The 17 Best Afternoon Teas In London

"The Ritz is everything you expect it to be. Assuming that you expect gold detailing, faultless service, and silver teapots. The pastries and cakes are particularly good, and if you’ve got an extreme sweet tooth, you’ll be happy to know there’s a cake trolley that’s rolled to your table. It’s easy to get carried away and spend a good couple of hours at the Mayfair spot, and you should. Remember this place for a birthday treat, just keep in mind they’re pretty serious about the dress code." - rianne shlebak, eileen twum

Came here for the Christmas themed afternoon tea. There were four of us. The service was friendly but not as attentive as we would have hoped, we didn't get the additional orders we requested and it took ages for them to get our coats. The food was enjoyable.

Myself and my husband came for some afternoon tea at the Palm Court and honestly, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience here. Firstly our wonderful waitresses Iha and Priyanka were so attentive and always made sure we having a wonderful time, both had radiant energy and made our day really with their amazing service. We had good expectations for this place after it being recommended to us through a friend and I’ll say it didn’t disappoint, the food was delicious, my personal favourite being the salted caramel eclair and the pickled cucumber sandwich, I’ve still been thinking about that sandwich (we asked for extra we enjoyed it that much) it was genuinely a wonderful afternoon tea full of yummy bites and piping hot tea. We couldn’t have been happier <3

Don’t come here with high expectations based on the brand of the hotel. Unlike other afternoon teas I’ve experienced, some priced at the lower end of the £65 they charge here, I was surprised you are given cakes to share. I’m perplexed by this, because if I was dining on my own and paying the same price, would I only be given half of each cake? It appeared that the sandwiches were being made from fresh, as we were offered an apology for the lengthy wait, however once received the edges of the sandwiches were discernibly dry. I had high hopes for this place, but honestly if you’re after a decent afternoon tea experience this is not the one. A distinct lack of service. I can highly recommend the Wellington Lounge at the Intercontinental Park Lane around the corner, or for a real treat, the Corinthia London.

Beautiful art deco space in the Sheraton Grand Park Lane. The servers are very attentive and gracious. Excellent Afternoon Tea with an array of delicious teas from which to choose.

Google
Can't fault this place! We came for my birthday and had the most wonderful experience, on par with the more high end afternoon teas in London but for a fraction of the price. We were served by the wonderful Maria and Driyanka who were extremely attentive and friendly, they are a real credit to the Palm Court. We couldn't fault the food, which was all delicious and beautifully presented. The cherry on top was the very talented musician playing the piano which created a wonderful ambiance. I will certainly be returning and recommending to others!

We loved our first visit for high tea! The staff was excellent and made our visit a special memory. The chef needs to be recognized for the amazing food and its presentation. Thank you Kim and Maria it was a pleasure.

From the moment we arrived, Birat supplied exceptional service. After taking our wet jackets, umbrellas and bags to the clock room , (and returning them later), he made sure we were aware of the history of an afternoon tea, aware of what were eating and had ample beverage supplies. Food was absolutely delicious. A most enjoyable evening.

Staying at the Sheraton Grand for 3 nights. So happy to see some Filipino inspired cocktails on their menu at The Palm Court (Hotel Bar). Great service from Greg and Rommel who provided great advice on London life and what to do around town. Thank you for the hospitality and the service. These guys work pretty much every day so ask for them and be nice!

Yelp
A lovely property conveniently located near Green Park. The staff is courteous and attentive. The rooms look freshly renovated with an attractive art deco theme. Downsides this visit: Only one out of three elevators working. No late night room service, the absence of which means it cannot be rated as 5 stars. No turn down service one night out of three.

Yelp
Justin and Sara are managers and are so very nice and accommodating. Nelson the concierge could not be more helpful and the entire staff was great. The room are large and very comfortable and the hotel is centrally located in London across from the park so walking is easy to get to most locations but taxis are plentiful. This hotel is beautiful with a lounge that is perfect for a quick breakfast of a beverage We visit England every year and would stay nowhere else. You will also enjoy a nice cocktail in the lobby bar in the evening or for high tea in the afternoon.

Yelp
Loved this hotel so much! From the incredible breakfast spread included each morning and the coziness of the lobby where everyone who works there is so warm, I would totally come back to stay. Shoutout to James who served our breakfast and was the sweetest. The room is very nice, too, and the location is amazing - walkable to Covent Garden, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, everywhere. 5 stars!!!

Yelp
After deciding to come back to London for the first time in over four years, I resolved to stay much closer to the action than the last time I was here when I stayed in Regents Park. Ended up picking the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane due to historical nature as well as its proximity to a lot of places and the Tube! Even though this is a near-100 year old hotel, you can tell they have put some serious work into keeping it renovated and up-to-date. Just walking into the lobby makes you feel like you're walking into some serious Mayfair high life. I knew immediately that I made the right choice picking this hotel. I was fortunate enough to be updated to a club room. Very comfortable and spacious room, which is no guarantee in London. Had plenty of space to relax. Bed was very comfortable. Had a nice table where I could use my computer and watch TV. There was a couch in the room where I could lounge. And this bathroom...wow! It's completely made of marble and by far one of the nicest hotel bathrooms I've been in. Only nitpicking I can make is that opening the bathroom door blocks your view of the shower. I didn't even realize the shower was there until I closed the door! Other great part of this hotel is the lounge which is for Platinum members or higher. They have food at all times of the day, which was perfect for me as I needed to hit the breakfast on one of my days here. They said it was continental, but if their idea of continental is a full breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, bacon, and a bunch of other stuff, then sure I'll take it. Other than that, it was a great place to chill and get snacks at random times of the day. As I said earlier, location was a major factor in me picking this hotel. It's on Piccadilly, which is a quick walk to significant landmarks such as Fortnum & Mason and Piccadilly Circus. Additionally, Green Park is across the street, so you can walk to Buckingham Palace in no time. It's also within reasonable walking distance to Bond Street, which has Selfridges. And the Green Park tube station is a quick walk from the hotel. Location-wise, this hotel cannot be beat. Did not hit the gym since I was on vacation, but I did see there was a fairly nice gym here. Overall, I am pretty sure I have found my new home base of operations every time I come to London. You definitely get your money's worth with the Sheraron Grand London Park Lane!

Yelp
Our recent UK visit started in London & we chose to stay at the Sheraton Grand because of the location. Quieter than Picadilly but close enough to walk there & to other favorite destinations: Fortnum & Masons, Burlington Arcade, Harrods, Selfridges, the Wolseley. Green Park is across the street & a quick jaunt through you find yourself in front of Buckingham Palace. We stayed in the Grand Park View Suite and it was amazing! Gorgeous views of the park from the living & dining rooms. The suite is a bit above 750 square feet & beautifully appointed. The bedroom had large closets along one wall, the bed was very comfortable, the linens & towels top notch. The bathroom was large with a japanese style toilet. The hotel lobby is grand, decorated art deco. Plenty of places to sit & talk, eat & the bar is well appointed. The club room is located on the ground level & rather large with plenty of seating. The food they served was delicious with the staff contstantly replenishing the food & drinks. The bar area was self serve. We ate all of our breakfasts here & the selection had everything from hummus, olives, smoked fish, artisan cheeses & breads, eggs, english bacon, sausage, several juices & coffee. We also enjoyed drinks & afternoon tea. The staff were very nice, helpful, respectful & discreet w/out being too ass-kissy. We really enjoyed our stay & will definitely be back!

Yelp
While in London my wife and I had the extreme and satisfying Hotel stays we've ever experienced at the Sheraton Grande London Park Lane. This accommodation located in the heart of Mayfair was not only in the hub of central London making for easy walks and/or cab rides but was an extraordinary lodging overall. From the Hospitality Staff to the Housekeeping Staff, from Management Staff to Front Desk Staff, we were amazed and very pleased with their attention to detail, service and overall amazing expression of class, elegance and charm. The 1920s appealing as it is exuberantly nostalgic. Along with the extraordinary service, the care and attention to detail and the guest's needs and desires were as gracious as they were comforting. From the fabulous rooms with every amenity more than needed, to the nightcap in the lounge, to the tea at the Palm court, the incredible foods at their restaurants were as close to magnificent as one would aspire. Within the confines one can find the admirable Smith & Whistle to quench your thirst, the Caffe Musetti to keep your appetite at bay, the Palm Court for afternoon tea, and the refined Mercante for exquisite dinners! Having the opportunity to regularly stay over many accommodations across the U.S. and occasionally outside the country, and not a professional hotel reviewer by any means, and not a regular business traveler - but as mostly pleasure and needs traveler, I have developed as what I believe is my concise method for scoring the worthiness of each hotel visited. My criteria are as follows and the results are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score:5.0]; 2) convenient and safe parking [Score: N/A]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score:5.0]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-Fi access [Score:4.5]; 5) overall customer service - including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, Concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor of staff [Score:5.0]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities (i.e., ironing board, iron, TV, charging access, phone, et.al.) and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe and/or valet services [Score:5.0]; Taking all the aforementioned categories in a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel is rated a: 5.9. I believe the highest I've offered. Most positive points at this hotel are: the incredible staff, the luxurious surrounds, décor and design extraordinaire, and just overall comfort and indulgence. Most negative points found here are: actually none. My price to value to overall assessment: simply magnificent! You get more than what you pay for. Kudos to everyone at this magnificent hotel for making our stay in London bloody wonderful and a must on our return to gobsmacked again!

Yelp
This was our second stay at this Sheraton... Staff is still truly amazing. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. The Club Room is great and we utilized it daily. The hotel room itself had many issues: the heater didn't work the first night and the room was absolutely freezing. An engineer came the next day to fix it which was appreciated. Other issues include a leaky sink a bathroom window that wouldn't close, and a ripped duvet cover. Overall I like this hotel and it's proximity to everything, but would when paying GBP 550+ per night I would expect a near flawless experience. I'm not sure we'd stay here again.

Yelp
This was our first time in London and I'm so glad we chose to stay here. The staff is friendly and so helpful. We were able to walk to the west end for a show & to sightsee at the Buckingham Palace and SoHo. We used a taxi to go to the British Museum and Churchill war rooms. The fitness room has everything you need from cardio equipment to free weights to techno gym equipment. The club lounge is well stocked and offers food and drinks three times a day. Would definitely recommend this place and come back. Our room was small but comfortable.

Yelp
We recently spent 5 nights at The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane and were happy to have received an upgrade. The room was nicely decorated and spotless. I cannot say enough about the staff. All were so attentive, professional and friendly. The upgraded access to the Executive Room was also an added plus. There they served breakfast, tea and appetizers with drinks. We were very spoiled. One employee in particular stood out: Fillipo the Concierge was exceptional. He helped us with restaurant reservations including to a newly opened Italian restaurant Pinna in the Mayfair area. The Sardinian cuisine was very good and we were treated with a complimentary Prosecco because of the reservation made by Fillipo. Very nice touch. The hotel made our stay in London perfect!

Yelp
Been staying here for years - probably more than 15 visits since 2020. The location is unbeatable and the place is very comfortable. Like all old, refitted hotels it has its quirks. Lifts are a challenge - very few, small, slow, and often not working. This can be problematic if you are on a high floor as you will be spending a lot of your stay waiting for one. We always request a low floor so we can take the stairs. When you arrive in London on a morning flight you deal with the PM check-in scenario (rooms are not guaranteed ready until 3PM). This is OK, but be careful, many times we have been forgotten and no one has notified us of our room being ready. The members lounge is a bit crazy at times, but the hotel has no control over guests' poor manners and poorly behaved kids. That said, the lounge breakfast is comparable to the very expensive breakfast being served in the dining room, so if you can tolerate the rudeness of fellow guests and their kids, you'll save some money grabbing breakfast in the lounge. Staff at the restaurant BTW are excellent. Rooms can be small and the bathrooms - like a refitted old hotel - can be a bit quirky. We have had challenges during longer stays with the lack of furniture in the rooms - no dressers with drawers to unpack. This past Christmas we had them move extra nightstands into the room so we'd have some place to put our clothes. Head out the back door to find a bunch of nice dining spots on the back streets of Mayfair. This is home away from home for us.

R H.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed. American Express Platinum has this as part of their "Collection Hotels". Our experience has been less than stellar. Staff is rude and unengaging. Service poor. For instance, upon arrival no bellman to help us with luggage, 5 bags we had to unload and drag up steps ourselves. Room not ready as promised.. waited 4 hours. Rooms small and clean. Fellow who took us to room was unaware of the basics. For instance how and where thermostat was located or where safe was located. I asked to speak with manager. Gave my name and request at front desk. Have never heard a word.. and I'm still at hotel. I think there are many choices in London for lodging, while this location is excellent, the service is sub par. I would consider somewhere else. Update: on checkout today, could not get anyone to help with luggage. Calls went unanswered. Dragged 4 bags out ourselves.

Yelp
This review is not based on an overnight stay but purely on a business meeting with a visitor from the US. Knowing him if the hotel and rooms were not 5 stars then he and his wife would NOT be staying! We met in the guest lounge (free when you stay and have status like him) which was spotless, classy and welcoming. Better than my recent experience with Hilton's and Marriotts of late (I have elite status at both) - although this hotel is now Bonboy so I could get access too I guess! Anyway - everything about the hotel that I saw was definitely 5 star from the bar to the restaurant, the doormen and more. My cafe lattes and fresh bread rolls, smoked salmon and Brie cheese were all perfect Definitely considering your next visit (price shop though!) Review #67 2019

Yelp
This is a review for the tea service in the lobby. We had an absolute lovely tea here yesterday. Every course was delicious. The tea sandwiches were the best I'd ever had. We got the non-vegetarian option. We had excellent service as well. They had an excellent selection of teas which we were able to try a few. It's also a great location to Hyde Park and close to the city bus stop. We will definitely be back next time we're in London.

Kelly H.

Yelp
Just can't say enough good things about our stay at the Park Lane. First, close to Buckingham Palace and access to all sights within the city whether walking or taking the Tube. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. The bartender, "Rommel", was awesome. His mixology ability for any kind of drink was impressive. His take on the Classic Martini was as good as the one we had at Duke's, and he was 10X more friendly and hospitable. Use that as a reference. The Concierge (Jaimie) and the Door Staff (Patrick and Luis) were also wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly. They all contributed to our great 4 day stay in London.

Erwin Y.

Yelp
Scott at concierge desk was extremely helpful in getting us hard to get dinner reservations and advice on London. Mantas , Albania and Justin at the hotel lounge were fantastic! They were attentive to our every request. Whenever we needed something at lounge they were there to help us. They were the BEST!...5 Stars!!!

Mira C.

Yelp
Loved staying at this hotel!! Rooms were beautiful, restaurants spectacular, friendly staff and fabulous location! Were were here for 4 nights, were within walking distance of Kensington palace, Buckingham Palace, Harrods and much more, Only negative comment we have is we stayed on the first floor, above the lobby and could hear the constant noise of a door thudding close. We believe it was a kitchen door that just echoed through. Our room was next to the stairs so perhaps this was part of the problem?

Yelp
This is a review for the high tea. It was VERY good. The ambience was high brow and all of the staff were so polite and really made you feel like a guest of honor. The food was really delicious. It was the traditional tea sandwiches, scones, and small desserts. Our server asked us if we wanted more sandwiches as well (it didn't seem like there would be an additional charge but I'm not sure). The tea was very high quality, too. I had gen mai cha and my partner had rooibos tiramisu. You might want to wear a nice sweater or blazer to feel appropriately dressed, but I was in a simple t-shirt and nice Nike zip-up and wasn't made to feel uncomfortable or underdressed. It's a bit spendy and £55, but I'd say worth it. Shout out to server Efren who was our amazing server!

Chuck S.

Yelp
This hotel was very accommodating. The service was excellent. Rooms are a bit dated, but clean. The staff was helpful and wow, what a location! A bisctshoutboutcto Rommel, the bartender who served my husband chocolate ice cream every night!

Yelp
Had a great time staying at the Sheraton for the London Marathon! Spacious room, comfortable bed, and my +1 really enjoyed having access to the lounge for afternoon tea and the restaurant for breakfast. The bath towels were the biggest I've seen ! You can wrap yourself in them like a toga. The staff are incredibly helpful and I found their recommendations for attractions and dining superb

Yelp
Stayed here for one night. Since flight landed at Gatwick took the Gatwick Express train to Victoria station and then the tube to get to Green Park station. Get off of north exit and then head right (away from the Ritz) once you pass the Japan embassy the hotel is right there. Pretty easy location to take the bus and also walk to Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and the Eye. The bus goes to Piccadilly Circus and it was only 1.50£. Concierge said to take anything but the 9 and 22c to get there. Lots of shopping and restaurants. The room was decently sized and I was put into a Club floor with Platinum status. The bed was really comfortable and there was a small couch that was good. I liked that they had USB charging plugs already which made things easier. The only thing is that there wasn't a plug in the restroom and since the restroom doesn't have any air it could get very cold. The club lounge is in on the first floor and they have breakfast till 11am in the morning, afternoon tea at 2:30pm, and "happy hour" at 5:30pm. The concierge and staff were really friendly here. I would stay here again.

Yelp
Stayed here 4 nights in Sept. right after the Queen passed and the area was observing her passing so traffic with all the visitors and streets being blocked off nearby made the streets around the hotel congested and difficult to walk around and impossible to get an Uber. Check in was great. The hotel has 2 sides of entry. The side that the navigation will take you to is facing Hyde Park and there was no friendly drop off passenger zone. But once we entered the hotel with our luggage in tow, a bellman came right over to help me with bags and guide me to the otherside of the building to the reception and checkin desk. From there it was smooth. The hotel front desk got me checked in quickly and since we arrived at 10am, our room wasn't available yet ( I didn't expect it to be) but nevertheless, Bonvoy Platinum got us access to the lounge and we had free breakfast. Thank you Sheraton for the welcome. We got to recover a bit from the long flight. Our room was ready a few hours later and had a nice sized room with 2 larger twin beds. The room was stocked with an electric kettle and Nespresso machine. Bathroom was a nice bath tub and separate shower. Separate sink and toilet. My biggest disappointment was the lack of hot water. Couldn't have a nice hot bath. I am not a complainer so didn't bother complaining to the hotel. I enjoyed the close proximity to Fortnum and Mason. We rode the Bigbus tourbus ( although the stop is normally close to the hotel, Green Park was closed due to the Queen's funeral preparations) so we had quite a bit more walking than we had planned. Chinatown was about a 15 mins walk. The first Hard Rock Cafe in the world is right down the block so had dinner there one night. Overall, really great location. The lounge had a machine that made lattes, cappuccinos and coffee, the food bar had premade eggs and sausage, sometimes "bacon" and the other common stuff like breads and pastries and side salad type of stuff. You can ask the staff to make you oatmeal since they don't put it out. I'm not sure what else they will make bc no one told us and there were no signs. It was very self serve but staff bussed the tables frequently. Lounge was nice and clean and stocked. I never had the chance to go for apps and there is no bar so self serve alcohol. Biggest downsides of the room: poor channel selection on tv and don't understand why but the beds were on wheels that weren't locked down so the mattresses constantly slid around and away from the wall/ head board. We ended up jamming a chair against one of the beds to prevent sliding and falling off. Staff here were very welcoming, always saying hello and polite. On our day of departure, the doorman helped us get a black cab and helped us with our luggage. That's the kind of service so many hotels are missing nowadays. Tips for everyone who provide service! After this, We went to Paris and stayed at the Westin and it was the opposite attitude from the Bellmen/ doormen. I haven't traveled to Europe in 30 years so not sure if this was par or not. I have had some great Sheraton stays: Waikiki and San Diego and now London!

Yelp
We are Bonvoy Titanium members and recently stayed here four four days. The location is fantastic--close to several tube lines, parks, shopping, and the theatre district. The executive lounge is justifiably rated one of the best in London. It's spacious, clean, and offers a good selection of food and drink. Our room was large, well-maintained, and nicely appointed for the brand. The decor includes many old, authentic art deco touches. The front desk and bellman were always friendly, fast, and on-point with service. Keep in mind that historic means the shower will take a few minutes before getting nice and hot and the pipes can make noise in the morning as the entire hotel swings into gear. Overall, an excellent stay and a really good choice in London.

Lisa Y.

Yelp
Our extended family recently vacationed in London, England. We stayed at The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane. Everyone at the hotel was polite, well informed, and helpful. A very special thank you to " Virag " in The Club Lounge, who went out of her way every morning to help us begin a wonderful day. The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane is spotlessly clean and very well organized.

Yelp
We stayed at the Sheraton Park Lane hotel for one night in March. We arrived at 2:30pm. We took the tube from Heathrow airport and arrived hoping to get straight into a room. Check in time is 3pm but we didn't get into our room until 4pm. We did receive an upgraded room, but that was because we are Platinum Sheraton members. We were given one round of free drinks at the Palm Court bar, but that really doesn't make up for a 90 minute delay. The lobby is small and there are very few places to sit (while waiting for family members to check in). When entering the hotel from the Park side (which absolutely feels like the most used and recognizable side) you have to drag your bags through the Palm Court restaurant. There are NO ramps into and out of the sunken restaurant/lounge, so you end up dragging bags DOWN then UP stairs all the while passing people having afternoon tea. It is such a bizarre set up. There are NO bellmen to meet you at the entrance. I thought we must have missed a sign or just been unusual in our choice of entrance. While staying at the hotel for 36 hours, I saw numerous others have to deal with the same awkward situation. Also, who wants to have afternoon tea with weary travelers lugging their bags through the tea room? The room: The room had a single queen size bed (very comfy!). Our third adult had to sleep on a sleeper sofa (you could feel the bars through it). Our room was clean and had probably been redone recently (compared to the other reviews on this site, we must have gotten a new room). Our room was on the 7th floor and faced the park, the eye, Big Ben, etc... It was a spectacular view. The room was classified as a suite, but it had NO tea/coffee making services. We had to call down to get a tea making service (2 pound delivery charge). Be careful... the shower is SUPER slippery and the tub has very high sides (hard to get in/out of). Transportation to hotel: If you are coming from Heathrow, do not waste your money on the Heathrow express! The underground (on the Piccadilly line) takes you directly from Heathrow to the Green Park exit (just a 5 min walk to the hotel). If you take the Heathrow express, then you move fast and have fewer stops BUT you have to change trains! So, don't take it. Just take the tube. It's about 4 pounds per person for a single. When you are moving about the city, purchase a day pass (about 7 pounds) and you can use the tube all day. You can also purchase a 24 hour pass onto the tour bus (there are a few different ones). You can hop on and off as much as you want throughout the day. The tour buses stop at most of the major attractions. You can easily walk to Buckingham Palace from the hotel (changing of the guard every other day). You can also easily walk to the Marble Arch. Everything else is easily accessible by tube or bus. This hotel is expertly located in the city, but it does NOT feel like a 5 star hotel. It feels like an old hotel with a great location. Check in wasn't impressive but the concierge was excellent. He always greeted me with a smile (even the 6 times I bugged him during our 90 minute wait for a room). I'd recommend this hotel because of its location but it costs too much for what it is.

Paul M.

Yelp
We had afternoon tea here. It is on the expensive end but the experience was worth it. Their selection of teas were fantastic and the service was excellent. Food was good too but the highlight was the tea. Went with kids 13-15 years old and everyone loved it

Caroline P.

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Sheraton, the gentlemen at the concierge were very informative and friendly and Mantas at the Sheraton club did great to maintain the cleanliness of the space along with welcoming us in the mornings. Thank you to everyone!

Yelp
Great hotel. Just a short walk to green park station. On Piccadilly, so close to good restaurants, fortnam and mason, and there is a Pret A Manger and M/S grocery nearby to get coffee or pastries. The Mercant restaurant attached was good and hospitable. Friend I was dining with did not feel well and left dinner early. They sent up a lemon ginger tea to the room to make him feel better. Star class service.

Yelp
Nice hotel - had the lounge access and took tube from airport. Staff is top notch - doors are always opened for you and you will always be greeted with a smile. I arrived wearing airplane clothes (gym type) and was treated as if I was wearing a tuxedo. Club room was ok. Shower is weird, difficult to figure out, and pressure terrible. My view on the 7th floor was the building next door. Pillows weren't firm at all. Location is fantastic. Right downtown, close to restaurants and tourist spots. Very walkable to Leicester square, Trafalgar square, SoHo, Hyde Park, Buck House, etc. Very easy to get to from Heathrow (right off Piccadilly line). Lounge is nice. Quiet and we'll stocked. Open Bar closes at 9 which is... Understandable, but strange. I guess small glass water bottles are a thing? I drank 10 each night and just wanted a large bottle to take up. Breakfast is the same everyday but I love sausages and English bacon so I can't complain. Had I not had lounge access, I'd say this hotel wasn't worth the money unless you need to/want to be in the middle of things. It's nice but if you had to pay for everything else and had a worse room than mine - it's just not my thing. Staff was top notch though and I'd give them 5 stars if this review was based only on that (did I say that already?).

Yelp
I travel to London frequently for work and am also a Starwood SPG Platinum Elite. The first time I stayed this hotel, I was upgraded to a really nice suite facing Green Park (high five)! The second time I was upgraded to a room that was not so nice but still really good, but I can't expect the best every time. I heard that this hotel was recently remodeled, though I can't confirm since I only started staying here in 2018. I really like the decor in the rooms and appreciate that they are extra clean. The lounge is OK, but much better than the Le Méridien down the road. Although, the breakfast could be improved by offering more vegetarian and vegan friendly options...even just potatoes...anything! I felt like the breakfast was all meat, eggs, and cheese. A complete no-go for me. This location is much better for me because it's in Mayfair right by Green Park and Hyde Park, both excellent parks to run in. Although, the trade off here is that it's farther from SoHo, Covent Garden, and Piccadilly. I like that its quiet here and less crazy than Piccadilly Circus.

Yelp
Great location, meh hotel, bad customer service. We had a great time in London and will be coming back, but staying elsewhere. This hotel was great in theory. The location is good, the lobby is pretty, the room is nicely decorated, but there were a lot of issues. The room was TINY, the TV sucked (How can a TV suck? Well, this one did. Trust me.), and the management tried to rip us off with our laundry (like...£214 more than we were quoted!) and they were a huge pain to deal with when we were trying to figure it out. Giulia was great, and she and Eleni did end up helping us, but it took about 5 phone calls with different people to get to them. There are so many other hotels in London, you can find better.

Yelp
We've been here two days so far out of our 8 days we have planned. We are underwhelmed. For a category six hotel there is much ado about, well, nothing. The hotel is very fancy and posh but the room is dinky (215 sq ft) and although it is very nice it lacks some basic amenities like a hook for your towel and sufficient drawer space. Fake drawer fronts in the desk and one of the nightstand drawers. There is quite a nice wardrobe but it has only two very small drawers. There is good hanging space. Even with just two of us, we're overflowing a bit. The staff is helpful to a point but not overly friendly. Their staff is made up of more French than British as far as guest relations go. They haven't been the best to deal with. The continental buffet (pastries, cold cereal, cold cuts, toast, boiled eggs) is £20. With full English Breakfast it is £25. Everything was quite good. Free if you have Platinum SPG Membership. (We are usually afforded this privilege and Club Floor upgrades with our Gold Membership but not here apparently). Overall I would not recommend this hotel. Even though its fancy, clean and in a fabulous location, it lacks warmth and a basic hospitality I've come to expect from my Starwood brand. This hotel is also still undergoing renovations. Hope that helps my fellow yelpers. I also uploaded several pictures as most of the ones here were out of date.

Yelp
Our vacation in London was made even better by our stay at the Sheraton Grande London Park Lane. My BF, a SPG member, booked this hotel due to its proximity to many local attractions. We took the Tube from King's Cross to Green Park, and it was less than a 5 minute walk from the station to the hotel. Very convenient! We had an Art Deco suite, which comes with a separate living area. The room was very spacious and overlooked Green Park, with a view of the London skyline. There was a side table by the door with a Nespresso machine, electric kettle, and complimentary daily bottled water. We had a huge closet with bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom had a bidet, rainfall shower, and freestanding bathtub, along with Molton Brown amenities. We even had use of a complimentary 'Handy' Samsung phone with unlimited data and local calls, which was very handy (aptly named) indeed for our explorations around London. Additionally, we had access to the Sheraton Club Lounge which offers complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea hors d'oeuvres, and complimentary drinks. At the end of every busy and cold day, it was so nice to be able to come back to this hotel and relax. The room was always clean and restocked with amenities. Not to mention, they even had a lovely chocolate cake with strawberries prepared for my BF's birthday when we walked into our room on the first day. There was even a handwritten note from the manager and two glasses of champagne. The Sheraton Grande London Park Lane is a stone's throw from Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, and St. James's Park. It's a 20-minute walk to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the London Eye, and to the heart of Soho. Very convenient to everything we wanted to see and do in London. Impeccable service. Comfortable rooms. Staying here was Christmas come early.

Yelp
Very disappointed overall. The hotel is in great location. Clean and modern. Bathroom lack of hot water. Doorman does not smile nor open the door Front desk snobby Room service is great, food is good. I expect more because it is a five stars hotel. Will not consider to stay again.

Yelp
So I wanted a traditional tea and this included champagne. We were celebrating my daughter's graduation on this trip, so this was a splurge day. I think for two is was 120 pounds. We could have had endless of all items served, which we did not over do it. It was lovely all and all, and our glasses were never empty! Service was good. I do think I could have found a similar tea for a more manageable price, less I learned do more research. I still recommend this location and tea experience.

Yelp
I loved my stay at this hotel and would give it ten stars if I could. I had a rough start to my trip with my original flight being cancelled. My new flight brought me to London about 12 hours later than anticipated and very very tired. The welcome I received was great at the reception desk. The night concierge was wonderful as well. I had read some bad reviews when I booked so was a little concerned but most of those seemed to be about the ongoing construction in the hotel. I'm so glad I decided on this hotel. But the construction didn't impact my stay at all besides just having the one elevator. My room was on the Preferred Guest Floor so that was very nice as lately when I redeem the points I've saved, I've been given poor quality rooms. The room was on the smaller side so there wasn't much room to get my suitcase from one side of the bed to the other as it was a very narrow space. But I found enough space to open up the suitcase. The renovations are great. From the ceiling to the built in shelves. This room was so elegant. The room exceeded my expectations. Even though the room was smaller, it was well laid out. There was a large flat screen tv, the king bed, a desk, table and chairs. So it was comfortable in the room. There was also a mini bar. The mirrors also made it appear larger. The bathroom was beautiful with the black and white tiles. I am a fan of black and white so that design selection appealed to me. The bathroom was bigger than it initially looked as well. The shower was huge. Toiletries were also provided. I declined housekeeping during my stay with the green choice program but they were still nice enough to bring me the complimentary water each day. Speaking of housekeeping, my room was spotless. I didn't find any dirt or dust and I thoroughly checked. They do an amazing job! The shower has an overhead and a handheld option. But I couldn't figure it out on very little sleep. So the next day when I mentioned it at the front desk, someone was sent up to the room within 5 minutes and politely explained to me how to get it to work. I didn't have much of an appetite while in London so when I went down to breakfast, I saw it was a buffet and knew that would be too much food for me. So they worked it out for me to order from the room service menu. I thought there was very nice of them. Both concierges deserve a shout out too. They treated me so well during my shorter than anticipated stay. Having lost my first day there, and still wanting to three days worth of things in two days they were very helpful in how I could get places quicker and with the bus routes. They work twelve hour shifts and were as cheerful and polite the moment they started to the end of the shift. I was treated better than I expected here. The staff is great and always greeted me kindly whenever I asked any of my many questions. This is a fabulous hotel in London and helped with the rough start to my trip. So many times during my stops in other cities, did I wish I was still in my London hotel. I will definitely be staying at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel on my return to London. This hotel has figured out how to provide amazing customer service and how to get guests to want to return again and again.

Yelp
Sis and I stayed here on our last day ... The entrance to the hotel is in the back, at least where the cab dropped us off... which was a bit weird. Upon walking into our room... it seemed like it was remodeled to some extent... but sis and I figured that our room used to be a "smoking" room... because it leaked / smelled. The bathroom was spacious but it smelled... they have a bidet... which my sis and I opted not to use... it's just weird especially its in the hotel. The shower wasn't as nice as the W in Paris... but who am I to complain? =) Overall... definitely a place for smokers or someone who isn't sensitive to smell... its old and it smells... so be careful...

Yelp
There seems to be a trend here of Americans staying at this hotel on Starwood points. Maybe that is why my room (booked the same way) was on floor #1 with a view of a wall and buzzing ventilation shafts right outside the window. It could also have to do with the fact that it was the same week as Wimbledon, the first of this years Royal Garden Parties at the Palace, and several other large events. The hotel was completely sold out (as were most in the area) and the staff seemed to be struggling to meet the demands of a full house. And the full house meant no Starwood Gold room upgrade. I did get free bottled water though. The entire time the staff remained friendly and attentive. They did move us to a room on the 6th floor the next day (though not until 6:00 pm). The new room was slightly smaller, but quieter - well worth the trade - and the view from the new room was of a nicer wall. Also, the second room had a warmer, more comfortable feel to it even though it was slight smaller. The bed was quite comfortable, the shower worked well, and the elevators didn't take too long to arrive. What else do you need? An interesting quirk, if you wanted the iron to go with the ironing board in your room, you had to call for the iron. If you wanted the complimentary coffee/tea set, you had to call for that too. Also, the air conditioning is a stand-alone unit in the room - and it was definitely needed this week. Overall, I am happy with the hotel. The 12K starwood points per night isn't too bad - especially when the Park Tower is 20K per night. The location and surrounding area is pretty good - across the street from Green park, by Hyde Park, and surrounded by nice places that are easy to walk to - Nobu, The Dorchester, El Pirata, and even the Playboy Club (next time). It's an easy walk to 2 tube stops and taxi's come fairly quickly. oh - the Internet access is 15 GBP for 24 hours (ouch). but if you go to the bar downstairs and get a drink, you get 1 hour for free. So this time they get 4 stars (but it probably would have been only 3 if we were stuck in that first room).

Yelp
I initially was going to give this hotel 3 stars, but after an absolutely wretched stay at the shabby Hilton Olympia, I realized just how good the Sheraton is compared to other London hotels. You can't really expect quality for your money in London. Like NY and Rome, high rent and guaranteed tourists mean that you pay much more for less compared to other cities. The prices here are fairly high (although I won't complain, because I redeemed reward points for my night) and you don't get the luxury for the price that you might expect elsewhere. But your stay at the Sheraton will be comfortable, the location is perfect, and the very helpful and friendly staff will make your trip easy. The location is great--the Park Lane is in upscale Mayfair, a few blocks from all the West End theatres, Buckingham Palce, Hyde Park. I really don't think you could ask for a nicer, more pleasant neighborhood to be based in during your London stay. The décor is nice, although the hotel could use some updating and renovating. The bed is extremely comfortable. The bathroom is small. It's a shame that the Sheraton, like most first and second tier hotels, doesn't offer free wireless. Why is it that budget hotels like the Holiday Inn Express offer all sorts of free amenities (wireless! a cinnamon roll!) but if you pay $300 a night for a room, you'll be nickel and dimed for anything additional. You even have to pay to use the internet in the business center. I'd recommend going up the street a block or two to use the free wireless at the Pret a Manger, instead.

Yelp
Stayed at the Sheraton Park Lane for five nights in January 2016. Given that the hotel is under renovation, I understand the other reviewers' concerns about the condition of the rooms, amenities, etc. However, as an SPG member, I was upgraded to a renovated Superior Room and had no complaints. Upon our arrival, the staff was welcoming and courteous; in addition to the upgrade, we were given a voucher for free drinks at the Smith and Whistle, the hotel's adjacent bar, which we redeemed on our last night. (The bar is elegant and stylishly decorated, with interesting cocktails and attentive staff, but was empty the night we went.) Our room was on the sixth floor and didn't have much of a view, but it was quite spacious. As one of the newly renovated rooms, this one looked like it had brand new furniture and fixtures, including the marble bathroom. Everything was clean and in good working order. The wifi (free for SPG Gold members) is reliable and relatively fast. Although I opted for the Green Choice (which declines housekeeping in exchange for SPG points or food vouchers), the housekeeping service was kind enough to restock the room with water, toiletries, and fresh towels. The service was really top-notch. Although there was no business center (presumably as part of the renovation), there is a computer station in the lobby where I was able to print out my boarding pass. If I had to nitpick, it was inconvenient to have to take the service elevator all the time. There was one other elevator, but it was sooooo far from our room. I know, #firstworldproblems. That's why this is nitpicking territory. Also, because of the renovation, the lobby area, while beautiful with its gilded walls and chandeliers, felt dark, empty and not very welcoming. The gym was also closed during the renovation, which was not a huge deal for this trip, but it would have been nice to have the facilities. Once the renovation is done, this place will be five stars for sure.

Yelp
I've been a Starwood members for 5 + years in the U.S and this Sheraton made American hotel services look pathetic. I stayed here 6 nights earlier this year in January, it was definitely one of the most bougiest hotels I've ever stayed at and its way better than a W Hotel and or Luxury one from the Starwood brand. Its walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, SoHo, and about a 15 min walk from the famous, Oxford Street. While the rooms were a bit smaller, the in room benefits and bathroom poshness def overcompensated for it. This hotel provides a free 4g Android phone to use during your stay (unlimited data). The gym was really nice, it was in the basement floor and it was well kept, with plentiful of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment. For my welcome gift, they gave me a bottle of champagne but when I told them I didn't drink they gave me the "high tea" package which is usually served downstairs in the dining area for free. The front desk and concierge service were genuinely happy to have you there and went above and beyond to help you in any way they could. Here in the States they just check you in and you are basically off to your room with the staff trying to up sell you on everything but there was class here and they didn't need to shove that in your face. I will definitely make this my go to hotel whenever I visit London. Christmas 2017?

Yelp
I "used to" stay here, but no more. I have to agree with Cheri A G. Not only the lobby, but also the hallway and rooms smell, too. I always got their suite, but...it's old and smelly. Not classic old, it's just old. One time, I tried to turn on A/C (was surprised to see they had A/C in such an old hotel), but it was too loud and I could not hear my TV. The marble bathroom is humongous - it's probably the size of standard hotel room in New York. The location is good and convenient - there are a couple of pubs nearby within walking distance. If they do decent renovation job, it would be a really nice hotel though...

Yelp
My room was much bigger than the W London. Plus plus plus! I feel like I can actually breathe more here. But to be fair, I did upgrade to a suite, so it was bigger. There was a separate living room that I never really stepped into, but I like that both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious. The hotel staff was ok... Comparing to the W London, the staff was definitely not as friendly or helpful - very unfortunate in my opinion. According to my British friends, the Park Lane is a nice hotel, in a good / wealthy area. I have to say, I do feel safe at night but at the same time things close early here. The area is not as lively as the area by W London. The location seems to cater to different crowds. The breakfast here (Brucewells, I believe) was ok. Not amazing but not terrible. I did find it odd that the entrance to the hotel on Piccadilly Street / Road is actually the back entrance. You have to go into a small street to get to the front entrance of the hotel. I do like the outside of the hotel on the Piccadilly side, nicely constructed and decorated.

Yelp
Love Love Love our room! Very spacious and the breakfast and happy hour were really good... Key: tip your servers daily. It makes a huge difference..

Yelp
Very clean, fancy hotel with friendly service. Location is really good, off Piccadilly right across from the park and 10 minutes walking to Buckingham Palace. Also it's walkable to good restaurants and shopping. We had access to the Club, which had a very nice breakfast selection, newspapers, and a printer. (Tip: press the green button to exit lol. I was stuck inside.) The rooms are tight bc you're in central London. But the beds are clean and comfortable. The Samsung phone that was provided with the room wasn't working somehow - I couldn't get it off the page it was frozen on. The wifi access was denied until I called the front desk and they had to activate or reset it and then it worked. Minor inconveniences, but inconveniences nevertheless.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for the first stop our honeymoon. Compared to the following two hotels, this was a disappointing experience. I advise future travelers to avoid. Short Version: 1. Room was not fully cleaned on arrival. Floor had dirt, mud, and debris. Clearly not vacuumed. 2. Shower leaked heavily onto floor creating large puddles (2-3 ft) within 5-10min of being turned on. 3. On flush, toilet splashed dirty water 1-2 ft in front of toilet. 4. Mold in the kettle supplied in room 5. Management promises to fix issues were not followed up on. Required call to corporate office before any fixes in place. Details: This was the first of a 3-stop trip my wife and I took for our honeymoon. My first time in Europe, and while London was amazing, this hotel was quite disappointing. Small room issues can be forgiven, but when management promised multiple times to fix things and nothing was done, we were quite disappointed. The hotels in Geneva and Paris were amazing even though they were less expensive and had fewer stars. 1. On arrival we could tell the floor looked a bit dirty, but accepted it as it wasn't too bad. However, on our third day after being out from 9AM until 6PM, we arrived to find the room hadn't been cleaned at all. Bed unmade, wet towels on floor, etc. 2. After the first shower, we noticed a large puddle on the bathroom floor We had to mop up with the few towels we had. Even trying to direct shower head as far away from the edge of the shower had little impact. I took a photo of the puddle after a less than 10min shower. Mentioned issue to management and even though a fix was promised, nothing was done the entire stay. 3. My wife had an unwelcome surprise when she flushed the toilet and felt cold water splash against her legs. The toilet will splash about a distance of 1-2 feet onto floor if lid is up. While it was a small amount, any amount of dirty toilet water is unacceptable. 4. One morning I attempted to make tea before we left, and found a green/grey growth of mold around the inside of the kettle. I photographed this and took the kettle to concierge for cleaning and replacement. 5. Issues raised to management on two occasions with promise of quick resolution. Neither time was anything done or even a note of apology provided. Only after we raised issues with corporate office on the fourth day did we see any action. This seems to be a pattern with this hotel recently based on other reviews we have seen. Other issues: Broken glass and ceramic on floor outside room door from the service elevator outside room. Internet provided by hotel stopped working. It required multiple calls when we kept getting promised it would be fixed within 15-20min but no fix provided.

Yelp
This particular hotel is in such a beautiful, vintage building. When I stepped foot inside the hotel, it felt I traveled back in time to the 1920's. Marble floors, dark wooden walls, silk wallpapers, and gold embellishments made the entrance pop. I was there for a wedding function. Everyone ther was nice and helpful. I would definitely come back for afternoon tea in the future.

Yelp
This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. It is truly a five-star hotel and you will feel (and be treated) like British royalty. The Palm Court is breathtaking and afternoon tea is a must. When you dream of a storybook grand hotel, it's the Park Lane Hotel! The hotel was built in 1927 in the Art Deco style. This hotel has everything. Great food, grand decor and location, location, location! It's in in the heart of London Mayfair, facing Green Park and just a short walk away from Buckingham Palace, The Park Lane Hotel is ideally located to connect with the city of London. The hotel's steel frame was erected before the beginning of World War I, but construction was abandoned due to a lack of financing. The property was completed in 1927 by Sir Bracewell Smith. The building is a fine example with a mansard roof and Portland stone facade. The building is Grade II listed. The hotel's interior design was managed by Lady Bracewell Smith and all the rooms were designed and furnished by top designers of the day. The breakfast room, a great example of Art Deco style, was decorated by Harrods. The hotel is widely recognized for its ballroom and Palm Court where afternoon tea is served. During World War II, Parliament decided that the Park Lane Hotel ballroom would be used by the Commons in the event the Houses of Parliament were damaged. Sheraton acquired the hotel in 1996 at a cost of £44 million, the ballroom, Palm Court and most of the rooms were renovated and restored to reflect its original splendor and re-opened in 1997 to celebrate the hotel's 70th anniversary. It has 302 bedrooms on eight floors with the front overlooking Green Park towards Buckingham Palace. The hotel is featured in the films The End of the Affair, The Winds of War, Goldeneye (Palm Court) and The Golden Compass as well as many TV shows. Cut back on the Starbucks and save some extra cash, Park Lane Hotel is worth the experience (and the higher price)! This should be on your Bucket List!

Yelp
We had a fabulous stay at the Sheraton Grand. Excellent location within walking distance to many attractions (Buckingham Palace and an easy walk to Piccadilly Square). The concierge was fabulous with restaurant locations (for both tapas and an Indian curry house). Rooms were clean with comfortable beds. The walk in shower seemed to leak due to a poor design (both rooms had the same issue where the water leaked all over the floor, even with the shower door closed). Housekeeping made a cute folded towel to deal with it. Neighborhood felt safe. I'd stay there again.

Yelp
Disappointed in this hotel. I booked 3 rooms for 6 nights. I booked these rooms several months ago and pre-payed for the rooms. I have near top status with Marriott. None of my requests in my profile were honored. Automatic answer is they are not guaranteed. Something else that is not guaranteed is that I will continue to stay at Marriott brands or have my employees do the same. I asked to have the hotel general manager contact me. Never happened. I asked to have the on duty manager contact me. That never happened either. One of our three rooms was not ready until several hours after we arrived, even though I received a telephone notification that my room was ready many hours earlier. We arrived at the hotel at about 3 pm and there was chaos at the front desk. A guest was yelling that all of his family's belongings were removed from their hotel room without his permission. Not sure how that was resolved but it certainly was an ugly seen for all of us. This hotel is particularly disappointing for the small, odd shaped rooms, and bathroom configuration. The rooms smell and they are noisy. I will never stay at this hotel again and I would not recommend it for anyone else. There are many hotels in this area at many different price points. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
