If you’re looking for an upscale seafood restaurant in downtown DC this is the place for you. It was a bit pricey but worth it. They have a dress code so recommend that you check for restrictions before your visit. The food was delicious and service was great. I loved the wine display at the entrance which was a great backdrop for photo memories. They have a nice bar setup, offer catering, and you can order online.

Phenomenal experience at The Oceanaire Seafood Room! My wife and I were celebrating our 12 year wedding anniversary and the atmosphere was perfect for it. The service was also superb. Our glasses were always full and we felt the server timed our experience perfectly (did not feel rushed). We ordered the mussels and clam chowder for appetizers and I had the Chilean sea bass Ramen and my wife had the halibut. All delicious. At the end, we were happily surprised by our server giving us a complimentary baked alaska! Overall, we had an awesome dining experience celebrating our anniversary.

I celebrated my birthday here and loved it! Easy 10/10. I tried to post this review to Open Table but it didn’t show up in my visited places. Our Hostess was Jennifer and our Waiter was Arubio. They were both absolutely lovely and so friendly. The food was excellent. I had fried Lobster and my husband had filet mignon. The food was cooked to absolute perfection and was SO delicious! For my birthday they gave me a card, a personalized menu and flaming dessert. People don’t have to do a thing for you and I appreciated very much each of those touches. I’m not from the DC area but I have coworkers who will visit and I highly recommend this restaurant. If I go back to DC, I will pay them a visit! 💞

We had a truly divine experience at the Oceanire. At first I was slightly skeptical that the restaurant was going to be worth the hype. But it did live up! The service was exemplary our waiter Myner was knowledgeable and friendly. Every dish, and cocktail how we had was an elevated experience. Taking meals from good to sublime. I strongly recommend to anyone.

Lunch on a Sunday turned to wasted time on a Sunday. Definitely not the Oceanaire we used to know. The best part of the dining experience was the greet by the host. The restaurant was empty so our server should’ve been all over us, but that was not the case. Our server was Andrew. We sat at the bar and my plate was just as full when I left as when they brought it. My partner had RED lipstick on the rim of his water glass, which was brought out and served to him by Andrew. Our water glasses stayed empty as he failed to check on us during our meal which if he would have would’ve noticed that me nor my partner were eating our food. The crabcake was not tasty. Fries weren’t the best. Definitely will not return, definitely disappointed at the experience provided for a $200 bill. A team of Employees just standing around with a bunch of empty tables, we shouldn’t have wanted for anything and our meal should’ve been top notch. If you can’t wow customers in an empty restaurant, I have no faith in you in a busy one. Couldn’t even bring us clean silverware and glasses. Missed the mark by a bunch. Never again..

Google
Amazing in all categories. Staff was very informative and answered all of my menu questions. The menu is so nice the way it offers simple dishes as well as some dishes for a mature palate. I had the scallops as an appetizer & sea bass for my main course. Really nice place to sit down, relax and have a great meal!!

Google
Oceanaire is my go-to place when entertaining or hosting friends. I can always count on stellar service, great food, and great atmosphere for entertaining or a business dinner. Service staff is great, and do not hesitate to ask them for their recommendations. To top off the great food, dessert can make the evening with the Key Lime Pie. Best i have ever had!

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday here and loved it! Easy 10/10. I tried to post this review to Open Table but it didn't show up in my visited places. Our Hostess was Jennifer and our Waiter was Arubio. They were WONDERFUL. They did all the things that added the experience to make it an 11/10! Ambiance: 10 - elegant, clean but not stuffy Service: 10 - super friendly and warm Food: 10 - Everbridge came out in a timely fashion. Everything was A1. Beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. Price: just would I would expect for an elevated dining experience. I loved it. If I'm in DC again, I will visit again!

Yelp
If you want a classy seafood experience to exceed expectations I would recommend this place. The lighting and layout make this feel like such a special place. My fiancé and I went here for his birthday. I made a reservation online prior to showing up, and our menus said happy birthday. We ordered drink and food galore as this was our first time going to this restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked to perfection. Though this experience did come at a price, it was definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
I attended a birthday celebration at this restaurant, and the food was exceptional--definitely worth visiting this outside of special occasions. We ordered a variety of appetizers, which allowed me to sample a good portion of the menu. The grilled shrimp and oysters were standout dishes, even though I didn't see them listed on the menu. I had the fried lobster and grits, which were incredible; the lobster was sweet and perfectly cooked, and the grits were creamy and flavorful, with shrimp mixed in as a nice surprise. The service was excellent, with multiple servers ensuring we were well taken care of. This is a fantastic spot for celebrations, and I'm looking forward to returning!

Yelp
Starting off when we got in it was a big on our table that was brushed off once we brought it to the servers attention. I should've left but my brother wanted to stay. The inside is nice similar to any steakhouse. The service was great but the food was underwhelming and I was surprised. This was my first time dining here, I usually go to Eddie Vs which is my fav. The food was just okay not great like we expected down to the Mac and the ribeye. The calamari was very soft and chewy. The drinks were the only thing I enjoyed. Safe to say I won't be coming back here.

Tyler T.

Yelp
Amazing and attentive service but the food could definitely be better for the price point. The crab cakes were great! Caesar salad was pretty good and a good size but I would definitely recommend skipping the Oyster Rockefeller

Jarriel J.

Yelp
The service at Oceanaire was immaculate. However, I have never had food that I'd consider GOOD there. Food is decent at best - for a higher scale restaurant, I'd expect a lot more.

Yelp
Oceanaire... oh how I love this place. It's the vibes for me and the FOOD! The atomosphere is sexy and the food is immaculate. The bartender is always on point and server was fast, friendly and attentive. Perfect date night or pre theatre meal spot! Highly recommend

Yelp
At a work event for the week, this was our day 2 event as I was wanting seafood and living in CO makes that a tough one to find! One of our fellow diners suggested the Oceanaire and off we went. We were placed into the main dining area as well had a group of six. The service was fantastic and our server was amazing. He recommended their bone in halibut which had a blackened seasoning with lemon butter dripped on top. I took him up on the special and have no regrets. It was probably one of my favorite seafood dishes of all time. The cook, the flavor and the experience of off the bone was definitely something else. The fish was flaky, tender and the seasoning rocked! Our group ordered the Chilean Sea Bass as our friend called it Chile and Sea Bass! His dish looked fantastic as well. Two diners sampled the filets and one tried the various sushi rolls. The pictures say it all on the sushi. The portion size was extremely large. We also ordered several sides and they too were out of this world. If in DC and looking for something memorable this is the place!

Yelp
Met a friend in town on business forSunday dinner. She made the reservation here and once we sat down said she'd intended to make the reservation at ocean prime. Maybe next time. Everything was mediocre to me from the non-greeting at the front entrance to the food and service. Nothing was noteworthy. Servers work tag team style. My friend ordered the surf and turf w a 6 oz steak and lobster tail. Ordered medium well and it arrived medium rare and she sent it back to be cooked the way she requested it. I ordered Massachusetts scallops which were anything but. 4 large unexceptional scallops for $50 (with nothing else)! I'm from New England and I know good seafood and scallops. These were overcooked, rubbery and I didn't even finish them. Tasted the tail lobster and it seemed pre frozen and a bit "fishy." Lobster should not be fishy or have an aftertaste. All sides are ala Carte. We ordered garlic spinach, Brussels sprouts with bacon and mashed potatoes. The sprouts were overpowered by the bacon and the potatoes honestly seemed powdered. Serving portions of sides were large and they were substandard. The spinach was the best of the three. With a bottle of sparkling water the bill came to $200 plus tip.

Yelp
Sat at the bar high top, service and food took awhile to come out but all the food was amazing! Smaller bar high top tables, but a great area to watch the TV's at the bar.

Robin G.

Yelp
Absolutely the best server, Paige! Went above & beyond any service we've experienced. Food was delicious as well! A must try in DC.

Yelp
Follow for personal reviews of some of the hottest spots for dinner, drinks, and fun around the DMV! ------------------ Oceanside Seafood Room - 1201 F St. NW, Washington, D.C. Two girls out on New Year's Eve!! Here's what we ordered: Grilled Oysters Rock Fresh Raw Oysters (variety) Chesapeake Style Crab Cakes Hashed Browns Shellfish Mixed Grill Drinks Pinot Grigio Spicy Pineapple Margarita Ambience: Location: Food: Staff: Cost: Listen When you're 40+ going out on New Years Eve ain't the jam (for some of us) WE ARE TIRED! We want to be in bed relaxing with our snacks and watching murder mysteries!! But alas; we got cute and popped out for dinner and as always the meal was delicious!! In my opinion @theoceanaire is always delicious! It gives old school upscale from the decor to the wait staff in white jackets. Our waiter Carlos (I think ) was nice [took you a long time to offer us bread ) but I digress. We enjoyed the meal. We had great laughs and were headed home by 10:00!! Look at God! **Lunch at Oceanaire's bar is always top notch! Great bartenders and it's a cute vibe!!

Yelp
Got a last minute reservation for The Oceanaire tonight and it was phenomenal. First of all the host was so welcoming and personable and made us feel welcomed. Everyone was so friendly from hosts to the gentlemen who filled our water glasses. Our server Nelson was awesome so kind and gave on point suggestions without over selling. The ambiance was beautiful and the perfect noise level to have a conversation as most places can be way too loud these days. So we appreciated the noise levels. As for the food - the spicy lobster roll was incredible so fresh and delicious. Clam chowder was super good. And for the entrees the sea bass came recommended by Nelson and was also delicious! We also got the fried rice and hash brown side. All the food was fantastic. Overall a 10/10 experience in food and service and we will be back and recommend highly. Thank you Nelson and all the staff for a fabulous dining experience!

Yelp
I enjoyed my visit at Oceanaire. I was with a large party and we were accommodated well. Our server was attentive and moved fast. Our food came out in good timing. I had crabcakes with Brussel sprouts. Nothing to rave about, I wasn't wowed by the food. However, I had a smoked maple old fashioned that was amazing. One of the best I've had. The food menu was limited and that was disappointing. I may visit another time to see if the menu changes.

Yelp
Overview I was in a dinner party of 10 people and we ate here over Labor Day weekend. We had reservations for 7:30PM on a Sunday and it was not crowded at all. My overall experience here was slightly underwhelming. The menu was confusing and the service was slow. We didn't start ordering food until around 8:30PM. I expected more based on the menu prices and the décor inside. Food & Drink I had the Spicy Pineapple Margarita which was strong but good. The drinks are not watered down here. I ordered the 6oz steak, which was cooked to perfection, but it didn't come with any sides. The sides were separate. I wish I would have known that the side portions were huge and could be shared between two people. I had three sides, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and asparagus. The mashed potatoes had a nice buttery, creamy flavor and the mushrooms were seasoned well but the asparagus lacked flavor. I do not recommend getting the asparagus here. Restrooms There are two stalls and one of them has a baby changing table. You can easily fit a wheelchair in here. It was clean and had nice soft paper towels. FYI: They can only split the check between two cards so if you're in a large group and want to split the bill then I recommend everyone bring cash. (Or you can cash app each other later)

Yelp
Was sat at the bar since i was dining alone. Could you believe that literally everybody at the bar was a solo (woman) diner. I wasnt even given the option of the table and its only about 5:30pm, mostly empty. Management should have hosts offer single diners a table, if available.. some of us order enough for 2 anyway or dont want to eat a steak dinner at the bar. Thankfully the bartenders were great on the service side. Food and drinks were really good though. I noticed a diner next to me had bread.. wasnt offered any which i would have liked but also dont know if you have to order it.. My appetizer of shrimp and grits was a 10/10, i almost licked the bowl clean. Shrimp, halved Roma tomatoes, cheese grits and a super flavorful sauce. Perfect. My filet was cooked perfectly medium but could have been seasoned.. i didnt even taste any salt, but it was saved by the blue cheese butter. Guava Daiquiri was delicious, could have had 2 of those. Overall, i'd like to return and try more of the menu.

Yelp
My friend and I had 6:30pm reservation on September 26th, 2024. By 7:15pm we were just getting our bread and oysters. Our show started at 8pm and our main dish still had not arrived. It's a beautiful place, but if I knew the service would be slow I would have made reservations for 4pm. We tried to pay for the drinks and oysters, but the chef told us no and gave us his card to come back. Well, I did reach out to the chef and he never responded. Needless to say I will never go there again. The hostess said service was slow because of a large party. The restaurant was practically empty, but never again.

Yelp
Finally made it here! Like I've literally have been saying for years thay I'll come here one day, but being that I don't eat shellfish, I guess I figured it would be limited options for me. A week ago, came with some friends to partake in Restaurant Week. Since I'm not big on shellfish, I ordered the NY bistro steak. Service by Shadrach was good - he was very personable and engaging. The food and wine were good. It was a total of six in my party and we got two bottles of wine. A fire alarm kept going off during most of our dinner, and it was difficult to hear each other. Overall, not a bad time, but I can't say I'll be in a huge rush to return.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to the Oceanaire for a while now and had the opportunity to try it out when my mom was in town. We arrived at 10pm and was promptly greeted by the hostess who showed us to our table shortly after. Decor was elegant and ambiance is calming considering there were only a few tables occupied at that time. Our waiters/waitresses were all fantastic! I'm not sure if we had more than one assigned to our table but everyone made sure our experience was top notch and frequently checked in. For an appetizers, my mom had the Maryland crab soup, I had the calm cove oysters (Washington State), and we split an order of the jumbo sea scallops casino. My mom said her soup was good. My oysters were fresh but much smaller than I had expected. The little hot sauce that came with it was adorable and the sauces were great. The sea scallops were the winner here. They were cooked to perfection with a great balance of seasoning. The butter and bacon wasn't overpowering the scallops and the dish was nicely plated. My mom ordered their ribeye which was over cooked at first but was cooked perfectly the second time and seasoned just right! Honestly, didn't even need the steak sauce in my opinion. The chef personally came out to apologize which was nice. My shellfish trio pasta was a moss though! The seafood itself was nicely grilled. However, the overall pasta dish was very bland and the squid ink pasta was slightly over cooked. The side of vegetable fried rice was superb! It's actually better than a lot of Asian places I've ordered fried rice from! It definitely surprised me. We asked for it to be a little spicy and the chef delivered! It was flavorful and fragrant. Definitely a must try here! My love shack margarita didn't look like the photo online, def not as pretty but still tasteful albeit a bit watered down. Overal, we had a really good experience.

Yelp
I (party of 6) ate here last night to celebrate a friend's birthday dinner. This place exudes high class and luxury, so you definitely want to come dressed for the occasion. We were greeted and seated right away and served fresh bread not too shortly after. The drink menu was exhaustive, but still delicious (I had an Appletini and Guava Daquiri). To eat, I had the shrimp scampi. Easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. It was not too oily/buttery and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The service could have been a tiny better better. We had to wait longer than expected for our waiter to check on us and to bring the bill. Parking: Valet or nearby garage ($12)

Charnika P.

Yelp
Absolutely love Oceanaire's. You can't go wrong with anything here. I find the service to be impeccable and the good to be consistently good. I have never had a problem getting a reservation here as there generally is availability. My favorites on the menu include: - chicken fried lobster (OMG! The grits on this dish are outstanding!) - lobster Mac & cheese - cheese cake - toffee cake Pro tip- there is valet parking here but you will need cash

Lynn R.

Yelp
My birthday dinner was here Friday and the food was everythinggggggg!!! I had the swordfish with blue cheese butter (never heard of that before but it was delicious!!). Also had the lobster & crab mac for the win! The sautéed spinach and mushrooms were sooooo good! Our server was super nice and attentive!!! The drinks were amazing as well. The restaurant itself is super niceeeeee!

Yelp
Finally getting a chance to write this review, it's been a busy few weeks of traveling. I went here the day after celebrating the 4th with friends. We were excited because the hotel said it was a great place. When we arrived a woman with long dark hair and tattoos greeted us and an unfriendly man showed us to our table. As we were eating the lady was yelling and swearing loud enough that my guests with me stopped speaking. I was embarrassed to have taken them here. Not the upper class establishment it presents itself to be. We ate quickly and went and had drinks somewhere else. The food was okay at least.

Patty L.

Yelp
When I asked the hubs what he wanted to do for our 35th anniversary, he told me a fresh seafood dinner sounded good. Mind you, we live in a small town in the middle of the high desert of Northeastern Nevada, so this is a pretty tall order. I asked if he thought DC would have fresh enough seafood, he said sure, so we hopped on a plane for a few days in the Capitol City. We had lots of options, but after looking at a lot of them, we choose this establishment based on selection, location, and other reviews. It was a Sunday night, so it wasn't too busy. Our reservations weren't until 6:30, but we got there a little early since we were walking from our hotel and wanted to make sure we had plenty of time. We were greated warmly and the friendliness of staff immediately put us at ease. While we are foodies and love a good meal, fine dining in our community means putting on the good Levis or a pair of sequined jeans. We felt fancy dressing up for dinner. They got us right in and put us at an amazing table in the front where we had a view of the street. Even with other patrons in the restaurant, the noise level was minimal. The backgroud chatter and laughing of other guests was at a very respectable level. Our server, Daniella was very knowledgable and attentive. I can't remember the gentleman who came over and visited with us (I apologize that your name eludes me) to wish us a happy anniversary and present us with the menu scroll as an anniversary momento, but it was a very nice touch! We opted to share a single crab cake for an appetizer, as we knew we'd be wanting dessert. It was crisped to perfection and very flaky. The mustard mayonaisse was a very tasty enhancement. Hubs opted for the chicken fried lobster with cheese grits. He rated it a 9/10. I tried a bite of it and agreed that was a fair rating. It was really good, but comparing it to my crab stuffed barramundi, it would have been hard to give it a 10. So on to my meal. The crab stuffed barramundi was one of the most delicious fish dishes I've ever had. There was nothing about it that could have been better! The buttery smooth taste made it feel like every bite was melting in my mouth. The crab stuffing was perfectly seasoned, and it made the dish something I would eat again! A solid 10/10 in my opinion. We then went on to the dessert, which we both knew we wouldn't be able to finish. Since we both have very different tastes in dessert, though, we thought it would be best to order our own. Hubs ordered the cheesecake which he said was very good. Don't get me wrong, I love a good cheesecake, but he likes the extra fruity stuff and I like the sweet cookie types (think caramel, nuts, and chocolates for me - ha!) I ordered the sticky toffee pudding. While the whole thing was rich and decadent, my favorite part of it was the delicious ice cream. It was probably the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had. (I'm not typically a huge fan of vanilla ice cream, so this is a big deal for me.) I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Eileen G.

Yelp
This high end restaurant has nice ambiance and large round tables that are suitable for large parties. The food was a bit too salty - wish they could tone it down a little bit with sodium. If you celebrate birthdays here, you can bring your own cake but they'll charge a $5/person cake fee. The wait staff wears a white coat that looks more like a lab coat than a chef coat. Kinda weird but interesting!

Tina C.

Yelp
Not familiar with the area and didn't want to wander too far from our hotel so we stopped by the closest seafood restaurant and here we are... Appetizer: Mussels Cooked with grape tomatoes and sausages. It was just okay. Nothing to rave about. It had a strange taste to it. Oysters: The oysters were very fresh and decent size. Entree: Seafood mixed grill - the seafood was a bit bitter due to the grill. I think that grill was due for a cleaning. The squid pasta was great. Cooked perfectly and very lightly seasoned. 16Oz New York strip cooked to medium rare. If you can cook it to the right temp, then it's good. The bbq sauce was not used. I see people post about bad service. We had a wonderful bartender. He gave us recommendations and often checked on us. He asked if we wanted bread but I was unaware it was going to be $4 for bread and some chopped raw vegetables on the side. Overall, I think the food was overpriced, but it was a good experience.

Yelp
Top dollar seafood spot!....But, always delivers!! One of my favorite spots to dine for good seafood; especially during restaurant week. The dining room can get very loud, but the food more than compensates. By luck each time I have been here it has been off-peak hours and not real loud. During this visit, I came here for a birthday party of seven, we ordered the seafood appetizer family style, the waiter suggested two. So, we ordered two. And, a ton of main plates...I myself ordered two dinner entrees alone. Waaay too much food but worth it. Excellent food, but we couldn't get through one of the family size seafood appetizers. One is enough and you will have leftovers for home! For the main course, I ordered the surf & turf, which included the filet mignon and grilled shrimp. The steak came just as requested....medium, tender and juicy. It almost melted like butter to the knife. Almost melted in my mouth. I ordered also a Maryland jumbo lump crab that did not disappoint as well. It was a good size, hefty cake filled with crab meat and no filler...Definitely a "thumbs up" and must try. Everyone in the party gave good feedback on the dishes they tried. There was only a mixup on one of the plates and server quickly corrected it. In addition, he provided some desserts free of charge; including a small birthday cake slice with a candle for the birthday girl. It was a great gesture and the desserts were all killer! In all great great experience despite the slow service at times. But, I also blame is on it seeming that our waiter had too many tables or they were understaff....hence the slight deduction on the star rating. So, what do I recommend?....Everything!! Because I'm greedy! lol. No, just kidding. Oceanaire is the kind of place that you can just about close your eyes and point to anything on the menu.....and you will not be disappointed. I do, however, recommend a seared scallops & risotto dish that was amazing. Not sure if it's always on the menu but if it is...order it!! Top shelf restaurant and great cocktails too. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. Definitely recommend giving this spot a try for special occasions, 1 on 1 dates, group dinners and happy hour.

Antonia N.

Yelp
Overpriced and underwhelming. You know it's a bad sign when you walk in on a Saturday at dinner time and the place is empty. We had decent appetizers and salads but the super expensive entrees were not good. My crab stuffed baramundi was so dry and over cooked - it looked gross on the plate. Two bites and I sent it back. My husband's $65 Chilean sea bass with NO SIDES was cooked slightly better, but boring. Servers were nice and helpful. But, we won't be back.

Danie B.

Yelp
This place was unfortunately nothing to write home about. Came here on Christmas for last minute dinner. The waiter was very nice and attentive the entire time. Now for the food.....very very subpar. My boyfriend had the shrimp appetizer and sent it back because it was cold and nasty. I had shrimp tempura sushi which was decent. The drinks were WATERRRYYY, we had 2 apiece and with the cocktails being 17 bucks I was expecting at least a buzz.. but nothing. Entree for both of us was steak (decent), truffle mash potatoes (lacked seasoning, truffle where??) and the spinach... was spinach. Didn't even care to look at dessert. Would not come back here even if someone paid for me. The bread and ginger ale was the best thing here.

Tiara J.

Yelp
Love love love this place. Great drinks! Food fresh and tasty. Ambience was wonderful.

Yelp
Great ambiance and service. Our waitress was very accommodating with recommendations! It was a daughter- daddy night out and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and service. My daughter also learned her favorite choice of white wine with the assistance of our server!!

Yelp
Hands down still the best seafood room around. I've been to two locations one in Orlando and this went to DC and the quality of food is exactly the same, Superb. Our waiter was just simply amazing. He hooked my friend up for his birthday with a baked Alaska. The restaurant is very dim lit and very romantic. I like this location.

Judy L.

Yelp
It's been a few years! Today we returned to DC and had dinner at Oceanaire. Just as it was last time, the staff was great. We had a comfy large booth and great service. Our server Page was top notch! Very attentive, making sure to refill glasses and make suggestions on menu items. She definitely gave us great advice. She comped our chowder and dessert, and also promised if we didn't like her entree recs, she would make it right. OK, we know sometimes they do this to sell extra of one thing or another, but dinner was delish and all service was great. Everything was served at right time and temp. Watched her serve a table for 10 with the same great attitude and consideration. The bussers were all very efficient and pleasant, too. It was a great dining experience and a wonderful way to start our holiday weekend in DC after a long absence.

Yelp
Well me and my friend came to Oceanaire on September 26, 24. it was my birthday. We were so excited the atmosphere was nice. We arrived at 6:30 pm ordered our food, however at 7:30 pm no food, 7:50pm no food. We called the chef over and told him we did not get our food and we were on our way to a concert that started at 8:00. The chef pulled the table back and apologized and gave our drinks and oysters free. My friend told the chef it was my birthday the chef gave his number and card for us to call him to make up for the horrible experience, however my friend called the chef no answer no return call nor. Later my friend told me that she had spoken to the staff and wanted them to sing happy birthday to me but of course that did not happen either. I write because myself and my friend work everyday with good jobs and ask nothing for free but to sitting while others customers came in after and got their food seems to be so disrespectful, this was differently the worst experience

Yelp
We had Valentine's Day dinner here. The dinner lighting was dim just enough and not too darkly. We were sat at our reservation time. Out server greeted us, provided menus and shared drink recommendations. We ordered shrimp and grits appetizer. It was tasty. Nice sized shrimp and grits with shredded cheese on top. For our main courses my dining companion ordered surf and turf which is wagyu beef with caviar and grilled lobster tail with a blanc sauce. He ordered Brussel sprouts as his side. I opted for filet mignon and a crab cake with the lobster/crab Mac n cheese. Everything we ordered was delicious. There are generous portions of lobster and crab in the Mac n cheese. For dessert I ordered the key lime pie. It was a huge serving and is definitely shareable. I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Stopped at this restaurant on Sunday early evening. The host was very truthful. We sat at the bar. The bartender - Latoya - was a sweetheart. And very attentive. Place was nice and dim. Dining room looked very nice as well Food was good. ( except for green beans). We ordered crab cakes with fries. Sautés spinach. Asparagus. Wedge salad. All side dishes come in pretty large portions All came out in timely manner and were delicious. We added some salt And pepper. Drinks were made just up our liking. Recommend. We had a very nice experience.

Yelp
Could not praise this higher-end seafood and steak restaurant more for its outstanding food, service and atmosphere. I usually would not go out of my way to come to a place like this but my boss had made reservations for a group of us. The Seafood Tower was so good and delivered quite nicely. Of course you know I got a ribeye and there was absolutely nothing I could complain about.

Yelp
So, yes, this place is expensive. But that's not all! It is also totally quiet, a wonderful place for a date, a celebration, a key event that you want to honor with a nice dinner in a wonderful environment. In fact, a cool aspect that makes the overall experience quite fun is that the decor, including the light fixtures, makes you feel like you are under the sea yourself, which is where your dinner (assuming you are eating seafood--which if you are not, then why are you here?) was swimming likely just yesterday. Fresh fresh fresh is exactly what you get so yes, you must pay for that but oh my, what a wonderful dish I had: Antarctic Salmon! I've never had fish so well-prepared, and I got the "simple" version (two versions available on the menu). The staff, the atmosphere, the quality--everything just works together for a nice (but pricey) evening.

Yelp
Vibe- it was classy and simple. Service- our server was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and friendly. Food- the food was The star. They timed the courses well and allowed us time to eat and chill without rushing us through the courses. We started with oysters rockafella, calamari, and bread. Super fresh and tasty. Then we got the mixed grille and barammundi. I don't know of that cut of fish but it was a white fish. Nice texture and flavors. Our sides really complimented the dishes. The parm fries, Mac and cheese, and green beans were lovely. Cheesecake was huge and traditional ny style and made in house. Drinks- we had two specialty cocktails, a glass of wine, and bourbon. All nice pours and good flavors All in all a wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant for a birthday dinner. It was 12 of us. The majority ordered either the chicken fried lobster or the lobster fried rice...both were really good. Our service was very good until the very end. The waiter came over and asked "do you all want some shots since you're celebrating a birthday?" Of course we all said yes. She didn't ask us what kind of shot; instead she gave us a shot called "green tea" . When the bill came, the waiter charged $12 per shot (12 people). We were all surprised because normally when a waiter or bartender offers something (especially a birthday drink) it's usually on the house. We didn't mind paying, but we'd rather pay for a shot we wanted instead of something called green tea. The manager came over to ask if we enjoyed ourselves and we told him about the charge. He said that shouldn't have happened and adjusted our bill. Again, we didn't mind too much but it just seemed like the waiter was trying to add more to the bill to get an even larger tip or something.

Yelp
This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life!!! We called ahead to see if there was a wait and we were told no. We were promptly seated upon arrival. The restaurant was not even half full. This was the best part of the evening. We waited 15 minutes before the waiter came to take our order. We order clam chowder, fried calamari and a spicy lobster roll for appetizers. We order 2 steaks and a fish that I cant remember because we wanted sea bass and they didn't have it. The appetizers came after waiting 20 minutes. The soup and calamari were cold; the spicy roll was missing soy, ginger , wasabi and chop sticks. By the way, the waiter has not been seen since taking the order. We requested hot food after waiting 10 more minutes for the waiter to return. After about 45 minutes, the entrees came out wrong and the sides were warm at best. We asked for the manager. We explained how everything had been wrong and asked:"what's the problem". He said the kitchen was short staffed. He asked if we wanted our food redone correctly? I found that a little odd. Who wouldn't want this done? Shortly after leaving our table, the manger goes to a near by table where there are issues as well. We can hear the manger say he was comping the meals for this table because of the problems they experienced. We asked for to go boxes and the check, because we were tired at this point. The waiter brings the check and proudly states: " the manager took $159 off of our check". I look at the bill and the manager has removed $159 but it was because the food that was remade was charged twice. The $159 was for the returned food. 25 more minutes pas and the food comes out

Yelp
So my spouse made reservations for 2 on Valentine's Day at 9:30. As appropriately usual, we arrived 15 minutes early and valet parked our car. When entering inside, we were greeted by over 10-12 people in the open atrium area. Apparently the restaurant overbooked, so the wait was 30 minutes behind. Which though not ideal, I was willing to wait... UNTIL a couple 30 minutes into our wait came into the restaurant that (different complexion than the people waiting) was seated 5 minutes upon arrival. Apparently they come often. Needless to say, this experience thus far has me feel very overlooked, disregarded, and unvalued as a patron. To be transparent, after we witness this matter, we immediately asked the maître (which we found out was the manager) how many people were in front of us. We were told 7 people- that was at 9:50pm. .... So far at 10:00pm we are still not seated. I will update my review once our visit has been concluded. ... It is now 10:48pm and we have been seated for about 20 mins with just water. No one has asked to take our order and the restaurant stops seating at 11pm. ...A waiter came over at 10:50pm after I asked who is waiting our table. The food was subpar. We only stayed 20 mins after our food came at 11:40pm because it was late and we were tired at this point.

Yelp
The cheese cake was phenomenal. It broke up a lil bit but I didn't complaint knowing it was whole. Only complaint I had was when I ordered catering I wanted each order in separate trays but they did combine a lot of items I had different tables I wanted each item set up on but maybe I should've been more specific in the notes. I had got so many compliments on the cheesecake and filet mignon dinner it made my night choosing this restaurant for my event. Oh and the crab cakes and mini crab cakes was so good I'm still hearing about the food the next day. The workers helped me out to the car and I was able to grab my order in front of the valet and it was ok. My order was ready when I arrived thank you

Yelp
I was searching for good restaurant to have a wedding anniversary dinner. We have a seafood dinner each time. While researching places, I came across this. Read good reviews and some not so good reviews. It seems like it may vary but the bad reviews are usually isolated incidents it seems like and they are just the complaining type. Had dinner here on a Wednesday night at 7pm. Not many people inside. That was a plus because that meant reduced noise and quicker service at the table. The lighting was good and the music was light. Prior to arriving, I made a reservation. I made it know it was our wedding anniversary in the online form. Arriving, we were giving menus and it said, "Happy 10th Anniversary", which is an awesome thing to do and not even expected. My wife enjoys those type of things. The service was great. Knowledgeable waitress. Drinks were great. The Chilean Seabass is excellent and recommend it. Perfectly seared and tasted well. My wife had the scallops w/ risotto and she had no complaints The dessert we had was the raspberry/strawberry cheesecake. Very big portion and can serve 2. It was very good. I would surely come back to this place for a special occasion. Side note: prior to walking in, it states on the door that proper dress attire is required. We dressed semi/business casual and saw others who were dressed down even more.

Yelp
I'm a frequent guest to Oceanaire's around the country, and the DC location was a huge disappointment. While the food was okay, the service was abysmal with absolutely no follow up once the meal was served. (And for whatever reason, this location was not serving pre-meal veggies nor sourdough bread.) This location needs help from corporate IMMEDIATELY.

Yelp
If you want amazing above and beyond service in this beautiful restaurant you definitely need to go to the Oceanaire Seafood Room. The food was absolutely fantastic everything we ordered was delicious. From the time we walked in the door we had amazing service, Maynor was or server and hats off to him because he definitely is doing his job with white glove service he even made the menu special by telling my husband congratulations on it. We took all of his recommendations and so glad we did the seafood was delicious best restaurant we have been to here in Penn Quarters Thank you Oceanaire for helping me make my husband's celebration special. We definitely will be back!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my birthday. I've been to the Oceanaire in Minneapolis and it was phenomenal, so we figured we would try this location. The service was exceptional, they really took care of us. I got a complimentary birthday dessert, it was really nice. The food - the crab cake was amazing. Didnt see the lobster bisque or branzino that I typically love to order. We got the halibut and it was cooked ok. The sides were not that great though. We got the fried rice and it tasted like it's been in storage for days. I understand that fried rice is made with older cooked rice, but I think they took it too far here. The creamed corn we ordered tasted like arroz con leche (rice pudding), too sweet and too much milk, I would recommend you put some corn grits in your recipe. Overall, it was good, but for the money we spent, food needs to be more on point. Your sister restaurant in MN is far better for the same price.

Yelp
Updating my review, as we were kindly invited back for a true Oceanaire experience! Just had the most amazing dinner experience here. Our server Maynor really upped the game with his knowledge of the menu and professionalism. And the food . Wow. Ordered the calamari and shrimp cocktail to start. Both 10/10. Excellent. Then the main courses get even better. The center cut 10 oz filet was the most tender buttery cut of meat I've ever had. Barely needed a knife. Cooked to perfection. Then we got the swordfish that came with this delectable buttery bleu cheese sauce. Very mild for bleu cheese but added the perfect flavor to the swordfish. Would never have guessed those two flavors go together! Let's not forget the truffle mashed potatoes. So buttery and decadent. Are the whole thing on my own. I can't wait to return. Definitely on par with the best Landrys owned restaurants.

Yelp
This was a stellar evening and a superb restaurant -- the best seafood restaurant we've been to in the DC area. Morad, our server, was incredibly pleasant and friendly, as well as extremely knowledgeable. He made some excellent recommendations. When the bread was delivered shortly after we sat down, it was accompanied by a cold plate with carrots, cucumbers, peppers, pickles, olives, and radishes. A nice surprise. The hot peppers in particular were great (so was the bread -- sourdough). My wife had a Hendricks martini, which she enjoyed, and I had a guava daiquiri, which I loved. We then had a dozen oysters (mixed: Kusshi, Pearls, and Maryland), which were also very good. For entrees, we shared crabcake and an ahi tuna, and, again, both were exceptional. So were the side dishes: grilled asparagus and perhaps the best creamed corn we've ever had. We finished with a wonderful baked Alaska, which had really good meringue. Excellent service (our water glasses were filled constantly) and great food -- and street parking less than a block away!
