What a cool spot. So trendy and rooms were very large. Greeted with champagne and water. After a long trip was nice to settle in. Has an old school charm. Not your typical modern hotel stay. Great photo opts and great little spot located right next to the places you may like to go. Definitely recommend

Absolutely wonderful hotel! So charming - right in the heart of downtown Knoxville! Upon check-in, you are offered champagne or a beer! Our room was big and overlooked the Market area (shops and restaurants). They have a really cool speakeasy - had a drink there before dinner. Walked around the corner to Stock and Barrel for dinner - great burger and amazing fries! Big TV’s for watching sports. Connected to the Oliver is a Tupelo Honey restaurant and the hotel’s nice restaurant called Oliver Royale - I intend to try that if we get back to Knoxville. I will for sure stay here again unless it’s a game day weekend - a little pricey then. You can’t beat the location for exploring downtown.

My husband and I are locals and decided to treat ourselves for our anniversary with an overnight stay downtown. The hotel staff was very welcoming. We loved our room! The King suite was quite spacious and decorated tastefully. The location is great due to the proximity to so many great restaurants and entertainment. We enjoyed the evening stroll down Gay Street and around Market Square. The hotel kindly comped us a couple drinks at the Peter Kern library, so we visited there as well. It has a cool vibe in there and a great ambiance. I would definitely recommend The Oliver to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Knoxville.

Though our stay was brief, our experience was great! The check in process was smooth and our request to upgrade to a king room was honored at no additional charge. The suite we were in was very comfortable, clean and cozy. The check out process was also smooth.

If you are tempted to default to a chain hotel for your visit to Knoxville…don’t! The Oliver is a delightful alternative. The rooms are large, decorated with real style and real comfort. Great location right on the market square, interesting local menu in the restaurant and an outstanding and atmospheric speakeasy bar. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

The Oliver Hotel offers all the old world charm with modern amenities. The location is fantastic on Market Square and easy access to campus. Our favorite spot every time we visit.

We stayed one night at this beautiful hotel on Market Square. The decor is a bit dated but the rooms large and very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the climate control was intuitive/easy to use.||The staff were helpful and attentive.||The hotel restaurant is outstanding, see separate review.

Great stay at The Oliver! The room was very nice and the proximity to everything was so convenient. The staff was more than welcoming. We typically stay in the Hilton family of hotels but in Knoxville it will only be The Oliver moving forward.

Super cool hotel to stay in! The evening/night concierge was made the stay even better, very welcoming and gracious. Our room was missing a few amenities that was advertised and he was able to remedy. I only rated it 3 stars because we still felt we were missing amenities. Also the advertised evening house keeping that provided turn down service and ice delivery was confusing, we didn't get it either two nights we were there. It could've also been cleaned better. We found trash in the couch, under the chair, and that was a miss. We'd love to go back but will have to definitely think about it.

What a hidden gem! The staff is fantastic! The rooms are well equipped and the bed was super comfy! We will stay here every time we travel to Knoxville! Came to see Scott Bradlee's Post modern jukebox. Short walk to the Tennessee theater and the speakeasy was great after the show!

I traveled to the Knoxville area and stayed at this hotel for a few days. The location is good for walking around the downtown/market street area, but I did not find many parking areas close to the hotel. There is not anyone or a service available to carry or help you with your luggage if you do park farther away. The hotel room from the inside is clean and cozy with a few minor maintenance defects. The room service I ordered was not a pleasant experience. I ordered something off the menu and the attendant brought something completely different. There was no reorder for the correct items or apology offered. This was probably not the worst place I have been to, but it was not the best either. I do not think it is worth the value of the price for the hotel room. You may be better off staying somewhere else here with better service. There is no onsite gym available and the one suggested to me was not close by the area.

Love the Oliver, everyone is always so friendly and happy to chat and help you with whatever you need!! Check out the bar area in the Oliver Royal and the beautiful building!! The restaurant attached: the Oliver Royal is awesome too. Anne is fabulous btw.

This place is great. The location is wonderful and the King Suites are comfortable. The staff is limited, but friendly and helpful. The furnishings are charming. I took away one star for price - we stayed the following week at the Embassy Suites up the road (see that review) and they are much more competitive on price with better views and amenities. The Oliver isn't so charming that it doesn't need to price compete.

There are so many reasons to love The Oliver Hotel. The location is perfectly located. The amenities include bikes to borrow and close to cool urban and nature trails. The speakeasy is kitschy fun. The artwork throughout is super fabulous. The service was top notch. My husband and I travel a bunch and the concierge Chris Dunbar was amazing. We felt like his personal guests. He was equal parts informative, warm, welcoming and so funny. We can't wait to come back!

Not the best experience here! Wouldn't stay again unless it was under $100/night. No idea how they charge what they do for the level of grime we encountered. The decor style is lovely but already struggling since the renovation - has not been well kept. And certainly not properly cleaned between guests. I love a boutique hotel but I'd forgo the experience in downtown Knoxville and stay in one of the newer nicer chains with more to offer.

If you're dumb enough to stay here enjoy the thin walls, LOUD A/C, dated rooms, noisy drunks, oddly thick pillows, 50 somethings on pills, herds of bridal livestock, non-existent valet service, two block walk to parking structure, less than sharpest knife manning the speakeasy door. Ask for AJ if you do find yourself here. Easily the most competent of the staff.

We had a truly awful experience here on 3/17/23. My husband had booked and prepaid two months in advance for a suite for two nights at a cost of $1900 for our family of five. We arrived around 9:30pm and initially had a nice reception from the front desk clerk/valet, Chris. He welcomed us with champagne and niceties. We checked in to the suite to find one king bed and a pull out that only accommodated four people when five people had been confirmed in our booking, made through Expedia. The Oliver tried to place the responsibility squarely on Expedia for the mistake. However, it's up to The Oliver to be aware of how Expedia is marketing this property. It should not be on the customer. We were willing to split up and have my husband and son move into one of the many available queen rooms. We were more than understanding to split up and didn't expect those rooms to be adjoining. To our dismay, Chris let us know the asst general manager, AJ Dave expected that we pay the full rate of $400 per night for that additional room to accommodate us. If we wouldn't, he said to Chris "tell them to go elsewhere." We felt that having to pay that much on top of the nightly rate we had already paid was incredibly unfair and greedy. We have traveled extensively and have never been treated with such unprofessionalism. They had no problem losing our business, which was shocking considering they had several open rooms. Chris became quite rude when we explained we expected them to accommodate our family of five given the confirmation we had received. He refused and I had to scramble to find another hotel late on this Friday night for our tired family who had just driven for 4+ hours for our first stay in Knoxville. Thankfully we found The Graduate Hotel and are so grateful they had availability at that late hour in our time of need. How on earth did The Oliver willingly tell us to go elsewhere? $1900 out the door with open rooms!? Absolutely Horrible customer service. Thank you The Graduate Hotel Knoxville for your warm hospitality. We will be back over the next four years many times over!

Great experience. Our room was "small" and normally that might bother me, but not here, because every inch of the place is adorable. The bathroom was super cute as well. Staff was extra friendly. Great location next to the square. Very convenient to have different restaurants within the building. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel! We stayed for one night and fell in love with the place. Our room was clean, tidy, and had every amenity we could possibly need and some we hadn't even thought we would need. The cookies left on our robes were a delicious homey touch. I loved the basket of green and red apples made available for guests on every floor. The highlight is obviously the speakeasy library. Our literary libations were made to perfection! The bartenders know their craft and execute it with precise flare. Watching the absinthe served the correct way was so interesting. Breakfast in the library was a delicious assortment of pastries, juices, fruit, and biscuits and gravy. A hearty and savory way to start the day. Highly recommend this hotel and looking forward to a return visit!

The Oliver hotel was a luxury splurge for my birthday. The rooms are large and spacious and everything is of the best quality. Because it was my birthday, they gave me two complimentary cocktail vouchers to the Peter kerns library. The staff was friendly and everything was lovely. Situated near the center of Market Square, The Oliver is perfectly located near a lot of great restaurants and is within walking distance of the Tennessee Theater. If you want to treat yourself, then the Oliver Hotel is perfect.

My husband and I are Knoxville locals. We stayed at The Oliver last night for the first time since it was a convenient location to stay after seeing a show at the TN Theater. We LOVED the Oliver. Charming building that feels elegant and historic. Great picture books of Knoxville in the room. We booked a King room and were upgraded to a suite which was magnificent. Great shower and bathroom. Very comfortable bed. AJ checked us in, brought us ice and took care of getting our car parked. Super friendly service. The Oliver has a unique and somewhat secretive speak easy style bar that we checked out at 11pm. It was packed. Unique drinks. No beer on the menu. We highly recommend staying at The Oliver. I travel for business about 40-50 nights a year and generally stay in Hampton Inn type hotels. The Oliver is a real treat compared to standard business travel hotels.

This hotel was top notch. My husband and I have traveled the world staying in many hotels. This by far rates high on our list. We loved the location, the service was outstanding. Everyone was so helpful it felt like we were the number one guests. The restaurant was absolutely delicious and a night cap at the Peter Kern Library, my husband can't stop talking about how good his Old Fashioned was. We choose to stay here because Air BnB rates have gone up and if you're going to pay the price you may as well get the amenities. I'm sad we only stayed one night. This place is a dream.

If you want a hotel with coughing employees and management not responding to emails or phone calls (AJ), then this is the place for you.

What a great, relaxing weekend! They've recently updated and it's incredible. I love how they focused on every detail: the coffee is delicious (and served all day), the pillows are amazing, the artwork is hip, and even the carpet is cool. Who thinks about carpet?? The Oliver, that's who. The staff treated us like royalty - they went above and beyond to make our stay super fun every time they saw us. You must go to the speak easy and the restaurant. I HIGHLY recommend the Oliver Suite. We can't wait to go back.

Very quaint and cozy. Love the prohibition feel and I can't wait to check out the downstairs "library". Which is code for their speakeasy. This hotel is right in the city center, so you are in walking distance to cute restaurants.

What a quaint, fun, boutique hotel. First of all, the location is right in the heart of downtown Knoxville, so you're central to everything, on foot. Very charming lobby, friendly, warm staff, and the rooms are simple and elegant. It does show some age, but it's more of what I would describe as 'well loved, well used'; it doesn't detract from the flavor and style of the hotel. We were in town for a concert and spent some time in the 'Library' bar...a tucked away, ambient space for great drinks and great bartenders. Before we went out for the evening, they came up with artisan ice and hand made macaroons, along with some fresh fruit. Wonderful stay at a wonderful hotel! We loved romantic Knoxville, and will be back to stay at the Oliver for another get away in the future!

Old style classy place with excellent service! I had left my electronic toothbrush behind and they called to tell me. Not only did they call me but they shipped it to me at no charge. Very cool area with many food choices. I appreciate the service and the ambience of the place

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. My room was super loud, a large rumbling sound all night long from an outside AC unit from what I can tell even the bed was vibrating! Lots of gross carpet stains as well as stains on the ceiling and walls. The Oliver is far from a fancy boutique hotel and I can't believe I paid 230 dollars to say in this place what a joke.

This rating is solely on the service, the hotel was great don't get me wrong but the service drives this review. From the moment we walked in the front desk gentlemen made sure we were taken care of. The room was roomy, the bathroom I could have lived in! Bed was comfy, clean, lots of in room amenities, quiet. The only thing I could pick at was the carpet had some stains, especially by the elevator, but that doesn't bother me. Thank you again for an amazing stay.

We stayed 3 nights here and it was a great location. We had a room that looked over the market square which was nice and the amenities were great. We used the car valet service when we needed to leave otherwise we walked around to some great restaurants close by as well as the restaurants attached to the hotel. I appreciate the boutique hotel experience because I find the service and character to be such a highlight vs the corporate name hotels that are just so vanilla. I'll definitely stay there again!

Such a lovely hotel! Amazing staff, bar and rooms. Perfect location! Not only was everything amazing but I also left my diamond earrings in the room and they shipped them to me in Ohio. This place is unlike your normal chain hotel. It's worth it and I will be returning !

I purposely chose this hotel because of its advertised anti-Covid procedures. However, they do not enforce any mask requirements. While the staff was wearing asks when I arrived, there were also people in the small lobby with no masks. Later there also was a wedding party sitting in the lobby -- again no masks. This was despite the fact that Tennessee at this point has one of the highest Covid infection rates. Nonetheless, the room itself was very clean and quite comfortable.

This hotel deserves a 4.5 but not a 5. Overall, I must say that this is a very fine hotel that I would definitely stay in again. Pros: Luxury boutique hotel with well styled rooms. Front desk employee was very professional and courteous. Bath supplies are gilchrist and soames which I feel is upper end. Linens and towels are top notch. Location is amazing. Cons: The street was blocked off so it took me a while to find where to go. That information would have been nice when I booked (and I booked the night before so it's not like that information was not available). There was a old coffee packet left in the coffee machine. My deadbolt seemed like it didn't work but the front desk informed me it was electronic. That being said, the deadbolt mechanism never moved so it would have been nice to be informed this at checkin as opposed to standing there for five minutes trying to get it to work. There is no pay per view movies (I'm old fashioned and feel all hotels should have this option)

What an absolutely delightful little boutique hotel in the heart of DT Knoxville. Charm, style, quietly elegant. Felt older, and perhaps a little historic, but restored and lovely. Oozed w charm. VERY lovely friendly staff. We stayed on the top (3rd floor) in a room (309) w a sep sitting room. I was expecting it to be small like sobe, but I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort and space. The nice size bathroom had two sinks and a gorgeous walk in shower -- all white subway tiles, w heavy glass door...I would hire someone to put the same gorgeous bath in my own home. White tile everywhere incl floors, just elegant, period. Bed- dreamy comfy. We ate at one of the two restaurants (not Tupelo Honey) and both oooed and awwwed the whole dinner. I had the most elegant salmon in a lemongrass broth, w wild mushroom, tomato and I think a thinly sliced cabbage-- the salmon was perfectly cooked w crisp skin attached and just a flipping fabulous meal in a bowl. Incredible. He had the tastiest burger w beef from a local farm-- artisan aged cheddar, just to die for. House made mayo. The meat was over the top tasty and pure quality. Fries perfection. Yummmmm! Server very attentive and pleasant-- just a great overall experience. I highly recommend this sweet, elegant little boutique hotel when you're in the Knoxville area, you won't be disappointed.

It's an older hotel so the rooms are a bit smaller, but well appointed. The courteous and professional staff give it the personal touch. There is a really cool bar / speakeasy attached to this hotel and there are 2 restaurants connected (theirs and a Tupelo Honey). Lots to do in this cozy oasis in the heart on Scruffy City. Not sure why they call Knoxville scruffy

Great service, spacious room, and central location. The staff went out of their way to make sure their guests had a great stay - they were knowledgeable of the history of Knoxville, gave great restaurant recommendations, and when the speakeasy bar was crowded he served us drinks in the lobby.

We stayed at the Oliver after having our trip to gatlinburg cancelled due to the forest fires affecting our cabin we were scheduled to stay in. We called the Oliver hotel and they were able to accommodate us last minute. We were obviously stressed after having to figure out last minute plans, but when we got there Laura from the front desk was extremely helpful in helping us get settled. She gave us suggestions on where to go for beers, dinner, and cocktails. We took all of her suggestions and they did not disappoint. We took an Uber to 2 breweries and it was a only about a 5 minute drive from brewery to brewery. We love checking out new microbreweries in every city that we visit. We checked out Last Days of Autumn Brewing and Shultz Brau. Both were great suggestions considering most of the other breweries were closed since we stayed in town on Monday when most businesses are closed. When you check into the Oliver, you receive a voucher for a cocktail at the "library" which is their take on a speakeasy bar. We sat at the bar and watched the mixologists make these exquisite drinks. It was truly an experience watching them make the cocktails. Overall, the old feel of the hotel was quaint. I definitely recommend staying here. The close proximity to the market square, and other attractions makes it an A in my book.

My boyfriend & I decided to take a short getaway because the quarantine was giving us a little cabin fever. We stumbled upon The Oliver Hotel and decided to give it a try because we had never stayed at a boutique-style hotel. From entering the front door, to checking out a day later than planned, we were blown away. It's a very classy, charming, unique hotel -- unlike anything we've ever seen. The service was amazing and the craft cocktails were delicious! You can tell every aspect of the experience was thought out from beginning to end. It was a real treat and we definitely plan to visit anytime we're in the area.

I went to this hotel on Tuesday, Veterans Day and it is such a nice hotel. I park in the garage behind the building. It was clean, quiet and they called us by name. No loud noises...Its very convienant to nice bars, boutiques,resturants and book stores. I and my son actually left the hotel to go walking downtown..and to our surprise it was the Veterans Parade. Note: when you walk in grab a bottle and pour yourself some wine..yes !!! Its in the room when you enter ( I didnt drink no alchol I was with my 5 year old son..so I had to keep it Mommy Classy Another Note: The garage behind the building expect to pay the cashier everytime you leave the building..even if you are just going to the store..trust me. They do not have a flat rate for you to pay one time. Its free anytime after 6pm This hotel is beautiful and I will visit it again, I had no problems

Amazing hotel. Great location right next to market square and above Tupelo Honey. You can walk to bars and to Neyland stadium too. The hotel staff is courteous especially AJ! You have to hit up their speak easy bar and get a Moscow Mule. It's worth it.

First of all, you absolutely cannot beat the location of this adorable, boutique hotel. It's within walking distance of everything downtown. We stayed in the Oliver suite on the 3rd floor that overlooked the corner of market square and Krutch park. The room itself was lovely. The bed was comfortable and had a huge, beautiful tufted velvet headboard. The room offered several snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and traveling essentials available at your convenience for a reasonable price. Our room had a shower as well as a soaking tub large enough for two. In the lobby, you can pop through the roped off section of the small speakeasy bar Peter Kern Library like the friggin VIP that you are. We were gifted two complimentary beverages upon check-in. Not sure if this is customary or if we got lucky. Every drink was strong and tasty. I wish I could remember what all we ordered. We tried several. You can also enter through the back of the newer restaurant, the Oliver Royale. We opted to only have drinks, but they too were strong and delicious. The staff at the hotel, restaurant, and bar were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our room and to say the manager went above and beyond is an understatement. We have never been treated like royalty the way we were treated during our stay at the Oliver. This will be an occasional treat for sure, but we will absolutely return for a future stay and recommend this hotel to any out of towners looking for a place to stay downtown.

Oh my god. This is a luxury hotel in the midst of the wilderness. On my way to ride the tail of the dragon with the family in tow and we stopped here. Impeccable accommodations a friendly staff and right in the center of town which appears to be geared up for walking and seeing the sights.

Better than a 4, but don't have a 4.5 option. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Right in the heart of Knoxville where you can walk to everything! We were just there for the Tennesse Georgia football game and I wanted to park the car and be done for the weekend. VERY doable. Some of the amenities include $15 per day 24-hour valet parking which was worth it to me so that we didn't have to worry about where we were parked on a game weekend. They have water and apples available in the lobby 24/7, and bowls of apples scattered throughout the hotel. Coffee is available in the library in the mornings. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. They were sold out (football weekend) so no opportunity to take advantage of an upgrade offer, but we did get complimentary cocktails in the Peter Kern Library. Everyone was smiling and seemed happy! Well appointed rooms with extremely comfy beds. Upscale bath products are provided. There was a stocked snack "bar" that even had a couple of bottles of wine and a bottle of bourbon. NICE! The refrigerator was stocked with sodas, but we still had room to put in a bottle of wine and water that we had brought with us. Market Square is a few steps away and other great restaurants are within a block or two. Tupelo Honey will give you the VIP treatment (make you a priority on the wait list) if you let them know you are staying at the hotel. The Peter Kern Library (mentioned above) is in the hotel and has a speakeasy vibe - look for the red light in the alley behind the hotel. The Casual Pint craft beer bar is right next door (bartenders were very friendly), and there is a great little creperie called the French Market a couple of blocks away. Neyland Stadium is a little over a mile away and depending on where you want to go on the strip, you are no more than 2 miles from most anything. There is a golf cart taxi service available called "joyride" that runs around the campus and downtown area that is well worth the experience. If you are there during the season, there is a great farmer's market, I believe on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Here are the downsides. I want to be clear that most of these I wouldn't even bother to mention if it weren't for the price point of the hotel on a football weekend, but more on that in a minute. The room was on the small side, which I know is very common with boutique hotels: I believe we had a standard queen. There were some spots of peeling paint along the baseboards of our room. The Friday/Saturday nightly rate is very pricey for Knoxville, it was almost triple the Sunday night rate. I get that it is football time in Tennessee and I knew what it would cost going in, but I decided to splurge this weekend since it was my husband's first trip to Neyland Stadium and I wanted to give him the full experience. There seemed to be some sort of street cleaning/overnight activity going on in the wee hours of Monday morning. I know it is primarily a business district, and not the fault of the hotel, but perhaps they should reach out to the city of Knoxville and see if they can adjust their street cleaning schedule or whatever the heck they were doing to avoid disturbing their guests. Bottom line - I would absolutely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone! I might look for other less expensive downtown alternatives if it is a football weekend. But maybe not :-)...it is not like we do this every weekend. Or even every year for that matter. But any other trip to Knoxville this will definitely be my hotel of choice going forward!

J'adore! This little gem has everything a traveling woman needs and wants. First, bath salts! (The tub kind). I soaked into a nice tub and relaxed with a glass of red from the fairly priced bottle in my room! Classy! There were other snacks and treats and water, which I actually needed as my drive from Nashville was long and I arrived late. I have a broken to do the $15 valet was so needed! There is a bar, care and restaurant plus a cite downtown to explore. I was going to skip the hotel restaurant but after a rainy walk to the other restaurant I decided to return. Yes, I ventured out in the rain with a boot. But I felt I needed a stroll. Oliver Hotel, you are a great relief to the tired traveling business woman! Thank you!

We stayed at the Oliver for a downtown wedding. Great hotel, location, staff and rooms are excellent. We will definitely go back. Loved it. AJ at the front desk was rockstar.

A beautiful building, the best location in Knoxville, fantastic rooms, unforgettable chocolate chip cookies, and, above all else, the absolute best customer service you can imagine. What a great stay! The staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. They offer free bicycle rental which was a great way to check out Knoxville. The Tupelo Honey Cafe at the corner is to die for as well. The rooms are all updated with chic modern furniture and plenty of amenities. Loved the sliding barn- door for the bath. Convenient location for checking our Market Square and Old City. We even biked to Volunteer Landing and the art museum. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at the Oliver hotel. Fantastic central location and amazingly friendly staff who have tons of great recommendations. Make sure to take out one of the bikes they have for guests !

Recently stayed at this hotel after staying at the sister property, The Fairlane, in Nashville. Expecting the same experience but was quite disappointed. The staff wasn't nearly as personable as the Fairlane. The room was good. Liked having the in room coffee and coffee in the lobby that the Fairlane didn't have. Within hours of leaving the hotel, I realized that I left my Bose Speaker on the bathroom counter. I called the hotel and the person took down my number and said he would check on it and call me back. He did not call me back. I had to call him back and he said they didn't find it. Their response to me and the situation has been Very Disappointing. I am 100% certain where it was left. I travel a lot for business and have left things accidentally before and never had this happen.

This hotel is one of the best. I came into Knoxville not knowing what to expect, this is a great Scruffy City! Lol. The rooms at The Oliver are big and clean and have every amenity you could ask for. I think I even saw four bikes you could take out. The restaurants attached to the hotel were excellent. The continental breakfast was very good. The best part of Knoxville are the friendly people. I will be back.
