The Original Big Daddy's - Review - College Park - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Yes, there are enough Big Daddy’s around Atlanta to start a fantasy league. This one is connected to the location on Campbellton Road (and not the one on Cascade). Everything about this Big Daddy’s on Old National is huge—the dining space, the buffet line that wraps around the back wall, the menu, and the portions. Come here for solid soul food when you need enough food to satisfy a family reunion, a football team, or both. The food gets the job done, with heavily seasoned jerk wings, massive BBQ chicken wings, and semi-sweet potato salad as the standouts. Take your container of food to eat alongside lunchtime regulars still in uniform, families with elders in tow, and neighbors looking to fill up on familiar comfort food. Food Rundown Jerk Wings These flats and drums won’t change your life, but they’re solid. They're heavy on the spicy jerk seasoning, and there’ll probably be enough left over to reconsider them after a reheat in the air fryer. BBQ Wings These whole wings are huge—like they came off a velociraptor. They’re drenched in sweet BBQ sauce, and you’ll need napkins. They’re fine, especially if you’ve got a few mouths to feed. Spaghetti Saucy garlicky, meaty, and old-school. It’s put-the-whole-pot-in-the-refrigerator comforting. Potato Salad A decent side order with your wings, this chunky potato salad is slightly sweet and creamy. Yams No surprises here—they’re sweet, soft, and exactly what you want next to a big piece of chicken." - Jacinta Howard

Google
Big Daddy’s food was not up to par at all. The turkey wing was extremely dry, and it tasted like the only seasoning they used was Cajun. There was no gravy on the food, even after I asked for some. The dressing was lumpy, stiff, and honestly just bad. The mac and cheese had nothing but pepper in it, no real flavor at all. On top of that, the servers were very rude, especially with this being my first time coming in. Overall, it was a complete waste of my money, and I will never go back again.

Heyyy M.

Google
it felt like I was going to grandma‘s house first of all I came in and it smelled so good🥰 I saw all my cousins they where telling me what was on special and what were there favorites🥰and then I got to the top and they say you don’t want another pork chop and I was like oh my God yes but no, I’m not trying to be greedy tonight then I was on my way out. Kenneth caught me and said you’re not gonna dine in???? Well i guess I am🥰😜can i have some water pweeeeeze? And there he was and brought me a glass of water out listen, I love it here y’all come check these people out is definitely a family environment. Food is very very good and the environment is clean.

Google
First time here, just passing threw and was looking for some good southern food. Had the meatloaf and white rice, with mack n cheese, backed beans and candy yams. I wanted to buy more but one plate was enough 🤤 will definitely be back soon.

Google
Iykyk I used to eat at the Candler Rd location for years. My mom used to live in Eastwick around 2014. I ate at that location until they closed. I used to see Big Bro cooking in the kitchen. My favorite meal is the 4'fried chicken wings with the 2 sides Mac and cheese and cornbread dressing with cranberry sauce and a cornbread muffin. I took my brother to the Candler Rd location and asked me do they know that I'm your brother lol. This is my first time eating from this location. The food is delicious. Pull up and support if not Uber Eats will get you right. I got my food on 12-3-2025.

Google
We ordered DoorDash for dinner and the smothered pork chops was for my daughter and the jerk wings wee mine. My yellow rice was watery for sine reason even under the chicken. My wings had a lot of feathers still on them. Makes me wonder do they wash the meat since they don’t bother to pick feathers off. Nonetheless the food was still great.

Google
My brother had the pork ribs fresh out the oven but not cooked all the way he was pulling on it like it was bubble gum The turkey wing my mom had wasn't fully cooked, my dad had the oxtails he said he only ate it because the price was so high for those three plates it was over $80 I ordered three wings corn and squash the chicken was okay The corn was the best thing on the plate everybody was very friendly the food was the worst

Latoya M.

Google
My first time here, it was extremely over priced. The oxtail had a grease gravy and it wasn’t really seasoned or tender. My daughter wanted the turkey wing and it wasn’t cooked fully through, hands down the worst soul food I’ve purchased for a whopping 60 bucks. I will never eat here again

Taiye A.

Google
All the food was amazing. Fried catfish, fried chops, smothered chops, fries potatoe salad. Corn bread was decent, and the strawberry cake was okay and the peach cobbler was good. I did order chicken gravy for my yellow rice, but didn't get any on it, and the rice was flavorless without it. Edit: Been here a few times since and pretty much everything is amazing!

Yelp
We got confused were the front door was after parking. But then when we walked in, wow there was a line that wrapped around the counter. It took us probably around 45 mins of waiting in the line. It was a bit confusing on how to order too. We are not from here. So we asked a couple people. When it was our turn to order, the worker said he was only in charge of the meat. But we could not see what meats were available to order as the line wrapped around and we have to go further to see the other available meats. So this is why it was kind of confusing / chaotic. However, once we got our food. It was so yummy! We got oxtail with yellow rice, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, okra, mac and cheese, and some desserts. This southern food really hit the spot for us. We couldn't visit the south, without eating sothern food. This was probably my favorite meal during our trip to atlanta. My favorite was the oxtail and rice. The meat was so nice and tender and the sauce with it - PERF! If I ever come back to atlanta, I would love to come back here!

Yelp
We were doing some shopping at metro mart iykyk! and super super hungry after wandering around for hours and looking at all the shops. I found big daddy's kitchen on yelp so we came here for dinner. Be ware the line is really long and very slow, it took almost 40 min to get to the end of the line. We came on a Saturday night, I guess Sunday brunch after church the line sometimes goes around the whole restaurant and outside the door. The food is a cafeteria style , you let the first server know what meat you want, and then when you get closer to the cashier the other servers will put the sides on your food. It isn't super efficient and ends up taking a long time to eat/ pay for your food. By the time we got our food it wasn't super warm anymore. We didn't know which meat to choose but we knew we really wanted the oxtail. So we ended up with oxtail and fried chicken for our mains. We also got the yellow rice, okra, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy. For dessert we got the blueberry cobbler, and the blue cake. The cake was a little dry but the cobbler is A+. The oxtail was soo soft and so tender, literally falling apart. The sides were also so yummy and the gravy was so savory and delicious. Total was $72 for a massive amount of food! Must go if you are every in ATL, super delicious food and great portions. Staff is really friendly as well.

Yelp
This place is the BOMB! God gave these folks some serious cooking gifts and they blessed my family and me real good when we were there. The servings are generous and the staff are kind and sweet and accommodating. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
The food at Big Daddy's Kitchen was delicious. I apologize I forgot to take pictures. We had just drove up from Savannah, hungry so I went in. I tried the jerk turkey wings, greens and macaroni and cheese, it was amazing. They have plenty of good soul food options, chicken, fish, turkey, beef, you name it they have it and plenty of good sides, desserts etc. They have a dessert table with several flavors of cakes and other dessert, grab a slice to go. Dine in or take out. Parking is easy and the staff is welcoming.

Yelp
I've been wanting to stop here for a few years and today I finally pulled in to try it out. First thing I noticed is that it's very crowded, but it seemed to move fairly quickly. I didn't want to stand in line, so I ordered pickup while sitting in the parking lot. The wait was 40 minutes. I ordered the 2 piece whiting with collard greens, mac & cheese and cornbread muffin. The mac & cheese was really good, but it also had a lot of black pepper in it. The collard greens were okay. The cornbread muffin was alright. The whiting tasted good. I would rate my whole meal as a 9. My husband had oxtails and he said they were tough. The steamed cabbage and okra were really good. The cornbread dressing was a huge disappointment. They also left out his cornbread muffin. He rated his whole meal as a 5.
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
I went here with a few friends. I got the Alabama Chicken, which just looked like chicken and vegetables. It is very spicy! I didn't expect that. I also ordered the squash and cabbage..the cabbage was good. The squash was ok. The restaurant stays busy and packed. And the servers try to be as patient as they can with all the customers. Overall, I say the.food is good and they do.give generous portions so you feel you're getting your monies worth.
google avatar

Autumn R.

Yelp
The food is exceptionally delicious, there was only one time that the chicken liver was cooked to hard, but overall this place is awesome
google avatar

Yelp
Great variety of Southern Soul food, I had pot roast, yams, greens and Mac and cheese. The pot roast came with dressing or yellow rice or white rice. I chose the dressing and was not impressed at all will not do dressing again, but when I tell you, the other food was on point, I will definitely be back they let me try some gravy to the smothered beef tips while I was in line and that's what I'm coming back for absolutely delicious. Be prepared to wait because the line is long but tends to move pretty quickly. You can eat inside. It was very clean and spacious.
google avatar

Terri S.

Yelp
Waited 1 1/2 hours for a pick up order, that was cold and incomplete. The banana pudding was old and tasted sour.
google avatar

Brieyanna B.

Yelp
My first time at big daddy's and it was a good experience. If you're planning on going on a Sunday be prepared to wait in a longline, however the line does move at a good pace. They give you plenty of food for how much you are paying. I ordered the bbq rib tips greens and creamed corn with a pork chop on the side and was not disappointed. I will say that the muffin the provided could be a tad less dry.
google avatar

Nakema G.

Yelp
I wanted some soul food yesterday and a friend recommended this spot. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived, but my friend did say there would probably be a line. As many other reviews have stated it is cafeteria style with many options for meats and sides. I opted for the baked turkey wings with dressing, Mac and cheese, sauteed spinach and a corn bread muffin. The food was okay, my favorite item in the plate was the spinach. It was very flavorful. If I'm in the area again I would be willing to check them out again and try some different items.

Sara J.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant, had read & been told it was good with large portions. Ok, 1st of all i went on a Sunday ( bad idea fyi). The line was 30 people at least deep. You are standing in line to get your to go plate to takeout or dine in, sort of like Piccadilly, except for the to go plates. On to the food, i ordered my usual go to soul food items. They have daily specials & Sundays is baked chicken & cornbread dressing (my favorite), + 2 sides w/a muffin. Also peach cobbler for the sweet tooth. Total $21 something + tip if you so choose. Glad i didn't after the fact. The baked chicken breast, mac 'cheese were waaaay too salty for my tastes,& the chicken was seasones with something lemon peppery tasting, not a fan, the greens & muffin were ok, as was the cobbler. But, Overall i was very disappointed. I could have paid about $13 or so at Annie Laura's and would have been satisfied, or even Busy Bee for about the same price range as Big Daddy's and had NO leftovers. Hate my decision when i decide to try a new place & it turns out to be a 5 out of 10, and that's being generous. Can't recommend, but maybe your experience will be different, everyone else seemed to be satisfied with it all, maybe i sadly just ordered the wrong thing.
google avatar

Tanisha L.

Yelp
Uber delivery order. Packaged neatly and portions still good as of onsite. Food was fresh and with good taste. Great options of all soul food staple items from collards to turkey wings and desserts.
google avatar

Antonio G.

Yelp
My son was in town for a math conference and wanted some good soul food, so he said dad, we have to go to Big Daddy's Dish. It was great! I got the salmon, trying to be healthy and a veggie plate. My daughter for some chicken and chocolate cake. one son got pork chops, the other got some fried chicken. I loved it, great service, the people was great. The ambiance was a down home vibe. We will be back
google avatar

Yelp
This place is amazing, if you like that great savory southern cooking, this place is for you. The Ox tail was amazing and the sides are exactly how southern cooking should be.
google avatar

Reen K.

Yelp
I am always coming to get take out, but I did door dash. Today, the turkey wings were not fresh. They were super dry. You can tell they were from yesterday. :-( The Mac and cheese, dressing and collard greens were delicious. I'm really upset, because I wanted turkey so bad, today.
google avatar

Cheri P.

Yelp
Food was great customer service outstanding next time I'm in Atlanta I will definitely go there to eat my family had recommended Big Daddy's so glad I went
google avatar

Jill L.

Yelp
I came here for some good soul food and southern hospitality and I got both! I ordered the oxtails on yellow rice with Mac n cheese and collard greens. The oxtails were too salty for my taste, but were quite tender and yummy nonetheless . And the yellow rice was slightly hard. But the Mac n cheese and collard greens were so delicious, maybe the best I've ever had. I wish I could have tried all the main proteins! They had so many to choose from, from smothered pork chops to fried chicken to fried fish. I recommend this place!
google avatar

Vicky V.

Yelp
The food here is smacking! The warmth this place brings was there, the workers fast and friendly and the dishes were amazing! I picked off everyone's plate and I was not disappointed. I got jerk chicken over mashed potatoes, fried okra, sweet corn, fried green tomatoes, a piece of corn bread and peach cobbler. My sis got potroast with yams. This place is a must!
google avatar

Dubb Ya B.

Yelp
I heard food was excellent.. meaning soul food... i would say it seems like the turkey wings was old like 3days not fresh, the oxtails was not falling off the bone they was chewy, the pork chops was salty not tender ... green was ok i have better.. rice was just rice it dont matter what color(yellow or white).. dessert banana pudding bananas was brown, pound cake was good... I've had better from a box... the mash potatoes was good... i was told they if we went late the food would be alot better or the other location would be better.. oh before i forget they broccoli cheese stuff was very very sour i didnt know if its was the broccoli or it was the cheese... i didnt like that at all but i did eat it all... Would i return i would try them again on a better time....

Yelp
Food is delicious and worth the wait when there's a long line. Could be friendlier service when it's time to pay and when I even gave a tip I wasn't given a thank you or have a nice day. No one made you apply for a position dealing wit people. Great food Meh customer service.

Strickland V.

Yelp
I was told this is the best soul food in the A. And I have to disagree. It's more like a Caribbean take of soul food. The dressing taste like festival or masa it's just really weird. Not nasty, just not my grandmother type dressing. The meatloaf was a big block , very tender but again it wasn't good. The broccoli rice tasted like they used box velveta cheese. The spinach was AMAZING!!!!!! I'm not saying this place is nasty, just different and not up to my taste buds. Go try it out for yourself because everyone has different taste buds. Customer service was GREAT!!! People were friendly! Clean environment , huge portions, and prices were affordable.

Yelp
I'm live in Dallas TX but was in town for my son's graduation from Clark Atlanta. My mom and I ate here before departing Atlanta and this place didn't disappoint. I had the jerk wings over dressing with collard greens. They were off the chain! The customer service was awesome. The staff explained all the specials they had and how the ordering process worked. We really appreciated that along with the friendly ones from the entire team. I will definitely be going back on my next visit to Atlanta. Oh, the fruit punch is delicious, wish I could have taken a gallon with me lol
google avatar

Jahri M.

Yelp
It has been a minute since I've had Big Daddy's, and this is a reminder never again to go. I am sooo disappointed. I normally frequent the one on Campbellton Road, and they were bomb, but I no longer work in that area. I live near the Old Nat location. Let's just say it won't happen again. Jerk turkey wing was just ok. The macaroni pissed me off as soon as I seen it. The yams were not yammin. Where is my yam juice??? Dressing wasn't bad, but nothing to brag about. Then I asked for a dinner roll and got this very dry cornbread muffin. This is why I cook for myself. Lesson learned.
google avatar

Ross C.

Yelp
My third time back and this place is always a go to when I come to Atlanta. Everything I've ever had here is great. The ox tail & fried catfish is absolutely phenomenal. You have to try both. The sides here are endless and all an A+. Our favorites were the collard greens & candied yams. The service is so vibrant and kind. The whole experience is wonderful and the customers and staff made it all the more special. Eating in is a must as the place is charming. End your dinner any of the three cobblers. They are incredible!

Black J.

Yelp
It was pretty standard. The Turkey wings, and stuffing was good. Mac n cheese was a bit below average, yams were ok, collards were ok. Rib was below average and the whiting was ok. Service wasn't great to pickup...they need a stationary person at the pickup line. I took my food to go but it was a mad house in there for people in line.
google avatar

edward m.

Yelp
I am bedridden. I ordered to Uber Eats. I order four or five times a week at different places big daddy is the most reliable place to order food from it is good is fast. They have the best pork chop in America bar none. The different meat and the different vegetables and ice tea are very good. Please take your blood pressure medicine before you come and your diabetes medicine because it is good southern food. Thank you.
google avatar

Alicia G.

Yelp
Food is always fresh. Service is always on point and professional. You can either dine in and be served or take out. But if you're looking for some good southern flavorful food, this is the place to go.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
I ordered the food from here togo but everything was delicious, i got the friend chicken macaroni yams and strawberry banana pudding and a speciality drink and everything was 10/10 but i do wish the macaroni portion was slightly larger, i can't speak for service or the inside conditions cause i ordered it but the food was great!

Danika P.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing!! We were blown away by the taste! Not at all disappointed. We will definitely be visiting Big Daddy's Kitchen again!!
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
The portions were massive and everything was so fresh and flavorful! I ordered the 4-side veggie plate and it did not disappoint. It was worth the wait and I'm glad we ordered ahead of time. Service was very professional! Glad we came here after we landed at the airport and headed home.
google avatar

Jawhara G.

Yelp
I come to Atlanta for work often and I ALWAYS make time to stop at Big Daddys! The food has never missed and they fill your plate all the way...no stingy servings here! They have sooooo many options and the staff is always nice. When I went in this particular trip, the line had about 25 people in it and I didn't hesitate to wait! This is not a fancy, celebrity owned spot where the food is hit or miss...this is your local, soul food spot with the good homemade fruit punch where you KNOW you're gonna leave satisfied. Do yourself a favor and stop by!
google avatar

Janea J.

Yelp
Don't sleep on Big Daddy's Dish! Even though I didn't see her I'm convinced you have to be a granny to cook here. The food was made with soul (not southern iykyk). You don't need to add seasoning because everything was tasty! The portions are large and a good price. You'll have leftovers with one plate.
google avatar

Tauheedah M.

Yelp
I ordered via Uber Eats yesterday. Turkey, Dressing, Collards, Mac and a roll with a side of fried whiting. $30 I received... no fish, No roll and as I was eating my turkey some hair came up out the plate with my fork. Saddened The Mac was very liquid and not cheesy.

Maja S.

Yelp
We stopped by here on our way to the airport to have a taste of southern cuisine and everything was very delicious. The ribs, hot honey wings, steak with vegetables, pork chops were all so tasteful!. The sides were great, the squash/zucchini was my favorite. Everyone was very helpful, patient and welcoming as we were trying to decide what to order. The atmosphere was relaxed.
google avatar

Morgan W.

Yelp
Ok- save your judgment. I came here once and I Uber eats the other time in a week so this review has balance. First I'm amazed by the sheer number of options this place has. It's overwhelming. Whether you eat pork or don't eat Pork, beef, chicken or pescatarian- there is something here for everyone. Rutabaga is not a common vegetable in texas so it was my first time having here and it's delicious! First time I had the jerk wings- which were nice and spicy but not fall off the bone like the guy in front of me indicated. The max and cheese was okay to me and the greens were pretty good. Oh and the corn bread dressing is delicious. Oh oh and peach cobbler - which this is really subjective here about what you like. (Didn't I say don't judge me) Second time- I had the oxtails with mash potatoes. Black eye peas and rutabaga. Honestly stellar meal. No complaints from me.
google avatar

Chanel T.

Yelp
Came back to try the meat loaf and it was pretty good. Them greens and mashed potatoes hit every time though!
google avatar

Jasonn D.

Yelp
Big Daddy's Dish was a great surprise in my last night in Atlanta. Located very close to airport hotels, Big Daddy's Dish has some really good soul food options. Oxtails, fish, wings with greens, yams, Mac and cheese and so much more. I had the catfish, yams, collards and cabbage with an uptown. Very, very good! The folks there are very nice and helpful.

Semi E.

Yelp
food and service is always A1! great customer service, and the food is always hot, tasty, and portion to the max.
google avatar

Tyron H.

Yelp
I ordered Turkey Legs with sides of collards, candied yams, fried okra and black eyed peas. Although the food took ages to prepare, figuratively speaking, I received complimentary dressing to make up for it. The food was slightly above average tasting. Overall, I believe in the company's potential, therefore I left a 4 star rating. But truth be told, I received 3.5 star quality.
google avatar

Aud W.

Yelp
Understaffed, and a very flawed system behind the counter! I'm sure the food is amazing... however customer service for those who place order online is terrible. We were ignored and left wondering for a bout 30 minutes on an order that was already paid for. There was a decent hand full of people who also placed orders before me and they were simply being ignored. Also seeing the environment behind the counter being more social than anything else left me a bit annoyed. Especially when I literally saw my order, sitting on the counter for at least 10 minutes.. there needs to be an entire team dedicated to mobile orders.. I understand being understaffed is stressful and things can fall through the cracks...understandable but A little communication goes a long way. And in my opinion this is very.
google avatar

Ashanti W.

Yelp
So dang good! I ordered the smothered pork chops with sweet potatoes, cornbread dressing and collard greens! The amount of food, the flavor, the mango lemonade! My my my!!! I was only in ATl for the night to visit a friend and had so much food leftover I brought it home. My dad ate and said it reminded him of my moms pork chops. My mom has dementia and no longer cooks so my dad saying that, warmed my soul. Feel free to open up a Big Daddy Dish in MD!!
google avatar

Hoff A.

Yelp
Smothered pork chops are good Food just all runs together in the container , which I don't like Overall flavorful

Yelp
First walking in you wouldn't know what to expect . But HUNNI,The first bite into the food was AMAZING I HAD TO TRY 3 different plates I got the roast beef ,baked chicken, and Spaghetti Sides -Mac and cheese yams greens and rice Dessert-banana pudding and carrot cake Drinks-strawberry lemonade & Mango lemonade The Service while we was sitting down-MARLIN MARLIN MARLIN Made us feel so welcomed and loved especially when we are not from here. Marlin Thank yu for your KINDNESS.

Charles L.

Yelp
The food was amazingly good. Unfortunately we were just visiting, if we lived there we'd go every week. The people were great, very friendly, and while it seemed really busy, they got it done quickly. You kind of need the time to pick from all the great options. Seriously, wish I had a magic door from here in Hawai'i to Big Daddy's Dish, it would be my go-to place.

Michael C.

Yelp
Outstanding soul food, to our team there for dinner enjoyed by the 15 of them, came in from all over the country!
google avatar

Dixine H.

Yelp
Food: the food always give me an aftertaste that makes me nauseous. The service is what I expect being on Old Nasty Nat (that's what we call old national hwy, tourists) and the ambiance gives me very worn. I would sit down to eat if there was an active shooter outside, it kinda stinks in there. But the juice and dessert is delicious! Actually the safest option in my opinion!!!
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by the front lady at our hotel. We did not expect to walk in a place with so much food and options. Literally, anything you can think your Mom or Grandmother would make is served here every day. Prices are very reasonable, and portion sizes are great. Food tasted good, and the service was top-notch. The next time I visit ATL, I will definitely visit this spot again
google avatar

Doujone M.

Yelp
Service: 10/10!! Being new to the country everyone there was so so kind and welcoming. They let me try different things and even tho it was packed they took there time explaining what some of the dishes were. Southern hospitality at its finest. Ambiance: a down to earth spot with good ambiance. Food: OKAY SO LET ME PUT YOU ONNNN..... it's a teennn outta teennn. Don't walk... RUN and get u some good soul food. I tried all the top spots... this one takes the cake! Don't say I didn't tell u.
