The Orchid

The service was excellent, and everything was clean and tidy. We were offered jasmine tea while we checked in, and got free pastries when we checked out. It had a lovely atmosphere, and we loved playing with the cats. Our courtyard room was lovely, nice bathroom, and very warm and comfy bed. We had a sky-light naive our beds which was such a treat. We unfortunately only had a chance to try the Mediterranean breakfast restaurant, but the Shakshuka we pre-ordered (due to our early departure) was the best I've ever had. My friend also loved that it was in a Hutong.

Staying at the Orchid Hotel has been the highlight of my trip to Beijing. The hotel is neatly tucked away in a very quiet part of the Hutong not far from the historic Drum Tower (can be seen from the hotel’s rooftop). Many landmarks, restaurants, bars, and shops are conveniently located nearby and can be explored by foot — my preferred option. In terms of the space, the hotel’s interior has been carefully designed to preserve the characteristics of the very historic neighborhood while adding a bit of modern aesthetics. Finally, I very much enjoyed interacting with the staff, who were very friendly and eager to share the real Beijing experience with the guests

One of the loveliest lodgings I have experienced. The Orchid Hotel is a short walk from the bustling streets, yet it offers a peaceful retreat that feels like your own private oasis. The breakfast at either of their two restaurants is absolutely amazing! The bakery sells delicious bakes and they are hard to resist. The team running the lodging is a thoughtful bunch too. Knowing that I had to leave for the Great Wall at 6.50am, they made sure they had bakes and freshly brewed coffee for me to bring along for my day trip. The map provided by them is informative, thoughtful and extremely useful. Strongly suggest you take a good read and mark out the places you want to visit. Much appreciated Jihan and her team who have made the stay a very pleasant one.

FAN -TAS-TIC!!!! Outstanding hotel!! Our room was very comfortable, spacious and exceptionally clean. The bed was fenomenal!!!!! The staff could not have been better, they were very friendly, supportive and helped us booking our daily trip, giving recommendations. They had two restaurants (Chinese and Western) the food was simply delicious !! The location was also very good of you want to stay near the old town. We loved it,sad to have left!!!

Orchid Hotel is located in a very nice and peaceful place. The ladies at the reception are very helpful and nice, assisting us with taxi orders, small trips, and providing the information we needed to book and visit famous places. It has its own restaurant with various food options. Great place to stay.

Amazing hotel. Perfect location near heaps of bars and restaurants. 10mjn walk to metro. Staff speak English and happy to help. Restaurants onsite, good food and coffee. Free treats at end of the night. Bed comfy. Highly recommend.

This rustic inn was particularly charming with its old style architecture, especially friendly and helpful staff, and cute lazy cat mascots who roam about the premises. The staff was also incredibly knowledgeable about things to do in the area and spoke perfect English. ||The hotel is ideally located in the historic Hutong district in quaint alley, right off the main area, which is perfect for late eats and drinks. ||As well, the hotel boasts an above trendy restaurant, Toast, which has great food and was helpful to sit down at before starting our day. ||Highly recommend!!

When we travel, we prefer to stay in local places or vacation rentals. This little boutique hotel was the perfect find, especially since vacation rentals aren't an option in Beijing. What the rooms lacked in space was overcompensated for by their exemplary service and the little extra touches of comfort. Fruit baskets, excellent tea, early breakfast or on the go options, a couple of lazy plump cats wandering the courtyard or sleeping on the shelf - what more could you want? They even mailed out my old school post cards for me! We made the god awful mistake of visiting in early August. We paid for it severely by almost dying of heart stroke daily. Air conditioning in China is minimal if it exists at all and good luck finding ice anywhere. My room stayed cold the entire time! The AC was fabulous. And the front desk filled my ice cup daily. The bathroom shower was great and the bed (I had the loft bed in the garden room) was the most comfortable I've ever slept in! If you plan on hiking the wall, be aware that that loft bed will be challenging to get in and out of afterwards! My bathroom door didn't shut completely ever but my room door would if you slammed it hard enough. Btw, breakfast is excellent on the top floor! And even though you have to go down a tiny alley, don't fret - it's a delightfully busy and interesting neighborhood, though very safe. We loved the experience here, especially staying in the old traditional neighborhood!
