"Not to be confused with IHOP, the Scofields Farms location of the Portland-based chain offers more than a dozen types of pancakes. The apple pancake and the Dutch baby are not to be missed. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor dine-in services." - Darcie Duttweiler

I’m in town visiting my best friend and it’s my first time in Austin and Texas . He said this is one of his favorite spots and I can definitely see why. We went at a rather busy time for brunch but the wait was not too long at all . I had their Meatlover’s Omelette and 3 pancakes and oh my god. So good. Ask for a side of bacon as well . You wouldn’t be disappointed and the service was phenomenal. Definitely coming back here on my next visit.

I don't even want to write a glowing review of The Original Pancake House because it is awesome and I would love to keep it just a secret that me and my close friends know. The service is great and super friendly. The food is great I can find a thing on the menu that I don't like. The burrito and the apple pancake are amazing, the apple pancake is more of a dutch baby so it takes a bit to come to the table. So if you want it, order it when you order your drinks, especially if you have a group of people so your order comes out at the same time. The pecan pancakes are great, that is one of my go to items. I can also vouch that the gluten free pancakes are great too, I have someone that can't have gluten and ordered here and tried them. They tasted 95% if not 100% the same as the regular ones. The coffee is great diner coffee, and they come by very often to refill your cup. My cup was never empty or cold. So if you are in the mood for great breakfast food, check out The Original Pancake House.

Google
Five stars for being the GOAT breakfast joint. Consistent, delicious food, no matter the location. Typically great service-fast, efficient: Your coffee cup is always full. And a huge wide-variety, one-page menu for quick reading and selection.

Google
The food Overall is just ok. The crepes, eggs benedict, cowboy omelet and pancakes are nothing to rave about. Their potato savory pancakes are extra bland. Maybe other things will be better.

Google
The fruits are arranged by me. Don't expect that display when u order that. I went with group of friends and couple of them were running late and they don't sit us until the whole group was there. I get that kinda policy exist in some places. I'm not complaining. I'm just letting people know that they have that policy

Great service from kind and attentive waiters here! Unfortunately the food was just decent. Bacon-inside-pancakes concept was exciting and welcomed, but they were massive!

Google
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Original Pancake House, and it was a delightful experience. The bacon was crispy and perfectly cooked, adding a savory touch to the meal. The orange juice was a standout, incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor—definitely the best I've had in a long time. The highlight, of course, was the buttermilk pancakes. They were fluffy, light, and had just the right amount of sweetness. Paired with the scrambled eggs, which were cooked to perfection, the meal was a perfect start to the day. Overall, the combination of excellent food and friendly service makes The Original Pancake House a must-visit for breakfast lovers. Will be back this weekend, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

Google
This is one of those places where 5 stars is not enough. The menu offers lots of wonderful sounding options. The Dutch Baby is extraordinary. It takes a bit longer but well worth the wait. Whatever you choose, order the side of bacon. The bacon is OMG good. Thick and cooked almost to the point of burnt. It is the most perfect bacon I can ever recall having. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other menu items. The only drawback to this place, as you'd expect with such great food, is that there can be a wait to get seated.

Yelp
Delicious food and good service. Food consistent in all locations across the country. Have visited in WA, CO, MN and now TX. Definitely recommend!

Sandra V.

Yelp
The food was real good. My family and I enjoyed eating breakfast there. I would recommend to everyone

Yelp
I love The Original Pancake House. The Texas-sized bacon is awesome. Come Hungry! The breakfast combos always hits the spot! Everything on the menu is great. Their omelettes are very tasty as well. There is a great variety of pancakes to choose. My personal favorites are banana, blueberry and strawberry pancakes. Their coffee is great, too. The service and waitstaff are always friendly. The servers smile and it's a relaxed setting for your family and friends to enjoy conversations and the delicious breakfast. The restaurant is always clean and pleasant to visit. Come hungry leave happy! Best time to come is in the early morning around 7:30 am to beat the crowds on the weekend. The breakfast plates are consistently tasty and well prepared.

Yelp
Indulging in a pancake feast is always a treat, and this place certainly delivers on flavor. Every dish we ordered was a hit, but the Swedish pancake with tangy lingonberry sauce stole the show. The service was attentive, with our waiter ensuring our glasses were never empty. However, the only downside was the long wait both outside and for service. It's perplexing why there's such a high demand, leading to queues of up to 30 minutes. Nonetheless, once you sink your teeth into those delectable pancakes, the wait becomes a distant memory.

Angela R.

Yelp
Solid breakfast! Order half of what you think you can eat...quantities are generous. The Dutch baby is delicious, and don't forget lemon on top --really sets it off! Our group also had the farmers scramble, corned beef hash, Swedish pancakes, and potato pancakes. Everything was great! Only criticism I have is that the kids plate is a bit pricey. However, it's as large as an adult meal, so at least there's value and you can pack up leftovers.

Steve P.

Yelp
Being new to the area, looked up this place for some breakfast. We were greeted warmly from the beginning. We were seated at a nice table. Our server, John, if I'm not mistaken was amazing. Greeted us and unfortunately my wife and I had to leave expeditiously, so John helped us make our order for to go. We had the blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, turkey links, with avocado and fresh fruit. The food was great even tho we had to eat it later. I would definitely go back and try other meals.

Yelp
OVERVIEW: If you're craving a classic, no frills, staple pancake breakfast (or anything else, for that matter), this is the spot! HUGE menu, quick and efficient service, great food, and good coffee. I was in the mood for some restaurant-quality pancakes and this place hit the spot. Very affordable. They get quite busy on the weekends - we joined the Yelp waitlist and were 38th in line, but we got seated pretty quickly. Service was great and food came out hot and fast and delicious! QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, ample parking in a shopping center lot. - Reservations? No, but you can join the Yelp waitlist in advance. Pretty busy during the weekend brunch hours! - Takeout? Yes, you can order to-go. FOOD RATINGS: - Farmers' scramble (5/5): Eggs with sausage, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and cheese on top of hash browns. Loved this! Your choice of pancakes, hash browns, or toast as a side. - Chocolate chip pancakes (5/5): Rich and hearty, perfectly chocolate-y pancakes with whipped cream. Sooo good. Love that you can easily get pancakes as your side with any entree! - Lone Star Benedict (5/5): A fluffy biscuit topped with sausage, eggs, and gravy. Can't go wrong with that!

Yelp
All I can say I'm full. I was hungry so I didn't have a chance to take pictures. Next time. The servers required once we received. It was a 45 minute wait due to Sunday. I ordered a high protein with eggs, meat and potatoes and English muffin. Coffee was pretty good and I love the little creamer containers. This is going to be a study place during the week for me. I can't wait to go again and study and the over flow of coffee, fresh food and good vibe of employees during the week

Keith P.

Yelp
The food is always good and the service is usually pretty good too. I love that you can get bacon inside pancakes! They have really cool coffee mugs now! I

Wendilyn I.

Yelp
This is a popular spot for breakfast so if you come during peak hours, be prepared to wait. You'll be in good company. They text your phone updates and there are also other places nearby in the same complex where you can spend a little time. For example, we went to snowy village to get some milk tea while we waited the hour it took to seat us - a table for two. Once you're inside, everything is very efficient. It looks like any other breakfast diner with plenty of the hustle and bustle that you'd expect on a weekend. The servers have all been warm and are quick to top you off with water, coffee and any special requests - I always order strawberry syrup with my pancakes. If you haven't tried it before, I would recommend the Dutch Baby. It's not something that I've had anywhere else so its very unique. It can be your meal but I prefer to share it with the group so everyone can still order what they'd like.

Scott D.

Yelp
Busy breakfast spot with a terrific selection of traditional and original dishes. The buckwheat pancakes are a delight!. Bright and clean, with friendly service. They stay quite busy in the mornings, so be prepared for a possible wait and the food takes a while to come out, but it's freshly cooked and well worth it. The various scrambles are excellent - quite a lot of food and you well may end up toting some home. The waitstaff really hustles so your coffee cup won't stay empty for long.

Yelp
Thanks to the waitlist feature on Yelp that TOPH utilizes, I had a fast, efficient, and delicious time having Sunday brunch at TOPH! Of course the day I had a craving for pancakes and/or a waffle was on the first day of the deep central Texas freeze! Even at sub-20 temps, I ventured out into the blistering cold for a hot and sweet Sunday breakfast. With the waitlist feature on Yelp, it was easy to get on the waitlist at the right time and get seated immediately upon arrival. Getting on the waitlist at 9:30am meant getting a seat at around 10 minutes past 10. They don't serve lattes here, but their drip coffee comes with free refills and served in the most adorable-looking mugs! For the savory part of my brunch, I got the avocado toast which came sliced in half with feta cheese and tomato, and eggs on the side. For the sweet part of my brunch, the choices were overwhelming, but I eventually went with the cherry Belgian waffle. I think next time I'll go for the cinnamon roll pancakes... Everything was absolutely scrumptious, and the dishes were fairly priced too! Definitely check out TOPH if you are in North Austin, and while taking shelter in this restaurant during the freeze wasn't so bad, maybe save yourself the hassle and venture out on a "warmer" day.

Yelp
The photos do not do the food justice. Woke up past 11 am and all my favorite fast food breakfast spots had stopped serving breakfast. But not this place! Immediately placed an order online and picked it up with no problems. Parking was a bit hectic as it was close to closing time lol. Had enough leftover pancakes for the next day's breakfast, too. A win in my book!

Patti R.

Yelp
Waited in the long lines for this raved about location. Specified wanting a booth, but was sat at a table after our long wait instead. Was near the kitchen, and unpleasant odors were wafting our way. I don't think it helped that their AC appeared to be not functioning that day. Waitress did not bring requested items to our table and one set of potato pancakes took much longer to come to the table than the rest of the meal. Food was just okay and didn't strike me as anything special.

Justin M.

Yelp
I had never visited this restaurant... until today and I am VERY glad I did. Every part of my visit was outstanding. I was greeted immediately upon walking in, I was very quickly seated, the restaurant was nice and peaceful and enjoyable, the service was very speedy, and the food and coffee was very delicious. My only critique would be the syrup for the pancakes is not thick like syrup but it is very runny almost like water. Without a doubt an excellent experience and this place has gained another frequent customer.

Randy L.

Yelp
Great food, coffee, and service. Had the thick cut bacon, two-egg, half stack combo. Will return!

Techiie 0.

Yelp
Food has always been good. The service is pretty descent and the staff is very accommodating and friendly. The ambiance is like a regular breakfast/ brunch location. It's the only location in austin.

Chanel M.

Yelp
It can be quite busy so plan accordingly. I visit on Saturday at 8am and there wasn't a wait but when I left at 9:15am there was a line. There's a vast selection for you to choose from. The service was nice and quick and the food was tasty. Definitely recommend stopping by here for a good breakfast/brunch

Brigid P.

Yelp
I was so excited to see there is one in Austin! The menu is a little different than the LA ones but still good. The hash browns are different and weren't my fav but they were still good. My omelette was gigantic and so buttery and tasty. Some omelette a get dry and gross, not this one! I got a banana pancake too and it was so tasty. Food came out so quickly like u set the minutes perfect temperature and accurate. Our server John was accurate and kept my water full. Get on the online waitlist to save some wait cause it gets busy as it should!

Taylor U.

Yelp
Awesome food great service. First time there with my family and hmpicky eater my 3 year old and the best bacon we had. Yum. Get it crispy.

Shayer S.

Yelp
Have eaten here a few times over the years. It's always busy during the weekends. Non pretentious crowd. Meets expectations and good service. Less pricier than some of the more Instagram-able breakfast/brunch spots.

Abby M.

Yelp
The food is so good Their service was amazing and they were so kind And the restaurant is so beautiful

Stephanie W.

Yelp
This place is great! I love the clean & quaint atmosphere. The staff is always friendly, and the wait time is minimal during the week. The food is delicious. I love the blueberry pancakes & the Dutch baby.

Isa K.

Yelp
First time eating here. Joined the waiting list through yelp and was happy I did. I got the Texas Pecan Belgium Waffle. It was really good. I was very happy with the experience. Staff was friendly. Would definitely come again next time I'm in Austin.

Candace B.

Yelp
I'm so glad I don't live near this place as I would be here weekly. I had to go up north for a meeting and stopped by here and placed a to go order. First off, wonderful customer service as I was greeted when I walked in to pick up my order. I could feel the heat from the bag when it was handed to me, another good sign. When I arrived home, it was still warm and everything was delicious. Their waffles are huge and fluffy with tons of blueberries inside and out. The eggs were cooked perfectly along with crispy bacon and hashbrowns. It was worth every calorie!

Justyn D.

Yelp
Ok so here's the scenario, imagine walking along a woody area and then then BAM cracked in the mouth by the biggest branch... Yea welcome to the best breakfast this side of the tracks... 1st the SERVICE: not only does it give you the Austin vibes, but it is the most eclectic service staff I have ever encountered. The best thing about this is every single one of them are absolutely fantastic. They are very attentive. Conversation is always hysterical and you never want for anything. As for the food what can be said about breakfast? This place has definitely set the bar when it comes to making your day start off wonderfully everything we've ordered has been absolutely fantastic. Since our first time we have been multiple times and everything remains like a wash rinse repeat type scenario if you're looking for fantastic food service and just all around good vibe check this place out. You will not be disappointed and you will definitely be back.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Sam was our server and he was great. I was thinking of getting the breakfast burrito he recommended it and said it was great with the queso..it was realllly good. Put yourself on wait list that way you don't have to wait there there was a lot of people but I just put us on the waitlist at home, they seated us fast

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
A friend of my took me here for breakfast. While she loves the food there and enjoyed her meal that time too, I was quite disappointed in my eggs Benedict. I got a side of pancakes (because I was at a pancake place) and an eggs Benedict (what I actually wanted to eat) and my friend got chocolate chip pancakes with a side of hash browns. The pancakes were fluffy and satisfying and my friend said she loved the hash browns too. We sat at a booth, which was pretty comfortable, and they have regular tables too. Staff were polite and the restaurant was clean. I would recommend going there just for pancakes because it is a pancake house and they how know to do those well.

Brian T.

Yelp
This place is truly one of the places that lived up to its name! The pancakes are amazing... seriously to die for. The chocolate chip pancakes came with a delicious whipped cream and were moist and soft as cake. The potato pancakes are really interesting and delicious. Our waiter helped us out and taught us how to eat them (with sour cream and applesauce, separately) and they were a delight. Pictured is the Rigo and the Irish Omlette. Both were delicious. Am coming back again and would recommend to anyone!

Brooke D.

Yelp
I forgot to take a picture of my food but I just had lunch here with one of my coworkers and we had a good experience. The wait for the two of us was short so they had us seated quickly. Our server was super nice and personable when it came to us asking any questions about the menu. I got the eggs Benedict with potato pancakes. Everything was pretty good but I wouldn't say it was great. The hollandaise wasn't bad but wasn't amazing and the potato pancakes were just eh. I wish they were cooked longer so they could've been a little crispy on the outside. Next time I'm here I want to get a Dutch baby pancake :) my grandma used to make them and I have never seen a restaurant make them before.

Lindsey A.

Yelp
Great food, and delicious coffee w/ creamer! Sometimes it can be a long wait on the weekends

Pezzygal N.

Yelp
I dont even know where to start with this place. It is AMAZING! It is extremely busy. So I recommend signing up to their waitlist before you get there. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Worth the price. Next time, I will take some pictures. I ordered the waffle with strawberries, he ordered the biscuits and gravy platter, and we both shared the apple Dutch pancake (30 min or so wait for it and well worth it!). That pancake is better than anything related to apples that I have eaten. We will definitely be going back.

Elisa F.

Yelp
The food is delicious and so is the coffee. Service is always wonderful. Did I mention to coffee, it's so good.

Debbie S.

Yelp
Everything is awesome. Service: our waitress was very pleasant and very attentive. Food: we had the tacos and the senior two egg breakfast. It was awesome. Location: you're not too far from 35 on Parmer Atmosphere: it was just chatter, but it wasn't too loud. The restaurant was full on a Thursday morning.

Heather Y.

Yelp
The food was so good here. Service was ok. We had the cinnamon roll pancakes and a create your own omelet. Delicious! Mugs $25 each, which is crazy over priced but we bought one anyway.

Cilicia L.

Yelp
This was my first time here. The restaurant is pretty big and well lit. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the gluten-free Georgia pecan pancakes. I packed half of them up right away to have for breakfast the next day. Glad I did, because I barely finished the ones I left on my plate. They were light and delicious with lots of pecans. My friend had the 1/2 order of banana pancakes and a side of sausage patties. She said they were delicious, but she couldn't finish her food either. She said the coffee was good. I had hot tea, and the server brought me more hot water when I requested it. Next time I am bringing my sons. They would love this place.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
My husband is from the San Francisco Bay Area and recommended it. The food is ALWAYS on point! We eat here as often as we can now. Love this place!

Tonya Lynne C.

Yelp
Hit the original spot. Been way too long. Delish breakfast. Dutch baby is where it is at. That's my one and only. So good you don't even need syrup or fruit or or... Pro tip....get on the waitlist before you leave. I absolutely love the YELP waitlist! First time using it and it was so worth it. Got on the list with an hour wait from my house. Drove the 30 mins over there and checked in. Was seated within 5 mins. BONUS no fuss about me being a single eater or sitting me in a children's table or corner. Some places do that. It was a table for four for me. So spacious. Lovely. Loved all the shamrocks!! I uploaded a photo. So yummy! Get you some!

Nabeeha Q.

Yelp
I made a pit stop in Austin a few weeks ago and had a pretty nice time here. The original pancake house was might seem like an IHOP dupe at first glance, but this place was A LOT better than I was expecting. I'd rate it 8s/10. The service was great, food was delicious, and all of us had a great time. My only qualm is that we had to wait an extra 30 minutes outside for a table, even after being on the wait list for 2 hours on YELP beforehand. ------------ I shared an omelette and red velvet pancakes. The pancakes were melt in your mouth, I want to come back for more 10/10. The omelette was also a pretty solid 8/10, could've used more seasoning though. Price: averaged to $15/person

Michael C.

Yelp
The food was great!! Two of our party had an egg and pancake combo, with 2 different specialty pancakes, strawberry topping and chocolate chip. The over-easy eggs were perfectly cooked. Their bacon is really special. :) It's smoky, thick-cut, and extra hearty, and they're generous with the slices. The eggs benedict and hash browns were also delicious. They have a lot of sides and add-ons to their plates, and the waitress got all our extra requests right the first time. She was smiling and cheerful and very attentive with refilling our coffee and drinks. It was crazy busy on a Sunday morning at 10, with every table filled and also the waiting room inside the front door. I suggest calling ahead so you can do your waiting before leaving home. The ambiance--it's pretty loud when it's packed with people. It's not sceney or a place dress up and be seen, but is very comfortable and come as you are. The wait staff looked happy and pitched in to help each other out to keep things moving. I'll definitely be going back!

Gia A.

Yelp
Good food, but prices went up. Still go there at least once a month simple cause the convinience.

Dan K.

Yelp
First review of '23 for me. It feels very un-Austin of me to five star a chain but here I am. The Original Pancake house is, hands down, one of the best breakfast establishments in Austin. Being what feels like an OG Austinite, I'd go to blows with anyone who badmouths Kerbey lane and their respective empire but honestly, they've lost their way. Kerbey isn't what it was 25 years ago whereas the Original Pancake house is one of the best run places with solid food and service. Highlights: Obvious shout out to the Dutch baby. Where else are you gonna get one of those? Then, some of the best bacon around. Thick sliced, cooked well. Even their scrambled eggs are always on point. Hash browns -- asked for them with jalapeños and cheddar and they hooked it up. Loaded. Not just once but every time we've been. Crepes, pancakes all solid. Coffee mild and gets the job done. I wish they'd expand but whatever they're doing, they're doing well. Special shout out to the managers and staff. Y'all run a great shop. Keep it up.

Lauren D.

Yelp
This place is magnificent! I highly recommend it and it is worth the wait if you want a country style breakfast! I will be back here again to try more types of food. I unfortunately did not take pictures of our meal because we ate it all so fast! If you order the Dutch Baby Pancakes be warned, there is a 30 mi Ute wait but it is delicious! I got a side of lingonberries and it did not disappoint! My husband got a side of corned beef hash and an omelette. He was ranting and raving about how tasty it was! Our server was genuinely nice and very helpful! I saw the manager but she did not table touch at all nor did she smile. Their coffee cups are awesome! They are nice and high quality! So much so that when you are seated, they ask you how many people will be drinking coffee. I thought that was odd but it worked out. I will be back to try another breakfast item and rant and rave about this place. Parking was difficult to find; get ready to become a vulture and stalk your prey to their spot like we did! Most importantly enjoy the food!

Steve W.

Yelp
There are many five star reviews and much of the acclaim is deserved, so why the 3 1/2 stars from me? First of all, this place bills itself as a pancake house, yet the one thing that should definitely be on the table is notably absent. In other words, they do not have any real maple syrup for the pancakes that they're famous for, but instead they just have this cheap fake flavored syrup. As a result, I opted for the hash browns instead, which was one of the options only to find that they were disappointingly flavorless and most likely previously frozen from a bag. I realize maple syrup is expensive, but it should be on the menu as a 2 to 3 dollar special charge, which would've turned this into a five star review and thus spared me the mediocre hashbrowns which was the pancake substitute. With that said, I have to admit the meat lovers scramble was absolutely fantastic, and better than anything I could make at home. Everyone else at the table also polished everything off. The service and coffee was also very good. If I find out they offer real maple syrup in the future, I will definitely be back.

CJ S.

Yelp
Service from our server Alexis was great, our meals came out in a perfectly timed manner and exact. This was a wonderful first experience! Thank you :)

Jeana T.

Yelp
Awesome best pancakes and service Everything on the menu is fantastic my fav is the 49er

Michael S.

Yelp
Great breakfast and great service. If you're looking for a solid breakfast and no frills, OPH is your place.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Tried this place because of an episode of Bobs Burgers the mention of a "Dutch baby" had me curious so I took to Yelp! It's pretty good; everything is just "okay" and the prices are a little outrageous lol I ordered to-go and was going to order a fountain drink. The lady that took my order said all they had were small cups (literally the size of a small McDonalds cup) at $4...hell naw!!! lol I might be back because my friend wants to try a Dutch baby, but that's it.

Joshua J.

Yelp
I do love all things breakfast and after trying The Original Pancake House for the first time, I was mad that I hadn't had it sooner. The pancakes are jumbo sized, delicious, and have creative flavors. That restaurant was pretty spacious and the help staff were fantastic. Will be back!

Andrea B.

Yelp
We love OPH. Been to Chicago area ones and are happy to have one in Austin. Best pancakes! Crepes & waffles are all good. Batter is made fresh daily. Juice is squeezed fresh too! I love a German pancake, try the Dutch Baby! Best sausage patties. Thick bacon. Can't go wrong with anything on menu.
