The Packhorse Inn

Wow, what a place! Amazing setting, beautiful rooms and then the service beats that still. Here on business and was looked after so well, even though both Ben and Rosie had a lot going on. My chicken main course with tabbouleh was possibly one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted (thank you chef) Ben, couldn’t have been more helpful and Rosie was brilliant, being able to pay attention to every table she was looking after (which was a lot) and still managed to give 5 star service. Stayed one night in the Folly room. Very comfortable bed. There's a bath in the room with handheld shower, which is slightly awkward if you like your privacy! Friends joined us for drinks in the evening and we sat outside in the lovely gardens. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. All the staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. Lovely spot for walks. Great place to stay!

We stayed two nights. The place was lovely the room we were in was nice and big and had everything we needed. Lovely green area and walks for our fur baby Luna. Breakfast was good and the lady who served us was so lovely and so nice to our dogglet! She was super nice and helpful and made sure everyone was looked after!! I can't remember her name now but she was starting Slimming World this weekend! Good luck!! Really nice stay!!

We came here a couple of weekends ago for Sunday lunch and we were extremely impressed. There was nothing that we could fault. Food was served quickly by the very friendly team. The location was superb and the restaurant was well decorated but best of all, the food was on another very high level. thanks to everyone involved, we will be back soon

Lovely ambiance, food and service. Don't know about the hotel but we do come here once a year when on holiday. For lunch mostly, with our daughter who lives and works nearby. A beautiful historical inn and dito environment (bridge). We usually walk through the forest and around the small medieval church nearby before.

Due to an issue before arrival I had to phone to advise we would be late and was greeted with a smiling sounding girl who told me it would not be a problem. When I booked on line I requested a certain meal which had been removed from the menu. The waitress went to see the chef and he came to see me and cooked me a bespoke dish discussing it with me several times to ensure I was happy with what he was cooking me. It was delicious. All staff were very pleasant and attentive throughout. We travel from Holland on Sea to see our family in Newmarket and visit whenever we can. We always thoroughly enjoy all our visits and the food and service is always exceptional.

All the staff were genuinely friendly, engaging and helpful. The food was first class and good value.||The room (we were in the Barn) was excellent and we were delighted when we realised it had air conditioning on what was one of the hottest weekends! A bonus as didn't see that in the room description. Delightful setting and in easy reach of the places we wanted to visit over the weekend.||We'll be back

Had a fantastic time at The Packhorse! The food was fresh, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Service was spot-on — friendly, attentive, and relaxed. We felt really well looked after, and everything we ordered was absolutely top-notch. Big thanks to the team — we’ll definitely be back!
