I heard about this place that is walking distance from Sofi Stadium, that is good for a drink and calling a Lyft or Uber.
"Walking distance" is relative, and most Angelinos would probably not walk this distance. But for those of you have ever tried to call a Lyft or Uber from a jampacked stadium you know that this is one of those times where the walk is worth it. Also, mind you, we just attended a sporting event, and we were let out during the day.
The interior has the deep tones of a wine bar, but the screens of a sports bar. Music was pumping, various football games were on the screens, and everyone looked happy.
At that time, all of the tables were taken, except for one which had a "reserved" sign on it. Apparently there is an upstairs, but we didn't know that yet. A server came up to us, asking us if we wanted a drink, and as we were giving that thought, a lady we thought was the manager told the server to sit us at the reserved table. Apparently they were supposed to have arrived a while ago and never showed, so she said that we could just have that table. That initial quick service had us pretty happy, and we wanted to order our drinks right away. Not knowing the menu we got relatively simple drinks: 2 beers, a Moscow mule, and an old fashioned.
About 5 minutes later Hannah, our server, brought us a carafe of water that we really appreciated, and we didn't notice the time slipping by until about 25 minutes later when we had emptied the carafe, but still had no drinks. At that sudden realization, we started to debate leaving. But I didn't want to do that without telling the manager why. So we waited until we found her in the now crowded bar, and just as I was getting up to walk over to her, Hannah came with 2 beers and the Moscow Mule but said they were out of old fashions. Out of old fashions? Well, no drink for me, ...I didn't want to order anything else instead.
While the rest of my party started on their drinks, I went to the manager to ask for the check and to tell her of our experience. Turns out, she is the owner! Her name is Beth, and she was absolutely flabbergasted about our experience and apologized. She explained they were short handed today already when this huge surge of people arrived. In fact, she had been helping doing the dishes (which explains why we couldn't find her), and she would have noticed our lack of service had she been out on the floor.
Beth insisted on letting her give us some food to snack on while we finished our drinks and she also got me to get a drink. She assured me it'd come out before we finish our drinks, and to her word, it did.
The food was actually fantastic! The guys couldn't stop talking about how good the wings were, and the salmon bites were surprisingly good. I think the fries are homemade too! On our check it only had the original 3 drinks, so she had comped the missing drink and the platter of deliciousness.
Both Beth and Hannah were gracious and apologetic, and I really feel that this was a situational boff. I want to come here again sometime soon to have a better experience, and to try out food from the menu!
