Yelp
I don't often write updates for my reviews as, to be honest, I'm often trying new spots instead of re-visiting old ones. Back when Rinaldi's first came to Century Blvd. there was, as anyone who works in the area will tell you, widespread euphoria given the painful lack of lunch options nearby. Here was a deli, with amazing staff and a broad menu, who could dish up a good sandwich. Maybe caught up in this euphoria I slapped five stars on my review immediately after an amazing set of experiences with Rinaldi's Godfather and Air Force Lou sandwiches. Fast forward two years now and I've probably been to Rinaldi's ten times. This is still a great sandwich spot, but it doesn't quite compete in my mind with the powerhouse players on the Westside like Bay Cities.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
I will say that the spectacular service at Rinaldi's has very much not worn off over time. These folks are great, and while you should now be ordering online well ahead instead of taking your time to wait in line while trying to strike up some conversation, the folks behind the counter really are amazing and will do whatever is needed to cater to custom wishes. Star.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
The prices at Rinaldi's are also still reasonable. Just shy of $11.00 isn't crazy for a large sandwich, and Rinaldi's large sandwiches run legitimately large - often enough to feed two. Star.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
It's here that maybe things have declined just ever so slightly over the years at Rinaldi's. My early sandwiches at Rinaldi's were, plain and simple, works of art. You could tell there was meticulous attention paid to how the sandwich was assembled, nothing was ever missing, and it just felt like some serious time had been put into each one.
Be it a product of the long lines or crowds or what have you, my last several sandwiches have seemingly been hastily assembled, some have missed ingredients, and in all they're mirrored what I can find at any old deli. It's not the end of the world, but it's been memorable. Single Star.
Star 5: Would you be excited to go back?
I'm teetering on this one, but for now I admittedly still get excited about a lunch visit to Rinaldi's largely thanks to their customer service and their broad menu. Star.
