"This terrace evokes an Italian-villa feel with terra-cotta tiles, wrought-iron lamps, and potted olive trees, complemented by an arresting downtown skyline and a dramatic stone ogre statue by the pool. The space greets guests with a distinctive basil-geranium-thyme scent and serves elegant poolside fare — from artful crudités to delicate prawn rolls — alongside expertly made, fairly priced beverages; the lounge is especially inviting in the evening when the rooftop seating opens at 5 p.m." - Susannah Chen

You got to come here. Young people beware, you might find good vibes and people not looking at their phone all the time lol. Please come support this amazing bar and the incredible bartenders.

I love this place! Music is good, they make really good drinks, the owners and staff are very friendly and personable, and you can tell they are very passionate about their business. The bathrooms are nice and clean and the bar overall has a very comfy and beautiful vibe. I Love the exposed brick and wood features. The lighting is perfect too!

This is a relatively unknown quaint bar in bar in Wilmington, Delaware. It has local jazz bands every Thursday Friday, and Saturday nights. It's a family-owned business and the family does all of the service behind the bar. All of the people there are fun and lovers of jazz, rhythm and blues, and reggae.

Alexandra Jordan

Google
Close friends of ours let us in on this local gem! The sparkling clean just polished bar is just a preview of the amazing service you will receive when you sit at the bar. Though it was my first time visiting I felt as though I was among family members and friends enjoying live jazz music. This truly is a special place because the genuine warmth and joy cultivated here is a rare find. I can’t wait to come back!

Google
Very friendly staff and owner! Love the ambiance. The entrance is easy to miss.

Google
Perfect amount of lighting you want in a bar. Has live music on Thursdays and Fridays. I had a delicious German dunkel beer that was a great deal. Food would make this place complete. Super friendly bartender.

It was my first time here and I loved it and will come back more. The music is very relaxing and good. The crowd is good as well and professional age 30’s +. Definitely a good place for a date. It’s not loud you can have a good conversation with someone while enjoying the music. $3 cover fee cash only the front door security are nice and respectful.

Absolutely amazing little bar. Had a great conversation with the friendly staff. Billy and Linda are the most generous, amazing people I have met in a long time. They treat you like family. The live music was a nice surprise. Will be coming back!

Yelp
Amazing spot in Wilmington! Chill vibe with great jazz and blues, low lighting and wonderful atmosphere. It seems to attract the most wonderful clientele who are all immensely kind, laid back folks. Drinks are solid, service was great! Visiting Nomad is by far one of the best experiences I've had yet in Wilmington!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice spot. At the right times, there's live music. The crowd is real people. Good vibe. Personable bartenders.
google avatar

Yelp
Great music, good drinks and good service at reasonable prices. A true gem and a favorite.

Yelp
Nomad bar was a nice time! Live music and reasonably priced drinks. The space is really narrow, and can space can be a bit tight. Due to the live music, conversations can be a little hard to hear but you'd be here to enjoy the music anyway!
google avatar

Yelp
dirty martini really enjoyed this bar! stopped in for an afternoon cocktail and was blown away by the service, interior, music and drink! don't miss this great spot!

Yelp
Its the best hidden gem of a place with live jazz bar in wilmington, anytime hands down. The place is cozy and has an exhaustive collection of bourbon drinks. The bar tender is the friendliest person I have ever met, polite and understanding. It gets filled late by 11ish on Thursday and Fridays. But the vibe is old school mostly filled with known and regular costumers from around the place. A must visit place when in town.

Yelp
Three of us went here Saturday night for some drinks and live music. This was my first time here so I have no idea if this is common or not, but Nomad had a really good jazz band playing AND on their TV's had Mothra vs Godzilla playing. Never have I seen just an amazing mix of the arts that satisfied my ADD so well. Overall it was a really good experience. The bartender was fantastic, drinks were great, we had 2 beers and 3 whiskey drinks and the total was around $32 which really is not bad at all. The mix of people here was probably my favorite thing. There were grey haired men in suits, there were twenty-something women dancing, it was all very laid back and very chill.

Yelp
We came here for a company hh-decent drinks. They had some quick bites for us...deviled eggs, chicken tenders....not bad at all. There was a decent amount of people at the bar for a Wednesday. There's no sign outside so it's hard to tell that it's a bar. Located on 9th and Orange.

Yelp
What a diamond in the rough! Nomad is truly a hidden gem in Wilmington DE. Finding a parking spot on the street wasn't an issue when we discovered Nomad last Friday night. AND there's NO cover!! Wow. You could hear the beautiful live jazz music a block away, and the artists were amazingly friendly. The inside of Nomad is so cozy and inviting. The style is quite modern, and the bar is beautifully designed. The bartenders are quick to serve you with a warm smile. I believe they have about 8 rotating draft brews and several speciality cocktails. Their wine menu seemed extensive too. Also, the locals are extremely friendly! They say this is a local favorite- I completely see why :) I'd be here often if I lived in Wilmington!

Yelp
I should only give this place 1 star to keep people away and save my favorite little bar. I must be honest, this is the biggest hidden gem in Will. Great live music, great company, great drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
I never know what to say to someone about this place. But my suggestion depends on the person. The question is: would the person feel safe walking on North Orange Street at night? If they're like me and like a little adventure, then sign them up. This place is great. No food on-site. And I say this in the kindest of way-- I wish they served hot dogs. There's something strangely perfect about a good hot dog at a hole-in-the-wall. But the Goldfish are good enough for me.

Yelp
Going to Nomad is like stepping into someone's living room during a live music jam session. It's dark, it's comfortable, and laid back. The interior is very long and a little narrow. The bar is along one of the walls. There is table seating in the back, but you need to get there early to secure a table. The band plays by the front door. The band is fantastic. You can tell that the musicians love what they do. They're not there just because they get paid - they are there because they love the music and love the bar, and it shows. The crowd is older. My group was between 22 and 27, and we were the youngest people there by far. I ordered simple mixed drinks while I was there, and they were reasonably priced and fairly strong. They do not serve food. The location is in a pretty dimly lit area of Wilmington, and street parking sometimes forces you to park several streets away. On your walk to the bar, there can be some people that accost you asking for money or other things. Some of the girls in our group had open solicitations made to them while they were walking towards the bar, which made them very uncomfortable. This obviously has nothing to do with Nomad itself and doesn't affect the rating by any means, but it's something important to be aware of.

Yelp
When people ask me what Nomad is like, I say "sort of like the bar in the Overlook Hotel from The Shining". Well, that is without Jack Nicholson and Lloyd. But there's something about Nomad that feels classic, like it's been here before. The vibe, that amazing bar, the expert staff and those delicious cold drafts and perfectly created drinks. Why would you ever want to leave? I also had the chance to play a gig at Nomad, and the vibe was crazy, with folks from various walks of life making Nomad a great melting pot of fun.

Yelp
This is a great place to start the night, meet a friend, or just chill . A bar with real bartenders I LOVE IT. I have had moscow mules, dark and stormy, gimmlet, give me somthing good, etc. I have liked them all. I think on thursday's and fridays they have a live bad maybe all weekend i am not sure.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Wilmington!! Live jazz music. No food except for bowls of goldfish (my fav!) or chex mix. OK beer selection, some craft beer on tap. Not many places to sit, but plenty of room to dance in close quarters. Big fan!
google avatar

Yelp
Tucked away off Orange Street is an inviting jazz bar with a melting pot of patrons, exposed brick walls, a fine selection of craft beer and live music every Thursday to Saturday (no cover charge). The Nomad hosts live music three days a week, Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights from 9p.m. to 12:30p.m., with an additional jazz jam from 4p.m. to 7p.m. on Saturday. If your new to Wilmington, visiting, or just looking for something new, then look no further than the Nomad. Parking is available on the street, or there's an open parking lot located one block down Orange, accesible via 8th & Orange Streets. The flat lot is free after 8p.m. during the week, and free all-day Saturday & Sunday. Free goldfish are abundant, as the Nomad doesn't offer food. Or have something delivered from one of the other nearby restaurants, menus for Extreme Pizza & DiMeo's are behind the bar.

Yelp
Stopped in here on Friday night with friends for one drink. This must be a real bar because there are no fruity girly drinks, which is all I drink because apparently I'm a princess according to one of my friends.I think the music was jazz? or there was a jazz flute...not really my thing but it was still fun.
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
There is a live jazz club in Wilmington? I thought jazz clubs were extinct species in this city. I'm glad to see there is one existing and thriving! Nomad does not charge a cover to enter and the space is small. To say this place gets crowded is an understatement. You actually walk by the musicians as they are playing when you enter. The bar staff is nice and they have a good selection of craft beers. Don't show up hungry because they do not serve food. Due to this fact, I would not recommend this place, as a first stop on a date, but it is a nice place to end a date. The exposed brick adds a nice decorative touch. I could not help myself from thinking what Wilmington must have been like in the 1950s and 60s when jazz ruled. Being in Nomad transported me back to an era gone by.

Yelp
Great bar As many have said its a great melting pot of all different types of people and everyone is there to listen to music and have a good time.
google avatar

Yelp
The best bar in Wilmington. Great crowd, awesome service and an unbelievable music scene. Get there.

Jonathan N.

Yelp
Great place to hang out and chill. A wide variety of bands to enjoy. Our favorite place to hangout in Wilmington.

Yelp
This intimate, dive bar is a gem in Wilmington. It may be the best bar in the city with a lively crowd, great music and fun bartenders. They don't serve food so get a bite before you go!
google avatar

Kesha S.

Yelp
Very chill spot. Nice ADULT crowd, great music, good drinks. One of those places you just have to support, because you don't want it to go away.
google avatar

Shawn B.

Yelp
My favorite jazz bar. I love the craft beer selection. You can't beat free jazz and good beer. Eat before you go. They don't serve food. Always a nice grown and sexy crowd.
google avatar

Jake M.

Yelp
Great place - hard to find. Walk down Orange and listen for the music. Chill place to hang and listen to jazz. Bartenders are cool, had some great laughs with them.
google avatar

Jason Y.

Yelp
When walking up to the door I was extremely skeptical, however this bar is by far the best live music and jazz spot in Wilmington. The people, like the music were a perfect blend of diversity and inclusion. A must when in the area
google avatar

Meghan D.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar with wonderful ambience. The bartenders are friendly, the beer list is extensive, and the crowd is a good mix. They often have live music, ranging from classic ((and excellent!) jazz musicians, to homegrown Wilmington indie band New Sweden. It can get a little loud sometimes - great place for live music, but not always the best for conversation.
google avatar

Connie C.

Yelp
Place is small but super fun. We were expecting jazz but got island music instead ---equally fun!!! The bartender with the bold head and black glasses was awesome!! He was on it--refilled water and wine constantly. We also ordered food from a different restaurant to be delivered to us. There's no kitchen so don't come hungry. Last, we walked and honestly it was not that bad and I'm pretty fancy pants ;-)
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
Honestly a little surprised I can give a bar that doesn't serve food a five star rating but I guess I chalk it up to the free gold fish(pepperidge farm) they have sitting out. Great beer selection, even better liquor selection, and it is one of the most perfect bars for me due to its ambiance. You can tell there are a ton of locals because everyone knows each other but it is purposely dark and it plays incredible music.
google avatar

Joshua T.

Yelp
I'd be here every weekend if I could. Really nice music, great drinks- never had a bad Manhattan here - awesome atmosphere. Great and interesting mix of ppl. Not to give away a secret, but one of the best places to ring in the New Year.
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem of Wilmington. Bring your own food and do drinks, complemented by music or friendly discussions with friends and strangers alike. Rotation of music (posted on their Facebook page) typically between Wed-Sat. Also a crowd that hangs out afterwork for happy hour drinks and casual chat.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
One of the best jazz bars in the area. It's authentic. A great vibe that cannot be easily matched or recreated in Wilmington.
google avatar

Thea L.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this places last Friday after the sixers game. What caught my attention was the beautiful jazz I heard from the outside. In side was warm, and everyone was extremely kind. I just had a glass of Riesling and great conversation with a local. I'll definitely be back soon. I was told every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday they have a new band ( which they post on their Facebook page),
google avatar

Robin K.

Yelp
Friendly people and staff. Great music, very clean. Will definitely go back!

Peter N.

Yelp
While working in Wilmington, I heard the sound of a live band coming down a nondescript street. I followed the music to an unmarked storefront with a neon open sign displayed in the blackened window. To my surprise, the music was coming from an amazing bar called Nomad. The bar is very clean. It features a variety of beer, wine, and liquor. The staff is attentive, talented, and friendly. The live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is very enjoyable. The clientele that I met are warm, friendly, and intelligent people that I now consider lifelong friends. Although I do not live in Wilmington, I found a home at the Nomad Bar.

patrick m.

Yelp
Great bar. Amazing live jazz music on the weekends. Exposed brick walls gives the place a very warm and inviting feeling. Employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. I love going there!

Venu G.

Yelp
Prob one of the best bars in Wilmington. The best patrons, the best service, the best music, the best owners. You won't find any bedazzeled dragons on tee shirts in this bar. The prices are more then fair and I struggle with telling people about it. I want to keep it my little secret but Linda and her husband (owners) deserve all the guests they can get. Get in there early as the place gets packed. Shake hands with the staff and they'll remember you for life. Cheers!

Erin Z.

Yelp
Being a newly relocated couple from FL, my wife and I were having a hard time finding something that fit our style. This place has great music (jazz, reggae, rock, etc.) and it has great personality. The owners are wonderful and so are the people that go there. They don't have a large sign so it seems private but once you get inside it's very homey. We'll be regulars here for sure.

Chris P.

Yelp
Excelent time... great atmosphere. I've had nothing but fun everytime I go in. Excelent service. Awesome place to hang out and have some fun...

Matthew M.

Yelp
It's the only spot in Wilmington that is jazz-centric. Aside from the Grand, which does feature great artists but isn't exactly a "pop in any time" type of joint, this is the hot bed of local talent. I would like to see more music through the week, but with the current market I can understand weekends. The highlight of this place, other than the great beer selection, is the Saturday afternoon jam sessions. I never knew how many great players were in Wilmington, and I look forward to getting schooled every Saturday. As another review said, it's the place to get away and get a nice stiff drink.. but the tunes are nice, too!

George J.

Yelp
Excellent live jazz Wed.or Th.-Saturday , begins around 9:00 PM. Owner is a musician and is known to sit in with many of the acts. Last Friday the band was exceptional but she did not join them while I was there. Good service, professional bartenders, craft beer on tap, no food but they have menus for delivery, Philly jazz club feel without the big cover.

Lauressa M.

Yelp
Went there with a group of 5 on Saturday for the 4-7PM jazz. Incredible music, super friendly atmosphere- staff and musicians. A great place to hear some really top notch jazz and to network with other musicians. Stop on by- you will not be disappointed.

Milko F.

Yelp
This is the place to go when you don't want to be seen, but want a stiff drink in an un-assuming place where you are surrounded by people with jobs who don't ask you where you work, because they are there for the same reason you are... to forget about their day and get on with their life. Overall this is a great place with a good beer list and doesn't water down the liquor, but needs to add liquor/mixed drinks to their happy hour specials.
