Booked a two night stay at this cracking pub. Room was lovely and clean. Good powerful shower. Welcome pastry was a nice touch. Food was brilliant...highly recommend the East Anglian breakfast. Staff were helpful and attentive, the breakfast team were delightful. Electric car charging on site was useful

Had a wonderful stay here , beautiful pub with some of the best food I’ve had in a long long time…but the staff made it even more special,they can’t do enough for you. Special shout out to sylus who waited on us and delivered some of the best service we’ve ever had a class act for a class establishment! Highly recommend

My family stayed at the packhorse for 10 days upon arriving in the UK. The hospitality and accomidation are unmatched. ALL the staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. It did not matter who we came across, if we had a question - they worked to find us an answer or solution. They were a great team. We have made it a point to return every month since our stay to get a taste of their delicious food. Would highly recommend for a nights stay or a great meal.

Overall we did enjoy our Sunday lunch here but there were some pitfalls that I feel could easily addressed. Main one being the food came out warm, not hot. Disappointing as we waited a reasonable amount of time and I can only assume much of their roast is batch cooked and kept under warming lights as the roast potato’s were also quite chewy. Again when deserts came out, also warm, not hot, like they had been sat around. A nice place but keep an eye out so that standards don’t slip.

The service we received was excellent. Everyone was really responsive to us and we did have a few issues, which everyone dealt with in a very positive and friendly manner. Our table was beautiful and the setting was faultless. The starters were all really nice. Our mains were disappointing. My brothers and sister all had to sit with their steaks for several minutes before receiving their sides - this is a personal pet hate for me. I hate watching my food get cold whilst waiting for the rest of the meal. My pie was nice , but I like a lot of gravy and I feel like most places simply don’t put enough on the plate. My mash was small and my bbq leeks weren’t cooked properly. I was quite disappointed, I was really looking forward to eating the leeks in particular. My dessert was delicious, as were all the other desserts we received. It was mainly just the main courses that were disappointing. I must underline though, that the service was really good. We had a lovely lady look after us all afternoon and she must have been quite irritated with all our requests but she never stopped smiling and offering to help. Everyone we met had a smile on their face and that makes a huge difference. If the mains had been bigger, with our sides served at the same time, it would have been near enough the perfect meal.

Had a fantastic stay, glad we chose the packhorse inn! The room exceeded my expectations and was spotlessly clean. The food was also exceptional + you can tell a lot of care goes into the menu. A big thank you to the team for a great stay!

The hotel is advertised as a 5-star property on both Google and Booking.com. Unfortunately, it does not live up to that rating — which feels misleading. The bad: We had to change rooms because the first one was not properly cleaned. In the first room, we found a visible spider and several cobwebs in noticeable places. We were moved to another room, but it had similar issues — two small spiders and dust clearly visible behind the TV, wardrobe, and other areas. Overall, the cleanliness did not meet 5-star standards. The good: The room itself was nicely designed. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant — delicious food and a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and polite throughout our stay. I hope this feedback helps the hotel improve so that future guests can enjoy a better experience. P.S. The surrounding area is beautiful, with great trails for walking and exploring.

We visited on 26/10/25 the night before my daughter’s wedding (myself, my daughter, my sister & my niece). We had a lovely roast dinner in the restaurant & then stayed in 2 courtyard rooms. The rooms were very comfortable & clean, comfy beds & nice bathrooms. We then returned the morning after the wedding with 16 family members for breakfast, the staff kindly kept the kitchen open later for us & seated us all together. The large variety of breakfasts we had were all delicious. Thank you so much to The Packhorse Inn for helping make the wedding celebrations special.
