The Best Restaurants and Bars in Downtown Houston

"This sophisticated spot is a classic destination for those seeking elevated steakhouse dining with Italian-American flair. The Palm serves perfectly seared steaks alongside indulgent seafood, including its signature Nova Scotia lobster. Other standout dishes include veal Parmigiana, the Gigi Salad with shrimp and green beans, and the king crab fried risotto." - Marcy de Luna

The Palm is an incredible steakhouse. I came here for the first time and it was truly an incredible experience. The food is exquisite, with excellent quality and presentation. The drinks were delicious. We sat at the bar and the service was super good. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant.

Excellent dinner and service. Brandon did a great job taking care of our large party from the tabletop mixer to the sit down dinner. Highly recommend the chicken pharm! It is huge and unlike anything I've ever seen. Steak was cooked perfectly and had great add ons of lobster and crab.

Wow. I knew the reviews were excellent but this experience exceeded all of our expectations. We have been to many Landry restaurants but haven’t heard of this Italian and steak concept. Brandan was our attentive and professional server. Eric, a GM, was so kind to us and made us feel so special. My husband had the NY Strip and I had the shrimp scampi with pasta. Loved the Italian French fries too. Incredibly they have a promotion for July —all wines over $100 are 50 % off! And no upper limit. Read that again. No one does this! So we indulged in a La Jota ($300) for only $150! I always write honest reviews, so know that if you’re looking for a special experience—food, service and ambiance it’s worth getting to this inconvenient and exceptional place. (We took an Uber.) Enjoy!

Was amazing for my birthday! Kevin was our waiter, and was very helpful! The matre d was a gem too, I think his name was Tony. The food was cooked to perfection. The only thing I was disappointed with is that I didn't get all my mashed potatoes in my go bag. But for a special occasion it was worth it!

We stopped by on a cold Sunday evening, and it was totally worth it. Tony greeted us warmly and we were escorted to a comfortable booth. He was very friendly and let us know that the Valentine’s Day special was still available if we wanted to take advantage of that offer. Our server, Julius/Julien appeared right away and also explained the specials before getting our drink orders. He was attentive since the restaurant was more empty than usual. We ordered two entree’s and salads. The house salad and Caesar salad were a good size and very fresh. Shrimp sauté had plenty of large shrimps. Wagyu lasagna was bubbly hot. Yes, we had leftovers. We were full so we didn’t order any desserts, but Tony surprised us with samples of a delicious strawberry dessert. It was drizzled with dark chocolate and tasted like a chocolate covered strawberry. 😋 All in all, it was a great dining experience thanks to Tony and Julius/Julien. Sorry, I didn’t get any pictures of our food until the last bite of dessert. 🤪

Nice atmosphere. Drinks were good. Food was was OK. Chicken parmigiana was the best thing-huge portion. The spaghetti was a little hard. Nothing spectacular but, just ok. Filet mignon was also ok-have had better. Chilean sea bass was very fishy and the risotto was salty. Paired together cut out the fishiness of the bass and the saltiness of the risotto. Wagyu pappardelle was a huge portion but again, nothing spectacular. Ordered three sides, but they did not come out with the main courses. Came out approximately 10 minutes later. This place is not for us and we would not come back.

My wife and I went to the Palm for our 31st Wedding Anniversary. We had 3lb lobster half's, and asparagus. The lobster 🦞 was delicious all the way from the waters of Nova Scotia Canada water. The service was excellent. Kiley and Anthony were absolutely fabulous with their service. The GM showed us around and gave us the history of the Palm. The atmosphere was warm and very inviting.

We were seated promptly and took our appetizers and drinks order in a very timely order. Few minutes after the arrival of the appetizers and drinks we ordered our food. I got a fillet medium rare, lobster bisque and already knew my dessert which was NY Cheesecake with Raspberry Syrup. Bisque arrived first and it was the right temperature and delicious and then came the Fillet. It was medium rare and succulent and delicious. The cheesecake was also great! Great Ambiance and service. No complaints there!

Yelp
I have visited the Palm Restaurant in downtown Houston for years. They have always had excellent service and great food. The photos in this post store for my birthday in January 2025. I went yesterday for their lunch special, which is a three course meal for $30. Which is a great bargain! I used to go to the Palm many many years ago when it was on Westheimer Street in Houston. Because the neighborhood had changed so much they changed locations to downtown Houston. They were then bought out by the Landry's chain. There is one person remaining from when they were at the Westheimer location. His name is Tony. He was not there yesterday when I had lunch, but he is a great guy and a wonderful waiter. Like every other restaurant that survived COVID, 2020 the menu has changed. I'm not going to go into the changes because I don't remember them all. I can't say that the service is great and the food is excellent. Like all restaurants they are competing for Dallas in in my opinion doing an excellent job.. Pre-Covid they had an entertainer every day. Unfortunately, now they have a performer once per week, on Thursdays. I suggest contacting them prior to visiting, if you expect a live performer to ensure that the day of the entertainment has not changed. If you decide to visit and you enjoy the ambience, they are part of a larger chain and I suggest getting the Landry's card which cost $25. What do you get for your money? Well you get an immediate credit I don't recall the exact cash amount and every year on your birthday you get a $25 credit, plus a free dessert in your birthday month. I have exclusively set in the bar area since the restaurant moved to downtown Houston. I've done that because they had nightly entertainment again pre-Covid. I can't say they employ really good musicians. I have personally contacted one of the performers that did an outstanding job to provide music for an event in my home. They have valet parking, unfortunately, they no longer validate valet parking, $13.00. However, there are other places to park nearby that are free after 4 PM. GN3

Yelp
Ambiance / Atmosphere is great. Service was ok for this level of restaurant We had a large party, but the restaurant was not busy it it took a LONG time for our food to arrive. Food was very good, but menu is limited so make sure you want what theyre offering before you go. Plates are well presented and the portions are large. Had to request bread and was told "bread/rolls are only provided upon request" - have never been to a top tier restaurant that doesn't provide some type of bread with their meals, particularly one who serves this type of cuisine.

Yelp
Nice restaurant with excellent service, but a disappointing event planning experience. I hosted an event here on a Sunday. The restaurant itself was lovely and practically empty, which made for a quiet atmosphere. The staff was amazing, and the service was top-notch throughout the event. However, my experience working with the event planning team was frustrating. While conversations were detailed and seemed promising, the execution fell short. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing and not relying solely on verbal agreements or detailed discussions. Because of the planning issues, I wouldn't choose to host another event here despite the great service on the day itself. This is unfortunate because of the potential business that attended this event.

Yelp
I went here Saturday night for the first time at this new location, while the last time was 4 years ago at their old Houston spot in the Briargrove Plaza. My order was their NY Strip - very rare, Beefeater Gin on rocks and Chocolate Cake for dessert as well as a takeout Linguini Bolognese. I'll get the takeout out of the way. When I had the bolognese pasta for the first time at the original during the pandemic lockdown, I got it togo that summer day and it was amazing. It had a very well-seasoned, buttery taste resembling the one from Romano's Mac Grill in a way. This time it looked very good with a lot of meat, chopped carrots, fresh pasta, etc, but definitely lacked salt / seasoning. I will certainly try the vodka pasta for that category if they still sell it next time. On to the excellence... My NY Strip was phenomenal in every way with a very delicious taste, plenty of salt, great amount of fat and intense beefiness. It had an "aged flavor" to it I could catch as well. It was also really tender and so easy to cut with a great crust on top. The inside was very blueish red as it was supposed to be. The drink was strong, cold, refreshing and a blend of sweet n earthy as gin has. The chocolate cake for dessert was very delicious, packed with deep cocoa vibes, very dense and yet still very moist and soft. The flour, icing layers and dark ganache on the top n back were all so scrumptious. It was similar to the Matilda Chocolate Cake or in real life the Death by Chocolate Cake from Three Bros Bakeries. My second favorite dessert here is the donut holes with the two dipping sauces. The service from my server was very welcoming, very friendly, very attentive and very efficient.

Yelp
A lot of people ask what your top three favorite restaurants in Houston and I am going to make a bold statement and say it is The Palm, hands-down. I remember when back in the day, this was a Yelp black event and I was impressed. That location has since closed but this downtown location is gorgeous. As a Landry restaurant, they will ask for your member number and I look forward to earning some points. I booked my reservation for this night and I needed to move it, but it was done with ease and I even got a call from the general manager, confirming the time change with hence to get there slightly before 9 PM since it was the last service dinner for the evening before kitchen closes. The Palm is a great spot to meet with friends, have a romantic dinner, and you can be assured that the service and food is going to be, the best possibly can be. I am happy to report that last night's romantic dinner went well and it was all that I dreamed it to me. Ramon was our server and I've had him before and he is on top of it and non-intrusive. The New York strip steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and as it goes for steaks, I think it is much better than what I've had at B&B Butchers, back in the day and another place I can't remember right now. If you need to entertain someone for lunch, have a nice long dinner with loquacious company, this is your spot, hands down. They have special wine dinners, live music and a beautiful bar. Valet is $13 or you can try to find street parking. On Waze, you can see surrounding parking lots with prices listed in the Waze app. Nice. My overall experience: 100%, 5/5 will return. In fact, I may return later today lol and I'll ask for Ramon in my usual gray booth please. And make sure Sinatra is playing in the background.

Yelp
We were here for lunch. 1st impression of the restaurant on ambiance wasn't impressed. Service was nice and food was good So it ended up well. But the decor in the restaurant was just nah... The ravioli lobster was really good and they are not shy on putting lobster in it. You surely can taste the lobster. The papadelle was ok. The calamari was awful not fried correctly bcoz it was soggy and not crunchy as it should be since it's a fried dish.

Yelp
Me and my girlfriend were treated like royalty for her official birthday dinner. Beautiful restaurant, red booth was just what i wanted for her. Amazing service from our host and a compliment dish from the chef. I had a delicious filet of beef and lobster bisque with a salad. 10/10 My Lover ordered the Clam Linguine? It was tasty! The whole point of a birthday dinner is not really the food. The service here was everything i expected from a fine dining restaurant. They got everything right. Exactly how i pictured and imagined. Thank you so much for making it possible to show this woman how important she is to me. To the world. She makes me happy when shes happy and yall played a big role. Thank you once again, it means everything. -Santangelo Balli Gonzales

Yelp
I came to their bar a couple of times while downtown for events. Each time I had a different bartender, but the drinks were consistently good. I ordered the espresso martini each time and it did not disappoint. The bartender freshly brewed it on the spot. I also tried their bacon steak, it is a nice portion size and pretty good. It's a nice restaurant, a little empty if you're looking for a trendy spot. Nice and convenient area of downtown.

Yelp
Absolute Bullies. Was parking in front of their shop per the stated city signage that allowed metered paid parking during the certain hours I was there. But a person from the restaurant came out and said they would tow me regardless of what the sign said.

Yelp
Service was as expected amazing. The food was delicious! The portions are big so it's enough to share or take home for the next day!! Really enjoyed that the vibe was not rushed! Valet parking is a big plus as well given downtown isn't super great for parking. :).

Yelp
The maitre'd was very nice and professional. The wait staff was very nice and professional. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. The Champagne was very nice and very cold. The food however was terrible... New York strip was tough and grey as if it had been boiled, instead of grilled. The Sea bass also appeared to be boiled rather than grilled. The sea bass had absolutely no flavor and was literally gelatinous/raw in the middle.

Yelp
The same kitchen inconsistencies continue to plague this kitchen, as they did in my 2023 & 2024 reviews. Used to visit regularly when they first opened, but have only gone twice in the last 18 months because of the continuing disappointment. Over the last 2 years we ordered the same Gigi salad on 3 visits & NONE contained the same ingredients or all of the ingredients listed on the menu. 1 included boiled egg but 2 did not. 2 had avocado but 1 did not. Only 1 had green beans. 1 had 3 shrimp, a 2nd had 2 shrimp, & the 3rd only had 1 shrimp that had been cut into 3 pieces. Sliders have been served on cold bread, & we stopped ordering calamari because it rarely arrived warm &/or crisp. The most absurdly inconsistent kitchen of any restaurant we visit Downtown. Usually good table & bar service, but you simply never know what will arrive at your table from this kitchen. Do they actually have a full-time Chef &/or offer proper training to kitchen staff???

Yelp
Always a nice time. Spent a day at the hotel pool next door and popped in around 6 PM on a Saturday. It was dead, but feel like this is more of a business establishment that's busy during the week. Sat at the bar and received quick service. Had a few aperol sprtiz with an order of the carpaccio, oysters, filet, and a side of mac and cheese. Steak was over cooked (ordered medium rare, it came medium) but otherwise it was great. Plan to be back next time there is something going on downtown.

Yelp
Attending the coffee conference and on a whim, decided to try out The Palm. What a great experience!!! Tony was just amazing. His customer service was fantastic. Great conversations throughout the entire experience. Our server Ramon was equally good. Great recommendation on everything. The ribeye was just melting in my mouth. Definitely a great spot to go for a nice steak dinner.

Yelp
We, a party of 4 went there before Trans Siberian Orchestra. Made reservations on an app, pretty simple. Parking was by Valet. We arrived about 25 minutes early and they seated us. They weren't busy the whole time we were there, I think maybe 4 tables then became slightly busier. Our waiter, although very friendly could tell, he was new to being a waiter. We started off with 2 appetizers, the Meatball & Bacon. Meatball was fabulous, so much so, that one at our table ordered for a dinner meal as well. Bacon was ok but you could buy the flavor of bacon from a store. Entrees were good, 1 of us had a Prime Rib, while the other had a Rib eye, and the 3rd was the Wagu strips. The server never waited, nor checked to see if the steaks were at the right temperature. What we didn't like was the service was extremely slow for the amount of people in the restaurant, they brought out an extra dessert, and charged us, later taking it off on the steaks, false advertising in pricing, which at this point I wasn't going to make a scene. Charged $9, a scallop, I had 4, my colleague had 4, $54 for these scallops, granted they were big, but 1st 2 bites in one of my mine had plenty of sand still. The seared scallops were advertised for $17. Their menu showed one price and they charged us a lot more, all in all, the food, was pretty good, the drinks were weak and they didn't wipe down the sticky glasses. Those fries, Italian Herb Hand-Cut Fries, were horrendous, so much so we didn't even eat them, they had were horrendous, didn't seem to care, however we ate everything minus the fries. Bill came to around $600 for the 4 of us. I'll go back and try something different but pay attention to what you order and what they perceive you ordering and validate the cost.

Yelp
Typically I'm not one to participate in any restaurant week, mainly due to my aversion created by my time living in NYC (#1). The spell was broken for this year's Houston Restaurant Week, which ironically featured a New York institution turned international chain in The Palm Restaurant. Habitually, I'm rarely a single-visit reviewer (#2), chain seeker, or downtown diner, but I bend the rules in the name of quality dining companionship. The ambiance is in line with so many Palm locations: intimate lighting, fine dining sophistication, spacious interior, and a slew of caricature decor to immortalize famous people throughout the the establishment. I was particularly tickled by the Houston homage art showcasing Houston Astro players, a nod to oil and gas industries, and local characters. My choices for HRW 2023 was a Palm Caesar salad, along with an 8oz rare filet mignon with garlic mash, finished with a key lime pie for dessert. At $70, it was still a premium meal but a good one at that. While the salad wasn't particularly memorable, my filet mignon was excellent. It was rare but not bloody and the meat quality was exceptional. The sear was just right, the additional 2 oz portion ($15 add on) was good portion wise, and the tenderness of the meat was superb. The mash was a proper personal sized portion, which was tasty with a nice finish. I added my roasted garlic into the mash for additional flavor and it was an indulgent approach to an otherwise average side. My key lime pie was as creamy as it was tart, making for a very good final act for a solid dinner lineup. I saw the zeppoles looking like donut holes and I found the $5 extra for the Junior's cheesecake extremely amusing. (#3) A special shout out to their surf-n-turf special, which was designed for two people that includes a whole lobster split in two and coupled with a 4oz filet, with a choice of an appetizer and dessert. While I didn't try the dish, I was pretty impressed with the amount of lobster meat they had and I appreciate the staff for going extra hard in getting the chunks out. Overall, I appreciated the attentive service (thanks Ramon!), clean bathrooms, and quality eats. Parking is valet with the option of garages across the street. Street parking is also available, which I thankfully scored a spot that didn't charge after 6pm. I'd come back in a heartbeat. It won't take a restaurant week promotion to get my participation next time. __________ (#1) NYRW is a gamble. And oftentimes, a losing proposition of mediocre execution for overpriced food. Most locals would rather just pay for the regular experience than get a condensed version of it. (#2) Seeing as I've dined at a number of their sister locations, I felt this was merited. (#3) If it was Eileen's, Veniero's, or Cascon, it'd be a different story.

Yelp
Excellent Lunch, Tony the Manager came by and specifically gave us attention and answered our questions. Thank you for the great service!

Yelp
Private birthday party, lovely event. Food was delicious, service was great...all but the valet!

Yelp
Great food and service in a laid back atmosphere. Good music, reasonable prices. Happy hour is even better. Not too crowded or too loud. Tony, the manager, is great. Give it a try.

Yelp
10/10. I cannot recommend the Palm enough. When they say restaurants make more profit by having a high rate of churn (getting customers in and out), they need to put a picture of the Palm restaurant there. I am not saying they were rushing to get me out of the door, but the service was so fast that I couldn't believe how quickly the food kept coming out. Upon entry, I was serenaded by the stylings of the in-house pianist, who did his part in setting a delectable ambiance. His elegance on the keys foreshadowed the great experience I was preparing to embark on. My server, Tanner, did her part to ensure the best experience by being as attentive as possible, even sweeping excess breadcrumbs off my table mid-meal; talk about service! I started with the Palm Meatball and thick-cut smokehouse bacon. I highly recommend both as they were delicious, especially the bacon. Meatball was a combination of beef, veal, and pork drizzled with muenster cheese and marinara. I'm still thinking about it to this point. I then ended with the Chick Parmigiana, potatoes au gratin, and creamed spinach. The piece of chicken they gave me was the dang near the size of my head. I could not finish it all, which is huge because your boy likes to chow down. I can't wait to get back and try that Ribeye. The Palm know like Arnold said "I'll be back."

Yelp
Great experience, great food, and great service. Went there for dinner last night and they were 100% on everything from service to food and everything in between. Even the valet guy was great beginning and end. Was greeted by Tony, who sat us and continually checked with us throughout our evening. And as a pleasant surprise, got to see big Jim, who was over at the Westheimer location for like 30 years. Our waiter Ramon was prompt in bringing us water and bread prior to ordering. Starting with the food, we ordered as appetizers, the meatball and the bacon appetizer. Both were amazing. The meatball was tender and flavorful, and that thick cut bacon was wonderful. For our main course, we ordered a 4 pound female, lobster, chicken Parmesan, spaghetti with oil and garlic, and some creamed spinach. We of course, had to take some home with us. The lobster was just amazing. Probably the best in all OF HOUSTON. And for 4 pounds, I thought it to be reasonably priced. The chicken Parmesan also probably the best in Houston. Was wonderful last night and every time I've ever had it there. The pasta was al dente and perfectly cooked. The cream spinach is also some of the best that I've had in Houston. For dessert we had the cheesecake which was also excellent. Our waiter Ramon was attentive and always there when we needed him. Also, when the lobster was brought I cannot remember the waiter's name, but he did a great job of cracking the majority of it so it was easy to navigate on the plate. At the end of the evening on our way out, Tony was kind enough to give us a tour of the entire restaurant. It is deceivingly large. He showed us through each of the private rooms which have a different theme and we were extremely impressed. And as a bonus, the GM, Brian sent us a thank you email the following morning. You don't see that with the restaurants these days. Very impressed. Can 100% recommend the PALM HOUSTON for their food and their service and just an overall wonderful experience. And again they have the best lobster in all OF HOUSTON. We will be back.

Yelp
Visited this location Dec 30 for a 630pm reservation. Hostess was nice. Live music was great and our server was good. The food was AWFUL and not what I remembered from the previous location on Westheimer. The sea bass didn't seem like it was cooked well and the stuffing was more cornbread stuffing than crab meat-- which wasn't like described. My husband (who had not had the pleasure of going to he previous location) ordered chicken Parmesan (it was flagged as a Palm speciality) he stated he had better at other places but it was edible. Real let down. What made it even more awful "some" of the valet attendants reeked of marijuana smell-- all while driving other people's cars!!!! Took photos of the valet kiosk-- so that Palm management may give them the feedback. Aww experience-- should have went Pappas Steakhouse.

Yelp
Tony was great with the aperitifs! The Fireside Sidecar was amazing with the cinnamon rim, nice touch! The Always in Fashion was also wonderful. Our server was helpful and attentive. We shared the Gigi Salad, which was very flavorful, the Prime Porterhouse was cooked and seasoned to perfection, the Creamed Spinach and Green Beans A&O complimented the meal to make a perfectly wonderful Valentine's Day date night dinner. The restaurant is warm and inviting, beautiful lighting fixtures and artwork.

Yelp
The Palm never disappoints. From LA to Houston same incredible quality, service and taste. Make sure you ask for Tony and Tony they will take the BEST care of you and make sure your accommodations are fully met. I give it 5 Stars...

Yelp
We had a group,of 8 people and had trouble setting up a team lunch. Reservations can be difficult to get on short notice. Luckily, the Palm was able to take us. Ambiance: very nice, a steak house feel. Art on the wall of various presidents and the owner, I believe. I have been in Houston for 30 years, and the Palm used to be located on Westheimer the entire time I have been here, a well-established Houston restaurant, now owned by Landry's. The new location is classy and a good location for events. We started with the meatball and bacon. Both were excellent, the bacon was sliced into more pieces to accommodate everyone in our party. I ordered the Power Lunch. This is a great lunch option for a 3 course meal. The lobster bisque was delicious, Very creamy and fun to watch the server pour the bisque over lobster meat. The red fish was the fish of the day option and was awesome. A couple of folks in our group could not eat bacon, and the server had it removed from their dishes. Excellent service, our server remembered all 8 orders without writing them down. We were getting short on time, so we had our desserts to go. The key lime pie was good, but I have had better. Still nice to have included in the meal deal. I do want to return, excellent downtown lunch location.

Yelp
Our waiter, Julian was attentive and fast with request. The manager checked how my birthday dinner was going and if he could get us anything. The Palm has been a family tradition for Christmas, birthdays and other special occasions. Irene H

Yelp
What a great night! The manager and the server made my wife's birthday so special. The manager decorated the table with confetti and a Palm Birthday Card. The manager and server made my wife's birthday so special and she was so happy. If you want a special night ask for Tony and he will make sure that you will have a memorable evening!!! This is not your ordinary steakhouse. The servers name was Tony as well and the manager said just ask for TNT(Tony n Tony) and he for a great night! I agree ! My wife and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Had a great dinner at The Palm. The Lobster bisque and the Wagyu Lasagna was amazing! The food was great and the customer service was just as good. Tony the server and Tony the manager were both so helpful and really made us feel welcome. I would 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Came here for drinks and a few bites at the bar. There's a sign out front noting a strict dress code but fortunately they still let us in with jeans and a sweater. It was mostly empty (we came on a Sunday night around 9pm) with just a couple of other people at the bar with us and one couple seated at a table. We got a glass of rose, which we enjoyed, and a platter of raw oysters and clams, which tasted okay but were not well shucked (and were smaller than I usually like). We also got the drunken clams with sausage, which we would not recommend - the sauce was very off putting and too meaty. We ended with a latte, which was pretty average. Service was quick (perhaps given the lack of customers). I wish the bartender had been a but friendlier and interactive but otherwise not a bad stop!

Yelp
We celebrated my brother's 50th birthday at The Palm and everyone truly went out of their way to make this a wonderful celebration. We started in the bar and the service and drinks were impeccable. When it was time for our reservation, we moved to the dining area and were greeted by our waiter immediately. Presentation of all of the food was perfect and the taste was even better! We had oysters on the half shell, Filet Oscar, Lobster Gnocchi, and cheesecake. Couldn't have asked for a better time. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
This was hands-down the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. And trust me, I eat out a lot--probably more than I should, but hey, life's short, and so are my cooking skills. We had a 5:15 reservation at The Palm. Originally, we were supposed to eat elsewhere at 6:45, but OpenTable had The Palm listed as a "great option." (Spoiler: OpenTable lied, and I want a refund on my trust.) The restaurant was practically empty--just four tables occupied--and yet, the vibe was like they were hosting the Oscars and forgot to hire staff. Our server started out friendly enough, asking if we were in a rush. We weren't. Joke's on us because we probably could've gone home, changed outfits, and come back in the time it took to get drinks. Two waters, two cocktails, and a soda took 20 minutes. Was the soda aged in an oak barrel? By the time we saw the server again, we'd been sitting there for an hour--still hungry, staring at our sad, empty table like we were at a minimalist art exhibit. When we finally ordered, we asked for everything--apps, salads, bread, and entrees--to come as soon as possible. Naturally, they brought it all at once, 40 minutes later. No bread, though, because apparently carbs are a luxury item now. The steak? Overcooked. The sides? Incorrect at first (classic plot twist). The wine for my steak? Arrived after the steak was halfway to retirement. But hey, at least one thing came out fast: the $300 check. The food was fine--nothing special, but not terrible. The service, however, was like a bad blind date: slow, awkward, and constantly making you regret your choices. One star.

Yelp
My Mum and Dad took me here for my birthday and it was so sweet of them to take me here. My sweet Mum always takes her kids to the best places for our birthday and she just gives my Dad the credit too, lol. My birthday runs around and as usual I plan nothing nor say nothing. On top of that I moved into a new home and I was so blessed that I expected nothing else. I was so pleased my parents brought me here because I bookmarked all the great places in Houston, or so I thought. When we pulled up here I was so curious to what it was about and how she found this restaurant before me. It was such a sweet experience! The only gripe was it was a little cold but that goes on the back burner once you started to enjoy the company and ambiance and none of us drink ( I don't anymore) but I'm sure the tables who were imbibing were getting a little warm. The ambiance was lovely. I really enjoyed the live music playing. The servers were long tome employees and did everything right. Not to mention the manager goes around and checks on the tables. We were a little worse for the wear as we were moving and we didn't have time to dress to the nines but we got treated well. We started the meal with calamari which was good. I asked for limes with my water and Sprite (I put limes in everything I drink so I'm probably) and I asked for a lot and I squeezed one on the calamari and it made it so good with that pop of tart lime. So much better than lemon, try it. I would come back for the calamari. So delicioso. This is kind of an Italian forward steakhouse. I have resorted to picking on my company's food as I don't eat much due to surgery so my Mum ordered the lasagna- I think it was an oxtail lasagna or some sort of special lasagna. My Dad ordered the chicken parmesan with linguini and tomato sauce. I ordered creamed spinach and opted to share my parents meals. The lasagna was delicious and was a perfect portion. It was very rich and enough to eat the meal at the table. The chicken parmesan was a huge portion and seasoned and salty in a good way. It was fried well and not greasy at all. The creamed spinach was the best creamed spinach I have ever had. We all raved about it and when I woke up the next day it was gone, lol. The chicken parm was just as delicious the next day. For dessert my Dad ordered the zeppoles- Italian doughnuts with powdered sugar. I initially told him to get something else because I've never liked them but when I tried one that night it was so good! I definitely did not need the scrumptious sauces it came with. I got a cheesecake compliment of the restaurant for my birthday. It was a thick piece that was okay but I can make out when desserts are stored with main foods instead of a bakery refrigerator so that was a tad off buy it was good. Live music on Friday. I tried to get my parents to dance but we were so exhausted we just are and left. Our waiter Corbin was funny so that was a good thing. Great service!

Yelp
This establishment is TOP NOTCH! The food here is delicious. The beverage selections are outstanding. The music in the bar area will have you singing along. The atmosphere is alive! The staff here treat you with amazing care! From the warm welcome greeting from the host to the manager walking around checking on his guest. If your in the area for a 10 star dinner then you have selected the right choice! Also if you have an event and need a place to host. Here The Palm will be able to handle all your needs! My event here was phenomenal. Enjoy your time!

Yelp
My friends and I came here for 2023 Houston Restaurant Weeks. After first I did not know The Palm, used to be on Westheimer move to Downtown Houston. This is my first time coming to The Palm in the new location. They have valet parking at the door. But we parked on the street a few block away for free parking. There's a few stairs there are handrails if you need it like me. The HRW menu was nice and I was able to get their steak and my friend cut it for me. The steak was cook to the way I like it medium rare. I love the grilled garlic bundle that you can squeeze onto your food. The service was very good and there was live music in the bar area.

Yelp
What a disappointment! I was here for a friend's birthday dinner. We were looking forward to dinner since we had not been to the Downtown location. We were a large party (10+) and had an early Sunday evening reservation. It was us and one other table (4 top) in the restaurant. First, we only had 1 waiter who was assisted by the manager & busboy. Then, we all ordered from Houston Restaurant Weeks menu and were surprised when we were told they were out of the tuna (understandable) and creme brulee (not acceptable if it was made daily). I was one of the lucky ones at our table as my filet was cooked medium rare, as requested. Other filets were over cooked and I was told the salmon was dry. I paid extra for the Chocolate Mezzanote (chocolate cake) and wish I had ordered the zeppole, as the cake was extremely dry. The sauce that came with it was an odd texture and too sweet. Finally, I ordered a grasshopper for a dessert drink and it was chalky. I was hoping that the acquisition by Landry's would not have a negative impact on the restaurant but sadly no. Our waiter did the best he could and I was happy to see the manager assisting him. If there were more tables or guests at the bar, I would understand why the drinks took so long, however that was not the case. I may give The Palm another chance, just not on a Sunday or with a large group. Again, disappointing is the only way to explain this experience.

Yelp
My wife and I had a dinner on New Years Eve. The ambiance is great! They had a great singer on the keys playing in the bar which is where we started off our evening. Drinks were well made and flavorful. I had the blood orange margarita. When we were seated, Ramon came and greeted us promptly. We started with the meatball which was great! Then my wife had the Buffalo Mozzarella salad which she said was great. I had the Caesar salad which was very basic. For our entrees my wife had the Wagyu Filet, she said it was good. I had the 8 oz Wagyu strip. The steak came to me cold to the touch. When I mentioned it, they told me the chef said, "well is it rare" but will put it back under the broiler. I get that's it's rare but that steak was clearly straight from the fridge to the broiler and wasn't allowed to come to room temp. With Wagyu having such a high marbling, you need at the least room temp due to the fat content. Anyways, the steak was average at best. I also ordered the truffle risotto which came out looking like sushi sticky rice. No smooth, creamy consistency that I've come to expect with risotto. Wife had the garlic mash which was below average as well. We finished off the night with their tiramisu. Very good dessert. Unfortunately for the price we paid for everything , that was the best part of the meal. Probably won't be returning The Palm.
