So, I've had this place on my radar for some time, and wanted to come check it out. Why, you ask, when there's a million different coffee shops, both big and small, corporate and independent that I could have gone to instead? Because this one is supposed to be part office, part hang out and part coffee shop. I like that idea since I'm usually there not just for the coffee, but the environment as well.
I really struggled with this review for a variety of reasons, and left feeling somewhat conflicted. Initially, I left thinking "I'm not coming back here, it's not what I expected. Total one star." But, after I thought about it, I then thought that was a bit harsh, so I will explain my experience here.
When I got here, I was initially impressed with the layout and available seating. Plenty of windows, blah blah blah. I was greeted by two guys at the counter who were more then willing to answer my questions. As I walked around the back, I realized that they have additional seating in the back, along with a printer, and a few rooms you can reserve if you need them. Cool.
Anyways, here's where I started to go sour. First off, I was hoping that they had a bit more privacy. Like a quiet zone or something. Not that it was loud, but I always had the impression that you could come in, work, meet with people and it's a great neutral ground. I didn't feel that way. I felt like it's a super nice coffee shop with a great setup, but if you're trying to have a more serious conversation, this might not be the place for that.
Second, and most importantly, the wifi connection was horrible. I would log in, go and do stuff, plugging away, then get disconnected somehow. Way uncool. It's not my computer because I have no problem connecting anywhere else but here. Then, after getting kicked off a few times, I tryed to punch back in the password and it told me I was fine. Well, the first 5 times I got booted it worked, now it doesn't? UUGGGGHHHHH NO time for this!!!!!!
So, I packed up to leave. Forget it. I need the internet connection to get anything done, and if that doesn't work, I'll go somewhere closer to home. But here's the funniest part. As I'm packing up, I glanced over into one of their reserved rooms, and there's a yoga class going on. I'm like, WHAT? about 10 people were crammed in there doing yoga. I'm like WTF. I stared for a minute, then laughed to myself, and thought, what an odd place for Yoga!!!
Anyways, I want to like this place, but unless I can get back online the next time I'm back here without any problems, I'm not coming back.
