The Omar

"A bistro-style restaurant with the aroma of freshly baked bread (it also has its own bakery), situated inside the centrally located luxury Thompson Madrid hotel. Here, the unpretentious traditional dishes on offer are honest and full of flavour. You can also purchase an array of bakery items such as bread, pastries and home-baked tarts." - Michelin Inspector

Omar the dining area in the Thompson Madrid has breakfast lunch and dinner. We had breakfast everyday of our week long stay at the Thompson. Everyday we were delighted to eat there. The truffle poached egg jar was the most delicious thing we had all week. Everything was great tho. They start you off with a set of bread smoked butter strawberry jam, ham try, fresh fruits w/mint, coffee and freshly pressed OJ. The pastries were a flaky and fresh. The service was friendly and quick. The area is bright and light. We will definitely be back to revisit Omar's hospitality and amazing food! Thank you Omar and their awesome staff!

Super fresh ingredients with interesting combination of flavours at a very reasonable price. What else could you ask for? Bread is baked in house. Ambiance is nice and so is staff. The scallops were delicious and very memorable for me, highly recommend :) my favorite meal in Madrid

Nicely designed place. Super welcoming and helpful staff (even though we some little miscommunication). Unfortunately the food just didn’t hit the way it probably should have. The best thing we had was the Melon ‘gazpacho’ which I would recommend. Otherwise stay clear. The salt levels were extremely inconsistent. Some dishes were way over some had none at all. The Japanese Sandwich had one slice of cured meat in it, like poor grade school sandwich. The sea bream tartare was without taste. Dishes lacked sense for example the toasted croissant on the chicken Garam masala dish just didn’t work though it was a nice croissant. This is a skip.

I came for breakfast while staying at the Thompson hotel. When you arrive you get an a la carte menu to order from along with another set menu. I ordered churros which were ok. Toast with jam and butter but I didn’t like the bread that much as it felt too dense for me. A croissant which was good and finally some egg Benedict with Salmon which they didn’t have on the menu but still made it for me (they only have Benedict with bacon on the menu). The overall experience was ok but I wouldn’t think of coming again for breakfast here.

The place was incredibly cozy, and I truly enjoyed the ambiance. The food was quite pleasing; my favorite dishes were the fig salad, the croissant dough filled with mushrooms, and the tres leches dessert. However, I did notice that the fish had some bones, which was a bit of an inconvenience. Additionally, the service felt a bit rushed, even though it was very efficient. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely consider visiting again.

Having read some of the early poor reviews, I was a bit hesitant to try the restaurant. This is the fourth time in a row for breakfast and everything is great! Service, food and atmosphere are fantastic. Don't miss the fresh sourdough bread 🍞.

This has been the less pretencious and most delicious Michelin restaurant recommendation. The quality of the food the service was amazing not to mention the very affordable prices for the quality. Amazing bathrooms. They even gave us at the end a little bakery for dessert to take back home. Just outstanding. It’s a must try in Madrid.

A very nice Monday dinner experience. Quiet, cozy and relaxing ambiance with friendly and attentive service. The artichoke and leeks are amongst the best I have tried. The reduction sauce compliments the leek and crunchy kale so well. Sea bass is done perfectly and flavorful. A worthy Michelin recommendation.
