"The Ocean House is an acclaimed contemporary American restaurant located in Dennis Port and overlooking the Nantucket Sound. Owned by Janet Hart-Barbato, the Ocean House celebrated its 40th anniversary last year. The restaurant has lots to celebrate, having received numerous accolades over the years, all under the ownership of three generations of the Hart family. Executive chef Tom Woods churns out dishes that please regulars and newcomers alike, blending traditional New England and pan-Asian fare in the form of tuna tataki, lobster dumplings, charred octopus, seafood paella, panko chicken with shrimp fried rice, and an impressive chop house menu. “Smart casual” attire is required, including sleeved shirts for men." - Anna Darrow

Google
The best meal we’ve had this visit to the cape. Our server Samantha paid close attention to detail, was very kind and knowledgeable of the menu. We had a memorable time eating amazing food while looking out to the ocean, you really can’t get much better than this. When we go back home to our busy lives we will always think back to night we had here and will be dreaming of the miso butterscotch ice cream until the next time. Superb!

Google
The Ocean House is the best! The food is outstanding, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is beautiful. For appetizers, we got the Cobb Salad and the 5-layer ahi tuna. For our meals, we got sea bass, lobster noodles, and Korean fried chicken. Everything was delicious!

Google
Always a lovely experience at the ocean house. The cocktails are creative and delicious, the oysters on the half shell perfect, the Chilean sea bass was out of this world. I enjoyed the marine lobster ramen too. James and Morgan and all the staff are great and took great care of our party of 9!View was lovely even on a rainy day.

Google
Hostess was very nice. Our server Brittney was lovely, knew the menu, and did not rush us. Ambiance and view were spectacular. Food was delicious with the 2 appetizers and 2 entrees we ordered. Overall a wonderful experience.

Google
A++ overall dining experience! Complimentary valet parking makes showing up very easy and getting there early might guarantee you a window seat. We were seated by the window with a great view of the water. Drinks were exquisite, flavorful, and smooth - and garnished well. Ordered a caesar salad to split and it was plenty large enough for the two of us. I ordered the sea bass and my SO ordered the swordfish, both cooked to perfection. It was the best we'd had of either (and we've had our fair share). Our waitress was attentive but not too crowding and when we expressed that it was our anniversary, we received a complimentary dessert. The hostess and valet guys were very pleasant, too. By far, this was the best restaurant we dined at during our trip to the Cape!

Google
Ocean House is hands-down one of the most exceptional dining experiences on Cape Cod. From the moment you arrive, the ambiance is coastal elegance at its finest—set right on the water with sweeping views and a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both upscale and relaxed. The food is absolutely incredible. Every dish is beautifully presented and bursting with flavor—from the fresh seafood to the perfectly cooked steaks and seasonal specials, it’s clear the kitchen takes immense pride in its craft. The cocktail list is creative and well-balanced, and the wine selection is top-notch. What truly sets Ocean House apart, though, is the service. The staff is polished, attentive, and genuinely kind—they strike that perfect balance between professionalism and warmth, making you feel welcomed and cared for throughout the entire evening. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just indulging in a memorable night out, Ocean House delivers on all fronts: world-class food, exceptional service, and an unbeatable location. It’s a must-visit and a place you’ll want to return to again and again.

Google
It was the best fine dining I’ve had on Cape Cod. We celebrated our anniversary here 2 nights ago, and it was such a wonderful experience. First of all, the valet guys are incredible... we have such a great welcome from them and the hostess as well. The food is something else. We tried the octopus as an appetizer and was fenomenal...tender and full of flavor. We had the most wonderful meal . We decided to try the 3 courses menu, which was absolutely delicious, nice portions and plenty variety...oh and the cocktails are a must...original and well presented. The atmosphere is perfect, and our server AVA was top-notch! Very friendly, very professional. We can’t wait to return.Absolutely elegant and incredible meal. A must-go if ever on the Cape.

Google
Save your money ,the only good thing about this place is the view if u get lucky and get a table by the water ,the meal was not good I got the wagyu with corn and lobster .who serves corn with wagyu unless u just got out of the joint and Remember it fondly ,the lobster was shredded in the mashed potatoes .it had a horrible taste and the meat was not cooked med well which I asked tasted fatty, will not be going back and that dish is 120 Which I don’t mind paying if it tasted good

Yelp
Had a great time. Food very good. Drinks great. Service the best! I am a chef for 47 yrs so I can't help it I did agree with another review. To much Asian flare with a lot of the dishes. Just my opinion for a Cape Cod restaurant Great place

Joanne T.

Yelp
Wasn't able to grab reservations for dining - didn't know the place booked up for months in advance. The location is phenomenal. Right on the water. Stopped in for happy hour drinks outside as that was recommend since we weren't able to dine. The bar was swamped. Waiting over 15 minutes to get someone's attention. My drink was also wrong, but I didn't even mention it given the large amount of people in attendance. They had live music which was lovely. Sadly only street parking if you don't want to do valet or the lot is full - very hard to find a spot.

Yelp
We have been going to the Ocean House for 20 years. The menu has changed - more expensive and more elaborate preparations. The food has always been good, and is still good. However, on net, I think the quality is slightly lower now than in the past. Price/value ratio has definitely gotten worse. Wait staff is the same people we have seen for years. Not everyone on our table was happy. You come for the ambiance - the ocean views are spectacular.

Michael R.

Yelp
While we had a wonderful dinner, I'm updating my ranking to 4 stars from 5. Of course the view is still fantastic, and service on point however there were a few small things that have changed since our last visit that make the dinner less special. First, Ocean House used to have a spectacular complimentary bread service with a white bean dip. This is no longer offered, even for a fee. Instead, there is a cheddar biscuit bread service ($12), which comes with 5 bite size biscuits. While tasty, the lack of bread, especially at this price point is inexcusable. There is simply nothing to enjoy with all the great sauces that come with the plate. I realize restaurants are cutting corners, but it was not expected here. That being said, the price for entrees has really accelerated, most dishes are over $50 now, and appetizers are also very pricey. Portions are big, too big for our palate. I would suggest offering a smaller portion at a more reasonable price point. In the past, all the dishes we tried were a hit, but this time a little mixed. The lobster with noodles was OK. A fair amount of lobster, but the sauce for the noodles just didn't work for me. Again, perhaps a matter of taste, but it was not wow. The chocolate bag dessert is now offered at $35, very steep for a dessert, and seems very large. More than 2 could eat, perhaps 6. It was just too big, sloppy and not really manageable. I miss the original dessert. This was a 5 star restaurant, and I hope some of these recent changes are revisited.

Yelp
We decided we would have a late anniversary dinner while on vacation! This restaurant is phenomenal from service to food to atmosphere to the views! Our waitress was outstanding with her service, knowledge, and recommendations. This place exceeded all expectations! The food is off the charts amazing!

Rebecca S.

Yelp
We missed seeing Janet at the front to greet us , and we missed the white bean dip and lavash, but the view is as exquisite as ever, and management seems to care about their patrons. Our meal was a hit or miss , with some items being truly delicious, and others majorly lacking In quality. We will be back but perhaps only still to the good items and not be as adventurous as we were with trying different menu items in the past. I recommend the B+E chicken and the Chilean Sea Bass: B+E Panko Chicken $33.00 Shrimp Fried Rice | Sweet Corn + Zucchini | Pancetta Cotta | Mandarin Orange Glaze Mirin Lacquered Chilean Sea Bass $49.00 Sweet Corn + Thai Basil Risotto Cake | Marinated Baby Heirlooms | Citrus Vinaigrette | Espelette Aioli Skip the appetizers as our tuna tartare was really gross, with the silver skin left on the fish. The ocean house omakase was just okay, but not the same quality as it's predecessor the bento box

Katie R.

Yelp
This place is SO worth the hype, if you can get a reservation GO! The food was amazing and so fresh. The sea bass was one of the best meals I've had at a restaurant, and the cocktails were different and delicious. What took our experience above and beyond was the service. Our waitress Celine was an absolute gem, giving awesome recommendations and making sure everything was perfect. We had a large group so I made a reservation 30 days in advance.

Yelp
The Quick: 10/10 seafood restaurant with a view! The food was out of this world flavorful, location is awesome, and the staff was super attentive. Get something with an Asian flair (super inventive) The Details: wow!!! We loved our meal, favorite of the trip. The OH Cioppino was delicious - so much local seafood and the broth..we drank it with a spoon! We tried the local scallop carpaccio special that had a spicy Asian influence it was... life changing. Udon clams were super good as well. The Damage: reasonable for the quality and quantity but not an inexpensive spot

melissa k.

Yelp
Amazing service, wonderful food and presentation! The restaurant is very well appointed as well.

Yelp
This place is a gem! We were lucky to have gotten a table with my last minute reservation. The service was excellent we were sat promptly . The food was amazing, but the drinks ... OMG ... spectacular... will definitely visit again.

Semra E.

Yelp
There's something exceptional when you drive up to a place, valet & then are immediately taken to your table. I love efficiently run establishments & this is absolutely one of those places. The atmosphere is clean & bright & soft which is what anyone would want when overlooking the ocean . The staff are friendly & helpful without making you feel rushed during your meal or ordering process. The cocktails are delectable and fun. The food was rich and delicious. We started with the lobster deviled eggs as well as the dumplings which were exceptional. Then we had the sea bass and the scallops which were both rich with surprises of bursts of fruit, since there was pineapple with pork in the bed of rice for the scallops. We finished with dessert and had the Vietnamese crème brûlée that was really good (just be aware of the chocolate covered coffee beans). If you're looking for an upscale experience that you can dress up for then this is the place to go.

Yelp
Ocean House Restaurant had just opened for the season so it seemed like a great place for a birthday dinner. We knew nothing about the restaurant so all was a surprise - and a great surprise! Driving up it appears to be a stogy restaurant - a bit old fashioned - but once inside it had a much different feel. And very different from your typical Cape Cod restaurants. The food was delicious, and again, very different from your typical Cape Cod restaurant. We were really hungry and needed something quick so started with the onion dip - wow! It was great! Home made potato chips, creamy onion dip that reminded us of a grown up version of the make-at-home Lipton dip. But so much better. Next we had Point Judith calamari - which should have been called frito misto as it contained fried Rock Shrimp | Calamari | Scallops | Pork Belly | Ponzu | Pickled Chiles | Ginger Soy Drizzle | Togarishi Aioli. it was a really unusual dish. The pickled Chiles were my favorite part of the dish though every element was good - and nothing overcooked. For our main dish we split the Seafood Paelya. Sea Scallops | Rock Shrimp | Chatham Littlenecks | P.E.I. Mussels | Chicken Chorizo Saffron Coconut Rice | English Peas | Hot + Sour Tomato Broth | Shrimp Lumpia. It was explained as being a Brazilian version of traditional Spanish paella. Our only issue with the dish was coconut milk base - a little too gluey and heavy. The seafood had a tomato broth base which complemented but didn't take over the other elements. I have to admit that I was a bit jealous of the steaks we kept seeing served to other diners. I'll have that next time. Our favorite part was the service. Our waiter was dealing with a large party along with a few tables and clearly it was too much. Whenever he wasn't available the manager stepped in. The menu is a bit hard to understand so both the manager and the wait staff carefully went through it, making recommendations. They were both very friendly and once the large table was taken care of we had more than enough time and attention. We felt like we had much better than average service but because the manager stepped in to help out they ended up giving us a 20% discount on the meal. If you are celebrating a birthday let them know on your reservation. We had a delicious (and complementary) surprise of a molten lava cake. Take your time when you are going. We spent a few hours over dinner.

Yelp
Ocean House has a spacious outdoor dining area that is perfect for groups and kids. There was live music starting at 5 but not a ton of shaded seating so sitting out on very hot days will be tough. It's a much more laid back and family oriented vibe outside and you get great views of the ocean. I give the place 3 stars because we were never able to order anything. It was impossible to flag down a server to get an order in so we left after hanging out for a bit.

Lindsey D.

Yelp
Unpopular opinion, but I was very underwhelmed with the food here. Service was prompt, we had a great table on the water. The atmosphere is why I think so many people come back time and time again. I would try this place again, but try completely different apps and meals. They have blue cheese stuffed olives which is always a + in my book. We started with the wagyu dumplings, the mounds of shredded lettuce thrown on top really threw me off, and it did not taste nearly as good as any other wagyu if you've ever had it before. The tuna tostadas.... They're placed on the cheapest tortilla chip that you get at a school with the chips and nacho cheese. This dish could be so much more elevated if they just used a better tostada selection. Loved the lamb lollipops, sauce was great with them and they were cooked perfectly. I will say the filet, lamb and mashed potatoes are the only thing that really redeemed themselves. The lobster raviolis were fine, but the sauce was lacking severely in flavor, I feel like if they changed the sauce to something more flavorful this dish would be much better. All and all, a restaurant on the water will always get people coming back for the views and cocktails. Personally I think they are just lacking in the food department.

Yelp
Got a last minute reservation at opening 4pm. We were able to sit right next to the window with a nice view. Such a beautiful clear day! Valet only for cars but it is comped by the restaurant. Drinks were decorated with 4th of July pom poms it was cute. We got the mango margarita and the sangria-La. Both delicious! The chips and the Garbonzo pesto dip were so yummy I wanted more! This was on the house. For apps were ordered the burrata salad which was sooo much more than I thought! It came with salad greens and prosciutto and bread!!! Definitely worth the price $28. We ordered the scallops with the fried rice, it was flavorful and filling. Good amount of scallops compared to other places I've been to that give you only 4 that are a bit bigger. We also got the Chilean sea bass which was so buttery and flavorful I was excited to eat it for leftovers and it still tasted so good!!!! Of course with a view comes price but I find it that many times food becomes disappointing but my boyfriend and I were happy with our food! Kelley our server was so nice and gave us a list of places when we asked for recommendations she was so sweet! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would go back.

Yelp
Had a great experience here recently. The service was impeccable. Ava was our waitress. She was so pleasant and helpful. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. There wasn't anything we ate that we didn't like. A very rare occurrence in my experience. I'd say it was worth the price, but definitely a "special occasion" type of place considering the prices. Same day reservation on a Sat was not easy - the only available time was 9:30pm but we showed up a bit early and got seated shortly after. They have free valet parking but you can also park at the hotel parking lot, at the spaces without numbers. We dined at the restaurant (indoor), not at the outdoor bar. They have different menus. There's a beach right below the restaurant. Nice place to wait (if needed).

Cal H.

Yelp
Service and ambience were quite good, but the food at this place is vastly overpriced and frankly a bit of a hash. There is an attempt to create sophisticated Japanese-based dishes. In reality it is overly busy and doesn't hang together. Every dish we had exhibited the same problem and just didn't work. Special condemnation for serving instant iced tea at a $75 a person restaurant. If you want this kind of cuisine, Fin in Dennis achieves actual sophistication (the gimmicky lobster doughnut notwithstanding) and is delicious.

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
One of the most amazing meals and service I have ever had!! Food was incredible-- we had the steak and cheese rangoons, pork belly skewers, Chilean sea bass and panko chicken. Oh and the chocolate molten cake! All 10/10!! Service was impeccable too! Definitely a special occasion restaurant that we can't wait to come back to!!

Debbie Z.

Yelp
Amazing food, service and views. Highly recommend. Our annual birthday celebration when on the cape.

Sonia M.

Yelp
Stop by your celebrate our anniversary without reservation. From the drinks to the special accommodation on my GF choice, everything was outstanding and Gust our waiter was awesome. He even brought us a special gelato as celebration. The views even from inside are beautiful! Very classy and surprising not very expensive.

Dave D.

Yelp
Beautiful business on the Ocean, busy place, great valet service. Great waiter. $$$ We had two disappointing entrees. $52 Scallops, 7 smallish ones with absolutely no flavor at all. Served with a teriyaki sauce which is a sin for scallops. It added needed flavor but should not be on the plate. $28 Crab cake was a good size, overly sort of sloppy moist without much flavor. Winner was the desert, chocolate flourless cake. Beautiful round cylinder with flourless, yummy chocolate and added mousse and great custom whipped cream and a chocolate square with their logo in gold printing.

Sneha W.

Yelp
It was a pleasant experience to be dining here on one of our family celebrations. Needed a reservation - it's a busy place gets all booked up. They were able to accommodate us on almost last minute request. The service was great, the food was delicious, and also very well presented. So impressed by everything The place is so beautiful. Highly recommend if you visit the area.

Paige G.

Yelp
Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long time. We made a reservation well in advance for our anniversary on a Thursday night. You have to put a deposit down for the reservation which made us really hesitant at first but we took a leap of faith. We arrived early for our 7pm reservation because we wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink. We were told the bar was reservations only but we were able to sit there and enjoy one and our table was ready right after our drink. We were seated with an ocean view and felt so lucky! To start with, we got a bowl of the clam chowder and a fall salad which had fried goat cheese, arugula, apples and pecans. For our main dishes, I got the Chilean sea bass and my husband got the lobster tagliatelle pasta. Everything was absolutely deciduous. We were so full from our meal that we didn't order dessert. But to our surprise, they brought us out a piece of cake to celebrate our anniversary. I can't say enough good things about this place. It truly lives up to the hype and I can't wait to go back!

Krystin H.

Yelp
The ocean house is such a nice spot! You can see the ocean everywhere you sit, which is a nice plus. We went for our anniversary and the hostess wished us an happy anniversary because you can let them know if you are there for a special occasion when you make reservations online. The food and drinks were excellent, we will be going back. The service was also awesome! Wendy, our server was so great and helpful.

Calín E.

Yelp
It's an honor to write a review for the best business on Cape Cod. The Ocean house by far takes the cake in all aspects of what it takes to be a great restaurant inside and out. The dining options are vast, you can dine inside for more formal dining and hope to score a once-in-a-lifetime view of the ocean right from bright and unobstructed windows, or you can enjoy the ambience of a semi-formal/more casual dining outside by the tiki bar. The parking is all valet, and I myself have never gone there without a reservation as it's nearly impossible to walk in (unless you're going to the tiki bar). I've been many times and feel like I know the staff as friends and family. My parents like to request Mia as our server and I always can see why. She's a great poster child for the quality of service this establishment provides. The Bento Box is a must try, a rotating appetizer. We get it every time without ever having to look because we know it will be excellent. The drinks are all crafted with both care and expertise, and the main menu offers the highest quality of food I have ever experienced. Every time I go to the Ocean House, I feel my experience is both special and unique and I always leave happy. I've gone there for my college graduation, thanksgiving, anniversary dinners. It's the place to be, I've been going for many years. Hats off to the mother and daughter in charge of this place, we love them dearly and everything they have accomplished here at The Ocean House.

Dirk M.

Yelp
My family have been patrons of the Ocean House for many years. We have greatly enjoyed the food, service and beautiful setting. However, this year we were sorely disappointed in our dinner last night. Service continues to be consistently good and the beautiful view did not disappoint. But something has gone terribly wrong with the food. What has happened to the complimentary bread? New menu items are a pale comparison to previous menu items. For instance, we LOVED the GGL on previous menus...what a perfect preparation the highlighted the naturally delicious flavor of the lobster...not to mention the perfectly complimentary sauces that enhanced the flavor of the lobster without overwhelming. But we were willing to try the new lobster dish with hopes that it was also excellent. However, it fell FAR short of our expectations. Just a few lowlights: the sauces is WAY too sweet and overpowering...the way the lobster was cut made it even more difficult to extract from the shell AND made it seem like a large part of the lobster was missing. Other dishes were okay but overall fell below our expectations. Lastly, the lighting is way too harsh and cold. I would suggest that you use some warmer bulbs to "take the edge off." Not sure we'll be back.

Babs C.

Yelp
The Ocean House has changed, not for the better, and that is reflected in the fact that it is not as crowded as it has been in the past. They charge a $50 cancelation fee now for cancelations within 24 hours. Although the food is good, the menu is limited, the prices are ridiculously high, and the portions of some dishes have shrunk. They have eliminated serving complimentary bread and charge $12 for 5 tiny muffins. The drinks are still excellent, though. I won't be going back again. What was a summertime splurge has turned into a regrettable dining experience. There are plenty of high-end restaurants that have better food at more reasonable prices.

Erika M.

Yelp
I have been to Ocean House for high tea, the chefs counter dinner, the champagne bar, and a Relais & Châteaux weekend event, but nothing tops the Mother's Day brunch I just went to. Raw bar, mimosa bar where you get to decide how much OJ you want, hot pastries right out of the oven. It was a delicious meal in a beautiful setting. Worth the price in my opinion. I will definitely be back next year!

Sarah B.

Yelp
Food was so good the only photo I got was of the dessert (one of them). Things to try! All the cocktails Lobster flatbread - unexpectedly good!! Lobster ravioli - a starter but could be a meal Seafood pasta Greek salad - not craving fish? Get this! Strawberry shortcake - could feed a family and so good! Staff is amazing and ambiance is unreal. A great, upscale spot in the cape to add to you list!

Michael M.

Yelp
Outstanding service, meal and desert. Really enjoyed the view as well - highly recommend the sword fish, halibut and the deserts!

summer d.

Yelp
Chilean Sea bass is then best I've ever had! The view is beautiful. It's almost like you're on a cruise ship.

Yelp
Last night my wife and celebrated our Anniversary by having dinner at the Ocean House in Dennisport. Everything about the meal was exceptional. Unexpectedly, we were seated at a table overlooking the water. These tables are first come, first serve and we were happy to have been seated at one. That also probably made our whole dining experience a little quieter and more intimate than if we had been seated in the main dining room.      Our server, Wendi, could not have been more charming and helpful, both in describing the dishes and letting us know which starters were big enough to share.      For a starter, we shared the Point Judith Calamari. It was delicious, but be forewarned that it is a very large starter that contains peppers, pork belly, shrimp, scallops, calamari rings (but no tentacles) and maybe a few clams. In truth, it's more like a fried seafood platter than a calamari appetizer!      For entrees, my wife had the Wasabi Panko Ahi Tuna Roll, while I had the Bento Box. Both dishes were superb, but after having had the calamari as a starter, we had plenty of food to bring home. The Ahi Tuna Roll is quite a bit thicker than what you might expect, but my wife thoroughly enjoyed it (and is looking forward to enjoying the leftovers)!      My Bento Box contained pork dumplings, lobster toast, Branzino fish sticks, philly cheese steak bao buns and panko encrusted tuna. The sauces and accompaniments were inventive and appropriate. Like my wife, I'm looking forward to enjoying my leftovers!      Aside from the food and the service, several other things made the meal memorable. Someone must have heard us talking and sent us a complimentary round of drinks upon hearing that I'm a veteran to thank me for my service. Thank you, whoever you are!      When we were too full to actually order a dessert, the restaurant sent us a small complimentary dessert that wished us a Happy Anniversary! Thank you, Ocean House!      Finally, I had ordered an after dinner drink that they were out of. Instead of just giving our server the bad news so I could choose something else, a manager (Morgan, I think) came to our table, explained that item was out of stock and asked if I wanted an alternative that he suggested. It was a very nice touch and I appreciated the way they handled it.      We look forward to our next visit.

Michael I.

Yelp
Great food! Amazing service! Killer view!! Make sure you stop here and eat the lobster!

Sydney Y.

Yelp
Truly a 5 star meal. Everything here was delicious! From the beet salad, to the calamari, the steak, paella, dessert, and turkey thanksgiving special. Everyone loved every single entree, not to mention our service was amazing which makes the experience wonderful. Still thinking about my meal from last night!!! The sauces that came with the steak, lobster, and scallops were TO DIE FOR! My elderflower vodka drink was delicious as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant on the cape.

Don Y.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! The food, service and the attention they pay to detail is incredible. The owner, managers and waitstaff are all on the same page. Its a special occasion restaurant but its hard not to keep coming

Avi M.

Yelp
I went there with a friend and the food that they gave us was horrible and the service was really grumpy and mean I never wanted to go there again but my daughters birthday was the other day and she wanted to go there so we went and I brought a friend and she has a service dog and once we went we brought the dog and the man who was our hostess said she wasn't allowed to bring her service dog and what he said was against the law so I don't recommend

Maria S.

Yelp
Our server was excellent!! We reserved a table one month ahead as you only can do . I requested a window seat and stated it was an anniversary. When we arrived we were not at a window even though there where empty window 4 top us being 3 . Our table clothe was dirty big tomato stain clearly hadn't been changed. As we dined still the window 4 top was empty! Wont be returning or recommending we live here year round and own businesses in town very disappointed also once our server got another table no more drinks we were ignored

John M.

Yelp
We walked next door asking about our reservation (for the first time). We were met with a condescending ridicule that we were, in fact, next door at a separate restaurant even though they have the same name and are adjoining. After our meal, we tried to walk out a side door labeled "exit." Don't do that. The waiter shoved the shoulder of who I was with then proceeded to discipline her in the lesson of exit doors. Really absurd. Wouldn't recommend. Also, food was meh.

Rachael W.

Yelp
LOVED this place. Had been dying to try it and finally was able to! Made a reservation for bar seats on a Thursday night. We split the tuna tostadas, lobster ravioli and the filet. All were excellent! Will definitely be back

Ruth M.

Yelp
This place has long been a favorite with beautiful views, good service and nice food... lower stars reflect crowded tables, impossible reservations and noise levels which make conversation near impossible. I congratulate them on their success but at what price? Miss just being able to go in and sit at the bar. Now reservations are needed even for that! Not a place I would frequent like I used to.... Even if I could get in. If you want to go... plan WAY in advance

Delia K.

Yelp
Food: they stopped doing the bread service which was annoying, so instead you have to buy "snacks", we got the cheddar biscuits. They were very yummy, and it came with 5. I forgot to take a picture before eating. For my meal I got the 3 for 59 so that I could get a salad and an entree and dessert. The salad was just normal caesar salad. I got a different dressing though because I don't like caesar dressing, and I forgot to take a picture. The pan seared scallops were good which I knew because I had gotten them before at the Beach bar. It was weird it only came with 3 scallops though I don't know if it was just cuz I got the deal version. The dessert was low keys terrible I got the gf brownie sundae and I don't like gf stuff so I asked if they could make it non gf but they couldn't but the server said it was rick but it was not it was like sand and the whipped cream was gross no offense. The service was slow and also for the dessert it was really late by the time we got to it so I asked for it to go and I asked for ice cream on the side and then it wasn't which was annoying. Disappointing experience because we used to love the Ocean house but probably won't be back for a while now maybe never. Ambience was good I guess it is a fancy restaurant. we had to be in a corner away from the view tho:(

Yelp
Our menu choices were delicious. Ivan provided excellent service with just the correct check-ins at the table. Our table had a very nice water view. While our reservation was early, the restaurant had a vibrant atmosphere. The tab added up, but I look for value and the Ocean House delivered.

Yelp
Beware if you make a reservation you need to keep it ..they charge $50 a person for a cancellation fee that's disgusting I can see $50 but per person (crazy) they have people waiting in line too get in . I have a family member who is a migraine sufferer and came to visit, they made reservations but got sick was charged fee !

Yelp
An overall delightful dining experience with a splendid ambiance. While dishes like the street corn rangoons, lobster flatbread, and tuna tostada were decent, they didn't necessarily stand out. The calamari, however, was a game-changer - the melding of calamari, pork belly, scallop, and the sauce was incredibly satisfying. Additionally, the Cioppino was a standout with its fresh array of seafood and perfectly toasted bread, which paired wonderfully with the tomato broth. There was a slight hiccup when we requested tagliatelle to be added to our dish, but instead received a separate order of lobster tagliatelle. Given the circumstances, we were too satiated to appreciate it fully. Despite being on the pricier side for Cape Cod, it was largely worth it, barring the minor ordering mishap.

Yelp
Ambiance and Service were superb, as usual. I have been going to the Ocean House yearly always anxiously awaiting this dining date. I do realize that they mix up the menu from year to year, however what a let down this year. We make it an event once a year event. Restaurants with prestige always provide a bread basket.Ocean House's award winning bread basket with hummus, crackers and bread were absent this year. The waitress said that it could be ordered on the menu. Dam...not even a saltine. Two of their mainstays vanished "New England Lobster Ravioli, and the Lobster Tagliatelle Pasta were absent, and of course both my favorite. Myself and my Mom ordered the filet mignon which was fair and it came with a tiny salad..$66. My Dad had lobster on top of ramen noodles....$55. Again 5 star restaurant serving ramen noodles? Wow. Ambiance and the service great ...but the food declined. The once a year event that I so look forward to has come to an end. I do not recommend Cindy M

Yelp
What a great experience, the night started off rocky as we were driving to DennisPort from Truro and a portion of Rt 6 was closed due to a traffic accident. Our friends who dine here frequently were seated as we arrived past our reservation time. The staff including the valets, reception and especially our server Kristian could not have been more kind and understanding. Our meal was excellent. We all shared the 5-layer tuna tartar, enjoyed 3 Sea Bass entries and 1 stuffed veal chop, for desert we all shared the warm blueberry pie and warm chocolate molten cake. Kristian was very attentive with our being intrusive and offered some great recommendations throughout the meal. I would highly recommend the Ocean House, clean well run restaurant, great staff and amazing views, you can't go wrong.

Yelp
For special occasions in you have limited budget...it is not inexpensive BUT it's quality and creativity for sure! Cocktails do not disappoint! Views can be great IF there is NO fog...which cannot be controlled...their season is short and it is busy so making a reservation must happen with some fore thinking!

Yelp
Toughie here ... food was a 1 or 2 ... atmosphere was a 4 ... staff a 5. So I guess 3 stars is fair. Reservations here are hard to get ... despite the size, they were pretty much booked up the entire month of July and August several weeks in advance. Somehow, there was a single 9 p.m. reservation left, which I snagged despite not being able to see the view. Based on the recommendation of a staff member, we chose the outdoor tent because on a nice night, yiu can hear/see the waves. Of course, on the night we came, it was raining so the tent's plastic sides were down, meaning no view. The food was ALL bland and underseasoned except for the Lobster Ravioli, which was the star dish. The steak was rubbery and overcooked. The seafood stew was flavourless and bland. Overall, we all decided the food was the worst we had on Cape Cod. (Except for the lobster ravioli) The presentation of the food was fantastic. If you are shooting the food for a magazine or instagram influencing, it will be great for you. If you order it for taste, you may be dissapointed ... even after asking for salt, it was all still bland and flavourless. The atmosphere in the tent was okay ... inside is a much better view, if you get one of the few tables by the windows. It felt like a wedding venue in the tent or outside. Kind of generic. The outside is deceiving as it looks like a motel from the 1970's. Inside is more modern. This area of the Cape is not fancy and the interior is about as fancy feeling as you can get without going to Chatham or Nantucket. Would we come again? Tough to say. The restaurant is a good atmosphere and a 'scene spot' but the shocking prices and lack of taste for the food makes it pretty blah. We were surprised at how high the wine markup was! Not a huge selection ... no corkage fees allowed (to allow bringing one's own bottle. A $9 bottle of wine at the store is marked up to $9-$10 per glass. The Sea Grill in Harwichport has no ocean views but the food is MUCH tastier and its an easier reservation to get. Obviously, Ocean House is doing something right as its full all summer. Maybe we came on a bad night ... everything was underseasoned.

Yelp
The service was very polite and attentive. This is the perfect place to try something new because every meal very well done. The views are gorgeous right on the beach.
