Our stay at The Old Rectory was pleasant and comfortable. We visited Hastings mid-week, and so the hotel was not very busy, and we had no issues parking. The house is beautiful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Crown suite, and having a nice hot bath was particularly relaxing. ||The staff were very polite and friendly, and gave us a warm greeting when we arrived at around 4pm. However, I was shocked to discover that nobody was around later in the evening or throughout the night. Upon failing to find a hairdryer in the room, I went downstairs to ask - but nobody was in the main room, entrance area or in the office when I knocked. I even tried ringing the phone number on the room welcome card - but there was no response...||I understand it is common for B&B's to issue a front door key for access during the later hours of the day, but typically someone is still present at the property, even if they are not on the front desk - but that didn't seem to be the case here. We found this quite unnerving given the size of the property and the fact it was basically empty.||Generally though - it was a nice overnight stay, and the breakfast was delicious!
