Market is a food spot to go for the ambiance, fun, and variety that the place provides. The food is alright overall but there is a good amount of variety to choose from.

Yelp
It is 5:45pm on a Wed night, a perfect time to visit the Night Market before the chaos of orders soon to come later in the evening. I took a picture of the overall spot. There is a nice seating area with a bus stop street sign that makes you feel as if you're indeed eating and sitting in a random street in Asia. They have a variety of food selections that you can modify (you can customize most things) but for this review we will stick to what we ordered. Food: 1) Fried Tofu Stuff Buns: 5/5 My fav stuffed buns! These stuffed buns might just be their prize winner. I enjoyed the double meat in two stuffed buns. The Buns were not too doughy, the protein in excellent portion, and the house sauce went perfect with this. We will come back to order this TO-GO 2) Beef Curry w/ Rice: 5/5 Beef brisket w vegetables in their house curry. The beef is extremely tender, little slices of veggies to pair with the curry sauce. Curry is flavorful and on the thicker side, but it pairs so well with the rice. More protein than rice is always a plus. Overall for $16 I say it's worth it! 3) Wonton egg noodle soup: 3/5 These noodles are okay. They will get the job done, but in my opinion too much noodles and less wonton ratio. 4) Fresh Taro milk tea: 4/5 Taro is good, taro milk tea is better! Nothing bad ti say here. It's fresh! 5) Sago mango coconut: 4/5 Excellent drink. The sago is so good and the mango just makes it that much more flavorful! On the sweeter side, don't have the option to make it sweeter? We wish the sago wasn't too frozen, altho it was good! Overall, we enjoyed our time at the night market. This place is a great area to go to late at night, right after a hangout session or even when you're just hungry. We are coming back for both Boba and their buns. Next time we will we will try congee and their dumplings!

Catherine N.

Yelp
Maybe I ordered the wrong types of things because this was not good in my opinion. I got a customized noodle bowl with curry sauce, rice noodles, and some fixings but the sauce was somehow so bland. The noodles were mushy and sauce completely lacking any flavor or salt. The only recourse was eating bites of chicken skin from my friend, which were extremely delicious! i I really wanted to like this concept because street food is both delicious and fun to eat, but for my first experience I did not enjoy it.

Maggie C.

Yelp
Entering in the restaurant, I could tell for sure what vibe the restaurant was going for. The plastic stools and the beer crates really sold it for me and it did feel like the night markets in China. I was a little confused as to how to order for dine in but we just ordered in front and picked a table and left our receipt on the table for the server to bring the food to us. The noodles we ordered were a little on the saltier side so definitely be prepared for that. The popcorn chicken could've used a little spice but I love the sauce that came with it. The drinks we got were also great as well!

Edwin D.

Yelp
This unique open-air food stall concept, reminiscent of those in Southeast Asia, offered both highlights and areas for improvement. Arriving for lunch on a Saturday, we appreciated the absence of a wait, allowing us to explore the offerings without delay. The roast duck over rice and Hainan chicken rice were both decent choices with adequate portions. While the flavors were good, they didn't quite reach the level of exceptional. The tofu dessert and mango sago were pleasant but suffered from not being cold enough, detracting from the overall enjoyment. The casual ambiance and moderate noise level made for a comfortable dining atmosphere. The service was good, with friendly staff attending to our needs. However, the limited parking in their private lot could pose a challenge, especially during busier times.

LeeLee C.

Yelp
HongKong street food in a multi store location, the seating is street hawker style, nothing fancy. The seatings were surrounded by the little kitchens offering food like boba tar, steam dim sum, build your own noodle bar and some simple rice and noodle dishes. Most satisfying is the dessert menu which has all the authentic desserts soups. Service is simple, you order via the cashier and then wait with the ticket, they will bring the food to your table. The portions are generous! $7 for the popcorn chicken that comes with a big box of it and the chickens are in big chunks. The bbq combo with fried pork belly and chasiu is surprisingly delicious! The pork belly has crispy skin and soft juicy meat, the bbq pork is also soft and moist. Don't forget to check in via Yelp and get a free drink! This is not our first time here and you don't find many build your own noodle (cart noodle) options around the bay, so it's worth giving it a try.

Dina V.

Yelp
I drive past this area all the time and didn't even know it was here. Met up with a friend here and had lunch. It was nice outside so we opted to eat outside. Always looking for a good chow fun and this was just okay. I'm looking for that wok hay- the little bit of char from the wok. Very generous portion though. D2 got the popcorn chicken and it was also just okay to her, she said she's had better.

Kimberly T.

Yelp
We get the haikan chicken, crispy pork buns, and fried rice. Rice with the haikan chicken is very dry. I love the crispy pork buns. They are the best and very fulfilling. My daughter enjoys the fried rice. It is very portion so you can share with 2-4 people. I love their fried egg custard bun. Must eat right away or it will be soggy. Fast food pick up. Dining in is not ideal since the atmosphere feels like a big warehouse and the chairs and table are like picked up from random garage sales. They should design it better and make it more comfortable and lively to bring in more customers.

Dan Angelo E.

Yelp
Service is simple, they are trying to capture that real night market vibe on getting your food which is nice. Food is great especially the pork belly buns and dumplings. Rice meal is also worth it!

Amy M.

Yelp
Was in the area and looking for a nice place to drop by but wasn't too sure what exactly we wanted, this place was a saver! So much food to choose from and can easily satisfy a party full of indecisive folks The inside is simplistic but has a nice dim lit ambiance. When you go inside, you place your order at the main register by the mahjong tile wall (super cool design!) Then they bring your food out to you within 15-20 minutes. The service was mediocre, the tables could have been cleaned better but not any huge issues beyond that. The food was pretty good overall but some items could stand to be better. -Shanghai dumplings= i liked the flavor but i definitely felt that they were mediocre at best, soup was lacking :( -hainan chicken rice= i liked it, light flavored chicken with lots of rice -beef chow fun=about as expected, pretty good and LARGE portion! -roasted duck with salted egg rice plate = pretty good as well, the duck was not as heavily flavored as you would find from most butcher shops but still good -bbq pork and roast pork rice with salted egg rice plate= my favorite! It has both bbq pork and roast pork?? Couldn't ask for more! Really tasty dish and really made the visit all the better! -five spice beef stomach and liver = really great flavors, the portions were good to share between multiple people. I would say its good to share between 2-4 people. Overall the experience here was very pleasant! I would love to visit again in the future, it's a really nicely put together assortment of dishes and you can't go wrong with dropping by here! It will satisfy the cravings of everyone in your party and leave you full and maybe taking some leftovers home :)

Alyssa B.

Yelp
I like the general concept walking in. The tables and chairs made me reminisce of street food in the Philippines. Along with the see-through kitchen. There is parking and no wait during lunchtime. Tried the roasted/bbq pork rice plate, chicken wings and black honey boba. The rice plate came with steamed veggies. It was good. The chicken wings were good as well, tad on the salty side. This place has so much potential! There's also a coffee shop next door.

Harry M.

Yelp
I'm surprised at the other reviews, this place is a great casual spot! Don't let the name fool you. This spot in indoors but decorated to look like a night market and the experience feels as such. You order at cashier to your left after entering and then they drop it off to you after you find your seat. Sometimes they just call your number so you can grab your food. Similar to what you would have to the food stalls in HK and Taiwan. Very cool atmosphere! My only thing about this place is that it's chilly indoors during winter and they never turn on the heat. And then leave the doors wide open for some weird reason. I definitely have decided to opt for other restaurants more than once over this place because I don't like eating with my jacket on. As for the food! The food is tasty, it definitely feels like night market food but with bigger portions depending on what you order. I personally love the Curry Beef Brisket. You also can't go wrong with the BBQ Pork and Roasted Pork Over Rice. Come here if you're looking for comfort food!

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
The Night Market has a cool concept and the name really popped out to me. There is not much service here, you look at the menus on the walls and order at the counter, then you pick up your order on the pick up counter on the side. There are some tables with stools - inside and outside, it really gives it that night market/street food vibe in Asia. They have multiple different kinds of Chinese food from boxed rice to dim sum/buns to noodles to bbq skewers, and they even have boba drinks, soft serves, and other desserts. I only tried the jasmine milk tea with boba, since I already had lunch prior to coming, so this review is solely based on that drink and my experience. The milk tea was eh, it was a bit bitter with very light creaminess to it with a weird aftertaste to it (turmeric like taste?). I would have to come back to try their food to give them an updated review next time. Overall, I would say the drink would give it a 1 star or 2 stars, but 3 stars in general for the ambience/vibe.

Dorothy L.

Yelp
This place is goooood. Idk why they have low rating reviews but different preferences I guess. Ambience: wouldn't honestly eat here in person since the chairs and tables they set up are suppose to feel like an actual night market so they're pretty flimsy but the ambience is pretty cute. Service: nice and fast. Usually order delivery Food: the pork and char siu here is super super good. The first time I ordered them on delivery was super surprising in a good way. Also highly recommend their custard buns that are super fresh and tasty

Jack R.

Yelp
No wonder this place is empty all the time, especially at dinner time. Boneless Roast duck rice: OMG was this the DRYEST and worst duck I've had in a long time. The skin was cold, and the duck was soooo dry we couldn't even eat it. Waste of $18. Strongly encourage NOT to order this. ZERO STARS. You would seriously have to be on a show like Survivor in the wild to want to eat this. Hainan chicken rice: Dry chicken with a slimy texture. Didn't taste or look fresh. You had to really chew this like some hard chewing gum. HARD PASS! ZERO STARS! Shanghai Dumplings: Average. Small portions that tasted like Trader Joe's. Would skip next time. 3 stars. Black Sesame Dessert: Average. Not great, not horrible. Small cup portion. 3 stars. Coconut pudding: Really chewy, too much gelatin or agar, and it was flavorless. Like chewing on soft plastic. ZERO stars. Red bean pudding: Same weird chewy texture like they added way too much gelatin. You could bounce this like a ball. Very hard to cut, or chew. 2 stars. Plain Porridge: Decent. It was plain and okay. 3 stars. Wonton Beef Brisket with Veggies and rice noodles: Best of the bunch. Decent and would order again. Noodles were cooked okay, and the beef and tripe were soft and flavorful. Jasmine Tea: Wouldn't order this again. Just plain tea served cold. Nothing special. It's hard to imagine with all the restaurants around here how they'll continue to survive with such poor food. Overall I would pass on 90% of what we ordered.

Yelp
Was very excited to hear about a HK-style DPD here in the Bay! And finally had a chance to check it out this week. It's in an offbeat location but guess they needed a warehouse type spot for their setup. We came in between lunch and dinner so not many people. The range of items is good. All the usual, but at the same time nothing too extraordinary you can't get at a regular Chinese restaurant or dim sum joint. We opted for a boxed rice (shrimp and egg) and cart noodles. The cart noodles gives you a nice range of options for you to customize what you want. We thought about the wok hei but again none of the items looked that too special. The only thing I wished we tried were the street skewers -- this would show how close it was to a real HK DPD. But the prices seemed really high for that so we passed. Flavors were ok but wish the cart noodles had much more sauce. I had to ask for extra sauce (which they were happy to provide). All in all a decent place and nice range of choices but nothing that extraordinary and special.

Doppio H.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here twice. First time was Mongolian Beef and second time was Hainan Chicken Rice. Wait time for food was less than 10 minutes. Mongolian beef was ok, probably a little bit too salty. However, the Hainan Chicken Rice was absolutely fire. Tender meat with just the right amount of savory seasoning.

Yelp
You have to come and try this restaurant in South San Francisco that mimics an Asian night market! There is so much food to choose from plus you get a free jasmine tea with Yelp check in! The food here was delicious. Good hearty Chinese comfort food. My favorite was probably the fried chicken skin that were perfectly crispy and the soft egg on the delicious beef over rice. The chicken skin had a fine covering of salted egg that added the salty punch to the fattiness of the skin. The soup noodles were classic Chinese soup noodles and you could add whatever toppings you preferred, nothing crazy unique, but perfect on a cold and foggy day. The lightly roasted with salt skewers were fun to try and cheap to boot. Would want to try more different meats than just the intestine. I would love to come back to try all the other options too. Bring a ton of friends so you can try more! The vibe tries to match that sitting on a plastic stool while watching street vendors cook scene at night markets. I enjoyed watching them put together my soup noodles but would love to see them cook more items out in the open. I'm hoping this post helps to bring them more business so they can afford to have more workers cooking out front!

Danielle M.

Yelp
Pretty convenient little spot right next to a cafe I worked at recently. My brother went over to pick up some goods and got us some shrimp dumplings and Hainan chicken buns. Food had a lighter taste than many dim sum places I go too, but that was good since I wasn't too hungry. Service was ok. I think this spot has potential to grow especially since it's leveraging off street foods.

Mary L.

Yelp
This place still wins my 5-stars review because of how unique the business is. Where else can you find a competitor like them, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area for this type of authentic Cantonese/Chinese casual street foods? Quality food ingredients. Even the warehouse turned into restaurant business fits the mood. Excellent location and excellent customer service. Never had any issues. They do get busy with takeouts. Great vibes. Well maintained and organized. Efficient business. Great wide menu selections. Hong Kong street foods feeling. You can get dim sum items, noodle bowls, popcorn chicken, desserts, main rice plates, milk teas, etc. I think they are quite unique. If you were born in the 1970s or prior, you may enjoy and cheerish this place even more. Reality is they serve the younger generations more. Customer base needs to expand. Hong Kong culture. Old traditions. Open kitchen seen through the windows. Colorful chairs. Plenty of clean tables. Staff will carry foods to your table if you dine in nowadays. There's no other place like it in the San Francisco Bay Area. Food is always delicious and good. Happy place. Public restrooms are down the hallway to the right of the place. Bonus: Not far from San Francisco International Airport and ParkSFO garage (6-9 minutes drive). Easy entrance and exit with lots of parking spaces available. They never disappoint when we visit during travel season. Highly recommended. We keep coming back for more. Worth it. Excellent place to hang out and chill.

Yelp
Review: Poor Quality and Disappointing Experience My recent visit to this restaurant left much to be desired. From the moment I stepped in, it was evident that something was amiss. The lack of acknowledgment or even a basic greeting from the staff set a tone of indifference. Despite my hopes for a satisfying meal, the reality fell short. I ordered honey walnut prawns and shrimp dumplings, with a side of mango boba. The dumplings were passable, but the prawns and boba were a different story altogether. The prawns were overcooked and lacked any discernible flavor, while the boba was a disappointing concoction that was both subpar and exorbitantly priced. Regrettably, I parted with my money this time, but it's a decision I won't repeat. The combination of poor quality and inflated prices makes this establishment one to avoid. In fact, during my visit, I witnessed four other patrons walk out in frustration after experiencing similar disappointment. In conclusion, I urge potential diners to steer clear of this establishment. While the dumplings may offer a semblance of satisfaction, the overall experience is marred by lackluster offerings and a disregard for customer satisfaction. Save yourself the trouble and explore other dining options in the area.

Yelp
This place looks like the night market in Hong Kong. Especially the feeling of this place. The food was nowhere near any markets in Hong Kong. The price was not worth it. If not for my brother, would not have known about this place. Not recommended by this person who has eaten lots of Chinese food in Hong Kong.

Yelp
My husband has been wanting to try this place since they opened. He's like, what if they're just like the night markets in HK???!!!... Pah-leeze. Nothing is the same as when you're in HK. I had to keep my expectations low so I wouldn't be disappointed. When we were in the area for dinner at another restaurant, we swung by afterwards to snag desserts. As much as I wanted to try their dinner and more savory options, I just didn't have room for it. First impressions: The vibe definitely says 'cheap, good street eats like HK' but we're in the Bay so prices won't be at the very least. Basically you're paying Bay prices for really small, mediocre dishes. They're okay but just not worth the price imo. We got D11, deep fried custard baos. Took forever to make but like zero custard in them. The baos weren't very fresh either. We also got the T14, egg puff waffle. This was okay if you've never been to HK and you've never had their waffles, but as I have, it wasn't moist or chewy enough. Overall, they didn't taste super fresh, so not worth the price you're paying. Maybe they're better known for their savory dishes?

Yelp
It was 87 when we went so it was too hot inside with no AC seats are uncomfortable as well menu is hard to read its so damn high up clerk didn't know what meat was in the dish we wanted to order everything was served in take out containers which i hate as my hot soup slowly melts plastic photos online showed dishes they didn't serve my bowl of noodles waiting for my other stir fry dish which was annoying as the plastic keeps melting into my soup as i wait for absolutely nothing so i finally asked them to give it to me before it got cold soup was flavorful fried noodles were ok prices are good for takeout good place to go after the bar at night

Yelp
A bit disappointed because we had to wait for 30 mins for a bowl of congee and an order of Shanghai dumplings. As usual after you order, you are on your own. My 3yo was getting antsy waiting for quite sometime and it was so difficult to flag down someone to ask and follow-up. At other restaurants, congee is usually ready in a couple minutes and dumplings are usually quick too. I think it's best to call and just pick it up so you will Not be wasting your time waiting. In consolation, we were given a lobster shrimp crackers for waiting so long. I'm glad that they acknowledge that the order took a long time and I hope they do something about it.

Yelp
Food was okay. Very reminiscent of the night markets in Taiwan. We ordered the R1: Boneless Roast Duck with rice and duck egg (tasty), R13: Longan Crispy Pork w/rice (a bit too sweet and soggy rather than crispy), Congee with pickled cucumber, preserved egg and minced pork (my mother in law said it was good), and R7 Minced Beef with soft egg over rice (wife enjoyed it). The negative is that we arrived at 2pm on Saturday and there were not many customers but the food took about 25 minutes to come out. I can only imagine how long it might take on a weekday lunch. Hopefully, they are better staffed during the busy times. Ambiance is bare bone with plastic tables and chairs.

Yelp
Solid variety of what's basically Cantonese cafeteria food. Spread is very acceptable but a little less broad than the OG stuff you'd find at many Hong Kong cafes, and the quality, well, matches the atmosphere. Service is decently fast and the vibe is like a hawker centre but not quite one, and definitely not the scale. Plus parking is almost decent.

Yelp
Newly found gem! I have a feeling that I am going to pay a lot more visits here. I ordered a few street eats - beef stomach stew, rice noodle rolls and fried pig intestines- omg they are sooo good, all of them. The pig intestines comes with a plum sauce but I think it would be better it comes with a sweet and spicy sauce. The passion fruit jasmine tea was a checkin bonus and the jasmine milktea were both really nice and refreshing. And they have soft serve ice cream

Yelp
I was having a huge hankering for sesame balls a week ago and was searching on doordash & yelp when I found out the night market sold them. I asked hubby to stop by after work and get them for me. Hubby comes home with a Chinese takeout box filled with three big sesame balls. My mouth began to water, I finally had my sesame balls. They were still warm! They are bigger than a donut hole. I bit into the sesame ball and it was soft, chewy but not too chewy filled with a generous amount of smooth red bean, tasting the sesame seeds. Mmmm it was so gratifying. I would only eat it fresh and warm. Once it goes cold, it gets hard. The pork belly and pork buns were also nom. I've only had takeout that hubby picks up.

Yelp
It's a nice causal decent restaurant with lots of food options. The food came out quickly and it was fresh and hot. The seating is uncomfortable...little bitty kiddy chairs with no back support. It's ok if you're not planning on sitting there for a long time. Check in on Yelp to get a free drink. It's was such a hottt day in San Bruno and there was a heatwave going on. They had the doors open but that didn't help much, it would've been nice if they had a portable fan somewhere just to turn on for hot days. The food was great nonetheless but eating and sweating was just very uncomfortable.

Yelp
The Cantonese term "Da Pai Dong (大排檔)" is based on the pre-WW1 phrase basically meaning 'an independent food stall set up for free on the sidewalk by poor people'. 'Da Pai Dong' stalls have been the backbone of Hong Kong's street food scene since then. However, since WW1, the 'Da Pai Dong' have grown, from simple transportable carts with no permanent location, to registered permanent stalls at set locations with plastic tables and chairs that can be removed and stored every night. In addition, many of these Da Pai Dong stalls have been licensed to store their tables and chairs in the adjacent building in back of where their cooking stall is set up on the sidewalk. These building spaces are usually very small and narrow, but they ARE big enough to house refrigeration units, food storage coolers, drink coolers, electricity grids, and cooking facilities, making the Da Pai Dong capable of preparing far more dishes much more quickly than the original food carts were able to cook just a number of decades ago. Needless to say, the number of diners who can be served since then has increased tremendously. By the 1980s, the Da Pai Dong became a Hong Kong street food institution. According to the Hong Kong Department of Tourism, "Nothing brings more nostalgia and credibility than these specialized street food vendors when conjuring up fond memories of this bustling, global city". Today, the Dai Pai Dong offers Hong Kong style Cantonese Cuisine in outdoor food stalls where affordable bites such as steamy bowls of noodles topped with saucy bits or quick minute wok stir-fries are made to order, and served fresh and hot to hungry pedestrians from as early as breakfast, to satisfying late night cravings. And in my experience, the food here is almost identical to what we in America order at the most authentic Chinese Hong Kong Style, and Seafood Restaurants, in America's Chinatowns. It is a mix of noodle bowls, - dumplings, - BBQ Pork, - Steamed Fish, -Sweet & Sour, -Twice Cooked Pork, - Shellfish in Black-Bean Sauce, - Meats on Rice, -Salt & Pepper Shrimp, - selected Dim Sum & Bao, - Clay-Pot Dishes, - Deep Fried Dishes, - Steamed Garlic & XO Sauce Lobsters, Crabs, Clams, and Cuttlefish, - Beef Stews with Vegetables and Flat Rice Noodles, - Rice Porridge with Century Eggs, - Savory Soups, - Homemade Pickled Roots, - Tofu Vegetarian Stir Fry, - Chili Oil Dishes, - and many other excellent and familiar Cantonese Dishes. The Night Market aims to provide a culinary experience which emulates this essential Chinese street-cuisine. When I ate here before the pandemic, I felt transported to the streets of Hong Kong through the food as well as the atmosphere. And like the Da Pai Dong in Hong Kong, they offer choices here - choices of noodles, broths, toppings, and sides. I long to go here again - and you should go here too, because it feels like Hong Kong in a way that you can Immerse yourself in its culinary culture without having to travel the 18 hours on a plane. Just save the airfare, and use it to buy more food at the Night Market. Just check their website for their upcoming special dishes, like duck and pork belly. These usually sell-out online early, so its ready when you get there. And since the pandemic, most of the best dishes are available To-Go.

Yelp
This place has that nighttime Asian street food fare in one building. Menu is is all over the place from street snacks, dim sum, rice plates, and desserts. The build your own congee menu is very tasty with many options to add. My recent meal was the Hainan chicken with yellow rice, simple and delicious. Definitely recommend trying this place especially if you like Asian food of this style.

Yelp
The food is good but the wait is a little long. Great open space at entry and you find your own seat after placing your order. There are several items to choose from on the multiple menus. One register to the left and pick up is on the other end. The dimsum is fresh and steamed which is exactly what we like.

Yelp
Today we tried some of their new items. The Logan Pork Rice is delicious and it kinda taste like pineapple and sour pork. The Singapore noodles and Beef Chow Fun is really good, enough "wok hay". I love the Chicken Feet chewy texture and it is tasty. The Mixed Sauce Rice Noodle has too little sauce and good thing is that the noodles are not too soft. The Popcorn Chicken is kinda dry and lack of flavor. But the drinks pretty good, the tea flavor is there and good amount of sweetness. There is a lot of space in between tables which is good. They don't really provide any customer service here. Basically, they call your number and you go up and get your own food. :)

Yelp
This place really is a place you should try! The food is very good all across the board. We have not had a dish that was bad and almost every dish we've tried, we would order again when it strikes the mood. Super fun ambiance with cool outdoor seating or fun indoor market vibes. The staff is super friendly and warm towards our young kids. It's a bit of a random location but that guarantees perfect parking where your car will be safe. Great great place! Please support these types of restaurants!!

Yelp
This review is for takeout. I've ordered from them twice for takeout but have yet to eat at the establishment. I'll get around to trying the noodle cart one of these days! The popcorn chicken here is good. I also like the rice plate with roast pork and bbq pork, which comes with a generous serving of meat over cabbage. The rice box also came with salted egg which was a nice surprise! I love salted egg. The roast pork was very good, although the skin was not so crunchy by the time I ate it. The bbq pork was ok but not as flavorful as I expected, and I also would've liked more char on the edges. As for the milk teas, they're ok. I like that they offer them on the menu but I wouldn't come here just for that. The actual boba pearls are the perfect texture though - just the right level of chewiness that I enjoy. I'll be back and I'm looking forward to trying more of their items!

Yelp
Honestly, I wasn't sure I'd ever get to finish this review! And not just because I keep coming back and trying more things to review...ha! When I first heard about The Night Market, I was so excited to check them out, I pretty much made it a point to come here that weekend. However, before I could come back again - BAM! They closed for renovations. Weeks turned into months, months turned into years. So, imagine my excitement (and utter surprise) to learn that they had finally reopened! During the peak of the pandemic, no less... Now, compared to my first visit, everything looks both nicer and cleaner than I recall. While they lost some of their indoor seating after expanding their kitchen, there's more outdoor seating than before, which is ideal post-COVID. Similarly, they've added to their menu as well - along with more options for their existing cart noodles, rice plates, congee, skewers, dim sum, snacks, and desserts/drinks, they also have pastry items (egg tarts, custard buns, pork buns) and a mix of specialties (giant fried squid, roasted pork knuckle, XO sauce noodles). In all, an impressive array of offerings - just like a real night market! -- (#R1) HAINAN CHICKEN W/ YELLOW RICE...$14 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=1NzDpL5JGLlpJOiv9mwqXg) It may not be super authentic, but this was terrific! While the rice could've used more ginger, it was still pretty flavorful and I loved how meaty and tender the chicken was. Plus, it was boneless! -- (#R3) BBQ PORK & ROAST PORK BELLY OVER RICE...$16 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=7AI0-fA8OFMvj0fbUwdTOg) A tale of two meats. The roast pork was excellent (the skin was crispy and each piece was just slightly fatty), but the BBQ pork was just okay - the taste of it was fine, but it needed a bit of char on it. -- DRUNKEN CHICKEN WITH RICE...$14 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=_yiO_rQ1IGJBNEdY1oL4FA) I heard this isn't on the menu anymore, which is a shame. Not only was the chicken really moist (and boneless), but it had the perfect tinge of Chinese wine to it. -- (#R5) CHU HOU BRAISED BEEF BRISKET OVER RICE...$16 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=osufwF0dqPZek5xAGgbv9A) Other than the time they skimped on the beef, this is solid. The brisket isn't stringy, the dish is flavorful, and I liked the gravy, though it's a little more "watery" than I prefer. -- (#S6) FRIED CHICKEN STEAK...$7 (n/a) Not only was this huge, but it was delicious! While the batter holds up well for takeout, it's even better when enjoyed immediately - it's well seasoned, the batter is super crunchy (albeit a little thick), and the chicken is very juicy. -- PORK BELLY STUFFED BUNS...$12 (n/a) This would've been better for dine-in, but it was still pretty decent. The skin lost a lot of its crispiness from steaming in the box during my drive home, but the pork itself was still luscious and flavorful. -- HAINAN CHICKEN STUFFED BUNS...$12 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=_20oWyeX_cJtR26azsIN8Q) This also would've been better for dine-in (the bun was soggy), but the bigger issue for me was how badly it needed more garlic sauce. At least the chicken was still juicy and tender, though. -- BAKED BBQ PORK BUN...$3* (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=W3FZ2VgMhvdTVnh8mZ2XDA) Take a look at them in the display case (past the register) first. The first time I tried this, it was great - golden brown topping, soft bread, sweet and meaty filling. The second time, it was dark brown and super dry. -- EGG TART...$2* (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=jzmDKeQ38_LJoDgo1tdmjA) Not nearly the best I've had, but easily not the worst. The crust was a bit crumbly, but the filling was silky and had a nice, eggy taste to it. -- PINEAPPLE BUN WITH CUSTARD FILLING...$3* (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-night-market-south-san-francisco-2?select=bG1F63dPlBnWUuFC8nrnsw) As with the BBQ pork bun, this was good the first time, but semi-burnt the second. Real shame too, as both the topping and the custard were quite tasty. *Available on weekends only FWIW, I've also tried their siu mai, har gow, cart noodles, and a few of their skewers, but It didn't seem fair to include them (I tried the dim sum items the next day and the noodles and skewers were from my first visit). However, what I will say is that the chicken and dim sum items had the potential to be pretty decent and the more recent photos of their noodles look better than what I had. As far as prices go, they do trend a little higher than your average Chinese restaurant, but the novelty aspect plays a part. Plus, I'd gladly pay more for boneless Hainan chicken! The Night Market - I'm glad you guys are back and thriving!

Yelp
This review comes after using GrubHub and also dine in. Dine in: midsize, dining area, cool access to see behind the counters aka the food area. Since its street food you can grab one of their tables or take it and hang out in the parking lot. Food is always fresh, love the dumplings, taiwanese chicken and pineapple buns.

Yelp
I was craving some really authentic, hole-in-the-wall Chinese food, but my husband found The Night Market on Yelp and wanted to try it. The street food/night market concept is really trendy right now, and I'm sure during the evening and with the right crowd this place would be amazing. During the day the vibe just hits different. The place was pretty empty except for one other couple. They were literally only 3 workers. A young lady who took our order and 2 guys that cooked our food. The menus are on the wall and you place your order with the person in the green booth, then sit down and wait for them to call you once your food is ready. The tables are small and the chairs are uncomfortable, but I guess that is what you would get at an actual night market. The food was terrific. Probably the best Shrimp with Eggs I've ever had. The eggs were so velvety smooth and I loved the addition of peas. The HK Fried Noodles were delicious too. I'd be curious to see if this place is more popular during the evening hours.
