The Best Restaurants in Spain’s Girona Region | Eater

"The region’s most celebrated fish auction, famed for its prized red shrimp and a bustling weekday 4 p.m. sale where the day’s Mediterranean catch is brought to market; visitors can watch the auction or combine a market visit with seaside culinary experiences." - Isabelle Kliger

Great selection of fresh fish and seafood. We bought sea bass ( Lubina ) and the famous Palamós shrimp ( Gambas ). We cooked them later and I must say they were as good as it gets. The shrimp lived up to their name. After reading some reviews I thought the prices would be very high but generally speaking they were not so bad.

Nice fish market where you can buy variety of seafood. Products seems to be fresh. Sellers are helpful and can advise you what to choose to meet your needs. We tried several things on grill, marinated or fried and everything was tasty. Market is rather commercial place which seems to be more like a fancy shop that local market. Prices are higher than in supermarket.

Quite a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood. Prices are high (twice than in supermarkets). We used to buy tuna ( 59 Eur/kg), famous local shrimps "Gamba de Palamos" ( 32 Eur/kg).

Interesting place, great choice of the seafood, the prices look a bit higher but hardly you could find cheap fish anywhere. Worth a visit definitely.

Google
Highly recommendable. Small market selling the most fresh fish and the well known tasty shrimps. Expensive but you pay best top quality, in any case it is worth a visit just to watch the product

The Freshest seafood in the world, alot of it still alive including the squid and even some of the fish!! Unfortunately you pay through the nose for it and some times the prices are more expensive than in the local restaurants! Palamos prawns are delicious but not sure they are worth 5 euro per prawn!! The locals how ever do and are happy to pay the eye watering prices of this fish market. On my visit sea bass was 54 euro per kilo, a small fish weighed about half a kg so around 27 euro per fish!! In the UK seabass of that size normal cost around 7 euro or £6 for comparison. If you have plenty of spare cash and love your seafood you will love Palamos fish market, it's one of the best I've every bben too for apsolute freshness and variety...

All the seafood very fresh from water. Especially red prawns in vivid red. It is not too big but that's can taste original what the prawn is. I can recall my memory as what i ate my country (Asia)has such kind taste of this creature. We ate twice ref prawns within our stay bcz v wanna keep this taste deep in my mind. That's why those red prawns can't eat outside of this area. And I bought a bottle of anchoas

Buy your dinner here, open from 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm, so fresh fish are the best!

Yelp
Or Llotja (as written in Catalan). On my little day trip to Palamos, my friend insisted that I must hang around to check out the fish market. It doesn't open until after the day's catch is hauled in - so at around 4:30, the boats start unloading their hauls. One of the biggest food scandals in the United States lately has been about fish fraud: cheaper fish being sold as their more expensive cousins. But this isn't an issue (fissue?) here. You are getting fresh fish, and it's all whole, so you can see what kind of fish it is (as opposed to the filets or steaks that are sold in American super markets). I'm not the biggest seafood fan, but I was definitely impressed.
