Yelp
We stumbled upon this place on a Friday night around midnight looking to dance and have a good time...going off the Yelp reviews we thought this would be the place to be.
We approach the front door, the bouncer tells us there's a cover - we have a big group and none of us feel like paying to go inside because there was zero people in line and every other bar/club seemed busier than this place. We turn to walk away and they rush after us and tell us it's fine, they push us in...low and behold there were less than 10 people in the whole club. Dead. On a Friday night at 12am.
The DJ was playing some 2000s' hits and there were some plastered people dancing it up solo on the dance floor, can't fault them for trying to have a good time.
I feel like it has great potential to be a happenin' place, they have all the qualities: lights, live DJ, newish pop songs, a bar, a rooftop. But I'm not sure what's going on here.
Maybe because it's located a bit off the main strip of Deep Ellum, people just don't feel the urge to walk a couple of blocks to visit The Nines. I'm not sure what went wrong for them, but we didn't stick around to find out.
We ended up leaving after five minutes in search of some busier places. Maybe next time I'm in Deep Ellum late night, I'll give them another try but it just wasn't doing it that night.
