"No visit to OSU is complete without a stop at the Original Pancake House, a classic local restaurant that channels a comfy diner or a weekend at grandma’s place. The warm and delightfully fluffy pancakes are topped with a light whipped butter and come in flavors ranging from savory (potato pancakes) to sweet (strawberry) to indulgent (the Buckeye pancake arrives filled and topped with peanut butter and chocolate chips). Aside from the eponymous pancakes, OPH serves a savory chorizo eggs Benedict, cherry Kijafa crepes (made with fruit simmered in Kijafa liqueur), Belgian waffles, and a western omelet." - Angela Lee

The eggs Benedict was scrumptious. A little pricey but worth every penny. Large enough portions to share. Likely my favorite breakfast spot in Columbus. Clean, friendly service and the fireplace at the entrance adds a nice ambiance.

We stopped in for breakfast this morning. We were seated instantly. Our waitress Michelle was the cutest and friendliest waitress. Very fast service, from just getting our water, our order taken to getting our food. Food was tasty. The homemade sauces were pretty scrumptious.

Great food. Be aware that the portions are large. Service is quick and even when really busy not that long of wait time. Got the Buckeye pancakes, would recommend.

Our server Rachel was great and answered any questions I had. The restaurant is spacious. They have many cushy booths rather than uncomfortable hard chairs around tables. My omelette was cheesy, just the way I like it 😋 my meal came with 3 fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The syrup they use is good too. I enjoyed my coffee and fresh squeezed OJ. They bring water to the table with a 1 liter pitcher to refill yourself so you don’t have to wait for a refill when you’re thirsty. I got one of their handmade stoneware mugs for my wonderful mother in law. I know she will love it!! ♥️

I had a delightful experience at the Original Pancake House during my recent visit with my wife and mother-in-law. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. The cozy ambiance made us feel right at home. The menu offered a wide variety of delicious pancake options, and we couldn't resist trying a few different ones. Each pancake was cooked to perfection, fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the edges. The classic buttermilk pancakes were a favorite, but the specialty pancakes were a true treat. The pumpkin pancake, in particular, was a sweet and savory delight that we couldn't get enough of. Not only were the pancakes outstanding, but my mother in law said the coffee was also top-notch, keeping her happily caffeinated throughout our meal. The portions were generous, and we left feeling completely satisfied. What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. They even accommodated my mother-in-law's dietary preferences with a smile. Overall, our visit to the Original Pancake House was a memorable one. It's the perfect spot for a cozy breakfast or brunch with loved ones. We left with full hearts and full bellies, and I can't wait to return for another delightful meal.

Colin was our server today. We told him we had been to another location in DC and he said this place was better and he was CORRECT. Food was excellent, service was amazing, kept our coffee mugs and water glasses full. Excellent for 2 or your family. The management came to check on us we felt very taken care of. We will definitely be back . 10 out of 10

Google
The food is good but wildly overpriced. The waitstaff are wonderful but the management and front desk are borderline non-functioning. Come in on a busy day and they will hand you a random number, and then forget which numbers were assigned in what order and seat parties randomly, so you’ll enjoy the sight of four tables being sat that arrived after you. They also have a sign saying that incomplete parties will not be seated, but per the manager that only applies when they feel like enforcing it, apparently. Honestly, for the hassle and the prices, ihop or Waffle House are better.

Came in near the end of their hours, maybe 1:45 (open 7-2:30). Quick service, very tasty, loved the waffle and side of hash browns the most. My daughter got the hugest omelet I have seen, made me envious, but it had mushroom, so can't vouch for how it tasted.

Yelp
Rebecca T was the best waitress we've had a a restaurant in 10 years. funny, attentive great service

Kel W.

Yelp
Service was impeccable with super friendly and knowledgeable server Rebecca T making our day! I don't think o have ever gotten this level of service outside of a fancy 5 star restaurant and not often then! All of the atmosphere was lovely and friendly and they even blessed our table after the wait with a free Apple Dutch pancake. Food is always yummy as well! But the energy at this location was incredible! Rebecca should be a training manager!!

Yelp
Finally got here. It's tucked in the back of the mall; getting at it can be a challenge, though you can park out front and walk through. Bright and shiny inside, feels very new. But the service and food feel old, in a good way. Real fresh-made food, served up with a smile and a joke. Half full at 11am on a Monday. All the usual suspects, plus a few specialties. Plus loads of pancakes, of course, served even with other items. I'm not a big fan, so I picked something without them. And also, they have hash, so I was pretty much deciding amongst things that had it. The Irish Benedict seemed appropriate for mid-March, and sounded really good. And it was: tons of good hash, over English muffins, with eggs and a pile of good hash browns. The waitress asked if I wanted cheese and onions on the potatoes, and that seemed like a good idea. She brought hot sauce, but there was plenty of flavor all around. The hollandaise was great, and again there was a lot of it. Fresh-squeezed OJ, pricey but good. It's always been expensive, but it's so much better. And the meal all in all was pretty steep for breakfast, but it was really good and there was more than I could finish. I'll be back, with the family.

Gillian S.

Yelp
Stopped here on the way back home for a yummy breakfast before heading back out on the road! I got the Chorizo Eggs Benedict, which is chorizo, onions, bell peppers and two eggs on an English muffin topped with homemade hollandaise sauce! I always love trying new hollandaise sauce and this one was yummy! I do wish it had a little more spice to it, but the cholula sauce did the trick for me! The hash browns - like always - were crispy and good! My friend got the Buckeye Pancakes and those were DELICIOUS! Peanut butter and chocolate together on anything is a good choice! I even got to eat some of them, which was my favorite part! If I ever get the chance to come back down and try this place again, I will definitely be trying some more of their fun-flavored pancakes!

Ines D.

Yelp
I love a good breakfast joint and the OG pancake house does not disappoint with taste. However i do have a little bit of beef with this spot bc it's SO overpriced. I never leave without spending an absurd amount for a simple breakfast. Make sure you come early or be prepared to wait (thought it's usually a short wait time). Just keep in mind they are always packed! My servers have always been kind and attentive nonetheless. Overall a 3.5-4 / 5 rating. I would prefer a small diner for a breakfast as such

Allison S.

Yelp
Pancakes are AMAZING!! Even the kids ones are a lot. Kinda pricey but worth it for sure!

Natalie E.

Yelp
We are so glad we stopped here while in Ohio for Thanksgiving. These were the best pancakes we've had ever! From plain, to pumpkin to blueberry, everything we tried was delicious. We also liked the coffee, bacon and omelettes. The omelettes were gigantic! Also, our server was so friendly and helpful. His advice and recommendations were spot on. The restaurant was clean and well lit. It was comfortable, tables weren't too close together. We will be back!

Leah R.

Yelp
Outstanding! I can't believe this was my first time here! The menu is huge, so I'll for sure be back. Portions are also big. Service was fantastic, quick, thorough, orders came out right, coffee was filled timely. The decor was more modern than I thought it would be, but I loved it. The food, oh man, the food was excellent. Pancakes of course were fluffy and tasty. Even their coffee was good! The Irish omelette which is what I had was huge and fluffy and thick! Absolute amazing and will be back!

Bob I.

Yelp
Everyone about this place is great. Food, service, attitudes- all of it is. Except the parking, which can be tough. Be prepared to get your exercise depending on day/time!

Rosalind C.

Yelp
The 4 stars are for the pancakes and service. The souffle eh, the omelette never again, the pancakes, yes please. Y'all how good do the pancakes have to be for you to be average with everything else I had and still get 4 stars. Yes, the pancakes are that good. I mean the name says it all. I am not from Ohio but I was told to try this place. I am glad I did because this place is awesome. The staff went above and beyond. I would come back solely for the service. Please please please try this place, get the pancakes and watch how your life change. These pancakes make the world not look so bad. Yes, they are that good!

Emily G.

Yelp
Cute breakfast restaurant. Excellent service and food! So many options to choose from and large portion sizes. It's definitely one of my favorite places to get breakfast. The orange juice was ok but probably wouldn't get again because it was kind of room temperature.

George B.

Yelp
Good food and very friendly staff. Omelettes are big and they come with three pancakes. More food than I could eat! I'm in Upper Arlington area of Columbus for a month and will eat here again.

Anton K.

Yelp
Columbus, Ohio is an eight hour drive so the next morning leaves me a bit fatigued. At the suggestion of my daughter, we went for breakfast at "The Original Pancake House" in upper Arlington which is near The Ohio State University which I'll be going to in the course of my weeks stay. Upper Arlington is an upscale neighborhood of Columbus and the homes and food prices reflect it. The restaurant is located in a courtyard which has a host of other businesses. This restaurant is family owned and operated. The interior is very modern, well maintained and upbeat. I need that in the morning. The seating is comfortable and counter seating is available. We sat at a booth. I ordered the very tasty Blueberry Waffle $14.95. The menu has many options with some unique offerings. The menu also gives you a calorie count. It turns out those Blueberry Pancakes had (978) calories. Put your hands together for Jesus. My cappucino was $4.45 for a decent size cup. The Original Pancake House has sit-in, carryout and a delivery option set-up with Door Dash. I gave this restaurant 3 Stars because New Jersey Diners have spoiled me.

Shaun S.

Yelp
The restaurant is very nice but for the price to me it's not worth it. 3 for breakfast cost $94, and the syrup was wayyy to sweet.

Shereene N.

Yelp
I was there for vacation and Saturday and Sunday my family went there for breakfast, and boy I tell you, their food is amazing! I personally loved the strawberry pancakes but the hash browns were to die for with cheese and onions. The service was fantastic! They didn't rush you, We had Liane as a waitress and she was phenomenal! She made you feel like family and always happy! I would definitely recommend going there if you ever visit Columbus! They make you feel happy and full

Gary W.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant on a Wednesday around 10 am. The decor was modern and extremely clean. I got the pumpkin pancakes and they were delicious. I've gotten many things that were allegedly pumpkin flavored and been disappointed but this was the real deal. My wife ordered the pecan pancakes and she very much enjoyed hers. Waitress was attentive with keeping our coffee cups full which was also good. Only downside was it set us back $39 before tip but we left happy and full.

Keenan T.

Yelp
There was no wait and once we found the front door we were seated quickly. The waitress suggested adding onions and cheese to the hash browns which both had a hefty price increase and didn't add much to the dish. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The chorizo was delicious and paired well with the toppings. The space was large and open on the inside and felt less cramped than some of their other locations in town.

Edward S.

Yelp
Food is great but not the price, service is alright, we went at a time when it wasn't so busy. Coffee tasted pretty bland for drip coffee. I got the eggs Benedict and it wasn't bad but the Hollandaise sauce was broken. My partner got a fruit crepe, and she said it was alright, but she got a side of bacon and it was almost $8!! For just 3 pieces!!? That costs as much as half of most dishes here. My issue is this: Diners are supposed to be simple, and it gets that, but for a simple breakfast it shouldn't cost so much. Paid over $55 for a breakfast for 2, that's wild

Ness S.

Yelp
Updating my review. The service is excellent each time we have been here. The restaurant has a typical diner type of ambience, which is airy and comfortable. So far we have tried their pancakes, various omelettes, and eggs Benedict. I would say their omelettes are outstanding, but everything else has been just okay. The banana pancakes are made with over-ripe bananas (and we've ordered them at two different occasions). The eggs Benedict were somewhat drier than they should be and the hollandaise sauce was just okay. However, the hash browns were delicious.

Michaela S.

Yelp
I've ordered takeout from here once or twice but never dined in, and I had been missing out! We stopped in here on a busy Sunday, and our party of two was sat immediately (our lucky day)! We quickly started off with a hot chocolate and coffee that came quick and hot. My partner got the Western omelet, which was quite possibly the largest omelet I have ever seen. It was like quiche sized. He liked it, said he wished he would have got it with cheddar cheese, but it definitely had enough ham to make the cost worth it. My hashbrowns and eggs were good. The hashbrowns were wayyy greasier than they looked but still good. Of course, the pancakes were perfect so they live up to their name. Our server was great and we will be back soon!

Susan S.

Yelp
Because when I go to Chicago I go to a place called the Original Pancake House - and is SO GOOD, I was really happy when I learned that there is one here in Ohio. I visited the one in Upper Arlington on Sunday. We got there at about 10:30, and it was super crowded; we were told there was a 45 minute wait. There were lots of people inside the restaurant, sitting and waiting to be called, so we had to wait outside which was not fun because it was chilly. When we were finally called, I was surprised that, although it was super crowded, we were waited on expeditiously! Our waiter, Jalen, was super nice and his service was excellent. I ordered a Western omelet - and was SUPER huge! Over 2,000 calories, so you can imagine what it looked like. Though the order came with buttermilk pancakes, I substituted Georgia Pecan pancakes and was not disappointed. You pay extra for the substitution, but it was worth it for me. Those who order pancakes get six of them; if you get something else, your order comes with three pancakes. My daughter got crepes, which she totally annihilated, and her husband got sausage and scrambled eggs with cheese. The coffee was good and they kept it coming. I had to get a box to take my food home. You almost have to, because at least when it comes to omelets, you get a lot of food. You park in the parking lot outside the restaurant; there is a lot of it because the restaurant is in a strip mall - and there is also parking in the back. The main difference between The Original Pancake House and the International House of Pancakes is price. The former is more pricey. The pancakes of both places are about even in terms of comparing them. If you haven't been, try it, and see if you prefer it or IHOP. It was a good experience.

Nancy K.

Yelp
The pancakes were delicious but I don't understand why everything else on the menu is so overpriced, including basic coffee. We would return for pancakes but hold off on the other menu options as it wasn't worth it. Could easily all in drop $60 on breakfast for two...

Joe C.

Yelp
French toast is amazing! Every time I come to Ohio and I'm in the area I always make it a point to stop here.

Carol S.

Yelp
OMG, the apple dutch baby was excellent. Our server, Leanne, knew we wanted them carmelized and it certainly was the way we like it. YUM. I had never had the sausage patties there before, but it was the best I've ever had. A word about Leanne. She is also a manager and I can see why. She was attentive, so personable, and completely took care of us. I have a wheelchair and she found a table for us (table 30?) that gave me space to fold it and store it where I could reach it if I need the restroom. Oftentimes, it gets placed at other restaurants at the far corner of the room and I have to flag someone down to bring it to me. We enjoyed her and the experience and pleasant time we had there and the delicious breakfast. We will go soon again and will ask for Leanne. Hey, Leanne! Keep our table warm for us, will you? Reuben, you've got a gem in this woman.

Peggy H.

Yelp
Best blueberry pancakes ever! Older place but it is the Original Pancake House;) Service is good was pretty fast and accurate

Autumn B.

Yelp
What I ordered was good but it cost $55.00 for two people. I think that is ridiculous for breakfast !!

Schyler B.

Yelp
Yum yum yum! my ex and I would come there almost ever Saturday when we hung out! I always got the strawberry waffles "Michaels waffle dream" I think it was called Goodness their bacon!!!! Worth the cost, thick and perfectly tender! The waffles so perfect, fluffy and golden brown! All I have are good memories form this location in particular, the staff were always cheerful (even when it was super super busy) What a fantastic place!!! Please if you have the opportunity you should totally come here!!!!

Madhu S.

Yelp
"If you are looking for some good breakfast and a wonderful place for dine in then this's your place to go. They had various breakfast options especially pancakes, waffles, egg specialties and omelette. Quality was really good but to be honest I felt like it was bit expensive to the quantity they've provided. Below are some of the captures from this place .....

Kimberly B.

Yelp
OMG! I don't think I'll ever go to another breakfast place again! This place is fantastic. Such a beautiful place inside. Food is great, portions are more the average and the service is great. Thank you Kaylee. You are the best.

Lee W.

Yelp
Went with a friend and our bill was about $60 for breakfast! Everything is ala carte. I got some crepe and it was decent, but you don't get any sides included and they charge a decent amount for everything extra. For $30 I just got a crepe, hash browns and onions and a coffee. For what I paid for my portion, I could have went to first watch and paid for 2 meals. The bacon my buddy got was good, but was about 7 bucks and this was 2 years ago. The coffee could be a lot better too. I'd rather go spend $60 on dinner than an average breakfast for 2.

Esteban M.

Yelp
Great service, clean area, everyone was extremely attentive and friendly the food was amazing the quality is great everything was cook to perfection the fresh squeezed Orange juice is perfect it's what juice should be the coffee was perfect definitely worth what you are paying for.

Christina D.

Yelp
"Why does this apple pancake cost fourteen dollars?" The apple pancake: *the size of a pizza, easily serves two, smothered in a pile of apples and cinnamon sugar* I randomly found this place on Yelp because it's pretty hidden in the back of the shops, but I'm glad I stopped by for takeout. I got the apple pancake and a side of bacon, and everything was perfectly cooked, and even stayed warm until I got home. I couldn't make the website work for online ordering, but the waitress who answered the phone was great, and everything was ready when I got there. The space looks really nice, with lots of windows and cozy booths, so hopefully dine-in will eventually be an option again. Definitely a great place to try if you're looking for a new breakfast option around Upper Arlington.

Judy C.

Yelp
Awesome atmosphere. Server was friendly and super attentive. She came around to fill my coffee every ten mins. We'll be back the next time we are in OH

Marie B.

Yelp
Every meal I've had here has been nothing short of delicious. I tried it for the first time last summer on my birthday! I have been obsessed since. My go to order is either the dutch baby or the 49er flapjacks, and a side of hash browns. On top of these I've also tried the belgian waffle and the apple pancake/dutch baby which are both good as well! The 49er flapjacks I ordered randomly one day and I am so glad I did. They have an addictive texture, almost like a crepe. So good with the butter and syrup on top. The dutch baby is perfect, with a lemon glaze/sauce they make for you at the table. Their hash browns are my favorite kind - soft on the inside and crispy on the exterior. Their prices have definitely gone up but it's worth it in my opinion for how good the food it. And I've always had great service as well!

Buddy Jack E.

Yelp
This place is spectacular. I had the best Western Omelet ever. The ham, peppers, and onions were cut to a size that you actually saw them! Amazing. The pancakes were very good, too. It's a lot of food but I certainly enjoyed tucking into everything. Special congratulations to Jennifer C. She was a fantastic server and made the experience all the more enjoyable. This has my highest recommendation.

Terrence M.

Yelp
Hey yelp fam!!! So decided to find breakfast and my spirit wanted eggs Benedict. Opted to try this place and was let down unfortunately. Order: Coffee ($3.25); Irish Benedict w/ side of hash-browns ($12.50) + onions ($1.75) + bell pepper ($1.75); & side of Blueberry pancakes ($6.45). Total $25.70 before tax. Pros: the blueberry pancakes were soooooo damn good!!! They melted in my mouth and there was plenty of blueberries throughout. They keep the coffee coming lol. They asked at least 5 times if we wanted a refill. Cons: my eggs in my Benedict were over cooked to the point that the yolk was solid. They did bring me another pair of poached eggs! The food was bland (i.e., absent of salt & pepper or seasoning). The coffee taste like dirt. I didnt finish the coffee. To add insult to injury, the waitress didnt let us know that adding onions and bell-peppers would be $1.75 a piece for a sprinkle of onions and bells. That's ridiculous. Overall, my bill was $27.63 and the food was not even worth it. I have had better for cheaper. I did leave a 20% cash tip as I know the struggle but damn!!!!

Barbara F.

Yelp
Okay, everything was as good as in the past. The food and the service was terrific. The only complaint I had was the price. The prices on everything from the gas stations to grocery stores has gone up, so it's understandable that their prices went up too. But, I did feel that over $4.00 was a little over priced for coffee. Otherwise, if your in the area with the money to spare, I say give it a try.

Payal P.

Yelp
This is my go to spot over any diner in Columbus for breakfast/lunch. I love their buttermilk pancakes!! They do not taste like typical pancakes, they are more savory to me. I highly advised you order a side of them with anything you order. I've tried a wide variety of items (waffles, latke, Dutch baby) and the buttermilk pancakes are the best for its buck. I will say the addition of fruits/veggies/toppings can get expensive so be careful when ordering. I ordered carry out for my sister and she puked after so I don't know if it was food poisoning or not so that's why I took out one star.

Kendra L.

Yelp
This is my first time to this OPH. I usually go to the one at Polaris but was closer to this one today so we thought we'd give a try. It couldn't be much different, right? We were happy to be seated right away. We ordered and received our food shortly thereafter. I decided to change it up and get the French Toast and it was okay. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't the best I've ever had. I appreciated that the bread they used is sliced thick. I got the freshly squeezed orange juice and it was worth every penny. What we didn't care for was how noisy the restaurant was. We also didn't have an issue with our waitress but when we got the bill, we asked the waitress at the next table over for a pen. She wouldn't look at us but she handed us one. When I was done I handed it back and again she would not even look in my direction. She was clearly annoyed. I'll continue to go to the OPH at Polaris but I won't be back to this location.

Nikki B.

Yelp
10:30am on a Monday food was good, as always, but hostess sat us next to restrooms with a straight shot looking into kitchen area when there was LOTS of available seating; near windows and elsewhere. Instead of requesting elsewhere we just hoped it would be nice & quiet. But nope! Lots of yelling in & from kitchen and even to the hostess once when kitchen staff or server inside kitchen noticed a couple folks standing at entrance for a little while. From kitchen we heard dishes crash to floor & it was just not the usual scene we've experienced in multiple past visits. We joked that maybe the manager was out at a meeting & the staff was just sort of running amuck lol In college I worked food service & have witnessed ornery & unusual events when staff knows management is out! So, it's human nature, I get it! But just not expecting it, especially with the higher prices there. After being seated we sat there a good little while with servers walking into and out of kitchen & even to restroom lol but finally someone noticed us sitting with an empty table and said "oh! sorry!" & they'd be right with us. Ordered food and coffee & everything came out looking good and hot but then had to wave down servers a couple times for coffee refills. Plain black coffee was nearly $5 and we wanted more than just one half-filled mug at least...it was Just not the experience I had hoped for nor have been used to when choosing this particular place when I'm usually gladly paying a bit more for a nice experience for brunch. Not this time. Disappointed. Darn it. Off day? Hopefully!

Kate W.

Yelp
I walked in around brunch time and was seated immediately! The location is also super cute as it located a little farther back from the road in an adorable little area. The service was amazing, I wish I could remember the name of my server because she was so attentive and hilarious. I went here with my step sister who has a lot of dietary restrictions. The staff was very helpful and provided her with a lot of options (vegetarian/vegan/gluten free). They were able to put together some sides and make a meal which was super nice because going out to eat with so many restrictions can be such a hassle some times! I got the chocolate chip pancakes and they were so picture worthy! I'm not a big pancake person, but decided to try them because it is called original pancake house. I definitely didn't regret my decision! I also got a side of the loaded hash browns, but unfortunately was originally served regular hash browns. The staff was super kind and fixed the issue almost immediately. I'm a huge brunch person and am hoping to be able to come back soon!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
On top of those delicious pancakes, I now have to add some of the best eggs Benedict I've had! I loved the spicy chorizo, made the dish super flavorful!

Leah G.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and recently had the chorizo omelette and it is to die for, it is amazing so tasty so fresh and huge portion. Wasn't too impressed with the pancakes that you get for free but I will definitely be back for the chorizo omelette!!

Noa M.

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a Sunday morning around 9:45. Luckily we found a seat at the bar because the restaurant became crowded shortly there after. We shared our meal. It was just enough for us, as each option on the menu come as seemingly big portions. It sure was delicious though. We also liked the fresh squeezed OJ - it's worth the $6. Overall, if you're looking for a comforting breakfast, this is the spot!

Gwen L.

Yelp
The place to go if you want amazing pancakes, if you want anything else best to go elsewhere. Nearly everything on the menu is overpriced for what you get. To add any toppings it's 1.75/each for minimal toppings. This place gets packed for brunch! Although usually good about giving accurate wait times. The servers are helpful and generally nice, but they are so busy they seem hectic and stressed--this doesn't make for my perfect brunch environment. The pancakes though, they are melt in your mouth delicious and keep this place alive. Otherwise, the omelet was undercooked and quite runny with minimal toppings inside, hash browns cold, and the coffee tasted burnt.

Christina H.

Yelp
Came here for a late Sunday brunch yesterday and was surprised to find how busy this place was even at 12pm! We waited more than the quoted wait time, but eventually found a spot open up at the breakfast bar. My advice would be to prepare to wait but sit at the bar if you can because it's quicker. If you've never been, every order comes with a stack of pancakes. We underestimated how much food we would be getting with our order. Next time we will probably split a meal and order a side of bacon or sausage. You get so much food for your $$! Everything on the menu is good. They have specialty pancakes that rotate throughout the year and many ways to customize things. I recommend the blueberry pancakes! We will be back, but will try on a less busy day.

Kenyatta S.

Yelp
The service and friendliness by Rebecca Lynn was excellent! The food was phenomenal and the ambiance was great, we had a meeting and the staff placed us in a back room and checked on us constantly, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Stu J.

Yelp
A very friendly service in a comfy setting, with generous portions of a high quality breakfast! A special treat when we are in Columbus earlier in the day.

Heather B.

Yelp
Beware the upsell. I have been eating at the Original Pancake House in other cities so many times. Never had a problem. Took my family, two adults one teen and child and was looking forward to a nice breakfast. We got an extremely chatty waitress who was also the hostess when we arrived. We gave our order and she made suggestions would you like strawberries on the pancakes, powdered sugar on your pancakes. I order eggs Benedict, how did I want my hash browns, she mentioned onion, peppers, mushrooms, cheese, I said sure load it up. I've been many restaurants when you order potatoes do you want butter, sour cream, bacon, cheese, etc. Didn't think a thing. She never mentioned once there would be a surcharge or extra charge. Once she got the order she disappeared, coffee cups sat empty, time went buy. Finally food came as well as the check, with a not to rush you but for your convenience. We started to eat and to be honest I glanced at the check and could not believe that she had charged me individually for every item in the loaded hash browns. $12.50's worth, in addition to a small bowl of berries $2.95 and small bowl of whipped cream $2.95. So my eggs Benedict which I ordered instead of costing $15.00 was now $27.50. I called the waitress over and by now her chatty personality was sullen I told her I had no idea you were charging me per item. She said that everyone knows those things are extra. And just stood there in a stare down. I asked to speak to the manager. Manager came over and also pretty sullen and I thought rude. Explaining all the wait staff are trained to upsell and it is on the menu, and what did I want her to do. I said take the charges off. She glared at me and said well are you going to eat it. I hadn't even started eating yet, my food was getting cold. I told her no, just bring me regular hash browns. At this point everyone at the table was upset, my daughter walked out embarrassed and angry. The waitress now had an attitude, and the angry manager made me wait 15 mins for the new hash browns leaving the old ones to sit in front of me. I had lost my appetite. It was a disaster, the whole upsell the patron and my ignorance of this practice ruined our Saturday, plus I paid $91.00 for a breakfast I wish we never had. So please when dining there be aware of all these suggestions the staff makes. It's not to help you enjoy your breakfast. They are upselling you to increase your bill without telling you. I find the whole concept shameful. But unfortunately it is the world we live in where corporate greed overtakes treating people with respect, courtesy, and honesty.

Yelp
I don't often go to chain restaurants and try to support local businesses and franchises instead. That being said, my girlfriend and I have now had breakfast at this location of the Original Pancake House six times this year, and each time it has hit the spot. I'm a big fan of eggs benedict, and this is the best place I've found in Columbus for standard, diner-quality bennies. The hollandaise is always the perfect consistency, and the eggs are always poached perfectly. The hashbrowns also deserve mention -- crispy without being overly greasy. You can always hear the chefs being expedited, which shows they have a good system. I've had non-benny breakfasts there a couple of times too (pancakes and waffles), and those were good as well. I *will* say that some of the prices are a little high. If you don't look at the beverage menu and just assume a cup of diner coffee or a glass of OJ would be $2-3, you'd be sorely mistaken. The coffee is $5, and the OJ is $6. The coffee is indeed diner quality, so it's not like you're getting french press or pour-over (nor would you expect to). The OJ is "freshly squeezed," but last I checked oranges weren't that pricey. I can live with $16 for a benny, but there's a slight disconnect between the food and the prices overall -- especially the beverages. Staff is always polite, but half of our visits have resulted in long waits for them to take the bill. All told, we'll keep going back, even if there are a few caveats.
