There's many excellent hotels to choose from in Mumbai- a place that in itself is as fabulous as can be. In this region defined by adorable people , making a hotel stand out can be a challenge. But Oberoi Nariman Point where I stayed has not only taken up this challenge but , in my humble opinion , appears to have redefined what hospitality means. This is the key takeaway of my weeklong stay at this hotel. Be it its housekeeping staff , concierge staff, reception , the wonderful people that man its restaurants and dining , mid and higher level management - one key theme defines them all: hospitality, courtesy , politeness , and a marvellous ability to make the guest feel at home away from home. This 'soft' aspect of the Oberoi complements the infrastructural , dining and other related aspects of the hotel too. While I did not see them, but these delicate features of the hotel would not be possible without the 'invisible staff'- cooks, cleaners , security people, management assistants and interns and so on - who one does not see and interact with. The philosophy of able, excellent and warm hospitality the defines the Oberoi NP is internalised very well by its entire staff- which redounds to their credit , of course , but ultimately to senior management of the hotel. In a nutshell, from the proverbial A to Z of hospitality , the Oberoi NP , has it gives it all. I had a great time, so much so I am considering a repeat visit and stay.
