I am staying at a nearby hotel for a training, and have several days to find lunch.
I tried The Orient a few days ago, and liked it enough to have it for lunch everyday since. It's just under $13 for a lunch special, and I highly recommend it, among the mediocre Chinese restaurants that we have all tries and been disappointed by.
Disclaimer: I did take out only, not dine in.
They include an egg roll, which is actually perfectly cooked and tastes high quality, not like a reheated frozen one or mall Chinese egg roll. 4/10 on the grease level, but not horribly greasy.
I have tried the Szechuan chicken, chicken with broccoli and chicken and mixed veggies, all with BROWN RICE which you can have free instead of fried rice!
It looks fantastic and the taste is solid. Not the best Chinese I have ever had, but that was also an upscale, far pricier Chinese restaurant. This is a solid go to. Higher quality than any run of the mill spot.
The Szechuan was fried, which is traditionally isn't...which I didn't like, but it did taste great.
The others were lightly stir fried as usual, and the sauces were not too sweet, and perfectly balancing consistency (thickness) and color.
The brown rice was perfectly cooked and in a "satisfying shape".
It was an appropriate amount of food, I finished each meal as I eat like a horse, but it would be too much for many people in a single sit down meal.
It was ready in 10 min for less for pickup, every employee I interacted with was friendly and polite.
I would highly recommend this place. It is not a gamble, it's plain old good Chinese food.
This coming from someone who always tries a Chinese restaurant when he travels.
