The story of how I ended up here is that I was looking for something "refreshing" before going home. I searched Google Maps for a place where they sold beer and this place was close to me. I loved it since I came in, full of candles, bottles and a place at the bar with your own menu and a candle. They have craft beers, so I had no idea what to order. The guy in the bar was super nice to me. He asked me what kind of beer I drank regularly in order to find one that was to my liking. He gave me some to try and so I chose which one I wanted. He was always very kind (I would like to know his name to add it to my review), so if you are reading this, THANK YOU. Sometimes it's scary to go out alone, but I'm definitely happy to have gone because I loved this cozy place. That day they had rock music but I believe that is the kind of music they always have. 🙌😊

I love the ambience of this place from as soon as I walked in the door they had some nice low light seating and a few people at the bar but they also had some booths you can sit in towards the back. My friend my wife and I came here to have a few beers and my wife’s favorite which are ciders and they actually had some she’s never had! I would definitely come back here.

Solid beer collection both on draft and by can/bottle. You can get 5oz pours, which essentially allows you to build your own flight so you can enjoy multiple beers! There is always a couple of options for sours and stouts, so it's not just the typical IPA and pale ale selection you see at some spots.

This place is the definition of a local's bar. Upscale beer bar vibes, as a non-beer drinker there wasn't much to pick from but they did have a locally made sake that was very tasty! My go to drink here for sure. Cash only, & you can order outside food to be delivered here

Nice and chill beer bar in Brooklyn with a good selection of beers. I really like the ambiance and the cool owl decorations they have. The staff is really friendly and attentive too. Perfect spot to just grab a drink and chill.

Where do I start??? This is prob my favorite bar to stop by. I have never had a bad experience here. And they always have the best selection of beers on tap. ALWAYS. They also have a full bar too! Jared and Eamonn are super nice and always welcoming. All the bartenders there are amazing. And the people who stop by there are great too. Never had a bad run in. Also...they're really great at keeping stuff you leave behind.lol. I have left so much of my crap there but they always have it and keep it for me until I pick it up. I'm so grateful. A great people watching bar with a front window looking out at 9th Street and all it has to offer. Sweet draft beer menu included Equilibrium Photon on my last few visits and there was a woman with her 'support rabbit' spinning around on her bar stool. Good times, good bartenders (Michael) and plenty of elbow room to enjoy Bklyn at its finest.

Had some drinks at The Owl Farm on Friday evening. They have a solid beer list and friendly staff, but I just was not a fan of the grimy space. Quality: The Owl Farm is a dependable beer bar, but it lacks a true draw. They have a good size tap list, it had fifteen beers and five ciders on it during out visit. It was also a good mix of local beers as well as old world beers, though I felt the actual varieties could have been more exciting. They also have an impressive list of cans and bottles, for those not moved by any of the beers on tap. And for non-beer drinkers there were a few wines and cocktails. During my visit I tried two beers and two ciders, Woodstock Baby Dragon and Saison DuPont, and then Phonograph Greening and Blackduck No Pasaran. The highlight of that group was the Phonograph Greening, a lighter cider with a beautiful balance. Quantity: The menu clearly delineates the size of the pours. Value: $10-$12 for standard Draft Beers and Draft Cider Pours. There are a ton of options, so it can vary widely if you are selecting bottles, cans, or specialty beers. Ambiance: The Owl Farm is located in Park Slope along 9th Street. Currently they have a few tables outside, but the busy area is not really a spot I would choose to sit outside. Inside they have a fairly large bar with some spread out stools, high-tops adjacent to it, and some tables behind that. The area with the tables also has a fireplace, and in the far back are several pinball machines. It is a very dark bar, and it has more of a dingy and dirty vibe than I was a fan of. It seemed to be trying to get that cellar feel, but it felt forced. There were also unfortunate smells that would waft through the bar every so often, similar to cleaning chemicals. It was especially bad in the back, but clearly made an impression across the bar. Crowd: It filled up relatively quickly on Friday evening. All the bar seats were taken as well as those outside, and the back seating area was becoming popular by the time we left. Service: The bartender was great, and was a lot more patience putting up with silly beer preference conversation than I would have been. Parking: Need to walk a few blocks to find a parking spot.

This is such a wonderful bar in the neighborhood! The bartenders are super friendly and kind. There is a lot of space to hang out with your friends. The prices are reasonable and there are many drink options. The bar is also convenient to several subway stops and buses. Thanks, Owl Farm!

Best beer bar in the area. Not try hard, easy going clientele. You will find a new beer to love at Owl Farm.

Best owl-themed bar in Brooklyn. Also just a pretty good bar in general. Long happy hour and plenty of deals besides, including a delightful selection of boilermakers. Pull up a bar seat and have yourself a time. Also, the bartenders are super chill. Full of interesting anecdotes, and also happy to provide information about the extensive draft list. The beer selection really is stellar. Being able to choose between 5, 10, and 16 ounce pours makes it easy to either sample several brews or load up on a specific favorite. There are pinball machines in the back. I recommend the Guardians of the Galaxy machine; fun challenges, and somehow easier to play than either the Twilight Zone machine or the Bride of Pinbot machine. Get change at the bar and have some fun. I like this bar and want to come back all the time.

The Owl Farm is legit. Jared is the shit (unintentional rhyme, don't complain). I get royally annoyed by places that are pretentious, obnoxious, hipster joints, and despite the ambient lighting, this place is anything but. I've been here a handful of times with my brewing boyfriend who shares the same sentiment. He loves no frills, quality beer (not everything is a quadruple hopped colonial lactose IPA) with pleasant service and adores Owl Farm. And, our boy Jared is fantastic!! Everyone who's helped me has been pleasant but he's been there the last visits and LET ME TELL YOU. He has the sweetest, warmest personality and knowledgeable of beers and spirits without being a smart ass (actually doesn't exclude me from the convo when him and bf are yammering on and on about beer- what a gem). Also looks like Matthew Mcgorry from Orange is the New Black. Not Dane Cook.

When Robin is holding court behind the bar, waxing poetic about the best saisons in the world right now, or swapping stories about Alaskan sojourns, or blaming himself and his perceived limitations for not enjoying the rare craft beer that he doesn't particularly love, well, The Owl Farm just has a magic alchemy that makes for a perfect bar experience. First and foremost, the beer list is beyond beyond reproach... like going to a club where the DJ plays every song you want to hear and a few you didn't realize how very much you were in the mood for. Simply a dizzying array of breweries and styles, I almost never fail to find something new and exciting to try. And when my imagination does fail, enter the knowledgeable staff to chat about beer and recommend something perfect. Unless they've just had an event or tap takeover, you will find virtually any style of beer you can imagine one draught pull away from your thirsty, quivering lips. The bar manages to feel intimate but also adequately spacious. There are a couple of plum tables up front with windows open in nice weather looking out on 9th Ave. The bar is a fine place to make some new friends (provided everyone isn't staring at their Untappd check-ins on their phone). The back area is nice and dark - there are a few pinball machines tucked in the back, but not so much as to be a noise distraction. Nice music, but very background - it's a bar for drinking and socializing first, games and rowdiness second. The other key, underrated bar quality that The Owl Farm has which kind of puts it over the top for me is that when they say 4am, they mean 4am. None of this "oooh, it's a little quiet tonight, let's lock up at 2:30am" business. No angry drunken tugging on prematurely locked bar doors on your part - you can saunter in there at 3:15am and enjoy yourself a last call (or two if you're enterprising) anytime. And if by some odd chance the beers, atmosphere, conversation and pinball aren't enough, and you happen to find yourself bored, you can always study the cool decor and finally perfect your method of drawing owls. (Or Weird "Owl" Yankovic, depending upon where you are sitting.)

The hubs and I went to this place 3 times in one night! Once, before dinner at Talde - Twice, after dinner at Talde - Thrice, after grabbing dessert at another place in the area. :) There's a decent tap list going and quite a bit of ciders too. There's a clean bathroom and the service is pretty good. We enjoyed hanging back but also sitting up front at the bar. Not too divey, kind of hipstery. I like the lit candles on the tables and bars. Very cute touch. It feels very cozy. I liked the beers I tried but especially the Nomader Weisse from Evil Twin. Yummy.

Owl Farm is very close to the F/G on 7th Ave. I really liked it here! I was here on the Sunday before MLK Day around 10:00 p.m. I couldn't believe that the bar was completely full! I grabbed a table near the bar. The lit candles on each table give it a romantic and semi rustic feel. It's dark in here so the candles do act as a personal light when you're looking at the drink menu. I started with a pale ale on draft- the citron per the bartender's recommendation. It was light, airy. Pretty good. I then went for a cider on draft which was very good. The sugar makes me very guilty. I wish there were backs on the seats. I found myself slumped over with an aching back by the end of the night. I did not have any food so I can't rate it. I do like that it's a low key place but still nice. It's very tasteful. The staff is easygoing and doesn't bother you unless you need something. What a great place for a date. I'd like to come back!

You can bring dogs and babies before 6pm!! And still enjoy a nice drink. Pear cider was great, the two other drinks on tap were tasty as well. Interesting bathroom shape, very longitudinal. Back area has arcade games. Very low lighting - can't see any dirt. Seemed like lots of drink options; beer variety.

Really liked this place, very cozy atmosphere with great music that's just at the right volume. I like that they offer a great cider selection and that there's ample table space for groups. The prices are also fantastic.

The Owl Farm is becoming one of my favorite bars, and it is worth checking out if you happen to be passing through the area. This bar is particularly great for beer fans. They have an awesome rotating list of draft beers as well as bottled. Some interesting beer cocktails are also available. Never fails to disappoint and always super chill on any given night. The owl theme the decorates the fairly large interior is super cute. Owl clocks, murals, drawings, sculptues, etc provide random yet inviting decor for a casual, hip bar. The crowd is always mixed and chill. The noise level is not bad, background music is cool but not too loud. There is a considerable amount of seating throughout the bar and tables towards the back. Never had issues getting a seat. The very back of the room has a setup of some working pinball machines. The space gets somewhat more intimate at night with the really dim lighting and low lit candles. Service here is always great as the bartenders are very attentive to all their customers. Note there is no food here except for some bar snacks such as kettle chips, but there are plenty of restaurants near by. A minimum of $15 if using credit card. The beer menu is pretty awesome as there is a new brew to always discover. They have a great lineup of craft beers that range from your ipa to a nice hard cider. Aside from beer is also an extensive wine menu. The pricing is very reasonable, and I enjoy the fact they provide different size servings at different price points. Overall the perfect spot for a chill night spent drinking a tasty beer or two. The Owl Farm is a bit out of the way, but if you happen to be around this part of Brooklyn, totally worth the visit.

This bar is a dump and it smells like wet dog. All of the dog owners are your typical arrogant Brooklyn residents who won't even move their dogs leash when you go to the restroom. And I love dogs. The bartender's pours were subpar for an $8 beer. Go elsewhere.

Word has got out. Great variety of beers, bring your own food and awesome friendly bartenders. When you have all of these in one place, people will come. My husband and I have been coming to Owl Farm when it first opened two and a half years ago. Something about this bar keeps us coming back. It may be because of the: - Great beers from breweries like Other Half, Hill Farmstead, BFM, Alpine, etc. that we can't get enough of - Beer events they have like the Stout event where my husband and I came to try out the different stouts they had on tap for 3 consecutive days - Dog friendliness where you can bring your dogs into the bar. Note that as of 4/1/2015, no dogs will be allowed in the bar from 6pm - 12am but allowed other times when the bar is open. - Awesome bartenders & manager that know the locals and love beer as much as we do and friendly with the newcomers. - Happy hour special till 7pm The list can go on. Go see for yourself how Owl Farm is. It won't disappoint.

This is a cool little bar loaded up with owl decor and pinball machines! The bar is rather narrow, but the staff is friendly. They serve up some obscure craft beers that you will not find in other bars. The hubby and his buddy were anxious to check this place out. We were there this past Saturday (which coincided with Passover, so no beer for me). They both loved their beer! The bar doesn't serve food, but they will allow you to bring in your own food or get it delivered. We brought lunch with us and grabbed a table in the back. In the back of the bar, there are 3 pinball machines! How cool is that? While I didn't play pinball on this visit, I definitely would on a future visit. This place is definitely worth checking out.

Stepped in here and tried a red sparkling wine from Italy called Opera Lambrusco di Modena. So damn good. It was crisp and dark. Give it a shot when you visit. The Owl Farm is pretty rad. I went on a Friday night. The candles were burning, the music wasn't too loud, it was kind of romantic and I wasn't expecting that --but I'm certainly not mad about it! There are some beautiful selections on their beer menu. The Breakside Wanderlust IPA was a hit! I'll be going back for sure.

This place is a hoot. Beer selection galore. Beers, beers, and more beers. Beer weeks. Beer months. Beer beer beer. You see where this is going right? They have one of the largest and most diverse selection of taps here. All of which are at a pretty good price. They sometimes feature certain beers for a week that are all a certain criteria or style. They don't serve food here, but that's no biggie. They let you bring food in. The place does carry a delicious taco smell from time to time. They have one small television in here, so I wouldn't suggest you come here for any big games, unless you and your friends get here early. And even then you'll have to deal with the bartenders opinions of sports. Listen, we all know Tom Brady is a cheater. Stop your love obsession with him. If you're looking for some new and interesting beers, this could be your spot.

This is easily turning slowly into one of my favorite Brooklyn craft beer bars. It's owl themed for one thing. I have a small obsession with owls and when I see them all over the walls in cute decorative art work, I internally squeal with delight. The vibe is so chill and laid back. It's dark, a little grungy, but with dimly lit candle lighting. Pinball machines are in the back. There is no food but they allow outside food. If Bagel Pub (not a bar but a great idea for a bar) is open next door they make great bagels. If not, there's various taco joints across the street. I feel like the no food bars are the ones that really tend to just focus on those beers. The menu is usually one of the best beer menus I've seen aside from the Double Windsor with carefully selecting very unique ales and changing them at an insanely frequent rate. Also, happy hour is until 7pm every day and you get a buck off your beverage. Recently came in and tried their Mystic Spectral Evidence (12% abv) as well as their Eric More Cow Bell Milkstout from Singlecut. Note, they also let you pick the size of your beer in 8/12/16 oz pours for most things. Very reasonably priced and I must say pouring beer into a wine goblet glass is genius because whatever I was poured seemed way more than 8 or 12oz. They also do a sampler of 4oz pours for whatever you feel like drinking off the menu. They just halve the price of what an 8oz is for each one and boom - mini beer flight!

The perfect place to escape a very cold Brooklyn day. Initially the name drew me in, but the cider list kept me! And not usually a beer drinker... but the bartender found one even I love! Will definitely be back after a long winters nap.

We went here on a Friday night and it was busy, but we were able to find seats. The bar is dimly lit and has candles on the tables. The music isn't too loud which is what we were looking for. We had gone to a different bar and couldn't hear our friends so when we arrived at The Owl Farm it was a great fit. They have board and card games to play which is always a nice addition. The beers are priced like all the surrounding bars at about $8 a beer. They have a good amount of beers to choose from on their menu. Really liked the vibe of this bar and would recommend going there!

The Owl Farm should be the second or third stop on any Park Slope suds crawl (The first being The Gate or Mission Dolores). I didn't say first because once you start hanging out here with the very well-curated tap list featuring names like Cigar City, Other Half, Goose Island, Hill Farmstead and several others depending on the week it may very well be your last stop. Coupled with pinball machines and plenty of good eats nearby it should be. Most weekend nights it's raucous enough to celebrate with friends and during the day chill enough to read a book with some of the east coast's best brews. With the woody interior and dim lighting it's not a bad place to bring your date after you've treated her to the 9pc chicken McNuggets a few doors down.

As far as beer bars go, this place is exactly what you want. Not crowded, nice bartender, no loud music, and a unique/changing draught list. On a Saturday afternoon, only one bartender in the place, but only 5-10 patrons altogether. Space is bigger than it looks, with comfortable seating in the back and huge bar seating up front. Another plus: pet friendly. So many dogs to pet that walk in and out. Bartender even puts out some treats and water for them. A+ Service. Beer list is fantastic, although the stronger ones only get 8oz pours. Another drawback, no food to speak of. I'm sure you could probably bring in your own though.

I came here multiple times during a visit with my niece. This is her local/favorite watering hole. I sampled at least 20 beers. My favorite the Jackie O. The vibe is very friendly (cheers like), everybody knows everybody. When you walk in there is a narrow bar, in the back there is seating and nice sized restrooms.

Great low key moody ambiance with unique owl mural sketches on the wall. Edison bulbs and candle light abound. Extensive tap list additionally cider wine sake. Beer lovers paradise but great options for the non beer lover!

LOVE the decor here. What a cozy spot to enjoy some beers. The bar is narrow but the building is spacious enough. Snagged some stools on the back wall on a Saturday night before cocktails and dinner. Service was fine and they have a nice selection to appeal to any beer palate. I'd come here often before or after dinner if I lived in the area.

Went last night after working and had an awesome time!!!! The environment is friendly the music is mixed which makes you feel comfortable and the bartender is super friendly and nice. It's weird because I pass this place everyday yet out of six years living in park slope this is now my to go spot. Vodka soda and a splash of cranberry AMAZING!!!

Is it weird when a bartender can just look at you, and know what beer you need? Is it insulting when that beer is the Jerkface 9000?* Is it soul-crushing when she's right? I don't know the answers to those questions. But The Owl Farm is the answer to these questions: What bar has one of the best beer selections in the neighborhood? What's the best thing that could've happened to Harry Boland's? Where can you find the best bartenders, one of whom is a fantastic goalie? What's the best place to eat Fatty Daddy tacos while washing them down with beer? What's actually a really weird name for a bar that I never even gave any thought to until I started writing this review? I mean, are they growing owls here? Not that I've seen. Great beers and great atmosphere. Tons of dimly lit tables, loud music, good bartenders. When I went, they were having a sour beer weekend, so they had a ton of awesome beers from all over the world. Love love loved it! Great place to hang out. They don't take AmEx though!

Owl Farm has one of the best beer selections I have ever seen. It boasts about two dozen beers on tap with many seasonal options that you won't find elsewhere. In addition to appealing to seasonal tastes, Owl Farm offers a selection of beers that will please any beer aficionado including sour ales, strong belgian ales, and other rare drafts and bottles. Simply put, Owl Farm has top flight beer. Owl Farm also has a nice atmosphere. There is plenty of seating and the bar plays solid alternative rock at a reasonable volume. I also like that they have a few pinball machines in the rear. As a disclaimer, don't put your quarters in to Arabian Nights! All in all, Owl Farm is a must stop in the Park Slope area for anyone looking to try some new funky beers.

This place screams hipster and if that's your thing then kudos. The lights are turned down so low in there you can't even read the beer menu. And if there isn't a spot at the bar you are forced to sit at a table with children sized stools! What the bleep is that all about!? Didn't even order a beer before we got the heck out of that place. I'm sure the beer is good but you can get good beer at a million different places in Brooklyn without the obnoxiousness

I'd heard good things about this place, went on a Monday night, and, it was pretty cool. Barring it was a monday, it wasn't crowded. Draft selection was on point, had one of my favorite sours (Bruery Sour in the Rye) on tap, so I couldn't complain, well, I could, but i won't. Guys behind the bar were nice to everyone around. Big bar area, two pinball machines in the back. Looking for a nice relaxed place to grab a drink, come here.

Is it the greatest bar in the planet? Yes... yes it is... [Why are you still reading?] Good vibes, excellent music ... don't go here for a Grey Goose Cosmo, it's not what they do. I would knock a half star for the perennially bad wine selection, but beer selection is insane, as is the brown stuff. For now giving the benefit of the doubt and keeping the elusive 5-star for this neighborhood gem... open daily and open late.

Owl Farm has become my favorite beer bar in Brooklyn. It may not be the biggest or hippest bar or have the most tap lines, but what it does have is a great relaxed comfortable vibe with super friendly staff and really impressive rotating selection of drafts. Prices are very reasonable and they offer 8/12/16oz pours so you can actually try a wide range of beers (and that 8oz pour is key with some of the 12%+ ABV beers they offer). On top of this they regularly have pretty amazing tap takeovers by some of the best breweries in the country. These aren't tap takeovers where they bring in a few kegs from a specific brewery, but rather they actually bring in representatives from the brewery who often bring very special and unusual one off kegs. In the case of Bear Republic, the owner of the brewery was there (who kindly guided us through the order we should try their dozen or so beers on tap, and then ended paying for all our rounds!). The great thing about these events is that you can still also almost always get a seat at the bar. Of course the Founders event this week was different and the bar was the most packed I have ever seen it while well over 100 people waited for the pouring of the super rare Founder CBS at 7pm. They kicked that keg in 30 minutes. Okay so maybe they should lose a star for their vile bathroom (I think it may have been featured in Trainspotting), but the service and beer make you quickly forget. And you can always use the bathroom at Peppino's or Fatty Daddy when getting take out to bring to The Owl Farm.

I have to be honest. I've been here 3 times and haven't ordered anything to drink. I've had some sips of other people's stuff, but I typically only come here because my friends are big fans. My favorite thing about this place is the adorable drawings of owls all over the walls. The last time I was there, I noticed that they have pin ball machines in the back. Pretty snazzy. Though I've never ordered, I've observed the bartenders. They are very nice and quick with orders. If you have an open tab, they're really good at remembering your name and can juggle many cards no matter how busy they are. P.s. The stalls in the woman's bathroom are tiny and the doors fold in. Good luck in there, friend.

What's not to love! We came here for a grunge 90's New Years Eve shindig! That basically sealed the deal in the love for this place. They worked with the Elysian Brewery and got an excellent selection of beers! They even had the perfectly, delectable Jasmine IPA. Being from the Northwest, it was the time machine back to home. And then all the lovely 90's music was playing in the background via DJ. I even heard "the Gits" in the music mix. Our friends came by and hung out for some drinks. We shared some champagne and rang in the new year in all 90's grunge glory!

An unassuming bar with great bartenders and an extensive beer list. My girlfriend and I stayed here for about three hours while we waited for the rain to settle down. We ordered different beers and then switched to sparkling wines. They don't serve food but have awesome pretzels and chips behind the bar. Also, they have some dog rule (before a certain hour and after a certain hour dogs are allowed in or something) so some dude came in with his dog and that was great. An all around great bar in Park Slope.

This is a follow up to an evening with friends that ended on a sour note due to a bartenders behavior. A week later I went back and had my faith restored. One less-than-great encounter with a bartender should not cast a negative light on an entire establishment. Own Farm is unique and beer fans all around are lucky this place is here.

Honestly there are not enough owls here to justify the name being "The Owl Farm." Add more owls!

Great vibe for a hang or a casual date, excellent beer selection (like really excellent...with lots of sour beer options!), friendly bartenders, and pinball machines in the back! I can always count on them for a tasty brew, and they have plenty of liquor options for your non-beer-drinking coworkers or what have you... Plus, they have special brewery events on a regular basis. Don't think twice...just go!

My go-to spot in the neighborhood, always a good vibe even in the daytime. Good selection of craft beers and ciders. I'm a fan of sour beers and can find my little haven here. Great for first dates, any date, drinks with friends, or just unwinding after a long day.

Place is good. Def. a good place if you want catch a beer right after the train ride. I came here for birthday and staff is very good!!

Beer lovers dream! Owl Farm is cozy and offers a wide variety of beers that aren't easily found. They often feature a week of something like a specific brewery or type of beer. Everything they offer has a great description and I'm never disappointed.
