The Orion Amphitheatre is quite a bit away from being the world class venue that it touts itself as unfortunately. While the acoustics, food and atmosphere are great, the seating and comfort of the venue leaves a LOT to be desired. If you're going here, bring your own seat backs, the ones you can rent are supremely uncomfortable. If you go without one, prepare to perish while you sit on the hardest surface known to man in a space that's about enough size for a small child to sit in. Serious changes are needed to truly make this a word class location. Building an amphitheatre is great, but we don't need to be as uncomfortable as the Romans were in theirs.

Went came to the venue for the first time the other day to see Weird Al! It was great!!! Easy to access, ample parking, lots to do around before and after. Once inside, it was very easy to navigate and there wasn't a bad seat! Definitely would consider coming back for the right show!!!

This place is an architectural marvel! It's like a Roman Coliseum, and worth visiting even if no one is playing. Their food isn't your everyday concert food, and a huge step above most restaurants. Their drink selection is amazing too! Highly highly recommend the Orion Amphitheatre!!!

Google
Caught the Avett Brothers at Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville—totally awesome. Seats are super spacious and every spot has a good view, but from way back it was hard to see details since they didn’t use the big screens to project the band. Sound was crystal clear. Concession lines moved fast, parking was a breeze, and the crowd was chill. Can’t wait to go back.

I love this amphitheatre. There isn't a bad seat here. The sound quality is always great. I've been here a few times and had an enjoyable experience every time. Very large beer and drink options. Of course they are pretty expensive but that's really what anyone should expect at a amphitheatre. (Unfortunately) The local food trucks being the food options is also very cool. Always a big selection. I'm excited to see such quality shows coming to Huntsville.

Google
This was probably the most comfortable and relaxed concert venue I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to plenty. I loved how open it is, and the outside area with all of the food trucks and seating is a wonderful addition. The parking situation was great and it wasn’t terribly bad getting out. Security was very easygoing, doing their jobs of course, but it was not nearly as nerve wracking as other experiences I’ve had. The staff was exceptionally kind. We were originally seated almost as far back as you could get and the employee standing behind my section upgraded my mom, my fiancée and I all to the pit! Overall, even outside of the amazing performance, it was probably the best concert going experience I’ve had. 10/10 recommend!

Google
Really great place to go for an event. A lot smaller than I anticipated however that is good to make it seem more like a venue than a concert hall. Saw Mumford live and it was quite awesome. Staff were really nice and accommodating.

Google
We have seen 3 shows here. The first two times were on the floor. This time, we were sitting in the top section in front of the stage. The sound was fabulous! Concessions and bathrooms were available behind us at the top. No need to walk far. For the upper sections I recommend getting a stadium seat with a back, unless you like sitting on a wooden bench. Since this is an outdoor facility, it was hot. I recommend an addition to the concession stands, however, and that is some kind of hydration drinks for hot summer shows. They have hot drinks in cooler weather, now they need proper drinks for hot weather. They do have water refill stations and large cups of water for sale in reusable cups, but when the heat index is above 100, you need electrolytes replenished.

Yelp
first time at the new amphitheater in Huntsville! Came for a concert a few nights ago and it was beautiful! Lots of food options and seating, and really appreciated the water bottle filling stations.

Yelp
Attentive staff, great bartenders, and elevators! to the upper areas make this an ideal addition to Midcity Huntsville. Go see a show, you won't be disappointed (for us, it was the Avett Brothers)!

Yelp
The Orion Amphitheater is a beautiful venue and a definite asset to Huntsville, Alabama. I've attended two events there, and unfortunately, both times I encountered ticketing issues. The venue uses AXS for ticketing, and while the app technically "works," it has never worked properly for me. That alone made entry more frustrating than necessary. My bigger concern, however, is the lack of logistical coordination. For the Kevin Hart show on April 11, 2025, attendees were sent detailed instructions outlining what could and couldn't be brought into the venue. It clearly stated that photos and video were prohibited, but small cameras (those that could fit in a front pocket) were allowed. Despite following these guidelines, we stood in line for over an hour only to be told that our phones had to be sealed in pouches. While the requirement itself wasn't the issue, the execution was a logistical mess. Here's what the process looked like: 1. Initial checkpoint - Someone glances at your personal items: water bottles, handbags, seats, etc. 2. Phone pouch distribution - There were no clear lines or direction. One table had three staff members simply standing there with bags in front of them, appearing unsure of what to do. 3. Alcohol wristband checkpoint - Again, no structured lines. Another bottleneck. 4. Final security check - Your items are re-checked and you're wanded by security. 5. The space between Gate #1 and the end of this entire process is less than 100 feet - resulting in gridlock, confusion, and chaos. Given the price of the tickets and the additional "convenience" fees, the lack of operational planning was disappointing. We ended up leaving before the show ended. It was cold, and after the chaotic entry process, we weren't interested in repeating that experience on the way out. At the exits, around eight people were assigned to unlock the phone pouches, which might work for a nearly sold-out show -- but only barely. Lastly, for a venue charging premium prices, I was surprised by the lack of comfort features. Other outdoor venues in hot climates offer misters. The Orion has no heaters for chilly nights, and no misters for sweltering ones. So, be warned -- if it's cold, you'll be cold. If it's hot, you'll be hot. There's no in-between.

Yelp
Wonderful open air venue with great acoustics and atmosphere. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff. They bend over backwards to help in any way that they can and are super engaged. This is a special place for live music and should be on your very short list of places to see an artist perform. Bravo Orion!

Yelp
The Orion Amphitheater is an absolutely stunning venue! The clear night sky, free of light pollution creates an amazing atmosphere for any event. There's ample parking, which makes arriving and leaving hassle-free. After the show, they even had late-night food vendors open until 2am--I'm not sure if that's always the case or just for the Tipper event, but it was a great bonus. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and my favorite part is the venue's commitment to sustainability. They offer recyclable plastic cups and free water stations throughout the venue. It's little touches like these that make the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for any concert. There are ample bathrooms that are well kept and clean on each floor as well. Make sure to bring a cushion, poncho, and reusable water bottle to enjoy your time best at the Orion!

Yelp
I recently went to a concert at the Orion Amphitheater. It's a beautiful concert venue. It reminds me of Cesar's Palace. It was very clean and there are no bad seats in the venue. The venue does offer some decent food and drinks, but we really lucked up by going to the food trucks! Whichever business sells the chicken tenders and fries, I definitely would recommend them (sorry forgot their name). The food was cooked to order, was fresh and seasoned very well. Back to the Amphitheater-- One thing I didn't like about the venue is it doesn't have individual seats unless you sit on the floor. Most amphitheaters I go to, have actual seats. You can bring your own stadium seats however and/or you can rent some for an extra fee. Also I noticed their signage inside the stadium is lacking. I wish they would do a better job with putting more signage on the different sections throughout the venue. Lastly, I think the concerts have to end at a certain time due to a possible noice ordinance. This is just a guess, but this was the 2nd time an artist had to abruptly end their show, which seemed unfair to us concert goers. Other than that, I may check out other non-concert events the Orion hosts and see how those events go.

Yelp
This is a great venue short of two things 1. Need industrial fans on the floor to move the air, it's very uncomfortable in the dead of summer 2. Needs large video screens on each side of the stage, just like they have in Nashville and Birmingham. I am shocked with this venue being so new that that wasn't included in the original design element.

Yelp
What a blast! The Goblin Car Competition was such a fun event for the whole family. Watching all the kids race their cars and show off incredible teamwork was inspiring and so entertaining. My son had an amazing time cheering on the racers and soaking up the excitement--we're already looking forward to the next one! Events like this are such a great way to bring the community together. Highly recommend checking it out if you get the chance!

Yelp
We saw Slash's SERPANT Fest here. It was amazing. Great acoustics, nice people, really clean. We felt safe. Good selection of beer, wine, liquor, and mixed drinks as well as a good mix of food options. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. All the stalls had doors and worked properly. However, the concession prices are a little outrageous.

Yelp
First time at this venue. Not really a bad seat in the amphitheater. Even though there are a thing or two..maybe 3, I personally, didn't like. But overall, seeing Styx & Foreigner in an outdoor concert, everybody singing alongreminiscing...couldn't get much better! I believe most newly built venues have the bench seating. I would prefer my "own" seat so I can lean back and relax. (Ruff on a person getting up in age..lol) Especially with a +3 hour show. This is just the design of the venue(and me being too picky but it is a review) but I'll know next time for my preference. Prefer seats not on the right side. Again, not bad seats. Just a humongous speaker/light/may be air‍hanging down.(couldn't see Tommy Shaw go up the steps & preform) You can see in the pics/video I post. Last thing..drinks..pricey..& tasted bad. Even though I reluctantly drinked mine. (Headknocker-1st & last time) girlfriends had margaritas. Neither one drinked theirs. I paid almost $18!! I'll post the cup. You will definitely get a laff. I thought it was a souvenir cup. Well, it was for me. I brought mine home! lol. Foreigner was AWESOME!!! FYI-don't let anyone tell you the Orion is within walking distance. You will be calling a Uber!

Yelp
Went to the John Legend concert and had a great time. The staff filtering us in by security, tickets checks, and over 21 were professional and made sure to not bottle neck the crowd. The food vendors diverse and the food we ate (Philly cheese steak, chicken quesadilla and fries) was really good. The vibes of the facility was pretty dope based off the light displays and the sound of the performance. Overall, I would go back

Yelp
This is a nice venue! Plenty of parking. Plenty of food and beverage choices including food trucks all corralled up inside the entrance. Clean restrooms and friendly staff. Great acoustics. Plus no clear bag requirements for ladies. Bring your nice bag up in here! Glad we have Orion!

Yelp
Great outdoor music venue! Overall I don't think there is a bad seat in the stadium. There are some areas that have more comfortable seats that have a back, but mostly it wooden benches. I saw some people bring stadium seats with them which looked like a good idea. There were several food trucks outside, the food smelled delicious - next time I plan to come hungry and have dinner there! The drinks are pricey, cocktails around $15 and draft beers (24 oz) also around that price. There are plenty of clean bathroom options, I haven't noticed any lines forming. We parked closer to the Dave and busters, it's about a 5 minute walk, but stress free. I'm sure you can find parking closer to as well though. Overall I absolutely loved this venue and will definitely be coming back for more shows!

Yelp
I loved the new amphitheater. I took a friends advice and got prepaid parking for $10. We had no issues. They had lots of food trucks and bars when we arrived. They had a seltzer bar on the 2nd floor for people into that. No seat is a bad seat to be honest. Sound was good and very loud! Getting out was hectic, but that's to be expected. I can't wait for the next event I go to here.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of coming here for the Josh Groban concert last night. What a beautiful amphitheater. It reminds me of the Coliseum in Italy. The staff are very friendly and helpful getting us to our seating area. I would highly recommend bringing your own seating pad and a fan. The weather was actually nice due to the rain that was heading to us. Prepay for parking for $10 before noon of the event or $15 when you get there. Throughout the amphitheater they only accept credit cards for parking in for food and drinks. There are a few picnic tables outside before you head in to enjoy your food purchase.

Yelp
I really want to be able to give the Orion Amphitheater a five star rating - I really do, but there were so many problems that it's just not warranted at this point. We were so excited to attend opening weekend - a three day, multi-talent event called The First Waltz. Before we went, I checked the Orion website for venue information. It was very detailed - what you could and couldn't bring (it's a long list), parking information, a list of available refreshments and other pertinent information. Getting to the Orion was pretty easy. We went via Research Drive (there is also an entrance off Research Park Blvd northbound). There was ample parking within an easy walk to the gates. Parking was $15, a little steep for Huntsville, but if you don't mind a little bit of a walk, you can park in the main Mid-City lot for free. The first people you encounter at the gate seem to be looking for "contraband" - coolers, chairs and the ubiquitous disposable water bottle. You are welcome to bring in an empty REUSABLE bottle - even if you intend to refill a disposable bottle, it's still prohibited. Then, it's through security, bag check and a stop to get an armband if you intend to imbibe. The Orion website said there would be a rotating array of food trucks available - the first night there were several and the lines were enormous. We went down to the trucks during the break between performers and had we decided to eat, we would have missed the next group. I'm glad we ate before we arrived. There were even fewer trucks the next two days. The only food that I saw inside the venue was popcorn that was bagged and behind the bars. No idea how long that had been sitting there. Speaking of bars, there are 14 in the venue. That's right, 14 bars and no food - I'm not sure if they intended this to be a drink-fest but it sure could be if you could afford the beverages - $6 for a PBR, $12 for a rum and Coke - after paying for tickets, I couldn't afford to get tipsy! With the exception of the floor, seating was on harwooden benches. Definitely bring a seat cushion, or better yet, a stadium seat with a back. The seats are identified with a number sticker except some of the numbers have already come off. This is definitely going to be a problem. The wooden benches are attractive but my husband ended up with a bunch of splinters as he tried to brush off his seat. We were in the upper deck - every seat has a view of the stage but we were still pretty far and a big screen sure would have been nice. The acoustics were terrible, it was hard to make out a lot of the vocals. I hope this is just growing pains but it was very disappointing. The bathrooms were another oddity. There were four individual bathrooms on the upper deck - a huge bar and four unisex rooms, none had trash cans either. There were several larger bathrooms on the other levels. The woman's room had plenty of stalls, my husband had to wait in line for a change, but there were only a couple of sinks so those of us who chose to wash our hands had to wait in line. Finally, there are no disposable cups used in the venue. There are bins placed around the facility for you to deposit your cup when empty. I'm sure they were also full of trash as they looked just like trash cans. The cups are supposed to be washed and reused. Neat idea but I'm not sure how I feel about a reusable cup with Covid still around. There are a lot of concerts at the Orion this summer that I'd like to see and I hope to be back. I also hope that the Orion is just having growing pains and that I can give it the 5 stars that it has potential to reach!

Yelp
We were really excited to visit the Orion Amphitheater for the first time. Upon parking it looked beautiful. It wasn't busy at all. Staff was helpful with parking and picking up our tickets at the gate. Unfortunately that's we met Barnie Fife at the gate. He immediately barked at us "Can't bring that in!!" (Referring to an open bag we had brought with a few belongings inside. *It had already been searched at the first entrance by a friendly employee. * We asked if he was sure because we had measured it in advance to make sure it fit the Orions webpage specifications for what you could/couldn't bring inside. That's when he informed us "AND it also says we can change the rules at ANY time!!" Wow. Ok, Barnie Fife is really bored tonight and wants some action. We walk our little bag back to the car and enter with a smirking cop wanna be feeling pretty good about himself. The rest of the night went well and all other staff was helpful/polite. This guy really needs to work someplace where he can get some real action rather than being obnoxious in a nice environment.

Yelp
We went there 4 times last year. Bring your own chair backs for chairs because you sit on benches very uncomfortable! with all country music and did not like it because everybody was standing up and they all were wearing cowboy boots. They must've been from Nashville. I wanted to sit and enjoy the music but 1 girl kept falling into my lap. (We got up and left) section 307

Yelp
Beautiful new venue in Huntsville that is hosting great shows. It is easy to get to and is a much needed entertainment venue in this community.

Yelp
Disneyland for concert venues, will be back every year widespread panic plays They literally have so much good food and cheap drinks, sound is amazing

Yelp
Food was not good. The staff and service is very unprofessional. I have been to many places but never one with wooden benches. Definitely worse seating and accommodation ever. This place looks nice buts is horrible as far as what is expected or out together.

Yelp
I am absolutely blown away by the staff at the Orion Amphitheater! On February 14 I visited the 'Winter Park' and lost a very sentimental bracelet while skating. I asked the women who were working the skate rental area if anyone has turned in a bracelet. They replied no and insisted that I leave my name and number in case it were to turn up. Even after this encounter, I was very pleased with how friendly and sincere the staff was. Even the lady sitting at the gate was invested in helping me find a way to get it back. I looked around for my bracelet and another staff member approached me and asked if I was missing something and even helped me look for it. At this point, even after all the help I have received, I started to feel hopeless about finding my bracelet, but I didn't lose complete hope because of how adamant the staff was to help me find my bracelet. Today, February 17, I receive a call from an employee named Brittany who informed me the bracelet had been found! I was absolutely ecstatic and blown away. Unfortunately, I missed her call so I was not able to share the excitement with her. I also talked to another employee named Tamara who met my mother to pick it up today. Tamara informed my mother that the Orion Amphitheater staff searched rigorously for my bracelet after the Amphitheater had flooded from the rain. The fact that your staff looked for the bracelet, especially multiple days after the incident is incredible. I am so blown away by the Orion Amphitheater staff and I cannot stress it enough! Everyone I encountered was extremely friendly and extremely helpful! I am so very grateful to have my bracelet back thanks to the overachieving staff at the Orion Amphitheater.

Yelp
Beautiful new venue. Not a horrible seat in the house, but I'd definitely keep it to the lower ring if financially possible for the optimal experience. Concessions are, as expected, pricey. The Jack White show was amazing!

Gigi H.

Yelp
The Orion is a lovely venue. It is very well laid out with easily accessible food, drinks and restrooms. However--- I recently purchased very expensive floor seats for the Stevie Nicks/Ingrid Andress concert. I truly wanted a memorable mother/daughter experience with an amazing musical legend. Lower priced ticket holders constantly pushed their way onto the floor section diminishing our view and frankly, destroyed our experience. The Orion staff did very little to stop this from.happening. For this reason, I will be very hesitant to go to another even at this venue

Rae M.

Yelp
Box office allowed 1 lady to buy 40 tickets. 5 total transactions with 8 tickets each. Limit is 8 tickets per person. Not fair that they are letting people do this. It's wrong and it keeps real fans from being able to attend shows. Show is sold out now while we waited in line.

Cory C.

Yelp
Got the shrimp tacos...served ice cold...horrible taste. When asked if they were suppose to be hot the lady said no...didnt offer to replace for another dish. I asked if she would throw away the remaining tacos and she did. Best part was throwing them away...will never but a product from them again...failed the test imo

Fredrick S.

Yelp
We went to the Black Crows show tonight, they were awesome. I want to send out a special thank you to Amy Reaves and the floor manager Kamerra. We had a small issue with seating. They were fantastic, made our first experience here very special. The world needs more people / workers like these two. Thank you so much Amy and Kamerra. Fred Smith Harvest AL

Yelp
I had a great time at the Stevie Nicks show. The venue was amazing and Ashleigh was a fabulous bartender.

Yelp
When I go I search out the best bar tender there. Ashleigh Denton!!! best drinks best service best smile!

Yelp
WSP!!! Great venue, good people, great atmosphere. Not a bad seat in the venue! Great sound throughout as well. Easy in and out.
