My boyfriend and I ventured to this spot on cloudy Saturday in hopes of finding some great eats. Upon arrival, we (accompanied with our 10-month-old son) stood at the front hostess podium for roughly 6 minutes while people bustled around us. Mind you, everyone looked in our direction, but no one had taken the time to ask if we'd been helped or needed seating. Not a great start.
We were seated at a booth by the actual hostess who had been busy in the back - she was really pleasant and apologetic, so we let the idle time we stood waiting, slide out of our thoughts. We ordered four food items, and none were too impressive.
Donut Burger Sliders: My boyfriend is an AVID enthusiast of burgers with glazed donuts as the buns. I personally had never had such a thing but, being the foodie I am, was eager to try. These little (and I do mean LITTLE) appetizers are $11. It wasn't stated on the menu, but they only come with two... not four like you would imagine, and like what was our impression. We ordered them as was, minus the mayo, because... yuck? They were tasty, but not a good enough portion for the size or the cost.
Chicken & (Jalapeño) Waffles: $16 of absolute horror. The waffles are four, pre-made and probably, most definitely frozen, little triangles of nothingness. I was hesitant about the jalapeños in them, but thought it might add a nice difference/spice in conjunction with the sweet syrup. The chicken was awful. It was too salty - granted, I know chicken confit means that it's preserved with salt and cooked over a long period of time... but this is not my first rodeo with chicken confit and this was absolutely the worst one I've had. If you're going to do chicken and waffles, the chicken needs to be crispy for texture - the crunch is the best part. This chicken was sad, and gross.
Pancakes / Eggs / Sausage: My boyfriend is more of an eater, than a reviewer. It's pretty tough to mess up this kind of American breakfast staple meal. In his words, his "pancakes were filling, the eggs could have been better, and the sausage was decent. However, my mimosa was the best part."
Hash browns: These were for my tot, who has an egg allergy. I was disappointed not only with the kids menu in general, but also lack of allergen substitutes. Nevertheless, the hash browns were okay - hard to mess up, I would imagine. But the chicken confit being so bad made anything seem possible.
Overall, very lack luster and won't be returning. Extremely overpriced and underwhelming.
