The Omni King Edward Hotel

"How did it strike you on arrival?Toronto’s first luxury hotel also feels like one of its newest, thanks to a $40 million renovation that brought the icon into the 21st century while honoring the history that’s made it such a favorite. Originally built in 1903, the King Edward has hosted all manner of boldface names in its convenient downtown location, which is located close to the financial and entertainment districts, and attractions like the Eaton Centre and St. Lawrence Farmers Market. Past the elegant brick exterior, a re-done lobby has bold-colored, comfy seating, light-wood paneling, a fireplace, and quirky touches like towering sculptures of chess pieces. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Luxury lovers, fans of historic hotels, corporate types making use of the extensive meeting and event spaces, and locals lingering in the Consort Bar. The rooms have been remodeled, you say? What's new? While wingback chairs, tufted leather headboards, deep red accent walls, and throw pillows emblazoned with crowns all nod to the hotel's regal name and deep heritage, the 301 newly redone rooms are now fully outfitted with modern touches like HDTVs, iPod docking stations, Keurig coffee machines, work desks, and laptop-size safes. Premium linens top the king-size beds; bathrooms have showers or soaking tubs. Suites have separate living rooms, additional bathrooms, and other extras; the Royal Suite has a sunken lounge, a 12-seat dining table, a kitchenette, and two fireplaces. We love a perk like a fireplace. What are the highlights here?Twenty-nine rooms and suites have access to the new Royal Club Lounge, which serves complimentary breakfast and bites throughout the day, and enjoy other things like nightly turndown, free wifi, and a morning car service. How's the dining? With rich décor reminiscent of an English aristocrat’s private club, the newly renovated Consort Bar serves light lunch and dinner, cocktails, and wine. The afternoon tea (Friday to Sunday) at Victoria's Restaurant, meanwhile, has been a tradition for more than a century—there's even a version just for kids. And there's an indulgent Sunday brunch buffet—everything from beef Wellington to homemade pastries—in the gorgeous Sovereign Ballroom. We're on vacation, but say we want to fit in a workout—what will we find?A gym is outfitted with Precor machines and a yoga and stretching area, and a spa and hair salon on the mezzanine level. Fresh off a $6.5 million renovation, the Crystal Ballroom has emerged as one of Toronto's best event venues, thanks to ornate moldings and large windows offering city views. Bottom line: sum up the experience at the King Edward.Partake in Torontonian history—without sacrificing modern creature comforts—at this renovated grande dame." - Sandra Ramani

A fine classical style hotel in an excellent location. Room was spacious and well furnished. However, the air conditioner was very noisy with no speed control for the fan. The staff at the Reception were attentive and helpful. The food menu at the Consort Bar was very good with something for everyone and the service by Kenny was warm and friendly, much appreciated. The wax fruit bowls in the lobby is better replaced by bowls with real fruits or nothing at all.

Date of Stay: June 21–22, 2025|Trip Type: Visiting friends in Toronto|Room Type: Deluxe King (upgraded to Premier King)||We spent one night at The Omni King Edward and were thoroughly impressed. This is a true luxury hotel that exceeded every expectation, from service and comfort to amenities and location.||Check-in and service were excellent. As Select Guest members, we received a complimentary beer or wine at check-in, which was a thoughtful perk that set the tone for the rest of our stay. I had a local craft beer that was crisp and refreshing. Every staff member we encountered was professional, friendly, and focused on providing a high-quality guest experience.||We were upgraded from a Deluxe King to a Premier King room, and it was outstanding. The room was spacious, beautifully furnished, and spotless. It combined historic charm with modern comfort in a way that felt both elegant and inviting. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was marble-clad and ridiculously opulent, with high-end fixtures and a spa-like atmosphere.||We used valet parking, which cost $60 CAD plus tax per night and included in-and-out privileges. While the price is on the higher side, the service was efficient and well-managed, which added convenience to our stay. The bar was stylish and relaxing, making it an enjoyable place to unwind with a drink after arrival.||The hotel’s location is one of its best features. It is within easy walking distance to downtown restaurants, shopping, and attractions like the St. Lawrence Market and the Hockey Hall of Fame. We felt completely safe in the area at all hours, and the neighborhood was clean, active, and well-lit. Once we arrived, we had no need for a car, which made getting around Toronto both easy and stress-free.||Overall, this was an exceptional stay. The Omni King Edward delivers on all fronts: luxury, service, comfort, and convenience. We would absolutely return and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Toronto for business, leisure, or a special occasion.

Stayed back in November during a very busy time (the week of the Taylor Swift concert). Staff was so friendly and accommodating. We had a Premier Room which was so beautiful! Super spacious with lots of room to get ready in. Staff happily provided a sleeper bed (with an extra fee) for my sister that stayed with us after the concert. Location is great, close walking distance to Roger’s Centre. The hotel also had nice events catered to the concert like friendship bracelet making. Didn’t have time to attend this, but loved the extra touch. Didn’t have the food here, but the coffee provided in the lobby was great! Would stay here again!

I’ll tell anyone who will listen that 4 star hotels are the best value and this hotel is a perfect example. Massive room, well appointed, quiet. Nice lobby, nice staff. Zero complaints. Didn’t use the common areas but they looked nice and smelled good. Walking distance to Distillery District and St Lawrence Market. I almost splurged on St Regis and I have a hard time believing I’d be twice as happy there despite spending twice the money. 4 star value- love it.

We recently visited The Omni King Edward Hotel as a potential venue for our wedding. Leading up to the appointment, communication via email and phone was great — professional and responsive. We had high hopes going in. However, the in-person experience didn’t quite match. We arrived 15 minutes late due to downtown traffic (which we understand can be challenging), but from the moment we got there, the site tour felt rushed. We were shown the three event spaces quickly, and when it came time to discuss details like pricing or view hotel rooms and bridal suites — which were discussed beforehand — we were told there wasn’t enough time. Rather than having a proper sit-down in an office or meeting room, we had a brief conversation in the hotel lobby. The whole experience felt hurried and a bit impersonal, especially given how important this type of decision is. We fully understand that being late may have impacted timing, but for a venue tour of this scale, we expected at least a full hour of focused time. The hotel is beautiful and historic, and I still believe it has a lot to offer. But based on our visit, we didn’t feel we were given the attention or time necessary to truly consider it.

We were in Toronto for 4 days. The hotel's centralised location was fantastic. The room was comfy, clean and nicely presented although the building was a little old. Staff were helpful and friendly. There was nothing we didn't like about it. Highly recommended.

An older hotel but well kept, clean rooms and facilities, and overall serene vibe. Rooms are quite large, which is rare to find in newer higher end hotels. In most newer hotel rooms, there is not much space to walk around the bed; I could do cartwheels in 4 different directions in this room! But the true standouts are the staff. With each stay, staff are consistently warm, professional, helpful, and proactive. And the lobby smells lovely!

The lobby is very inviting with lots of seating places and flower arrangements. Check in process was smooth and the agent courteous. Room at first glance looks almost luxurious with plenty of space. Natural light is non-existent with two tiny windows overlooking a narrow alleyway and facing another tall building. The light throughout the room is so sparse that it is hard to function. The only mirror in the room ( other than the bathroom) is in the closet door with no bright light or electric plugs nearby to help with dressing. The bathroom is so small, esp near the vanity that one has to close the door to access the area. Everytime we brushed our hair, the elbows would scrape the walls. No place for movement at all. The shower was very good and is the only positive factor. It was hard to function in that narrow bathroom and was extremely difficult for us ( 2 females) to get ready for an event at the same time. Also, the fridge supplied by the hotel only apparently works at certain times; so that needed replacement. We booked the room as a king sized bed, but the bed was definitely not king sized, probably a bit bigger than queen. Over all we expected lot more from King Edward which it did not deliver. We stayed in most of Toronto downtown hotels; this rates far inferior than most. Probably there are better rooms available at the hotel but the review here is based on our experience at the room provided to us.

Yelp
A classic hotel in Toronto that gets the details right. Despite the hotel hosting a lot of guests, I heard no noise in my room other than the occasional door closing down the hall. Every employee I encountered seemed genuinely interested in making sure that I enjoyed my stay. Being just a few blocks from Union Station, the hotel is very convenient to the UP Express shuttle from Pearson (a 24 minute ride for $6!). I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Yelp
For such a high-end hotel well you think they would have much better tp than sandpaper toilet paper. The water pressure was horrible. The room was huge but that was the most that it had going for it. I thought the customer service was just okay but that's about it. The best part about it was the location. They say they are dog friendly but in reality they're not if you look at what dog friendly is look at the kimpton St George review that I just left

Yelp
Hospitality at its finest! A beautiful hotel, super comfortable, and wonderful staff. The room has modern updates that still fit the style and feel of the hotel. My room was over the street car lines, yet I had zero issue with noise. Coffee maker in the room! Comfortable bed! Randomly - the best hotel elevators ever: never had to wait long for one the whole stay! The staff was immensely helpful and kind. One of the best hotel stays I've ever had.

Yelp
This place is grand a real 5 star hotel among hotels. Staff is amazing all extremely good at customer service! Beautiful building well remodeled and well maintained. Very clean! Amazing lobby reminiscent of how hotels used to be. Impossible to not be satisfied!!!!!!

Yelp
One of the best hotel stays I have ever had. There are just so many conveniences and comforts here. A great coffee shop in the lobby, in room Keurig machines, central location, helpful staff and spacious rooms with comfortable beds. They also offer amenities such as onsite restaurant, afternoon tea service (weekends), cocktail bar and spa. A five star experience in every way. Thank you to staff member Cameron for all of the hospitality and great conversation!

Yelp
We had the Christmas buffet. My son and I got violently ill. The only thing that we had that my daughter did not was the turkey. No one was eating the turkey it hadn't been carved. I guess that should have been a clue. Our reservations were at the end of the night so maybe it was just sitting out too long. When I told the front desk they said that no one else got sick. And I said because no one else was eating the turkey. And she said she would tell her manager. Her manager basically told me I was lying. So I told them to check the tapes in the dining area and they could see that no one was eating the turkey and that my son and I were the first ones to do it and it was at the end of the night. This was definitely food poisoning. I guess they just don't care.

Yelp
We chose the King Edward because it was perfectly located in the middle of downtown with a short walk to most things were interested in doing. The check in process was quick and the front desk were very professional and wonderful. The lobby was very chic and beautiful. Definitely a fun spot to stop and take a photo. Our room was also flawless and clean. They also had two bathrooms so that someone could still use the restroom in private if another is showering. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were super plush. We loved everything about the room other than the view. We got a view of nothing so we kept the windows blinds closed. Overall this hotel is perfectly located with amazing service and impeccable rooms. They have a very large parking structure if you have a vehicle as well. A must stay if visiting Toronto.

Yelp
Had a stay here on business. Room was one of middle floors and the company business was on the top floor. Catering for our event was on the 2nd floor. The room itself was quite nice. The catering was terrific and the large meeting room was very adequate. I'd definitely stay here again if I needed to be in Toronto.

Yelp
I stayed here for three nights. I tried to avoid the hotel where my big international conference was going on as I traveled with my wife. It was a perfect choice. The hotel is quiet and yet convenient. Walking distance to the city hall, Eaton shopping center and theaters like Princess of Wales. You can take care of business and have fun in this hotel. The Premiere room was clean, bed was comfortable. Staffs are extremely efficient, professional and friendly. Enjoyed talking to them and was helped with adequate advice. I will book this hotel again when I will be back in Toronto in September. Use the parking building next to the hotel. It is convenient and costs like 20 US dollars a day.

Yelp
The sheets are super itchy. The bed is uncomfortable. The room is very dirty. The dust is gross and everywhere. The shower is grimy. The manager was unhelpful, rude and brought me to tears. I'm itching but I have to stay here for one more night and it's torture. I've cried almost every night here, it is truly awful. My first visit to Canada and I regret staying here. Stay well clear!

Yelp
This was a pretty nice hotel. We spent a night here and also had afternoon tea. Both were lovely and good value for the price. The hotel feels very lux when you walk in. The hotel is within walking distance from St. Lawrence Market and the Gooderham Building. The hotel room was comfortable. I really liked the mirror in the bathroom. It was great lighting when I was doing my makeup. The hotel was great value for money and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Toronto.

Yelp
Stayed here for a few days and it was a comfortable stay. They do charge for Wi-Fi, but they offer it for free if you sign up for their members program. They supposedly reimburse you if you sign up, but I was still charged. I have to call to get that refunded. The rooms were decent, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. They don't offer valet, so if you're parking you'll have to find a garage. We found one about 2 blocks away for $25 a night.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel with exquisite style. I was there for the lizzo concert bday weekend and has their premier king room which was gorgeous. I also used the spa for a massage and it was a fantastic experience. The spa is clean, calm and a beautiful oasis. Staff at hotel are all exceptional. What a great experience overall.

Yelp
A great hotel to stay at if you're visiting Toronto! Located right downtown in a convenient location. The front desk is super nice, friendly and helpful. I checked in with no issues after booking a stay via Amex. I was upgraded to a deluxe King suite and it was so spacious. Also loved the Nest products and prompt housekeeping. I also took advantage of the gym access on the mezzanine floor. It had a ton of equipment - I was the only one there when I used it. I also checked out Mokara Spa for a massage (fantastic) and the bar (great cocktails). Would highly recommend!

Mel F.

Yelp
Stayed here the days before Christmas for a little vacation before the holidays. Personally I'd skip the restaurant in house , we stayed in the premier king suite which was clean and came with 2 smart TVs which was a plus Staff are friendly and helpful - its in a decent location and is super close to the hockey museum and stadium for those who'd enjoy !

Yelp
Came here for afternoon tea. Good service and nice environment. I tried the house tea which is exclusively in here, tasted very well. I liked the smoked salmon sandwich, the only negative is the fruit were placed on top of the bread which made them messy when I grabbed the sandwich.

Alison A.

Yelp
This is a terrible hotel. it is right by the street cars which go by ALL NIGHT every few minutes. terrible for sleeping.

Yelp
Came here for high tea and it was a great experience l. Our waiter was nice and the food was delish. They had this ginger dessert that was the bomb!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel located in the heart of the city. I booked my reservation through Amex fine hotel collection that includes a $100 USD /120 CAD dining credit. The room rate on Amex was a good deal. It was a great deal with the the dining credit. I used the dining credit for cocktails at the Consort Bar. I got an upgrade to a spacious quiet corner room that was nicely decorated. Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

Yelp
We went here for high tea on NYE and it exceeded my expectations by far. The fingers sandwiches to the pastries and desserts, down to the decor. Everything was beautiful and delicious. I want to come back and bring my family. We went during the holiday so there was a Nutcracker theme. My eyes and mouth were satisfied. The service was also very good.
google avatar

Derek L.

Yelp
Review is for high tea service only: Overall had a pretty pleasant experience. Only negatives were that you weren't really allowed to switch to different teas throughout service. We asked the server and he hesitantly said we could if we really wanted to. We ended up sticking to one tea each. Ordered 2x king's tea set for wife & myself at $68 per set Wife got heavenly cream tea which tastes exactly like it sounds, creamy. I got the king Edwards blend which imo a more drinkable tea after a few cups. Lots of tea selection. Decided not to order the garden tea as it was the vegetarian option and the substitutions didn't sound overly great. The food was quite good! Sandwiches were delicious and well sized. 2 types of scones with Devonshire cream and lemon curd. Variety of pastries to satisfy your sweet tooth. Overall atmosphere was very relaxed and casual. I enjoyed this more than the Windsor Arm's and potentially more than the Royal York (haven't been in years though). Would definitely come back.

John P.

Yelp
My daughter an I just finished a four day stay at The King Edward. I must say that I was less than impressed. Compared to The Royal York, it isn't even close. The front desk service was abrupt and bossy. The Concierge Madeliene was out standing and Kenyy in the Consort was a saving grace. Our room, 893, was old and dated and there is no mini bar service. The room service was ok at best. As a frequent visitor to Toronto, I would recommend the The Royal York much more. For the amount of money spent here, other than Madeliene and Kenny I would not stay here again.

John C.

Yelp
We did afternoon tea here for the second time for my mother's birthday. The decor is excellent, they have a lovely lobby and nice space. The food and tea were good. Some of the food was a little stale, which is disappointing. They're selling a premium experience, so everything should be made fresh for it. The service was probably the weakest part of the experience. It started off poorly when the maître d' was committed to a bit that our reservation had been canceled that morning. The woman who sat us told us most people get that from him. We found it more annoying than entertaining. Maybe he should save this for a comedy club. At the table, we felt that the service was performative, rather than focused on us having a good experience. For example, one man touched our teapot to see if it was warm and if we needed more water within a few minutes of our ordering (I don't think anyone drinks a pot of tea THAT fast). We sat ready to pay the bill for over 5 minutes. We'd be more likely to try one of the other downtown hotels in the future for afternoon tea.

Yelp
Let's get real. Since I have been on this naturopathic food-as-a-medicine life, my food universe reduced significantly. With all that said, sometimes a girl just want to treat yo' self! Here is where King Edwards Afternoon tea comes in. To my surprise, they are able to accommodate all my strange dietary needs. Say what? Ya! I was extremely impressed. Most items were actually made fresh in the kitchen as well. I was stunned! Needless to say, the ambience is both Victorian and relaxed. Staff was fantastic. We had the most fascinating conversation about religion and diet with the service staff. As soon as I sat down, I was served a complimentary refreshing tea with tapioca pearls. The afternoon tea included open face sandwiches (cucumber with watermelon radish, grilled peppers, vegan slaw and avocado slices), two sweet raisin scones with house made jam, chocolate dipped strawberry, cake pop, almond cake with gooseberry, chocolate cakelette and matcha tart. The staff offered to make a tea for me to-go as it was a cold rainy evening. It was an unbelievably kind gesture and was deeply appreciated. Afternoon tea at King Eddie definitely topped my experience in London, England!

Yelp
I've passed through Toronto a few times before, but this was my first chance for a weekend stay. I booked the Omni King Edward because I thought it had the perfect balance of elegance, comfort, location, and price (when you find a good deal). The lobby is an inviting space with plenty of seating and the hotel as a whole is easy on the eyes. Almost every aspect of the room was stellar with the only minor issue being not enough lighting. The bed felt comfortable, allowing me to enjoy two nights of restful sleep. The quality of the water in the shower was excellent too; not a drop of hard water to speak of. Even the room temperature was just right and didn't feel dry. Their gym has a good variety of machines, weights, and extras (exercise balls/mats/bands, etc.) so I was able to do my entire ultra lazy workout routine. They should have a spa next year, so that'll be something to look forward to. One major letdown is the hotel only has valet parking, but since we're friends I'll let you in on a little secret (but let's keep it between us). Right around the corner on Church St. is an entrance to a small public (first two floors) and private parking garage. I paid $23 for almost 2 days worth of parking. Deal! Shhh! The hotel is well situated and close to all the action. With a streetcar and subway near the hotel entrance, it was easy to get around the city. I'd like to stay here again next time I'm in town. On a side note, I drove into the city at night on the Gardiner Expressway and let me tell you, it was surreal and stunning. Try it.

Yelp
Omni King Edward is a place that makes you want to adjust your monocle, tap your gold-tipped cane, watch the peasants walk by and say "Mmmmmm...yes...very good". Everything screams grand and every step you take feels like it's costing you something. But hey, that's why it's a great place to get married if you want to feel like a king or queen on your big day. Yes, there are literal castles you can get married in (Casa Loma), but if you're looking for something a bit modern that's still in touch with its antique roots, King Ed, is a place to look into. From the lobby to the ballrooms, it's an elegant sight to behold. The second floor arches are the perfect backdrop to any wedding photo. Plush purple seats and giant chess piece statues give this place a bit of a whimsical touch. But not too whimsical, you'll still feel the need to sit up, look straight, and use proper grammar. We got to see two ballrooms: The Sovereign Ballroom: Max capacity 160. Talk about old school grandeur. The walls and ceilings are ivory white with detailing that rival art in museums. Huge, glamorous chandeliers with floor to ceiling windows. Imagine daylight streaming through those babies. The only thing that's a bit awkward is that the room is more wide than long and with the head table in the middle, it'd be hard for people at the side to get a good view. Minimum spend: $25K. The Vanity Fair Ballroom: Max capacity 200+. Unfortunately, we couldn't really go into this one as they were setting up for something. But, from our view and from the pictures I saw beforehand, it's absolutely gorgeous! A portion in the middle arches upward with chandeliers dangling, reminding me of some grand Italian church from a century ago. Minimum spend: $35K. Venue aside, the coordinator that gave us the tour and explained the wedding packages to us was one of the best I've worked with. Kathrina treated us like a friend and not just potential customers. She was genuine, informative, and seemed like a really great person to work with throughout your wedding. Not our final venue, but with the beautiful setting and the great service, we're sure whoever decides to get married here will be in great hands. Sure ~200 people are going to have to battle for downtown parking, but that's the price you pay (that and however many tens of thousands you're sacrificing to feel like royalty). Ain't no wedding like a King Ed wedding. (20/100) - 2017

Yelp
We were looking to spend a weekend here in the city, and we had fond memories of The Omni King Edward Hotel, so grabbing a room for a couple of days seemed like a no-brainer. First off, I will say that the service was nothing short of exemplary. From the gentleman who checked us in to the server who brought our room service, everyone treated us exceptionally well without crossing the line into snootiness. (Snottiness.) And while the room is indeed really, really nice and surprisingly big - the bathroom boasts two showers! - I wasn't too thrilled with the bed itself. For one thing, we had requested a King bed but instead received a Queen. Our receipt even said King on it, so I'm not sure how something like this happens. Far worse, though, was how soft the mattress was. I've slept on some soft mattresses in my time but this one takes the cake. It was so soft that when you would lean your head on your pillow, you neck would wind up craned at an incredibly uncomfortable angle. To say I slept poorly would be a massive understatement. Aside from that, though, I don't have any complaints. (Well, the room service was outrageously expensive, but that's part-and-parcel with joints like this.)

Yelp
I came here for their high tea so I can't comment on rooms or any of the other amenities this hotel has to offer. Ahh the King Eddy...when you walk in you just want to straighten your posture, pull out the manners your momma taught you and act like you know what you are doing. The lobby of the hotel is beautiful - at the front they have a seating area with some lovely plush chairs/sofas with the really high backs so you feel like royalty sitting in them. There are also giant black chess pieces that anchor the seating area. There is a restaurant right at the entrance and one towards the back (i believe it's called the Victorian room) and this is where high tea is served. As this was my first time, I wasn't sure where high tea would be so I asked the concierge. Instead of just pointing me in a vague general direction, he came around the desk and walked me almost to my destination. Now that's class and service! The high tea menu is 3 main prix fixed menu choices - one with savoury sandwiches, one with desserts and in the summer they have a combo deal (sammies and desserts). The combo is $45 while the other 2 are $35 so for $10 more it just makes sense to go with this option. The $45 option also comes with a small strawberry/lemonade drink as well. There is also a vegetarian menu option as well. I'm not sure if the sammies/desserts change ever once in awhile but everything was delicious - there was one sandwich - buttermilk fried chicken on some slaw on a sesame seed bun....explosions of deliciousness in my mouth. This was my fave sandwich. The desserts were the typical scones, jams, chocolate mousse cake, a berry parfait (oh my!). As we went for a friend's birthday they even brought a piece of chocolate cake over with a candle! You choose your tea from a variety of loose leaf teas. I had the Kind Eddy specialty blend - it's made specifically for the hotel and it was divine. A robust flavour of the tea similar to that I am used to (chai). The service is impeccable here - from being knowledgeable about the teas to making sure we had enough hot water to showing you exactly where the washrooms are (instead of just pointing) makes me feel like a high flying player. I sauntered out of here..pinky finger up...full and in bliss.

Yelp
This review is for the Victoria Restaurant Brunch Buffet. My boyfriend and I went for the Canada Day themed brunch and it was absolutely lovely. The chefs only put out high quality, delicious tasting food and that was very evident. The buffet is held in a beautiful room and the selection of food was great. The staff was all so friendly and attentive. Special shoutout to Chef Sue, who came out and spoke with all of the customers dining. She brought us a piece of her maple fudge to try and was just a delight to speak with. Food wise, lots of great, healthy options. Good for all diet types. We will be visiting again!

Yelp
We are staying here for a few days and I only have great things to stay. Even upon arriving at 10 a.m. our room was ready and we were able to check in right away. I love the giant chess pieces in the lobby. The staff are discrete but very welcoming and friendly. Our Deluxe Room is specious, and that includes the bathroom. Perfect bed, plenty of products, and an ample number of towels and linens. Above all, everything is really CLEAN. The location of the hotel is central to everything you might want to see. St. Lawrence Market is within walking distance and so is Eaton Centre. This will definitely be our go-to hotel in Toronto from now on.

Yelp
Came here a few times for their high tea. They always seem to change the menu for special occasions. Back in May they had a weekend that's themed for Harry and Meghan's wedding and recently had a chocolate lover's high tea. a pleasant surprise when they offered complimentary coat check. In terms of interior style, I did not find it to be special. Maybe I am more partial to the small cozy feel of Windsor Arm. They have amazing tea selections and the signature Eddy is definitely one to try. For some reason the sandwiches never come out on the tiered tray with the scones and dessert. I wonder if it's coz their tiered trays are a bit smaller than the other place. That being said, it does not detract from the great taste of the food. Service is good but slow. It feels like they did not have enough waitstaff for the capacity of the room each time we went.

Yelp
A very nice hotel at a reasonable price. The location is good, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the finishing, decor, and furnishings in the lobby and guest rooms are all charming and elegant. Everything seemed clean and nice. Experienced no issues during our stay. The view was just of another building across the street, but that's likely going to be true of most rooms in most hotels in a downtown area.

Yelp
A study in elegance. I'd been peeping the King Eddie Hotel for a long time, and I glimpse it every time I visit Beer Bistro across the street. However, I never had the opportunity until a last-minute invite was given to me so I could attend a press conference announcing the RBC Taylor Prize shortlist in the ground-floor restaurant. Figuring it was worth a look, and having just exited an event down the street at a nearby convention centre, I braved a cloud of rain and snow and made my way over. The first thing I noticed walking into this place is that you can practically smell the prestige coming off this place. They have a reading room. A READING ROOM! I've never seen that in any hotel I've visited, not to mention that the staff were incredibly friendly and directed me to where I needed to go - the "Consort Bar", a place that bills itself as being inspired by aristocracy, and I have no reason not to believe it. That bar screams "old money", and it has the decor to match - wide, comfy recliners and marble-like table finishes, and you can eat and drink while a giant, pensive painting looms over you. I was graciously welcomed by the staff and treated like I was a member of some exclusive club, which was certainly a surprise. I was able to sample some desserts (scones, croissants and mini-cakes were the order of the day) and drink some delicious coffee before settling in for the press conference, which saw the announcement of five books being shortlisted for the annual literary prize. I had the chance to talk with the prize founder's wife, Noreen, along with some local authors. What that proved to me is that this is a crowd I want to hang out with more often - we share the same love of reading and literary talent. I plan to be back here in the near future for a brunch event, so I may refine my review even further. For now, my experience at the King Eddie was top-notch, and I want to go back as soon as possible. Recommended!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday with high tea! There's a set high tea menu (you can pick vegetarian or regular) with a large selection of teas you can choose from (they had 2 different boxes). Surprisingly the high tea set was extremely filling and you definitely won't be leaving hungry. Staff is friendly and ambiance is nice.

Yelp
We had an amazing stay at the Omni King. For an almost 5-star hotel the service here is on par with luxury hotels like the Ritz and Four Seasons. One person who stood out and delivered wonderful service was Vanessa at the Concierge. Weeks before our trip she helped me plan and book a day tour to Niagara Falls. Last minute due to weather changes she moved our reservation so we didn't have to worry about the rain affecting our tour. She was kind, courteous, and prompt in all our conversations. The two days during our stay when she was off I really felt lost without her guidance and suggestions. The older gentlemen in her place to be frank was useless. Thank god she was working on our last day here because her suggestions again were on point. We ended our trip at the Distillery with some chocolate dessert fondue at Caucao 70! Moving on to our room we booked a deluxe King with Club Level access. I highly recommend booking a Club room. You get a special key card that allows you access to a spacious lounge 24 hours a day on the 11th floor. They serve breakfast from 630-1030am which is an array of fresh fruits, coffees, teas, the best espresso machine ever, muffins, croissants, bagels, juices, eggs, bacon, French toast, yogurt bar and oatmeal station! Buffet style all you can eat. The breakfast also changes up a bit daily. For example, one morning they had special peach pancakes then the next day brioche French toast etc. I particularly loved the egg white frittatas! They don't serve a full lunch but did have a large fruit basket out along with cookies and candies including beverages which remain out all throughout the day. For evenings 5-7pm they served hordervous which included a big veggie platter with an assortment of hummuses, cheeses, olives, and two hot appetizers (chicken skewers and Thai wontons). For me it was filling enough for dinner. They also had an unlimited open bar. We utilized the club almost every morning for breakfast and went back a couple times a day to reload as needed or just to sit and relax in a peaceful atmosphere. We also loved our club hosts including Young who was always and willing to assist us in our day to day plans and Liz who was so thoughtful enough to send a card up to our room asking how our trip to Niagara Falls went along with milk and cookies for my kids! Location location location! One of the prime reasons we chose this hotel. - 10 min walk to St Lawrence Food Market. - 20 min walk to the CN Tower and Aquarium. - 15 min walk to a huge indoor shopping mall called Eaton Centre - The street cars and subway stations are also nearby. - 20 min cab ride to the airport. - A million and one coffee shops and restaurants all within walking distance! Kudos to the ENTIRE staff at the Omni- they were all top notch! From the bellman getting us a ride to the airport, to the kind ladies at check in, to the wonderful housekeeping staff who kept our room spotless, to the front desk gentleman who ran over to us as we were leaving to help get our luggage into our taxi. Everyone was always willing to assist! Thank you all for making our stay so memorable and pleasant! :)

Yelp
We stayed here during our wedding weekend in August. I had booked two rooms one for myself and my family and the other for the groom and his best man. We had lounge access and it was really nice to go get snacks, drinks and got breakfast on the morning of the wedding day. The staff were great, the rooms were very clean and styled well. The only con was that they were not able to let us buy a permit to do some first look photos and some getting ready photos. So we had to find alternative areas to do our first look. It was very cute that on the night we came back to the room after the wedding there was some chocolates and a note for us to wish us well.

Yelp
It's rare that I walk into a hotel room and just about melt into a puddle of bliss, but that happened here. Which is seriously saying something. I had reserved the most basic room (Deluxe King. The least expensive) but there was absolutely nothing basic about this room! There was this enormous room waiting for me! Besides the largeness (I was able to do an HIIT workout one morning!), the room was rather beautiful in its restrained elegance (loved the pillow with a crown on it, despite there being not an ounce of Anglophile inside of me, as well as the quilted headboard), not to mention spotless. But that bathroom! Sheer wonders of wonders, the bathroom is the largest bathroom I've ever had in a basic hotel room *with a ton of blessed counter space.* (I carry all the products). The room for value is 5 stars all around. I was extremely impressed. And this never happens! Just some speculation, but I have a feeling the Omni took over this property not so long ago. It's definitely more Senior Citizen Luxe (think: NYC's Pierre or Plaza) and less typically swanky/sleek/hip Omni property (my god, have you seen the Omnis in Dallas and Nashville?!) but sometimes I channel up that inner 80 year old quite easily and can get right down with Grams & Gramps if it means I'm longing in the lap of luxury at perhaps what the price of the lap of luxury was in the 1960s! Conjuring up the spirits of Joan, Don and Roger. I know y'all stayed here. As such, don't expect the (temporary) hotel bar to be open past 10:30pm (do expect the old school obligatory offering of a bowl of nuts and crackers! They really knew how to treat a customer back in the day). And when you check in at 12:30 am, don't expect a doorman or concierge (really, I don't mind)... a true skeleton crewe. That said, they were all nothing but polite at my scandalous check-in time. The neighborhood is definitely not rich with nightlife or open restaurants. I was forced to order from room service two nights in a row, which I kind of hate, but what's a girl to do when it's 11pm or 1am and she's just sitting down to dinner? My grilled vegetable sandwich was edible (I did appreciate the whole grain toast) and naturally as overpriced as you'd expect. The gym is spectacular. The Omni never fails to impress me with their hotel gyms! Tons of equipment you wouldn't expect, in addition to your typical treadmills and ellipticals, plus a decent number of benches and even space in front of full length mirrors with yoga mats, exercise balls, etc! I just love the amount of space they devote to their gym. I just find that most hotel gyms are an afterthought, but when you travel a lot for work, it's crucial. There's a sweet little coffee bar off the lobby, too, with delicious espresso drinks (Illy) that are Italian-style rather than Starbucks-style. There's a spa and a salon (or "beauty parlor" as my grandma used to call it!) though I used neither so I can't report much. It's a quiet, quite luxurious hotel. If it were in a more happening part of town with access to more of what the lovely city of Toronto has to offer, I'd never stay anywhere else. That said, I'm sure I'll be staying here again, regardless. Love, Grandma Pro Tip: Join their loyalty program (free!) for complimentary wifi and morning beverage of your choice.

Yelp
Having spent two weeks living out my own version of Eloise at the Plaza at the Omni King Edward Hotel, this was a decent place to do it. Mind you, I'm not a precocious six-year-old, this isn't the Plaza in NYC, and we didn't have a penthouse suite. However, our standard suite on the 14th (renamed 13th?) floor worked out fine for our family of three. The staff at the King Eddie were all pleasant, responsive, and extremely helpful. They were prompt in our additional ad-hoc requests to clean our room. The doorman helped carry my stroller up and down the stairs at the main entrance so I didn't have to go around to the wheelchair lift at the side entrance. Every evening, a staff member came by our room with a bottle of water and a bag of ice. We even got a bowl of fruit one evening! Unfortunately, there was one thing that could have made our stay more comfortable. The Wi-Fi was spotty, which is not what I would have expected for $15CAD per day. This also wouldn't have been much of an issue if it had been a short stay, but it was difficult relying mostly on my international data plan because the hotel Wi-Fi worked only maybe half the time. A huge plus of this hotel is its downtown location-- it's a short, non-hilly walk to the touristy Distillery District, Kensington Market and the Toronto Eaton Centre.

Yelp
Holy High Tea! Was here for a good friend's birthday. I'd never been to a proper high tea, so I wasn't sure what to expect for around $49. She made reservations, so I grabbed a big hat and off we went! There were 2 cases of tea to choose from. Our server knew everything about the teas and their origins. I felt like to was talking to the Google of tea! Our tea arrived as well as our lil sandwiches. I looked at my plate thinking I would need to stop and get something to eat after, but I was so very wrong. The sandwiches were fabulous. The breads and tiny buns were so fresh! I was stuffed....but then dessert came. Dessert was delectable. The variety and quality was impressive. Cookies, fruit, pastries, oh my! I didn't have room, but I had to eat all of it. Damn sweet tooth. Loved it! A great experience and I'd love to do high tea again!

Yelp
Nice quiet place for a tradition English high tea time. Service and food are both very pleasant. Catch the special menu this weekend to celebrate Canada 150 years!

Yelp
I went here for high tea with 8 girlfriends, and we were not disappointed! You feel a little like royalty eating in such a decadent atmosphere. Price is $49 for either the vegetarian or meat option (the sandwiches contain vegetables or meat). Service was attentive and personable. They explained everything that we were eating. I had a great time, food and tea were delicious!

Yelp
Charlet, Ahn, Agnes and Management YoungMi Lee in royal lounge are magnificent and provided me with exceptional royal service. They were very pleasant to converse with, very beautiful and contributed to a great experience. The team is exceptional at providing VIP service and I look forward to returning for all future business. I am a black card status member and it's all about the experience and customer service. YoungMi Lee, Charlet, Ahn and Agnes are some of a few reasons why my loyalty to Omni hotels.

Yelp
This hotel was great. He staff was very nice. The room was very nice. The gym was super nice. The hotel was very well kept super clean. It was in the middle on town so easy to access things. If you wanted to walk. They have great restaurants. The only downside was parking. The parking was 55 dollars a night. Maybe that's nbd to some but I felt like that was expensive. We had to pat at a near by garage and paid 16 bucks a day which was a lot better.

Yelp
Stayed here for two night for a work meeting, it's an old grand dame of a hotel that's recently been restored and updated in excellent fashion. They've done a very nice job of preserving the historic character of the hotel while adding modern touches. Spacious room with big comfy bed, my main peeve however was the nonexistent counter space in a small bathroom. There was only the sink edge and a tiny window ledge to precariously balance my toiletries. Meals were catered at the meeting and the food was very good. Service was polite and friendly. A minor gripe is that they charge for wifi in the rooms, mine was covered by my work, but it always irks me when travelling for pleasure when hotels don't include this in the price. Fitness room was on the smaller side but clean and well equipped. There's also an onsite spa but alas duty called and did not have a chance to try it.

Yelp
I've had a few mediocre experiences as well as some memorable ones at local Toronto hotels. Omni King Edward however, is a must stay. The hotels appears to have been redone in recent years and it truly shows. From the time you enter the grand lobby, the art-like decor and on point service provide a glimpse into the overall experience. The rooms are decked out in artsy furniture and offer comfortable accommodations. Having stayed here twice, I must standard rooms can be a little small. Very nicely done, but way too small. I've also stayed in an upgraded room that was almost too long, as evidenced by the photo. The couch is an awesome decor piece for the room, just wish they cut the room's length in half. Aside from sizes, the rooms are great. Service is excellent as would be expected in a hotel like this. Helpful concierge and on point staff waiting attentively. The hotel is located right in the middle of downtown Toronto, making it walking distance to just about everything you need. Great restaurants near by and most of the major business are located in walking distance as well. Overall great place.

Yelp
This review is for the hotel's bar, I didn't expend the night here. The hotel is very beautiful inside and the bar has a perfect classic atmosphere and decor with a piano. The selection of scotch, cognac and bourbon is great also and the barman we had was very friendly.

Yelp
Came here for tea to celebrate a friend's birthday. I had made the reservation early November for a late December date, only to find out the day before that the person I spoke to hadn't actually put it through in their system. They were fully booked for the holiday season and I would've been out of luck if it wasn't for the great service I got from the staff that day. After speaking to a manager, she was able to squeeze us into a table "in the lobby near the Christmas tree". At first I was a little apprehensive, imaging a regular hotel lobby with lots of traffic and curious eyes, but when we got there, were so pleased to see how intimate and inviting the lobby actually was. They had lots of little seating nooks divided by high-back settees. We'd glanced inside the dining room when we came in and have to say, we preferred the seats we got outside. It was definitely more private, the ambience was lovely, & there was nothing lacking in terms of service just because we were outside. As for the actual food: Two of us got the Nutcracker Tea (non-veg) & our pescatarian friend got the Garden Tea (veg). Everything was the same except that the fillings in her sandwich plate were vegetarian. The tea selection was great! I got the Chocolate Truffle & loved it. The sandwiches were different from regular tea spots & very good. But the best part was definitely the cream scone with Devonshire cream & house-made strawberry jam. Each dessert was lovely, but the chocolate log was the clear star for me. We couldn't eat all the sweets, so the staff happily gave us a little box to take the rest home. Another thing worth noting was that at no time did we feel rushed to finish a course. I think when they take a reservation, they block off a few hours for that table, so everyone was taking their time enjoying the treats & the company. The waiters refilled our teapots with hot water as well so we could continue enjoying hot tea. I'm glad we still went in after the initial reservation mixup because we all loved it & will definitely come back!

Yelp
I dined here today with my family members for an exceptional High Tea service. This is one of the only places with High Tea service that accommodates 'younger' individuals and I have wanted to take my niece who is 4 years of age to one of these functions for quite some time. It is difficult to find places, even in Toronto, that would cater to the younger population, which is unfortunate. I had scheduled a spa package and high tea as a gift to my siblings and niece, and joined them for the festivities. They had a fantastic time at the spa with manicures and pedicures which they all enjoyed. Although I could not join them for the spa experience, I did meet them for the High Tea, held in the Victoria's Restaurant. The staff was very accommodating to the dietary preferences of my family members, including a vegetarian tea menu for my sister. To note, they accommodate food allergies and Celiac Disease as well. They even provided extra sandwiches for my niece who particularly loved the cucumber sandwiches!! The dessert presentation was beautiful, with a delicious array of sweets including a Dark chocolate cremeux cake, Blood Orange Posset, Raspberry Linzer Cookies, and White Chocolate Ginger Pear Tartlet. My niece enjoyed her 'Jester's Tea' of hot chocolate with marshmallows, Double Decker Grilled Cheese, Smoked Turkey Roll Up, Cucumber & Cream Cheese sanwich, Snow Day Snowman Sugar Cookie, Chocolate Cake Pop, and Snow Dusted Cranberry Scone. Her favourite was the Cucumber and Cream Cheese Sandwich and she loved eating spoonfuls of their fresh strawberry jam and jars of honey!! The staff were exceptional and attentive overall, and I am particularly grateful for their treatment to our special little girl. Thank you!! This is a great experience for families and friends, and in particular, I am grateful that you provide such a lovely experience for younger patrons as well!! We will definitely be returning!! XOXO

Yelp
Tea was passable. I do a lot of afternoon tea across the city so I kinda know my shiz. Large tea selection but no opportunity to look or smell the tea. My friend's came in a bag (the horror!). Sandwiches were out of the fridge cold on stale bread. Christmas tree ambiance stunning, champagne pour super generous. I guess when I have been to places with warm scones and tea towers lovingly served this was a bit of a let down. It's not bad (the Windsor Arms is bad). It's just not the best. Still recommend the Ritz or Fairmont over here.

Yelp
First time visiting for their Nutcracker afternoon tea with a couple of friends. They were extremely busy, but the service we received was phenomenal. They have an amazing tea selection, and we spent a good chunk of time going through each one. Our server was very attentive and fun, and he took the time to answer all of our questions. I had the King Edward blend - beautiful flavour. We started off with sandwiches, followed by the pastries and scones. The sandwiches weren't great - hard bread/buns and extremely cold to bite into. The desserts were varied and tasty, but the scones were definitely the best part, served with their homemade strawberry jam, lemon custard, and clotted cream. One of my friends has a nut allergy, and they brought out different desserts for her on a separate plate, which she really appreciated. Overall, it was a very exciting experience and I look forward to revisiting to try their other menus (there seems to be a new one for every special occasion).
