Awesome speak easy vibe! I wouldn't have known it existed if I didn't Google speak easy. I have been to downtown Chandler and have seen the Crust but didn't know there was a hidden gem downstairs. Look for the orange lamp on the side and go down the stairs. The ambiance is great! It has cool history back from 1912. The drink menu is large and you can even create your own. The sizes are huge off the food menu! We ordered a supreme pizza and the spicy sausage rigatoni and they both had amazing flavor and we have food for tomorrow! The staff and mangers are all super friendly and helpful too. Highly, highly reccomend!

It’s a hidden underground bar! I love the vibes, drinks, food and ofcourse the service. They have great food choices and good cocktails. It’s usually very busy. I went there a few times and wasn’t disappointed ever! Pretty chilled out place with bunch of friends for Friday eve! Go go go!

I quite enjoy this speakeasy style bar. The furniture is spacious and attractive. Really creates a cozy yet intimate atmosphere. Music is kinda loud/distracting but I get they probably just want to keep the energy up. I tried several of the craft cocktails and enjoyed most. Some were kind of hits or misses. Stand outs for me were: Last Mango In Mexico - Awesome spicy cocktail. My absolute fave of the night. ❤️‍🔥🥭🌶️🔥 Clover Club - Liked this one a lot too, more of a crisp refreshing taste. The Baker disappointed me not much flavor for description. Also tried a special request cocktail which definitely didn't turn out right but not really their fault since it wasn't a familiar menu item. Overall this place is superb for style and look. The drink menu is good. Not amazing yet but I would go back here for the Spicy Mango drink.

Staff is so friendly and their cocktails are intricate and delicious. Definitely the kind of place where you can just tell the bar tenders what liquor you would like and let them take the lead from there! We went on a Friday night and it was very busy but we we got all of our drinks quickly. It was a bit loud but that added to the fun speakeasy vibes

This is one of our favorite speakeasy’s on the west coast. Very cool atmosphere and one of the best drinks I have had in my my life. (Last Mango in Mexico). We also get the truffle fries which are amazing.

This was a lovely discovery. I absolutely enjoyed my “Gypsy Soul” cocktail that paired nicely with the tasty Pizza Margherita. The lighting is dim, so you’ll need a light to read the menu. The service wasn’t all that great, but friendly nonetheless. We weren’t able to get the jars refilled that held Parmesan. Our server said she would bring us parmesan packets, but completely forgot us. I gave this 4 stars because we’ll be back, but hope that the service will be more attentive. 🍸 🍕

The atmosphere here is nice, their mixed drinks were good. However, there were a couple things lacking for me. First, they serve absence but they don't have the proper tools (water, a sugar cube, and spoon strainer), instead they just sat a shot down and didn't preface it in anyway, and seemed confused when probed about it. This can be dangerous as in its concentrated form it can be harsh and damaging, especially if someone orders it and doesn't know anything about it. Second, food was alright, seemed to be lacking balance in the dishes I had. In conclusion if you are just coming here for drinks and pizza I think this is a fine place to go. I personally don't think I'll go back, but some of the people in the group really enjoyed it.

I would recommend ⭐️ their Clover Club drink. Soooo creamy yummy & if you like raspberry you’ll love it! Pros- super cute, dark, fun, cool atmosphere. I loved the setup. I wish I had wifi while I was down there though lol! Fun for a date night! The drinks were fun. The food was not amazing but decent! Cons- no internet connection no matter what we tried. Kept trying to pull up the menu but couldn’t bc of this. Parking can be interesting bc of how busy it can get!

Yelp
Really a sick speakeasy. My friends brought me here while I was in town, and I don't regret it. I'm by no means an expert in any realm of alcohol consumption, but I had several great drinks (that I forgot to take pictures of), namely the Clover Club and another that was an anonymous drink at the server's recommendation. I had a great time in a cool place with good friends. Obviously, my experience can't be transferred to your own, but the people working there put in the work to make it a great time. It also is somewhat attached to the restaurant above, so my friend ordereda calzone that made my other friend envious. I almost forgot to mention, maybe I'm just used to L.A. rates, but the drinks were not expensive. I think they were very fairly priced. Check this place out if you've got the time.

Yelp
The Ostrich was such an amazing experience. With real historic charm and an updated delicious menu, this place is a perfect spot to bring a date, your friends, or clients! This was a speakeasy during the prohibition!!! The bartenders and the manager, O, were all fantastic and we are excited to check out their murder mystery this weekend!! The drinks are so so good and all the food is wonderful too!! Can't wait for more nights at The Ostrich.

Yelp
I came here with a few friends on Tiki Tuesday and ordered the Flamingo Bowl to share. It was super tasty and the 4 of us easily finished it. I love the dark and moody atmosphere inside and the decorations for Tiki Tuesday were so fun! The service was amazing, one of my friends was not drinking and asked for a mocktail and the bartender went above and beyond to make her something that she liked! Can't wait to come back here and try some more drinks!

Yelp
Great place! Unfortunately the music was WAY too loud. Me and my table were yelling at each other because we had to fight against the club music. Even the server said she enjoyed serving in the other half of the room more than the side we were sitting in. Too dark, too loud for a dining space. MAYBE if there was a dance floor...it was giving very much gay club vibes (which I love cuz I'm gay but this was the WRONG setting for that). We left early cuz we wanted to be able to hear each other while we enjoyed our drinks (found ourselves at Hidden House down the street). Drinks were DELICIOUS. Server, Emma, was amazing! Would love to come back to The Ostrich as long as the music isn't overbearing.

Yelp
Party of 3 came in on a Friday night around 9 p.m. We ordered a couple of drinks & two appetizers. Our drinks were tasty and the food was fire! Had a bit of a spicy kick to it. Love the vibe and our waitress was super funny. She was cracking jokes all night. Loved her drink recommendations.

Yelp
Gina steals the show - I would 100% ask to have her at our table every time, and you should too! I do not know if my 5-star rating is due to her or not, but she certainly was an integral part of the experience for me. Cute little speakeasy in Chandler. Not busy when we went on a Thursday evening around 7 pm. Cocktails were good and music was played at a reasonable level so we could carry a conversation.

Yelp
Um hello, where has this place been all my life? Our group of 4 was on the hunt for a place for cocktails post-dinner at San Tan Brewery and we stumbled upon The Ostrich not even a block away. This speakeasy is easy to miss of you aren't aware of its existence. The bouncer outside checked our IDs and we proceeded down the staircase to the bar's entrance. I loved the ambiance and decor of this place. We were seated immediately and took a look at their cocktail menu. I ordered the Gilgo Beach-which, let me tell you, this is one of the best drinks on their menu. The combinations of flavors are out of this world and the quality id top-tier. The staff was so kind and the speed of drink delivery was great. I think it's also worth mentioning that the pricing of these high-quality cocktails is very reasonable. If you are someone that enjoys a goof speakeasy and you happen to find yourself in downtown Chandler, you should definitely check this place out.

Yelp
This place was so cute! Really large space, lots of seating. I went on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't very busy. It was Tiki Tuesday and they had special drinks! The people working were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was incredible too, especially the garlic knots! They also had a lot of happy hour deals too!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cool place! Secretive entrance, good food, and good drinks! My boyfriend got a jamo and ginger and I got a mock tail, but they don't have a mock tail menu so the bartender just makes one haha it was delicious! The pizza is amazinggggg

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit this place for a while, and I'm so glad we made it the final stop of our girls night out--it was the perfect way to wrap up the evening! The ambiance was dark and stylishly decorated, creating a cool vibe. I started with the Ostrich Pornstar, which was delicious, and we also shared a charcuterie board that was super tasty. The service was amazing, from the bartenders to the waitstaff--everyone was fantastic! I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
A hidden gem in downtown Chandler that you shouldn't miss, whether you're a local or just visiting. This spot offers fantastic cocktails and great food. The cocktails are exceptional, crafted with attention to detail by the bartender, making each sip a pleasure. The food is delicious and served in perfect portions. The atmosphere is uniquely inviting, with dim vibe, but you can still have a conversation without yelling over the music. If you're searching for the perfect cocktail bar, make sure to stop by this charming spot--you'll love it!

Yelp
We originally planned to eat dinner at Crust right above The Ostrich, but there was a bit of a wait so our hostess offered to have us seated downstairs at the Ostrich as they are under the same ownership as Crust and serve the same menu! We ended up preferring it over upstairs because it was more of a vibey, intimate ambiance! Overall we enjoyed our drinks and food, although the pizza sauce was a little too sweet for my preference. What made the experience truly special was the service. From the moment we were sat the service was top notch. We learned so much about the story behind The Ostrich and it was super interesting to see little tributes made to the original speakeasy. You can tell the employees are really passionate about where they work and I really appreciate that!

Yelp
Stopped in here to show my best friend this speakeasy. I haven't gone here in about 6 months so I assumed that Chanel was still the Manager but turns out, she's no longer here! I really liked her bubbly and fun personality so that was kinda a let down. Wherever she is , they are lucky to have her! She was amazing! In anycase, this is still a nice quaint place to come and have a peaceful evening while chatting over din din and drinks. The only thing that, I keep forgetting to add is that, your cell phone may not work inside, due to being in a basement atmosphere . Fyi When I told my friend this, I could read the eyes of not wanting to stay long. Lol There is a full service bar which has every liquor one could think of. The food, however, comes from upstairs and is really good. Awesome staff here! I recommend trying the butter cake for desert which is, awesome!

Yelp
Tasty drinks and such a chill place. Savanah was amazing. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Great place. We stopped in for after dinner drinks and dessert at the recommendation of a friend. The drinks had fresh ingredients and the desserts were amazing. If you haven't been here you should definitely check it out.

Yelp
Good place to hang out with friends. Love the ambiance. Dark and moody. Plays rap and rnb and it isn't too loud. Populated but not crowded. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is from Crust upstairs and is pretty decent. Their espresso martinis aren't the best I've had but not the worst.

Yelp
I live a good speakeasy Stumbling across The Ostrich was the perfect ending to a fantastic night. Can venue fills up quickly They also do not take reservations so the earlier the better or be prepared to wait. This venue fills up quickly They also do not take reservations so the earlier the better or be prepared to wait. I loved how lively the atmosphere was and the staff were working hard to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves They are pretty spacious compared to other speakeasy's

Yelp
This place is beautiful and a cute little gem. Love that it has a relatively full food menu to choose from, very rare for a speakeasy. All the bread and pizza items sounded delish! Also love how spacious and spread out it is, love the booths!
google avatar

Meredith B.

Yelp
Hands down best date place ever! We thoroughly enjoyed about 3 hrs in your comfy booth w great drinks thank you!

Yelp
I love this place. The atmoshpere is very relaxed yet intimate. The mixed drinks, and the service are exceptional. I recommend thos place for a second date.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere, the drinks, and the staff here. We showed up around 5:45pm on a Tuesday (Tiki Tuesday) and it was empty when we arrived, we stayed about 1 hour (babysitters cost money too! ). On a Tuesday throughout our stay the staff was attentive but not overbearing, very friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were strong and tasty. Great place for our anniversary celebration.
google avatar

Yelp
No signage outside, but you'll notice stairs going down and a red light to this speakeasy. The hostess will seat you or go straight to the bar. It has a dark, moody vibe inside. The signature cocktails are good. It can get pretty busy, but our server did check on us at least four times, which was good considering how busy it was during an early Saturday night. It's a great place for date night or small groups.
google avatar

McKenna D.

Yelp
This was the best speakeasy I've ever been too! Normally they are very small and insanely crowded but The Ostrich had plenty of room, a relaxed lounge vibe feel, & amazing drinks. It was also really cool knowing the history this building has with Chandlers namesake and the reason behind the name The Ostrich (check out the info on the menu)! We live 30+ min from downtown Chandler but will definitely be back soon we loved it here!
google avatar

Pookiie D.

Yelp
I came here last week and I ordered 3 different cocktails and they were all made incorrectly. I ordered a Military Navy, a White Lady, and a Clover Club. None of them tasted right at all. I don't know if it's because 2 of them were made with their "Well" Gin, but that gin doesn't even taste like gin... I Beseeched the bartender to use the Plymouth gin that they had listed on the menu for my Clover Club, and he acquiesced. The cocktail wound up tasting like nothing but Gin and egg white. I will resume visiting Gin and Reel in Phoenix.
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
We had breakfast around the corner and management mentioned this beautiful original speak easy, Definitely makes you feel like your in the past. Bartender makes drinks custom to us rather than what's on the menu. Great spot for girls night!
google avatar

Jess S.

Yelp
Very cute speakeasy in downtown Chandler. Come for the happy hour where you get discounts on drinks and bar bites. Service is always great. We love to look at the celebrity mugshots- it's a nice touch for ultimate speakeasy vibes.
google avatar

Jylian R.

Yelp
This fun little spot in downtown Chandler got me with pasta. The food was great, the service was wonderful (kind and knowledgeable waitress), and my drink was good. The speakeasy is dim, which make it hard to read a menu but that's expected. Overall, a unique little spot with a unique variety of drinks. (Wish they had beer though!)
google avatar

Leann W.

Yelp
Very very cool idea. First the cons: it's very busy and packed in a small tight space. It's hot and stuffy inside and not a lot of room. It's hard to order it's so loud in there. Service is a little slow but with how busy and cramped it was, it's not a Suprise. Also could use a good scrubbing down there. The pros: the bartenders are very friendly, helpful and fun. The drinks are delicious and freshly hand made. The idea of the speak easy is fun and creative. It's not over the top expensive, it's reasonably priced. I'd go again the pros out weight the cons for sure
google avatar

Craig Z.

Yelp
Cool place for a drink. They have a small menu of their own, and you can also order pizza from Crust. This was the first time I actually stayed, and I had a pleasant experience. I've tried to stop in a couple of times before, and the place just flat out stunk like sewer. I'll definitely stop in again.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Great drinks, you can order food from the restaurant above them (crust) and the pizza and apps were perfect to soak up the booze :)
google avatar

sally N.

Yelp
Cool speakeasy bar under the San Marcus hotel. Cocktails are great although a little on the pricey side. Discovered they serve food from "The Crust" restaurant upstairs and they have a great Happy Hour. Our server was very knowledgeable about the cocktail menu and was able to explain how each one tasted.
google avatar

Sabrina A.

Yelp
Just had a great get together with my husband, sister, brother and sister in law last night! I took my brother and sister in law there for the first time, I've been there a few other occasions. It was a Saturday and the place had a nice buzz to it! They place was pretty packed but we were seated immediately. Our server was sweet and very nice and gave me the recommendation of trying the Ostrich Pornstar cocktail which was delicious! We enjoyed all the cocktails we ordered and the food from crust. The Sicilian pizza hit the spot before a night of dancing later. We had a great experience and would definitely come again!
google avatar

Jaimie T.

Yelp
Find the red light and stairs leads you to a hidden basement bar/lounge. It's dark and moody with loud music but so much fun. A good mix of all age groups too. Drinks are mostly cocktails.
google avatar

Gretel Y.

Yelp
Heard about this speakeasy from the team at Crust. Since we enjoyed the cocktails at Crust, we thought we would try The Ostrich. Hubs and I decided to check it out after dinner on a Friday. We were told what to look for, so locating it was easy. The bouncer checked our IDs then let us through. The space was a little dark, but adds to the ambiance. Plenty of seating; there were couches, booths, table tops, and bar seating. The place was packed, but we found two seats by the bar. The mixologists greeted us as soon as they saw us. I looked through the menu and admired the unique concoctions, but eventually went with my usual, an espresso martini. Hubs ordered something off the menu. The drinks were made well. We also ordered spicy garlic knots which were delicious and had a nice kick. We stayed for a couple of hours, ordered another drink, and chatted with another couple sitting next to us. We liked the drinks and would definitely return. I knocked off a star because there wasn't much airflow. People were sweating and complaining that it was humid.

Alan F.

Yelp
Ostrich is a must go place. Weekends are the best. Drinks are great and the atmosphere is fantastic. We went during the week for the first time and was a miss but the manager "o" made it right! Love it and I am sure anyone who goes will come back.
google avatar

Janelle N.

Yelp
I do like that the Ostrich doesn't do passwords like some of the speakeasies do. Look for the orange light to find the entrance, descend the stairs to enter. It does smell musty and it is quite warm and humid inside. I do think the the Ostrich should implement more AC and a de humidifier though to get of the musty smell given hefty prices. I like the walk of mugshots: Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, Capone etc. The Ostrich has a very extensive spirits and liquor menu along with featured drinks. They serve a nice menu of food items as well. The low ceiling and cinder block walls give you that underground vibe and the black chandelier is a nice touch, but the long bare walk on the left of the entrance could certainly use more decor. The interior size is just right. Sanctuary and Gin & Reel are minuscule in comparison to White Rabbit which is a little too large in my opinion, whereas The Ostrich size is perfect!
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Prior to going to The Ostrich I had two friends tell me very different experiences they've had there. One was highly positive and other was very negative. Like most things in life, I decided to go have my own experience and see for myself :) Pros: -Beautiful looking bar with bottles arranged nicely. -It's dark and tiki lounge vibe, which I love. -Hostess was friendly upon arrival. Explained to me that it's Tiki Tuesday and next time if I wear some type of tiki inspired shirt/outfit that I can get a deal on drinks. That's fun! -Bartenders are very cool and know how to make amazing cocktails. I asked for a tiki drink that was a "surprise". Damn, it was good. They burned a piece of cinnamon and I enjoy that smell. My drink was a rum drink. Very tasty. -Fried Calamari from restaurant upstairs was good. -Great ambiance and it was pretty chill. Not too loud or busy (it was a Tuesday) Cons: -Only thing to note is it can be hard to locate if you've never been there before. There is no signage and it's down a flight of stairs. This is intentional, to add to the intrigue of the place, so it's not really a con just something to be aware of.
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to The Ostrich for almost a decade now, and when I tell you we have witnessed it change, I mean the ups and downs! We are so happy to see The Ostrich back to its amazing state, all thanks to the new manager Shamit! The ambiance, the staff and the food and cocktails are top notch. They have a great craft cocktail menu, my favorite drink that has lived on through all the changes is the baker. A twist on a whiskey sour and it is a 10/10. Other wise they offer dealers choice which I think is so fun and I would highly recommend! The bartenders, Mike, Jet, and Justin to name a few, really know what they're doing and make some of the best cocktails we've ever had. We also have a favorite server, Raiven. Not only is she attentive, but she is so kind and has such a fun personality. If you're looking for a unique speakeasy with a true prohibition vibe, visit The Ostrich. You will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
This was my first time here. The atmosphere was really chilled. The pizza from the restaurant Crust was awesome. I loved how it was shaped like a wine glass. Cute. The waiter was nice on the eyes and his service was good too.

Yelp
My speakeasy seeking PIC and I rolled up here on Friday, June 16, 2023 about 4:45 pm. I mentioned this because Crust was hosting a corporate event for avionics companies. We realized we needed to explore for another 15-minutes, I wandered off to find a geocache, and Audrey sought out the entrance for The Ostrich (a suggestion by her daughter) I returned from not finding the cache, but Audrey and Daniel wheeled the corner. She introduced us, and Daniel mentioned to find him again at 5 pm so he can guide us to the secret entrance. (Later) Daniel does guide us to the secret entrance, and briefly explains the history of the speakeasy. It was so cool! A false wall that's a door was very James Bond-ish. Once again, I'm gonna harp on the missed music opportunity with the contemporary tunes versus period music *sigh* I am alone in the thinking of providing an experiential vibe with decor, dress, patrons, and music. I digress. The walls were adorned with mugshots of celebrities! Of course, the token ostriches needed to be present. On to the main event ... the drinks! We were acknowledged immediately when we posted up at the bar. I ordered a Room 301 since none of the set menu drinks that were specific to The Ostrich had rum in it. Audrey ordered a Mexican Firing Squad. Both cocktails were well done by our mixologist. After our obligatory drink photos we toasted and happily sipped away. In the meantime, we ordered the meatball sliders which were plenty for us. Again, I would've awarded 5-stars *IF* the music matched the experience. Regardless, I would highly recommend The Ostrich any day, and any time they are open.

Yelp
Great bar! The drinks were tasty and strong. And the atmosphere was cool - kind of a speakeasy vibe. Katie was our server and was so sweet and attentive. We were celebrating a graduation and she made sure we had a great time. Would definitely come again.

Victoria W.

Yelp
I usually really enjoy The Ostrich but this time we sat there for 15 minutes waving at the waitresses and the hostess and none of them bothered looking up from the ground. We gave up and went to SanTan Brewing Company and someone immediately greeted us and took our orders after being sat. Oh and the hostess said "Have a good night!" After just sitting us 15minutes before and ignoring us. * * * Okay we went back because the manager responded saying to go in and ask for him. The bartender said his name was Mike and to show him the review and he would honor it. He refused to get the actual manager and he gave us a shot that was not a full shot. Still have a bad taste in my mouth from this place

Cass R.

Yelp
The service tonight was absolutely awful. The hostess sat us and then sat another table shortly after us, they were serviced right away and we waited for 10mins before asking the hostess who our sever was, the hostess then notified the server. This server, girl in a red dress, was told she was our server and she serviced two other tables walking past us multiple times and not saying a word. I've been here multiple times and have never had this awful of service. Girl in the red dress (the server) should be retrained in customer service. Even if there was confusion on if we were their table, they should've at the very least acknowledged us.

Yelp
Gina was the best server! She had great style and energy, with great recommendations! She definitely made the night great for us! 10/10 would come back

Yelp
Fun speakeasy underneath Crust! The drinks here are so good (and strong!)! Our server was amazing! She made the experience that much better. She was super attentive and took time to talk with us and joke around. We even got a sampler of a drink on the house! I love the vibe here. It's not too noisy and is a quieter, calmer area to hang out. Nice romantic date spot as well. You can order food from Crust. The menu consists mainly of salads, pizza and pasta. I ordered gluten free penne with marinara. It was very flavorful. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
GINA is soo good!!! She truly made the experience She is truly the modern day flapper. If coud rate over 5 starts I would.

Yelp
The drinks are great but the basement is a bit musty. Couldn't get past the smell that time we were there and had to leave. The mixology is truly great though!!
