The Eccentric Inns of England

The Old Rectory (Hastings, East Sussex) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The seaside resort town of Hastings sees enough traffic to support some biggish hotels, but none are as stylish as the Old Rectory, a nine-room bed and breakfast owned by a fashion designer whose fine taste is evident in every detail. Thanks to its small size (and its 10-and-up policy) it’s refreshingly quiet, and while every room is different they’re connected by a unified aesthetic that combines period atmosphere and contemporary visual impact. Spa treatments are available, as is a generous made-to-order breakfast; the location, on the edge of Hastings’ old town, places you close to any number of local restaurants." - Tablet Hotels

Our stay at The Old Rectory was pleasant and comfortable. We visited Hastings mid-week, and so the hotel was not very busy, and we had no issues parking. The house is beautiful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Crown suite, and having a nice hot bath was particularly relaxing. ||The staff were very polite and friendly, and gave us a warm greeting when we arrived at around 4pm. However, I was shocked to discover that nobody was around later in the evening or throughout the night. Upon failing to find a hairdryer in the room, I went downstairs to ask - but nobody was in the main room, entrance area or in the office when I knocked. I even tried ringing the phone number on the room welcome card - but there was no response...||I understand it is common for B&B's to issue a front door key for access during the later hours of the day, but typically someone is still present at the property, even if they are not on the front desk - but that didn't seem to be the case here. We found this quite unnerving given the size of the property and the fact it was basically empty.||Generally though - it was a nice overnight stay, and the breakfast was delicious!

Stayed here for my cousin’s hen and we had the whole place rented out. First of all, the staff were amazing! Could not be more accommodating and laid back. They made everything relaxed and couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and would highly recommend. Definitely going to stay again in the future.

This is what you expect from a good hotel. Just the right amount of Customer Service, staff prepared to go that extra step to ensure your stay is perfect. Natalie is an exceptional host alongside colleague Emily. Chef Yanik, was welcoming and accommodated all requests regarding breakfast, he also went that extra mile to ensure we were parked and settled after negotiating getting to the hotel during the Hastings Carnival Parade. Local information was provided and was accurate. This is a really great hotel and the staff make it extra special. Breakfast is amazing 👏 Thank you all for making a lovely weekend extra special.

Perfect, idyllic, lovely, homely and friendly. A charming and lovely place to escape from every day hustle and bustle. For us it was the perfect place t host our nearest and dearest for our wedding. Natalie runs the place with an easy confidence, always reassuring, and nothing is to much trouble. They have a marriage license which meant we could have our simple ceremony in the incredibly beautiful gardens. The rooms are all lovely, and our guests were unanimous; the breakfasts are outstanding. We love the Old Rectory!

The best hotel I stayed in so far. Fantastic service, great food, the treatment room professionals are amazing, rooms are very well-furnished, and there is a private back garden with a pond. Plus we were upgraded to a bigger room when Natalie learned we were here for our anniversary. Thank you The Old Rectory team for a great stay!

We visited for afternoon tea on the 27th July and were served tea in the beautiful garden at the rear of the house. The cakes and sandwiches were delicious and our server Emily was very friendly and helpful throughout. Overall it was a wonderfully relaxing experience and we would highly recommend! Great value for the quality of the food and service provided!

A huge thank you to Nat and the team for making our wedding day perfect and looking after us during our stay. The experienced team know exactly what they are doing and we didn't need to worry about anything on the day, it was all taken care of. Highly recommend the new cafe for any smaller wedding parties.
