"The first, called Nine, is billed as a vibrant daytime spot and is already open on the ninth floor of the historic National building at 205 North Akard Street. As far as the food is concerned, Nine will serve modern European cuisine, with a focus on healthy fare like sourdough pancakes, lemony chicken orzo soup and fresh fish. Nine will be open daily from 7 a.m.to 2 p.m." - Brittanie Shey

I dig The Nines, the women are attractive and active (dancing, drinking and sociable). There is not much negativity from the fellas and the staff assists you the whole night from behind the bar to the front door. Nice location, they are near other bars and restaurants. I have a good time every/time I go.

Google
Bouncer that was there tonight needs to go thru training again or something. Groped an entire group of dudes and asked my non binary partner to tell him what exact gender they are so he knew if he should pat them down. Why not just use the wand and let them go on their way? Definitely needs to become educated so this doesn’t happen to more people. Won’t be coming back.

What a great 70s Burlesque disco night! The entire cast throughout the performance were engaging, talented, and absolutely beautiful. The party continued on the Rooftop where I stayed for a few minutes. I will definitely come back with a few girlfriends to the next show when I'm in town. The Show was held at The Nines! The staff were welcoming and had great drink specials throughout the performance.

So I’m leaving a one star review because if google could let me leave a zero I would most definitely give it to this “club/bar” for being the worst establishment in Deep Ellum. This bar is disgustingly prejudice. I recently just went last Saturday with me and a couple of girlfriends, me being the only guy out the group who is 5’0 foot, the shortest and smallest out of them, and pretty much everyone else inside the bar was literally manhandled and harassed by a security guard for using the bathroom. Pushed me to the ground for no reason. Behind this, told my friend that he was about to put his hands on me while I’m inside the bathroom?? (And so y’all are not confused the bathroom is for both male and females, it’s literally just one bathroom for whoever needs to use it, even has a sign showing that right outside the door) So when I come out I’m literally on the floor confused as ever to be on the GROUND!!! For NO reason!!! Men like him have a big insecurity issue within themselves for you to go out your way and hurt others who don’t pose a threat and are just being themselves and I’m only writing this review for a lawsuit because once I tried to still be the bigger and responsible person after I was the one getting touched for no reason, I tried talking to the bartender, security outside and several other workers to get the security name and all I got was “were not obligated to give out that information” asked to speak to a manager “I’m the manager for the night” apparently every person I spoke with is a manager up there which is beyond hilarious and ridiculous. But I thank god for the support system I have… filed a police report and spoke with a lawyer, it’s tragic people still have to deal with this kind of stuff in 2024.

Hadn’t been out in a while and this was a great place to unwind! Bartender held no punches on the drinks, deejays knew how to keep the party going and no drama just good energy and lots of fun!!

Sunday Funday was a great move here today… so much better this time since Neicy took care of us. She made sure we had everything we needed even down to getting the hookah girls for us.

I have always enjoyed hanging out at the Nines! The service has always been excellent and the bar staff is very friendly! They have a really cool roof top bar! I have seen several fantastic shows there!

Google
Nice dance club in the deep ellum area on Main St. DJ and patrons are friendly and will hype you up. They do have a balcony that looks over deep ellum and into downtown Dallas. 9/10 would.go again

Genesis C.

Yelp
SO FIRE. The slushy drinks are BOMB. Super chill ambiance before 10pm, but after? ITS LIT. Bartenders are super coolio off the don juliiiooo

Azure H.

Yelp
The only bar I frequent in deep ellum now. Good music and great atmosphere. Cool upstairs patio.

Michael C.

Yelp
Great times, nice personable owner of the joint. Just always a good time. This is the type of feel I look for in a bar

Yelp
Wow the nines was quite the experience!! We wanted to go to a club that primarily played hip hop and had saw some good reviews of this place online so we decided to check it out after vinetti's failed to impress us earlier in the evening. We arrived around 10 ish last friday night and it was really empty. I was a little worried that it would be dead...but i guess it just shows how old i am now because thinking back to when i was in my early 20's, the clubs really didn't get packed till 11:30-midnight! The bonus of going early was that cover was $5 a person (free re-entry until 12am), and we got a chance to talk to the staff who were all really nice! That's rare for a club! We explored the upstairs large open rooftop which i absolutely loved! It was well lit and had a nice view of the street. There was a bar upstairs and downstairs which i thought was great as well. Now let me tell you why I like this place. The people watching was SUPERB. Tell me why everyone here can jump and land doing the splits? Chile.... i'm past my 20's.... and if i attempted any of the dance moves i saw.... i would either throw my back out ON THE SPOT or need some icy hot the next day! Everyone was so good at dancing and I was impressed by the music as well. I didn't know most of the songs but my husband was LOVING it and so was the crowd. There were really good vibes , especially for how crowded it got towards the ended of the night. There was no drama, no fighting, no conflicts. When we had left Vinetti's we told a woman we were going to Deep ellum and she told us to stay safe. This is only our 2nd time here at night and I felt completely safe at the nines. We will absolutely be back the next time we can sneak away for a date night! Thank you nines and staff for a great night!

DoNisa H.

Yelp
They are always a fan of the arts and if you haven't been to show you're missing out. The staff is amazing from the bouncers looking out for you to the Bartenders making your drinks with your custom additions. Highly recommend you stopping by for a show, night cap or just to see the place. They have 2 floors full of music and vibes so get out there and dance or just watch as you sip!

Don S.

Yelp
Very loud it has a strip joint atmosphere I wouldn't bring a girl here. Just low class dive bar

Amber G.

Yelp
Saw a drag show here! Laughed a ton, great drinks and atmosphere. Some of the girls even sang live!

Christine F.

Yelp
The Nines is a such a cool place! It's a welcoming space for everyone! Some of my favorite memories are dancing on the rooftop. It's also very safe 10/10

Najah J.

Yelp
Imma go ahead and give this 1 star! Paid $20 dollars for parking. $10 a piece for entry with no rentry and nobody dancing everyone just sitting. Music was good. Just vibe was off.

AleShae H.

Yelp
So this was my first time going here, let's start off with a few things: We arrived about two and a half hours before they closed which was fine and it was all the time we needed. We didn't know Mike Jones (Rapper) was performing so they charged a cover to get in. Not a big deal, I honestly didn't know what to expect walking in. Now to enter the building, there was one way in and out and it was a fairly small doorway. It was too crowded by the door with people trying to leave or enter. There are two floors, to get upstairs near the enter/exit door you need a wristband because I believe it was VIP, when I asked about the wristbands the bouncers answer was all over the place and I eventually left it alone. I got a amaretto sour and it was Delicious. The best one I've had so far. Now I was hanging out with people so I was able to go upstairs but before I do that, the line to get upstairs by the stage was ridiculous. You practically had to shove people because people were all over the place and God forbid I lost the people I was hanging with because I couldn't be in the same place because I kept getting pushed back. But it's a club so don't expect it to be exactly like how you see on tv. Being upstairs was nice, the breeze, the overview, the music, everyone having a good time and it wasn't too crowded. I would recommend Going here but here's a few things I recommend: 1. See if there's a cover charge 2. Check to see who's performing so you know what kind of event you're walking into. 3. Have fun and stay safe

Alexa R.

Yelp
Absolute worst place in deep ellum. Harassing the women and men. So strict for absolutely no reason. They check my party extensively and when we got inside, there were ZERO people inside. So boring and we had to throw away all our personal items to get in. Never go here. Embarrassment of an establishment. Sad.

Richa T.

Yelp
We came here a while back on a Saturday night and it was a bit disappointing. Pros: + Gorgeous rooftop Cons: - Entire area was dead - Music wasn't my cup of tea - Charged cover - modest cost. However, given the quality, I wouldn't recommend the cover

Anthony G.

Yelp
Great layout and music options. Plenty of different drinks to pick from and staff is easy going. Great rooftop views

Corey S.

Yelp
The Nines is a bar that I stumbled upon and long considered looking to go to while visiting the Dallas area. I arrived shortly after attending an event in Oak Lawn and also struggling to find a parking space. There was a long line and I ended up paying a $10 cover that Saturday night. This bar also has an upstairs patio overlooking Deep Ellum. There was still room to move but it was on the small side. The DJ played some excellent music. So far this is a great place for everyone to hang out in the Dallas area. Especially if you are looking for good hip hop music.

Marianne C.

Yelp
The Nines have been so many different bars before but it has been for a few years now. For the most part? I only come in here for the Krampus Society Walk and one other time to use their restroom. Typical bar with cold drinks, semi dark ambiance and a pretty nice roof top to hangout with friends on a nice day/night.

Jason R.

Yelp
Great night club in deep ellum with an amazing staff. Super friendly and fun environment! If you are 21+, must check it out.

Yasmin O.

Yelp
easily a 1/5 because looking up Black clubs this one comes up but at the door there are three bouncers and one of them is a small little white man who likes to argue with women as if he is a woman and non of the other "men" that work here care either. Then once you enter the music is okay but the volume is so low that you can hear people's conversations so it feels more like a lounging area

Crystal C.

Yelp
Never had been here before and happened upon a Saturday day party as we were walking through the area. The music was great and the people at the door really cool told us a little about the event so we decided to check it out. Only $5 cover and drink specials all day. Great crowd all day very lively music and the roof deck had a nice breeze on a hot day despite lack of coverage. We spent a few hours there and would go back again!!

Courtney C.

Yelp
This is my "go to" hang out spot on the weekends. The staff is friendly, music is good, and there are never any issues! I've been going the past year and never once saw a fight break out. People here are just cool!

Connie P.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place on a Friday night around midnight looking to dance and have a good time...going off the Yelp reviews we thought this would be the place to be. We approach the front door, the bouncer tells us there's a cover - we have a big group and none of us feel like paying to go inside because there was zero people in line and every other bar/club seemed busier than this place. We turn to walk away and they rush after us and tell us it's fine, they push us in...low and behold there were less than 10 people in the whole club. Dead. On a Friday night at 12am. The DJ was playing some 2000s' hits and there were some plastered people dancing it up solo on the dance floor, can't fault them for trying to have a good time. I feel like it has great potential to be a happenin' place, they have all the qualities: lights, live DJ, newish pop songs, a bar, a rooftop. But I'm not sure what's going on here. Maybe because it's located a bit off the main strip of Deep Ellum, people just don't feel the urge to walk a couple of blocks to visit The Nines. I'm not sure what went wrong for them, but we didn't stick around to find out. We ended up leaving after five minutes in search of some busier places. Maybe next time I'm in Deep Ellum late night, I'll give them another try but it just wasn't doing it that night.

Yelp
Fantastic food! The best bar bites and paninis will totally surprise you from this alternative lifestyle friendly club. Comfy velvet couches to chill with your friends while you munch, then two huge dance floors (one on the roof) to get busy after. They always have fun events going too, with burlesque and aerialists and just plain weirdos :) Get the C&C board for a visual and taste treat. Bri, the bartender, will always treat you right!

Ciera R.

Yelp
Love this place so much. Alan is a wonderful man. Such nice staff, doorman, bartenders, etc. I will be back.

Marjo G.

Yelp
I might be giving this rating prematurely for I was only inside Red Light Lounge for about 1.5 hours, but here is my rating so far: + Plenty of seats and tables that weren't for bottle service, so you are able to sit down if you find a vacant chair + Sound system was as good as you can make it for an outdoor rooftop patio setting + There is a water jug so you don't have to keep bugging bartenders for water! :) + You can really get close to the rooftop DJ, as in, you can turn the turntable knobs if you wanted to. But don't be rude, so don't do that :P + You get a pretty good view of the Dallas skyline complimented by the nice warm patio lighting * I paid $15 cover to see Jai Wolf on 10/3/2015 * I did not need to use the restrooms, so I have no fair evaluation of that

Dora H.

Yelp
Seemed like a decent place. There's a cover charge to get in but it was only $5. It was like 11pm when we got there and very empty. Cute two seater couches in the back, good music and cheap drinks. The drinks could've definitely been stronger.

Rebecca O.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to go to in Deep Ellum. The rooftop is always nice to hang out on when the weather permits and the music is always bumping!

Margaret A.

Yelp
Always something fun going down here, and the bartenders are generous if you are! ;) Monday nights are hilarious with Cards Against Humanity, which is excellent for those of us with a twisted sense of humor, lol. Wednesdays rocks out new wave, industrial, and goth music. Thursdays are great with EDM and a high energy crowd. Plus you never know what sexy burlesque acts you'll catch here, skilled aerialists up on the rooftop, or what interesting folks you'll meet at the monthly Abnormal Formal at this counter-culture club. I feel at home here at The Nines, where you can let your freak flag fly!

David L.

Yelp
TRY. THE. FOOD. Seriously cool space both upstairs and on the roof. The new renovations are fantastic additions and I've seen amazing performances from local DJs and aerial performers. If you're looking for werid, you'll find it here. But now that they have late-night noms it's even better because I don't have to hunt for a snack elsewhere. We're talking fresh, scrach-made, legit bites to satisfy you, not freezer-burned deep fried trash. worth the money fo sho.

H C.

Yelp
My first yelp review because I LOVE this place. This is a gorgeous place to hangout and the food is amazing - fantastic chef. Gorgeous velvet sofas, great music but still perfect for conversation. The owners are amazing and the bartenders make you feel at home. Rooftop view. Perfect for a birthday or special event. Fun for an entire evening or a quick stop for meeting up with friends.

Ryan H.

Yelp
The Tuesday night karaoke host is extremely rude and condescending. She takes frequent long breaks and plays random music instead of letting people sing. She has a constant bored look on her face and never actually sings herself. Don't recommend.

Katy C.

Yelp
World-class food and cocktails served up by chef Margaret Alvis - my favorite is the cheese & charcuterie board, because it's always a little different, and usually has something I've never tried before on it. Top-notch audiophilic stimulation, especially when The Guild plays on Thursdays. Beautiful rooftop dance floor with a good view of Deep Ellum and the downtown Dallas skyline - best for dancing while stargazing. Counterculture crowd and spectacle - fantastic costumed formals and a circus of aerial, burlesque, and suspension performances. Never a dull night. Professional & progressive bar staff - let them know if you have any people problems (rare for me here), and they'll be taken care of quickly & quietly.

Mechi R.

Yelp
This place is super fun. The drinks are strong the staff is friendly. The music and the DJ are awesome. I was a bit shocked that we were charged an automatic 18% gratuity at 5:30pm for two drinks...

Ailene S.

Yelp
Came out here on a Saturday night and really enjoyed the music selection. There were two DJs, one upstairs and one downstairs that were both bumpin'. The upstairs patio had an aerial show and the vibe was chill. Downstairs was a bit hectic and some of the things I saw on the dance floor were questionable! Definitely a place I would recommend for a drop in on a night out

Carolyn P.

Yelp
I came to this bar on 9/22/17 on a Friday night near midnight. I was waiting forever at the bar to get a drink when the bartender finally got to me. she said "NEXT" and we made EYE CONTACT and I was half way done giving her the order of my drinks (I had several for my group) when she flat out turned away and went to the other side of the bar and assisted another individual. I was so furious! I left. The bartenders downstairs are much better and it was a funky 90's vibe.

Brittney J.

Yelp
My husband and I went for a night out last weekend. Stumbled upon his place and decided to give it a try. We really enjoyed ourselves. DJ was on point, bartenders were super cool and the atmosphere was nice. Tried a green tea shot for the first time, so there's that. We'll be back!

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Red Light is a small intimate club with a pretty good sound system and fun cocktails featuring Deep Eddy Vodka. It's a small venue and can get pretty packed depending on the artist. There aren't many clubs/lounges that have trance music come through so I was pretty excited to hear Red Light Lounge hosting Protoculture. It wasn't very packed when we first arrived around 11 and by 12:30 the club was filled with people dancing. I was impressed with the clean up crew. They were quite efficient. It's not a dress to impress type lounge-it's a grungy relaxed bar. Depending on the line up- I see myself there again. P.S. If you're a dude and you're poop shy- drop your deuces at home because the toilet stalls are sans doors.

Savoiya G.

Yelp
The nines is my absolute favorite club in Deep Ellum!I end just about every Saturday night here and it never disappoints !Cheap drinks and rooftop dance floor with a gorgeous view of Dallas !love love love the nines!

Arthur B.

Yelp
This has to be the worse bar in Deep Ellum and that's saying a lot! They advertised a big Spring Fling and claimed to gave three special guest plus Djs up and down stairs. We arrived around midnight and paid the $5 cover only to walk into am empty bar! We stayed until almost 2am and in total there were only around 22 people in the whole bar including the staff. The bartender down stair was cute, but that's about it! She was hired simply for her looks and not for her bar-tending skills...a current trend that's hurting a lot of bars! I ordered a rum punch and she had to look up how to make it on her cell phone, then told me they didn't have the ingredients. So, I asked for a couple other drinks...she didn't know how to make them either. Then claimed to be out of everything that required her to actually make a drink. So, I asked for a draft beer....they don't have draft beers!!! So, we headed up stairs and got yelled at by the upstairs bartender for daring to try to go to the restroom...it was our first time there we didn't know they didn't have separate men and women's restrooms. The upstairs Dj was horrible and I don't know how ant Dj can call themselves a Dj when they have a patio with around 11 people ignoring his set and looking bored as hell. We only stayed as long as we did because the downstairs Dj was awesome and my girlfriend wanted to dance...if they can't attract a crowd on a Saturday night after advertising for a Spring Fling then this place won't be around long...and there were no special guest to be found!!!

Aliciana M.

Yelp
It was kinda dead, loved the rooftop but very quiet for a Thursday night. The drinks were strong and well priced.

Demetrius W.

Yelp
We were in the neighborhood having dinner. The thumping music drew us to the Nines afterwards. It's very nicely decorated inside, I absolutely loved the oversized grey leather booths. The real gem though is the rooftop patio. There's a separate dj booth, another bar, a large dance area, plenty patio seating, and a jumbo video screen. There are also great views of downtown Dallas.

P H.

Yelp
Venue: -has rooftop -washroom stalls have no doors thus no privacy -snug dancefloor with a few stools to sit in the back -mixed drinks are ~$8 Service: -the venue is kept clean throughout the night, empty drinks are tossed and any spills are cleaned up immediately Sound: -bring earplugs cause it can get a bit loud -the speakers appear small but packs a good punch Parking: -plenty of $5 parking lots nearby but actually finding a spot will be a challenge on a Fri/Sat night.

Janel E.

Yelp
I had my wedding party here this past Saturday and it was a blast! I had never thrown my own big party before and the venue helped out a lot with putting it together. The club manager came to the club the day before during their closed hours and allowed my mother and I to check out the venue and plan for the party the next day. They had just redone the landscaping on the top deck and it looked quite beautiful! I asked them if they could provide extra tables and seating and the club manager got me 5 banquet style tables at no charge. He also helped me decorate the day of the party! He set up the sound booth so I could play my 80's playlist, set up lights, and even helped us take down the decorations at the end of the party. The view is lovely upstairs (where we had the party) and the staff was pleasant. Everyone had a spectacular time to say the least. I know a party is what you make it but the Red Light Lounge went above and beyond to help ensure everything went off without a hitch. Thanks, Red Light! You are lovely people.

Bianca L.

Yelp
We came here on Saturday for the first time since it changed into The Nines. The overall ambiance is ok. There is house/techno played on the lower level and hip hop on the upper level. We stayed on the lower level for most of the night. There were many people dancing with glow items and hula hoops which was cool. The downstairs DJ played some of the best music that I have heard in many years!!!! My only grievance was how disgusting the downstairs bathroom was and I have been to many clubs and none have been as gross as that one!!! There was no paper towels and toilet paper at first until the staff brought some and both toilets had issues throughout the night every time we went. Not cool! Other than that, we had a good time, drinks were good and it was a great night!

Armando M.

Yelp
Had our LULAC school supply fundraiser here. Place got packed! Definitely recommend the grilled cheese.

Purnima L.

Yelp
Went for the promotional $6.99 lunch buffet and it was really disappointing. We reached there around 2:10 and most of the food trays were expected. Ok, so it's my mistake of going late when the lunch will close around 3:00pm. But many people are still coming and there is no food, hygiene is zero.. whatever was left in the tray was already cold.. chicken biryani had no chicken pieces, egg masala had no egg, the only thing I are was rasgulla and that was the only dessert. Probably this is what we will get for $6.99...

Ace F.

Yelp
I don't get out much when I'm at home because of work and family. But when I travel for work I try to experience the local atmosphere. Found this place near the hotel and checked out some yelp reviews and decided to check it out. The upstairs is definitely much more my then I expected. Comfortable and inviting. Music not too loud and crowd not too rowdy. Very nice. Thought I might just have a drink or two and call it a night, but after chit chat with very sweet woman I decided to stay longer. I just acquired another property in the area and I think I will be a regular... see ya next month "B"

Dominique W.

Yelp
This was probably one of the worst clubs downtown, overpriced drinks I paid 44$ for 3 shots (Don't ask me why I paid it because I don't even know) "drink specials" was just 20% Malibu 60% juice 20% ice... finally i just stopped spending my money here. They pick and choose who has to pay to come in. Overall disappointed in this club, won't be back. Great DJ though!

Regan A.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere! The patio has a great view of downtown, and a nice chill vibe. Inside they have these cool booths which are great to get close with friends and chat. Recently tried the food and it was delicious. The pork belly kimchi sliders are perfectly sweet and savory. Definitely going back to try the cocktail list too.

Jonna B.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Food, drinks, and jaw dropping entertainment! Saw a burlesque show with some friends and enjoyed complimentary appetizers that the kitchen was debuting. The rooftop setup is incredible -- breath taking view of the skyline, as well as professional aerial rigging! Love this place!

Sam W.

Yelp
Good people making good times happen. If you're tired of the usual, check out the events calendar here and get out of your rut.
