The Office Review - Fulton Market - Chicago - The Infatuation

"The Aviary’s basement bar, The Office, takes exclusivity to another level: you need a key to get in. Which means this clubhousey cocktail lounge decked out in leather couches and ornately framed artwork is great if you're a celebrity dodging the paparazzi or avoiding an ex after a Fulton Market run-in. But even if you’re not trying to be incognito, they’re still worth a visit. Just give your wallet a heads up beforehand—cocktails start at $25, like a gin fizz with a creamy layer of egg white and hints of thai basil and cardamom. But if the company card “accidentally” falls into your hands—well, why not give a $400 Brooklyn made with vintage 1940s whiskey a try?" - John Ringor

The office is a great place to have a good drink that is not overpriced. The only thing I don't like is the setup. It's very ugly, poorly designed. Plenty of parking. They don't serve food but it's a restaurant next door.

Shanell is an awesome bartender, all of the bartenders here are awesome. The atmosphere is friendly, people are friendly; they even have regular tables and chairs so that short people don't have to struggle climbing the bar stools. Drinks are especially great.

My first visit to this establishment. Very relaxed atmosphere and what you would expect for this type of business in a small strip mall. The DJ did an awesome job for the mixed generation crowd (not too young). My husband and I had a date night and to end the night we joined our friends who was celebrating a birthday. The employees at the bar were very attentive, did not have a long wait, and made our drinks just as we requested. There was a gentleman standing at the bar that paid for my husband and my drinks. Not sure why but we were very grateful and appreciative. (I was confused at first because we had just had a conversation in the car about how much cash we had on us collectively to pay for our drinks) I am also thankful that there is security and someone to pat down the patrons to give us that extra sense of security. Had never heard of this place and drive by here at least once every few months and never noticed it was here. Thanks to a great ending to date night!

Nice bar but watch your card. I bought 2 separate drinks for $7 each. I added a $3 tip for 1 drink and a $2 for the other. Both clearly written on the receipts. I check my card and was charged $5 extra dollars. So someone tipped themselves an extra $5. I will now drink before I go here or use cash only. Im so dIsappointed that my card was charged extra without my knowledge. They have a great DJ he plays a great mixture of music. Mature crowd (30-65). Neighborhood bar.
