Let’s talk about the Dutch Baby. Not a human, not a pet, but a glorious, puffy oven-baked pancake that deserves its own fan club. It takes 15–20 minutes to cook, but honestly that just gives you time to emotionally prepare for greatness. When it arrived, golden and dramatic, I swear the room went silent. The edges were crispy, the middle custardy, and I immediately questioned why I’ve ever wasted my life on ordinary pancakes. Because moderation is overrated, I also went for the avocado toast with poached eggs. Those eggs? Perfect. Yolk flow so beautiful it should be set to slow-motion music. It was one of those “don’t eat too fast or you’ll regret not savoring it” situations. And then came the sunny side up eggs with turkey sausage and wheat toast. The sausage was actually juicy and seasoned (not the cardboard diet version), and the toast hit that sweet spot of crispy without being a dental hazard. Even the “basic” items here feel elevated. Service was fast, cheerful, and didn’t even flinch when I basically treated the menu like a challenge. The vibe is welcoming, the food comes out hot, and the portions remind you this is a place that respects breakfast. Bottom line: this isn’t just breakfast — it’s an event. The Dutch Baby is the Beyoncé of pancakes, the poached eggs deserve their own TV show, and the sausage might have ruined me for every other turkey link. If you love breakfast, stop reading reviews and just go already. One thing though. They close at 2pm and they are super busy on weekends. Service is a little slow but worth the wait

Ordered chicken and waffles and it was terrible. Chicken was SUPER hard and OLD. Looked like it was overheated in the microwave. It was so hard that you can't bite it or use a fork BUT have to forcefully tear it apart. When I asked for a new chicken, they gave me only two small pieces which seems like it was heated up in the microwave as well. At least the waffles were good. I've been here a few times but after today, NEVER again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) The Original Pancake House is a must-visit spot for breakfast lovers, offering some of the best pancakes and breakfast dishes you can find. The food here is absolutely 5-star quality, with generous portions, high-quality ingredients, and a menu that caters to all kinds of breakfast cravings. Food – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) The pancakes are hands down the best you’ll find anywhere—fluffy, rich, and full of flavor. Some of the standout items include: Dutch Baby – A giant oven-baked pancake with crispy edges and a soft, custardy center. Served with powdered sugar, lemon, and butter, it’s a unique and must-try dish. Apple Pancake – Almost like a dessert for breakfast! Loaded with caramelized apples and cinnamon, this oversized pancake is indulgent and delicious. Buttermilk Pancakes – Classic and perfectly executed, these pancakes have a light texture and a slightly tangy flavor. Bacon & Eggs – The thick-cut bacon is cooked to perfection, crispy on the edges but meaty in the center. Paired with eggs cooked to order, it’s a simple but satisfying choice. Omelets – Massive, fluffy, and packed with fillings, the omelets here are a meal on their own. The Western and Spinach & Cheese varieties are both excellent. Everything is cooked with quality ingredients, and you can tell the difference compared to typical breakfast chains. Service – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) The service is generally good, but during busy hours, it can be a bit slow. The staff is friendly and accommodating, but you might have to wait for refills or extra condiments. That said, they do their best to keep things moving in a packed restaurant. Atmosphere – ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) This isn’t a fancy, modern brunch spot—it has a more old-school diner feel, which some people love, but others might find a bit outdated. It’s cozy but can get very crowded, and the noise level can be high during peak times. The seating is functional, but don’t expect anything too stylish. Final Thoughts If you're looking for amazing breakfast food and don’t mind a bustling, no-frills atmosphere, the Original Pancake House is worth the visit. The food is absolutely the star here, and while the service and ambiance could be improved, the flavors make up for it. ✅ Must-Try: Dutch Baby, Apple Pancake, Buttermilk Pancakes ⏳ Best Time to Visit: Early morning to avoid long wait times 💲 Worth the Price? Yes – portions are generous and food quality is excellent Would definitely recommend for breakfast or brunch, especially if you're a pancake lover!

If this place wasn’t so far from us, I would come here all the time I was craving to go out and eat for breakfast! Their portions are huge but yet so delicious, and let’s not mention their freshly squeezed orange juice! You can taste it! It was delicious! Their menu is their downfall, it’s a booklet so many options so many things to choose from so many things to want to eat. My husband came hungry so he ordered a lot but I kept telling him the plates are huge and their portions are on the bigger side and he won’t finish it. He didn’t listen haha. So we did have left overs, which is not always a bad thing. I do want to say you probably shouldn’t order a 3 year old from the kids menu, as his plate was just as big. I’ve tried their feed before in the past and never complained it’s always so so delicious I would always recommend this place when you are hungry for breakfast and want everything fresh! For me This place will always beat ihop! Some Mornings is busy other mornings is not but it’s worth it!

We have visited this restaurant multiple times and have always been pleased with the food quality and generous portions. It's our go-to spot for satisfying our cravings for a big breakfast. After reading other reviews, we agree that the food can take some time to be served. In terms of the restaurant itself, it's clean, but the decor could be more memorable.

If you enjoy going to a restaurant where as a customer; you are in charge of cleaning your own table prior to eating. This is the place. The hostess will gladly give you bring you a napkin for you to clean. In addition, since you don't work there, you won't get paid to clean your table. However the hostess will get upset if you refuse to clean your own table. The hostess was aware of the dirty table. She gave me a napkin to clean the table after I informed her. A manager was informed and seated me at a different table. Please take accountability for the lack of professional and good customer service, and do better!

Google
as a celiac with lots of food sensitivities i am very pleased!!! :) our server fatima was absolutely wonderful and i truly appreciate that her and the kitchen had my hashbrowns cooked in oil instead of butter bc of my dairy allergy. the hashbrowns were so yummy and everyone in our group was very happy with their food so thank you!! <3

Google
Every Original Pancake House has a slightly different menu for their specialty. For example this pancake house's crepes include lemon, lingon berries. The one in Savannah Georgia has caramelized Georgia Peaches, etc. Good service 👌. Fresh ingredients (they may run out) generous portions. A large menu of pancakes! This is one of my go to breakfast places.

Yelp
Some people wait 20 minutes for brunch cocktails. I waited 20 minutes for a Dutch Baby -- and honestly, I'd wait 20 years. This puffy, golden, oven-baked masterpiece rose higher than my student loan interest and deflated with more drama than my last relationship. Crispy edges, custardy center, a little powdered sugar on top -- I almost proposed to it right there at the table. Because I live dangerously (and by dangerously, I mean "order like I'm hosting a breakfast summit"), I also grabbed the avocado toast with poached eggs. Those eggs? Runny yolk perfection. Like, "I'd swipe right on you" perfection. They cascaded over the toast in cinematic slow-motion, and yes, I did that thing where you pause to admire the yolk river before diving in. And then came the sunny side up eggs with turkey sausage and wheat toast. The sausage actually tasted like turkey -- juicy, seasoned, not the "sad health food" vibe. Toast was crisp but not weaponized (you know what I mean if you've ever cut the roof of your mouth on a bad piece of bread). Service was friendly, patient, and didn't blink when I basically treated the menu like a bingo card. My only regret? Not wearing stretchy pants. Final verdict: The Original Pancake House isn't just a breakfast spot, it's a spiritual experience. Come for the Dutch Baby, stay because you accidentally order three entrees like me.

Yelp
The pancakes are great. The thing that keeps us coming back - over the 14 years we've lived in the neighborhood: every person who works there, in every role.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect every time. Staff is welcoming. Best oj and bacon around. Can't beat the Dutch baby. Gives a diner vibe with slightly nicer surroundings.
google avatar

Yelp
No cash=supporting the digital beast system. They have a bunch lame excuses posted on their door as to why they no longer except paper currency. I'll just make my own breakfast, while saving $.

Yelp
Delightful breakfast food. Did exactly what I wanted in a breakfast place. Those cherry crepes are amazing.

Yelp
My husband really likes the Original Pancake House, reminds him of home in Wisconsin, so we stop in from time to time so he can get his fix. I really like their pancakes and crepes. Eggs are decent as well. The coffee is okay, I just wish they had more options like lattes or iced coffee. Pricing seems decent. Portions are reasonably large. The lingonberry berry crepes I had today were delicous. My husband had a huge omelet that was also tasty, plus three pancakes. Our server was a nice young gentleman and he checked on us quite frequently even though it was busy. He kept our coffee mugs full, which was all we really needed. Ambiance is typical diner and not to loud. We had a great visit. Thanks again!

Yelp
If you're craving breakfast food and really don't want to make it yourself, this is a great choice! I had the strawberry pancakes (yum) and my husband had the apple pancake which was massive. He loved it, but note that the regular size is massive. The OG Pancake house gets busy so be sure to call ahead!

Ashlee B.

Yelp
Service was very slow the original pancakes where disgusting and hash browns where too oily. The coffee was also burnt and watered down

Yelp
We used to come here all the time and it was great! But now it's downhill - smells of RAT PEE - until this problem is fixed WE WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place gives off vibes like a hotel breakfast place. The service was not bad although as for a breakfast place would rather have fresh cream than the little packets. I got the avocado toast with crab and it was solid but the avocado did not taste that great. The hashbrowns were ok. I do not think the place is terrible and it is on the cheaper side, but there are better breakfast places and I probably would not go back.
google avatar

Nikki V.

Yelp
Never again...we had to run out of here as we spotted a baby RAT crawling around the top area. The ceiling tiles are all spotted with brown stains from water damage. The roof area has missing tiles Disgusting!!!!......We were the customers who informed you of the rat crawling on the huge fixture below the ceiling. We also, saw you knock it down while customers were in the restaurant eating!!!!

Yelp
I will say that the Original Pancake House has the best bacon and hash browns around. So yes, we do like to occasionally come here for breakfast. I'm hoping that this was just a one-off experience, but yesterday we had pancakes and these plain pancakes were, well, not good. The pancake texture was fine, but the flavor was like the smell of beer wort, as if something had fermented in the batter. We ate them, but are hesitant about ordering them again. The manager is friendly and makes a point of thanking you when you are leaving and I like that. But some of the kids working there have this kind of too-cool-for-school attitude and are absolutely indifferent about providing service.

Yelp
Been awhile since we went. It was tears ago. Im looking forward to going again now that we've moved back.

Brynn W.

Yelp
The food was very good, my Mom got a spinach crape and I had eggs Benedict, the service was quick, and the ambiance was about like I expected from a Diner. It was very clean, no dirt on the floor. The parking lot was just a nightmare to find a space, but regardless, we had a good experience.
google avatar

MC C.

Yelp
It's been a while. Still not crazy about their eggs if not it would be a 5. Waffle works with an upgrade to add strawberries. . . Best waffles around imo. Light and fluffy. Service is consistent and they are attentive.

Mark V.

Yelp
Visited this location today passing through and there were mice running around. The ceiling is a mess with tiles missing and stained. I would stay away from this location. Heath inspection is needed.

Yelp
Heavyset caucasion waitress service was terrible I asked can I swap my pancakes for French toast I don't mind paying extra was told no ok no problem but pancakes were dry syrup was watered down my companions western omelette had very little cheese and humongous chunks of tomato onions and green peppers. Found something in my orange juice and the waitress and manager says well it's fresh squeezed so probably from the orange. Please don't waste your time or money at this place I truly wish I could give it negative stars.

Yelp
Looking for a good bite before heading out of town and stumbled upon this pancake house. Menu sounded great with pancakes and crepes! Unfortunately I didn't get to try the crepes, I got the Eggs Benny instead. Great flavor, full plate, and crispy hash browns. A lot of the menu items did repeat itself, but I manage to find the right dish. My husband had the steak and eggs, of course I had to have a bite. Seasoned and cooked perfectly! Home fries for him were so tasty! Sunday brunch was getting crowded as we came early. Still had to wait a bit to get seated. Wait staff manage to move quickly between customers!

Yelp
Still as good as I remembered back when it was in falls church city and I was a kid. Their beacon is so good. It can b pricey but well worth it in my opinion

Yelp
Love coming to OPH! It feels like an underrated breakfast chain but growing up I always loved coming here. I was so happy to see there are a couple locations in the DMV! They have some of the best chocolate chip pancakes and hands down the best whipped cream I've ever had. I recommend getting their hot chocolate with whipped cream, it's seriously amazing. The hash browns on the side complete the perfect comfort food breakfast. Service at this location was great. We came Saturday morning and were seated right away. Our waiter was really friendly and our food arrived quickly. It's a popular spot but the service is still great and the food was even better!

Antonio A.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I went there expecting an old, honest, down-to-earth place. I ordered bacon and pancakes and was given a card to download an app called "Cheer City" to pay my tab. When my order arrived, the server was nice enough. The eggs were incredible--but not in a good way. They looked like quail eggs, barely the size of a quarter, accompanied by four pieces of Canadian bacon--the kind you can find at Costco. And that was it. The plate looked almost comically large compared to the tiny eggs. The coffee was decent, the pancakes were average--nothing special. The place itself was old but had no particular charm, just clean Formica tables. "Old and gold?" Not really. The final straw came when I tried to pay using the app. My tab was over $25, with a hefty tip already included, and I couldn't change it. At that point, I just cut my losses and left, feeling like I had paid way too much for a lackluster breakfast. Definitely not a good value.

Jeannie S.

Yelp
I ordered a breakfast sandwich. Bacon, egg, and cheese. Easy peas! Eegads! It was awful! The bread was stale, the bacon had probably been cooked twice because it was, well done! It was hard to even bite through the bacon
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing pancakes!! The service is quick. If you go, ask to try the tropical syrup! Ambiance is light!
google avatar

Yelp
The food here was great! Everything was fresh and delicious. I had the strawberry crepes and I highly recommend those! The ambiance is very much down south diner vibes but it's clean and comfortable. Jackie was such a great server and took care of all of our needs!

Yelp
One of my DC friends decided to take me around the city on a casual Friday morning in late January 2023 and our first stop is breakfast here. We arrived here around 9am after a brief drive from the Sonesta Select Arlington Rosslyn hotel, where I was staying. The Original Pancake House in Falls Church Virginia is a quaint little restaurant that seems to be the popular perfect place to eat at, since I've been to the one in Honolulu, HI, but probably not associated with the chain. Or maybe it is. With that said, the restaurant wasn't busy at all when my friend and I arrived. The restaurant itself was quite large and was spaced out considerably for social distancing. We were seated immediately and got the table closest to the entrance so we could see outside. My experience here at the Original Pancake House was about an hour or so, give or take. My friend raved about their Dutch baby, which is a pastry made with eggs. I was okay okay. Didn't know what it was but we ordered it anyway for breakfast, while I did my own deal. I love breakfast food items, so it was a treat for me to come here. I got the NY steak and eggs, which came with pancakes. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash, since I liked that too. I ended up grabbing the check, since my friend was chauffeuring me around that morning and it was the right thing to do. The Dutch baby was pretty good too, as with the other items that I ordered that morning. The steak was good and delicious. Enjoyed the corned beef hash as well. Maybe I should have made a sandwich with the pancakes. Oh well. Next time, I guess. The overall experience here at this Original Pancake House in Falls Church, Virginia was pretty good and casual. It's off the main roads and definitely in the suburbs of Washington DC. The service was friendly and attentive. They advised us that if we ordered the Dutch baby, it does take a long time. For the most part though, it was a nice experience here, especially because it was better than eating at a restaurant within a hotel. The ambiance and the company surely made things better of course! The steak was medium rare and the eggs were scrambled. I never thought of to order NY steak with bleeding yolks on them. Maybe I should try next time, if my future travels permit me to do so. And yes, quite the uneventful experience that combined breakfast with a friend that allowed me to explore a bit of Falls Church, Virginia coming to this restaurant on a random Friday in a January. I assumed the region would be a-washed in snow and ice, but I was wrong. If you are in the area and love breakfast foods, consider coming here and you'd be pleasantly surprised. The Dutch baby is pretty neat too. It's a pastry that you can have at breakfast time made with eggs. It was good but prefer my steak and eggs. The pancakes were nice too. Recommended if you get here early enough to get your spot to avoid the morning rush hour. This Original Pancake House location in Falls Church, Virginia is located at 7395 Lee Highway in Falls Church. I forgot to check in on the Yelp app for this business that morning, probably just too excited in checking out the breakfast fare there. Or just trying to acclimate to the US eastern time zone from Hawaii standard time. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. As far as parking goes, they have a limited but generous parking for those who are visiting and interested in the restaurant and associated business next to this commercial cul-de-sac. If you are fond of public transportation, consider which routes that the local Falls Church system has as well as the greater Washington DC metro and surrounding communities to get you here. There is always Uber and Lyft at your disposal. My friend raved about this place on the way here that morning. She wasn't wrong. She said it was better than IHOP. She ain't wrong either. The Original Pancake House is a restaurant chain with multiple locations, which makes sense. I assumed it was a stand alone hidden gem within the falls church community. Oops. Regardless of that, breakfast or brunch is as good as it can be here. Definitely pin this one if you're in the area or just passing thru. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.5 stars for the food and service. 4.0 stars for the ambiance. Thanks for the table next the entrance for social distancing. 3.0 stars for the prices. Support local! B

Yelp
Good food, but slow kitchen and laughably inaccurate pickup estimates. This is one of those times where I wish Yelp would let you break the star ratings down into multiple categories. Once you get your food from Original Pancake House, it's very good - some of my favorite breakfast dishes in the area. The omelettes are huge, the pancakes are moist, and they're one of the handful of casual restaurants with Belgian waffles on the menu. The problem comes with the "once you get your food" part. My experience there is mostly with takeout orders, and it is not unusual to wait 15+ minutes past the estimate you're given for your food to actually come out of the kitchen. Worse yet, there's a 50/50 chance the food will be lukewarm when it arrives, which tells me it sat for a while after preparation before someone bagged it and brought it out. On a recent visit, I waited 40 minutes (20 minutes over the given pickup time) for a bagel w/ lox & cream cheese. FORTY minutes for a bagel. Look, I know the place is busy. It's a breakfast place, it's breakfast time, the kitchen is going to get slammed. That's understandable, but there's no reason they can't provide more realistic times for pickup so the lobby doesn't fill with customers who have been sitting around for 10, 15, 20 minutes because they were told their food would be ready but isn't or, even worse, IS ready but is just sitting on a counter in the back, getting cold, because no one is working to actually bring it out for you to eat. All that being said, I keep going back and subjecting myself to the waiting game because the food really is that good.

Steve E.

Yelp
Solid overall. Gets very loud since there's nothing but hard surfaces. Food is solid though. Get the apple pancake

Yelp
I can still taste the bacon on my lips as I write this, having just left what was an excellent Sunday brunch. As a connoisseur of breakfast food, I am very particular about crispy bacon, smooth hollaindaise, and perfectly cooked eggs. This place checked every box. Whoever is making eggs back there KNOWS THEIR EGGS. Perfectly poached eggs on the benny and perfect, oozing over-medium fried eggs with our pancakes which were griddled to perfection. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The space is clean and well maintained. As far as ambiance, it is your typical fast casual diner vibe. If you are craving some good uncomplicated, delicious breakfast fare in the Falls Church area, this is your place.

Eleni H.

Yelp
My Family and I are regulars here. The food is amazing and the servers are exceptional. The managers are also attentive to all customers requests. This is the best place ever. I have given one star today because the "hostess" who is not exceptional for the second time has seated us next to a family that has a baby carrier with a baby in it on the the shared cushioned booth who I need to be careful not to knock into while I eat She did this on a previous visit at that time I asked for another table. She looked around and said ' where do you want to sit". She is usually very sullen when we see her. Today we are staying where she put us. The family next to us are very nice and children are well-mannered however, customers should have some room to sit comfortably and this little baby could be injured if an elbow goes the wrong way. This young lady needs some training.

Yelp
I called ahead because I wanted to see how long it would be to get into this restaurant. I've been here in the past and waited over an hour for a table. This is very popular, especially mid-to-late morning on a Saturday or Sunday. This pancake house has food for those who need to eat gluten-free. They have gluten-free pancakes and gluten-free waffles. I do not need to eat gluten free so I didn't opt for this. I've been here many times in the past and have had their specialties including the Dutch baby and the apple pancakes. Both are excellent but that's not really what I felt like today. I wanted a combination of different breakfast foods, So I ordered eggs over easy, crispy bacon, hash browns, and pancakes and asked if they could sprinkle some chocolate chips into them. I ordered orange juice and my friend a diet Coke. We had our drinks within a few minutes and not 10 minutes later our breakfast was served. She got the same as I did but without the chocolate chips. The food was outstanding. I've never had a bad meal here. And it's a place that I will choose to come to even if I have to wait. I didn't realize they had a call ahead so that's what I did when I was leaving Washington DC and knew that I had about a 20 minute drive to get to the restaurant. It was great when I got there though. Very surprising that there was no line and nobody was waiting. I was taken and seated right away and I remarked to my friend that I was surprised that there were tables available and no wait. The restaurant is fairly large, but it generally isn't very loud even when it's packed full of people and even when there are a lot of kids. It's a restaurant that is only open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the weekends, and 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the week. I can't say enough about this restaurant and I highly recommend you check it out if you're looking for outstanding breakfast and brunch food.

Yelp
IHop oriented, but better...in some ways. The food here is good and so are the prices. Only the coffee wasn't good; it was watery and not strong. They need to change it. The service was okay, but it depends who you get and what time you go. The wait-time is crazy (after 10am, so go before then). The ambiance is average. The first 2/3 of the place is decent but the overflow area(s) at the back needs work (better decor and ambiance). Overall, this place is decent, but it could use a revamp and branding (not to mention better coffee). On

Yelp
We should have known as soon as we entered. The two hostesses were too busy with their phones to acknowledge us. When we got seated, we waited way too long before a server came to greet us and take our order. The food was hot...but unremarkable. The apple pancake special is more like an apple cake---it's huge and heavy and like 3 inches deep---but soggy and strange on the inside. We took it to go; maybe we can bake it up more at home? It's too expensive to just leave behind. We'd hoped this would be a great breakfast spot, but we'll have to keep looking I guess.

Yelp
My daughters and my mom and I just got back from brunch here, and we really enjoyed it! Priced fairly, and the food was excellent. You can tell they use quality ingredients. Food came out fast. We'll go back for sure.

Yelp
I love this diner. Honestly, I'd consider it one of my favorite spots to go for diner food. See my ratings breakdown below: Ambiance: 4/5 - standard diner, nothing extraordinary about the decor, but it does have a homey feel when you enter. Price: 5/5 The price of the food with the portion sizes they give are spot on. The pancake order comes with 5 solid sized pancakes and the oatmeal was a large bowl (bigger than the picture shows). Food: 5/5 - the pancakes and waffles here are perfect. They always come out fluffy and are even good after you reheat them as leftovers. I tried the oatmeal for the first time and with the brown sugar they give on top it's definitely a hit for me. The portions are huge and a really good meal for one or two people! Service: 5/5 - staff here is always friendly, timely service, and helpful. No complaints at all. Overall, great diner spot and highly recommend if you're in the mood for light and fluffy pancakes.

Yelp
The Original Pancake House  was founded in 1953 in Portland, Oregon by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke. It is a second and third generation family business. There are currently 128 locations in the USA. Many of the stores are gluten friendly. That includes all of the locations in Maryland and this one. There are no locations in DC. My wife and I had eaten at the Rockville location, and we loved the food, but the service was slow. We found this restaurant while we were in the area, so we decided to get some carryout. We got the Chicken Crepe and the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich.    The Chicken Crepe had diced grilled chicken, green peppers, mushrooms, and pimentos mixed in a sherry wine sauce that was wrapped in a crepe and topped with sliced almonds and black olives. It was served with 4 lacy potato pancakes, sour cream, and cinnamon applesauce. The small potato pancakes had lots of well-cooked grated potato bits mixed into it. The flavor was basically potato and pancake batter that was nicely fried. The sour cream was typical, and the applesauce was sweetened with lots of cinnamon. The chicken crepe had a flavorful filling of chicken and vegetables in a wine sauce that was nutty and slightly sweet with a hint of salt. The crepe was soft, moist, and slightly stretchy. The flavor was like a pancake with no sweetness. Overall, this dish was well-balanced, well-rounded, and flavorful.    The Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich had a choice of cheese, bread, and egg cooking method. The bread choices were English muffin, croissant, bagel, white bread, or Texas toast. The cheese choices were provolone, cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss. We picked cheddar cheese, bagel, and scrambled eggs. There were 2 layers of savory fried bacon. The bacon was crispy, thick-cut, and slightly salty. That was fine because the eggs needed some salt. The eggs were fluffy and plentiful. The cheese was a mild cheddar that had somehow slid most of the way off the bagel. Most of it was melted on the side and bottom of the bagel. A little more care in sandwich construction would be appreciated!  The bagel was soft and slightly chewy with a little sweetness. Overall, this sandwich was very good tasting and quite filling.    I used Grubhub to order the food. I got a message that the food was ready when we arrived at their parking lot. When I went in to get it, I was told that only the sandwich was done. So, I took photos while I waited. The dining room looked clean. The service was friendly and quick. The menu has many interesting items like Swedish pancakes, Hawaiian pancakes, Cherry Kijafa crepes, Tahitian Maiden's Dream, Mandarin crepes, etc. If you're looking for a good breakfast diner, then give this place a try!

Yelp
Came here for Sunday brunch and it was a pretty decent choice! Ordered the huevos rancheros and the Swedish Lingonberry pancakes. The huevos rancheros was really good if you're craving savory and want a lot of different ingredients. All of them went well together - the avocado, fluffy scrambled eggs, the pico de gallo, beans, crispy tostada shells! was so filling! I did like their special mole sauce too. It was surprisingly sweeter than I expected. The Swedish pancakes were basically like a mix of pancakes and crepes- really flat pancakes to the point where it was a crepe.... but not exactly? They were quite addicting and I kept taking more bites off my boyfriend's plate. Great service overall. They had distanced people pretty well indoors but was still poppin' so it's a testament to its popularity!

Yelp
I don't know why I love eating here so much!!! The pancakes are a tiny bit bitter off so I always make myself sick by ordering too many sweet toppings but bacon (turkey and pork) is solid, and it's nice how almost every entree comes with a side. Servers are quite friendly. I usually come for breakfast with my mom, and when I was in high school it was a nice respite from my school week because it was a bit of a drive. Hearty meal and yummy, engaging pancake dishes. I look forward to coming here. It's cool how you present the signed check to the desk at the front and pay there.

Yelp
I've been going to the pancake house for a while now they had always been consistent in service and food* Recently, I was terribly disappointed on the time it took for me to get my meal and then when I got it, it was a very cold. The servers didn't check on me. They didn't refill my coffee. I had cold food and shared my husbands drink. I did notice that the regular staff was not there and hoping they were enjoying their day off and that they're not gone forever.

Yelp
Haven't been here for 6 years the quality of food is still consistent, come here once they open at 7am on weekends so you that have to wait that long. I'm not here for the aged ambiance.

Yelp
This is our go-to breakfast place. The baked omelettes are worth the wait. They come with shredded hashed browns or pancakes, both are totally yum. We usually get an omelette with whichever fillings we're feeling like at the moment, hash browns, an extra order of hash browns, and some kind of specialty treat like their cherry crepes or lingonberry pancakes and share it all. We leave stuffed and oh so happy! Since we can't dine-in during the pandemic we've ordered to-go. No problems there. Even though we live 15-20 minutes away when we get home the food is hot and still as delicious.

Yelp
Terrible food! My parents and I ate there earlier today, Tuesday, 5/21/24 for lunch. My Father ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a sub roll with fries. The sandwich for starters was not on a sub but a French roll instead. It came with bacon. The bacon was ice cold and hard as a rock. The fries were not done. I ordered scrambled eggs with corn beef hash. The corn beef hash was crisp on the outside and raw on the inside and beyond very salty. Both meals were absolutely horrible. My Fathers 88th birthday is tomorrow. He and Mom drove up from the Winchester, VA area to put flowers on his son, my brother's grave across the street, hoping to enjoy a quick lunch before they headed back home since we could not be together tomorrow. The server brought out fresh bacon to my Father, by then his sandwich was picked apart when he noticed even the tomatoes were green and not ripe in the middle. Much to our surprise my Father was charged for this nasty sandwich. You got us once, but will not get us again. We will never ever eat at this place again.

Yelp
Always great portions and friendly service. This restaurant has become my favorite soul food destination! The food there is absolutely delicious. While I haven't tried everything they offer, what l have ordered has never been disappointing. The portions are generous also. Wait staff are friendly. I inteno on becoming a regular, despite the fact that I have to travel from Northern VA.

Yelp
While the 4 of us we're seated quickly it took a while for our orders to be taken. Our waiter advised us that the Dutch baby pancake would take 30 min which we said was fine since we all ordered additional food. However, after waiting at least 29 min the Dutch baby was served before any of our other items. It is supposed to be served with powdered sugar and lemons. There were no lemons and very little powdered sugar. It took way to long to get the missing lemons. The remainder of our order came out piecemeal with my son in laws waffle being the last item served. My husband and I ordered eggs over medium but received hard eggs. We had to send back our first cups of coffee because the were so weak. All and all it was an extremely slow and disappointing breakfast. I will not be returning.

Yelp
The waitress was very nice taking our order, but sadly wait time for our food is truly ridiculous. We waited over 40 min for our food. Not worth it.

Yelp
We ordered Buckwheat pancakes, corned beef hash, 49er flapjacks, over easy eggs, and sausage. Everything was delicious but the 49er flapjacks was not the ones I remember. I told our waiter, Wilber, and he exchanged them for no extra cost! This place is always busy but we only waited for about 15 minutes and got a booth! The only downside I can think of is the coffee tasted a little "burnt." But that's such a small thing I won't decrease my review!

Yelp
I was really in the mood for an indulgent breakfast and, unfortunately, The Original Pancake House fell short in fulfilling this wish.  It's not that the food wasn't fine, it was just more basic than expected.  For example, a Nutella, banana, pecan waffle sounds pretty good!  However, when, instead of being stuffed with any of the above or really smothered in tasty morsels, it was a pretty plain waffle with a sprinkling of banana slices and thin strings of Nutella on top.  Womp womp!  The regular pecan pancakes were the same.  The bacon was a little odd.  I'm not sure it was real bacon or pressed meat product.  The star of the menu for us was the apple pancake. Now we know why they call it a special.  It was very flavorful and doused in the best possible way with apples and cinnamon.  Beware - it is huge and rich so a lot for one person, but, perfect for sharing.  The service was good and the tables were spaced far enough apart to feel protected.  I only wish the other selections had been as special as the one special proved to be.
