Highlights

Doe Bay Wine Company opened in August 2017. Owner Cole Sisson is an Orcas Island native who returned home after fifteen years to realize his dream. The bottleshop and tasting room is located in Eastsound on Orcas Island, and features wine, beer and cider paired with cheese and charcuterie boards. In addition to our specialty services we produce a series of wines called “The Orcas Project.” This is a collaboration with friends and features a handful of acclaimed winemakers and vineyards in the Pacific Northwest, paired with labels designed by Orcas Island Artists. Our second location opened on Phinney Ridge, in Seattle, in 2023

The Orcas Project has been a favorite for my friends and I since we discovered it a couple years ago. Cole has always been incredibly friendly and helpful, and we used them to supply the wine for my wedding because of how much we enjoy their wines. They've also been a godsend in quarantine this year with their wine shipments. Can't recommend them enough.

Google
I've both been to the Orcas tasting room and ordered their wine regularly. First, the quality of the wine is fantastic. I'm personally partial to their pinot noir rose which is a perfect bottle for the summer. Second, their staff is incredible. Knowledgable, kind, and just generally great. I've seen them throw in extra bottles for large orders during the pandemic and just generally been amazing. If you are on orcas, go visit them. If you're in Seattle and looking for good wine to make it through the pandemic, order from them!

Google
The Orcas Project is an interesting concept in wine making. We were intrigued and the five members of my COVID pod decided to try it. We all went for the $23/person five wine tasting. We also purchased six bottles of wine. The wine quality was just ok. None of the wines we tasted were particularly good or particularly bad. Unlike most every wine tasting we have been to elsewhere, the tasting fee is not waived or reduced with purchase. So we ended up paying a significant amount of money to taste some mediocre wines. Granted it is in a remote location on an island where costs are generally higher than elsewhere.

Really good wines with knowledgeable staff. You can't go wrong with the quality and assortment.

Super knowledgeable, friendly staff helped us pick a few great bottles

Yelp
This is a small little shop right in back of a grouping of small shops. Cole is the owner and does a great job of helping you feel welcome. He's knowledgeable and personable. There's a sort behind the artwork on the wine labels and he's happy to talk with you about the friends that created the art. We sat outside and did a 5 wine tasting. We are almost finished but will bring some wine and lovely memories home with us

Yelp
I stopped in to this store on my last trip to Orcas. The service was excellent and the selection was quite good. While it's important to have a good selection, having the knowledge to help guide us to the right bottle is what matters most to us. 10 out of 10, highly recommend!

Yelp
Eigth Stop: "A Perfect Day on Orcas island" Collection https://www.yelp.com/collection/Bgd9G40BjYMmHuJoM5MpHw This is a good place to pick up a unique bottle of wine for dinner. They feature collaboratively developed varietals under the name "The Orcas Project". Check it out.

Yelp
Such a sweet little shop with endless options for the wino inside us all! We opted for the tasting flight and left with a couple of bottles. I love the variety that is offered, a carefully curated experience from light and bubbly white, to full bodied reds. We didn't opt for snacks but there was a full cheese, cracker and nut menu for light munching. The interior and ambiance is darling, full of plants and interesting art for purchase. Cole was kind and helpful, we loved our quick little stop before our ferry ride back to Seattle. If you're in the area, don't miss this great shop!

Yelp
We read about this place on Instagram, and their website. We were looking forward to checking out the winery. This place lived up to our expectations. It's a small location. The owner has great customer service. We selected a table outside. He brought out the wines that we wanted to sample. We had 2 reds and 2 whites. They were all very good. Dry to my expectations. We purchased 2 bottles to bring home to Pittsburgh, PA with us. The downside of traveling over 2,500 miles from home, I can't take as much wine as I want to. :( If you're on the island this is a nice stop, good wine. They have other wines here. Try the Orcas Project. Loved it.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for a quick wine tasting. We were the only ones there, so we got excellent service by the kindest young woman. We decided to share the tasting of 5 wines since we were going to go hiking later and didn't want to get too tipsy. I believe we had 6 or 7 choices and had to pick the 5 we wanted. Most of the wines she brought out were part of the Orcas Project, which is a cool, local endeavor, although most, if not all, of the grapes aren't grown on the island. We tried a variety from whites to rosés to reds. All the wine we had was tasty, and we had fun trying to pick out the scents and flavors we were picking up on. The employee spent some time with each wine giving background on the winemaker, the grapes, etc. We drank outside with a wine barrel as our table, and it was so beautiful out! Afterwards, we browsed the store and ended up buying a strawberry beer - we wanted something easy to share during our trip so that we wouldn't have to fly back home with it given that we already had 3 bottles of wine with us!

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience with Rachel tasting through the Orcas Project. There are some gems in this store.

Yelp
Had a great time visiting this shop earlier today!! A dynamic husband and wife team own this quaint little shop and make the wine experience fun and informative. There is a little wine tasting stand. The walls are lined with wine bottles, most of which I'd not seen before and the cooler has a decent selection of craft beers. Certainly a fun place to pop into while exploring Eastsound.

Yelp
Full disclosure, I am an acquaintance of the owner. That being said I really believe this is a place the island needs. The shop is well curated and stocked. The inventory is a good mix of types of wine and regions. The selection is not overwhelming; it's nice for the novice to expert. The prices are on point too. They have a nice selection of beer too. They also partner with Northwest vintners to develop the Orcas Project wines. What I really appreciate is that they are about education. They are bringing wine to a community that, in the off season, tends to be more blue collar. You are reminded that wine is not for the fancy. It is about the agriculture product and hard working people people that bring it to you. Wine can be enjoyed just like a beer. Wine used to intimidate me until I learned about what it reall is. Go in, ask questions, try new things... trust me you will love it. Locals and vistors go in support this local business.

Yelp
Great wine. I would rate this place an 8/8 because the wine was gr8 and the service was gr8. Very good wine and generous pours. What's not to love

Yelp
A happy accidental find, the husband wife owners were friendly, down to earth, extremely knowledgeable and helpful choosing a wine. Love the art work on their bottles (bespectacled animals - very Wes Anderson-esque) embodies the whimsy of the company but shouldn't be taken any less seriously as very stand up wines!

Cynthia F.

Yelp
Wonderful wines and knowledgeable staff. I stopped in to get a couple of bottles to take to a dinner party off island with some very discriminating friends who know much more about wine than I do. The staff member helped me select a couple of Orcas Project wines both of which were well received. The Graciano was a huge hit-my wine collector friend called it a "revelation"!

Geoff F.

Yelp
All three of their duo tastings were great (and almost a glass of wine each), and the rest of their selection is excellent. I'd be thrilled with a shop like this in downtown Seattle, so kudos to them for setting up in Eastsound.

Yelp
We visited Doe Bay Wine Company in 2017 and loved it. The owners are a very nice couple who are passionate about wine and offer a selection that one would not expect to find outside of Seattle. We returned in 2018 and are even more pleased. They now offer wine flights and cheese and charcuterie boards. We tried both white and red wine flights, a cheese board, and marcona almonds. We made a light lunch of it. Highly recommend the Orcas Project wines.

Yelp
A fine addition to Orcas Island. Stephanie and Cole fill a unique niche. They have a wide range, from affordable to (somewhat) pricey. What we most appreciate is a wide and ever-changing selection of interesting, unusual, and very drinkable wines around $20. They are highly knowledgeable but without the stuffiness that usually comes with expertise. They are good at assessing your tastes and making excellent recommendations. The most important thing you get here--as opposed to the other wine sellers on Orcas--is good advice. The wines from their own "Orcas Project" have ranged from good to great, and, once again, are not the usual suspects--no Cabernet and Chardonnay here. This has become our go-to source for wine. I guess we must be those "blue collar" "off-season" folks another reviewer referred to.

Yelp
Tucked away in a little cluster of bright buildings down the path past the ice cream shop is a great little neighborhood wine shop with a world class selection of thoughtfully curated wines. The owners are on site to offer tastings and help guide you to the wines that suit your pallet. One of the only spots to purchase a bottle of The Orcas Project wines too. Welcoming to the novice too.

Yelp
This was an excellent find on my trip to Orcas Island! My friend and I went to the wine tasting, which was only $5, and we loved it so much that we made a point to go every day for the rest of our trip. Each time, we got to try 6 new and different wines, including champagne, whites, reds, and rosé. The shop has a nice selection of wine, beer, and cider from local sources and other places around the globe, all at very reasonable prices. The service was excellent, and the owners were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They were very approachable and glad to answer questions about the variety of products. I will definitely go back on all future trips!

Yelp
In addition to amazing wine, Cole and Stephanie are wonderful people! So great to see them thriving! Highly recommend wine tasting while in Eastsound, and dont forget to buy a few bottles!!!

Yelp
A visit to Doe Bay Wine Company is so worth the trek to Orcas Island! Their shop is adorable and has a huge selection of wine from all over the world at all price points. The owners, Cole and Stephanie, are warm and knowledgeable. We purchased their Orcas Project wines, which were delicious. We cannot wait for more Orcas Project wines to be introduced this year and many more visits to the shop on our trips to Orcas.

Yelp
Fantastic Boutique wine shop in the heart of eastsound village on Orcas Island. Very knowledgeable staff and great selection of beer and wine, local and far-reaching. The husband and wife owners and purveyors also have their own wine, The Orcas Project, which my wife and I bought and loved. I will definitely be back, and recommend anyone local or visiting orcas to stop in for a taste.
