We dined here while staying at the resort. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and it's fun to dress up and have a "fine dining" experience. We felt, however, that there was too much focus on being just that - a fine dining experience - and not enough focus on the actual quality of the food served.
We started off strong with amazing cocktails: the espresso martini (which can be made decaf!) and the papillon sour (so good!). Then, we had the Kiawah oyster roast, which was a solid appetizer. The drinks and appetizer were the best part of the entire dinner.
Our entrees were, however, very disappointing. My husband ordered a New York strip cooked medium rare with a twice baked potato, and I ordered the lobster ravioli. We also received the chef's daily complimentary dish of fried zucchini with tomato sauce and (I believe) burrata. We're not sure if maybe the waiter misheard my husband's order, but his steak came out medium well, and there was nothing spectacular about the dish. The best part of his dinner was the twice baked potato. My lobster ravioli was overall disappointing. While I like an al dente pasta, the ravioli was too chewy. The lobster filling was too sweet, as was the sauce, which was light and citrusy. It really needed something savory to balance out the sweetness. The fried zucchini had a nice crunchy coating, but the inside was sticky, like it was overcooked. The sauce on the fried zucchini was okay but rather bland.
For dessert, my husband ordered the coconut cheesecake, which he enjoyed.
All in all, it was a very nice atmosphere and a fun experience, but when I am paying over $100 per person to eat somewhere, I want to be amazed by the food. I, unfortunately, was not amazed by the food here. I would grab a drink and an appetizer at the bar here any day but probably wouldn't have a full dinner again.
