"The Palms is a not-so-hidden gem in the middle of downtown Los Gatos. To find it, simply walk along the boutique shops and restaurants of the main drag until you spy the stately 1891 Queen Anne Victorian with the sprawling yard and sizeable porch.  This location really shines on summer nights when tables of diners spill across the lawn for an al fresco evening under the twinkling lights. Since this is a Pacific Rim-inspired restaurant, try a tropical drink like the “Forget Mary Ann, Where’s Ginger,” a Bulleit bourbon, ginger, and citrus cocktail named after two stranded characters on the Gilligan’s Island show of the 60s." - Johanna Harlow

Not recommended. The patio is great and the cocktails were good. However, for $68/person total for a starter, main and cocktail I expected way better. The mahi mahi was dry and tasteless and the Korean BBQ (recommended by the server) tasted much like the one served in Stanford cafeterias for ~$12, not ~$30. The restrooms were clean but reminded me of high school rather than an expensive restaurant. Very disappointed as I had high expectations. Attire smart casual at most. Not recommended for a date.

Great food, wonderful service in a beautiful setting! We all ordered the tuna poke bowls. They all looked identical! The dish presentation was perfect. I asked the waitress where the fish comes from, she said its shipped from Hawaii! I'm an avid fisher, and this is as fresh as it gets! Hats off to the chef! You are doing an amazing job! Our waitress-Emily was really nice and helpful. We will be coming back here for our anniversary :)

Beautiful place with totally awesome seafood!!! We have always loved visiting this restaurant. We recently went again after the COVID restrictions and were pleasantly surprised to see the arrangements and the set up. The outside looked beautiful with lights and tables placed out spaciously. They sanitized the area well and the staff were in mask and gloves. The food of course was awesome. Relished the scallops and the salmon and devoured the molten lava cake. A gorgeous location in Los Gatos to spend a beautiful evening.

Other than the longer than usual wait for the food to arrive, it was really tasty. We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all good. I've posted some pictures to get your salivary glands flowing.

Large Victorian house w both indoor and outdoor seating, for both eating and just drinks or appetizers. I love the outside seating: Pleasant and soothing atmosphere, vacation-like, with music playing in the background and people and cars passing by. Bread and butter good. unlimited soda refills. Good-portioned Chilean sea bass $44 was very good; the udon noodles were good in the base, but the vegetables were somewhat overcooked. The seafood linguine was very good and was good sized portion, and had fish, prawns, small scallops in a pink sauce that had a touch of spiciness.

Good Asian food they also have live music once in a while. Today we went to a friend's birthday party. They have 3 bands playing fr 3pm to 9pm and fire dancing.

I took my family here for the wife's birthday and had a impressive night. We dined outside in front of The Palms shaded patio area. Our waitress was Julie, she was wonderful. She was pleasant and attentive. Our food was flavorful and delectable. Would definitely be returning.

Yelp
Came here for drinks and a quick mid day snack. It's a beautiful place in the middle of downtown Los Gatos. I love the outdoor patio seating. Appetizers were pretty good. We got the taro chip and guacamole, crispy shrimp, and ahi tuna. Drink wise, I love the POG punch! Not strong at all. Their regular menu is pretty pricey, entrees on average around 30-50. However, they do offer happy hour.

Yelp
We went there for the first time yesterday for my father-in-law's birthday (he is 73). I have a few observations for this place: 1) Parking is hard, although during the month of December the City of Los Gatos is offering free valet that is near by. 2) The restaurant is small for the number of tables they have packed. 3) This is NOT a spot you want to go to have a quiet romantic dinner with your significant other or a family dinner where you actually want to talk to the people you are with. I.e. - it is SO LOUD that the moment we got sat down to our table, the table across from us had one lady whose laugh was SO LOUD that it actually was drove us to eat fast and get out quickly. Now moving on to service: We had a good server who was very kind and courteous - thank you Joseph! Now the food: Appetizers Coconut shrimp and Guacamole - I would say they are both pretty bland and you should try something else. Main Course * Loco Moco: I ordered this dish (I have never had it) and was inspired by my recent Hawaii Five-O binging to want to try it. I have to say it was VERY GOOD and not too over the top and the presentation was delightful. * Fish Tacos: My wife ordered the Fish Tacos and she thought they were great. * The Palms Burger: Kid#1 had this and he was satisfied (and it looked so yummy) * Kids Fish and Chips: Kid# 2 wanted to have this and I have to say I tried it and it was delicious and the fries for the burger and the fish and chips were great. * Prime Rib: My mother-in-law ordered the Prime Rib and it looked HUGE and it was tasty (according to her). If you want to order this, perhaps ask the server how big of a cut they will serve (so you match with your appetite). * Salmon: My father-in-law ordered the Salmon and he was satisfied as well. SUMMARY: All in all, this is a place I would NOT go with kids, I would NOT go for a date, I would NOT go for a family outing where you want to connect with your family...I would go to this spot with a large party (for a celebration) and or drinks and then food.

Yelp
$55 for a seabass main course ? WTF , how it is cooked? $25 is the maximum value .... Not going to this restaurant anymore

Yelp
Saturday night. Restaurant was packed. It was so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation. Our server tried her best and food came out fast. But the food lacked flavor in general and just salty. Lettuce on my wedge salad was not crispy . Filet didn't come with sauce so I had to ask for it. Don't think we'll be coming back...

Ed G.

Yelp
Let me just tell you why I can't recommend this place at all. Our food was delivered to the table next to us. We saw the people try the two plates. We let our server know our food was at a different table and that we saw the people pick at it. We asked if they could just put our order in again. They cleared the dishes off the other table and 5 mins later brought out our dishes. The steak was already cut and it was room temperature at best. We let the server know they just recycled our food. She didn't apologize she only took the dishes off our table and left. When we asked for the bill she brought out the dessert menu and said that if we decide we want dessert we could pick one and it would be on them. What would make you think we would want more from a kitchen that does that. This location looks fancy from the street and is priced $$$ out of four so you'd expect more from it. I won't be going back and honestly wish anyone that does go a better experience. Sadly I doubt they will get one. Los Gatos and Campbell have plenty of other better options. I say try them.

Daniil G.

Yelp
From the first glance, this place looks like a good restaurant. My concerns started when the server did not offer us a menu, or water, or any attention for 10-15 minutes. Server finally showed up, was very nice, took the order and took off for another 15 minutes. We got our main dishes before the appetizers. The wine was brought in the middle of our main course. Ribeye steak $52 a plate, horribly cooked, mashed potatoes looked like vomit:( undercooked broccoli. Overall, bad food, unreasonably expensive, understaffed, server was nice...

Yelp
Have wanted to try this place for a long time. Really great looking location, and decent sounding menu. Fish tacos were definitely frozen- not flaky at all and quite tough and chewy. $24 burger was also definitely a frozen patty, fries were good though. But that's hard to mess up.

Yelp
Always been curious about this place and luck had it that we made a reservation on Mother's Day. They have a nice front yard seating area, but in the evening it's a bit too chilly and windy for us, so we ran inside as fast as we could. They do have heaters outside. Indoor they have a full size bar and a cozy ambience, it feels nice to dine inside a big Victorian house. The service on Monday's Day is nice despite how busy they get. We were well taken care of, so that's worth mentioning. The food though is average at best. Started with a cocktail, the white sangria is ok, the Forget Maryann, Where's Ginger is too surprising to my taste. We tried appetizers of Coconut Pacific Prawns which are big prawns fried with coconut coating, it tasted ok. The Ahi Tuna Sashimi is loaded with other chopped veggie and sauce that make it lacking any right flavors. The Asian chopped salad with chicken is also just average and nothing to write home about. The miso king salmon doesn't have enough miso taste, too much cream mixed in. The kid's meal of butter noodle is probably the best value.

Betts M.

Yelp
Be better, The Palms. You have a great space, beautiful outdoor and indoor space - why can't you be better?! Would've given one star, but gave 2 stars because the grounds are nice. Came here for Mother's day brunch. They were down 2 cooks so everyone's food took 2 hours to come & all the tables were complaining about it. Some people even got their drinks, waited 1.5 hours, paid for their drinks & asked to cancel their meal. Not their fault, understood, but they didn't handle the situation with any sort of integrity or customer service. For example, I saw more & more people starting to sit down and NONE of the staff let them know about the wait (including us). It was only after you sat down, ordered, then they came out to tell you that it's going to be "a while" before you got your food. Uhhh...why didn't you tell people that when they sat down so they could make a different decision on MOTHER'S DAY? And they also didn't offer to comp anything, which most customer-service centered restaurants would. It was so sad - so many tables of people celebrating Mother's Day were leaving after waiting 1.5 hours & not getting their food. We waited the full 2 hours and my mom got sunburnt because their umbrellas also aren't stable & were FALLING ON PEOPLE when the wind blew lol. Honestly kind of a funny ridiculous situation if you're not actually there, starving & burning & experiencing this. OK but this would all be fine if the food was good, right? NOPE. We got a calamari appetizer, and most of the calamari was straight up BREADED SLICED JALAPENOS LOL. WHAT who is out here eating straight jalapenos?! That's supposed to be a garnish, & you used that in place of more seafood? There were probably like 5 pieces of actual seafood. Also got the loco moco, eggs benedict, burger, and coconut shrimp. All the food was mediocre. Can't say about the coconut shrimp though because it also NEVER CAME HAHAHAH it was sad but comical at this point. OK but this is all fine if the cost is reasonable right? NOPE. An omelette was $20 - like the kind you could make at home with eggs and veggies. Just look at the menu for the rest of the prices lol. I'm truly so confused why this place exists. Sorry mom, I'll do better next year :'(

Yelp
What caught our eyes is the ambiance of the restaurant. Beautiful Victorian house with large front outdoor patio with candles and string lights. We ordered street tacos for an appetizer, half fish tacos and half chicken with the other meat option being beef. I personally would order again but would get just the fish tacos. The chicken was nothing special. The salmon was perfectly moist and flakey and the miso was nice and creamy. Mashed potatoes were fluffy! Minus 1 star as the broccolini was cold. I prefer it warm. The Palm Burger pictured is medium rare and was so juicy! The juicy grease from the meat, mixed with the fried egg and toasted yet soft bun was a perfect combo. I would say the burger would be great for lunch and salmon a good dinner option!

Yelp
The service was quick for our indoor table. We wanted to see the end of the Giants game, so we came inside. We had coconut shrimp and edamame appetizers and poke bowls, chopped Chinese salad, Mahi Mahi and Sea Bass for entrees. The shrimp was succulent and crispy. Seems both would be hard to accomplish. Edamame was tender and easy to access those soybeans. Entrees came within 15 minutes of ordering and our water glasses were filled a second time, and fresh cutlery placed down. The sea bass was to die for! Crispy on the outside and buttery and tender in the inside. Too delightful. The veggies and noodles it sat on were bright and flavorful as well. My friends loved their poke bowls. A good amount of fish and light, crispy wontons. They could have popped more with cilantro or hot peppers for color and flavor. One had the Mahi Mahi and it had bland wasabi mash potatoes which balanced the salty bok choy. The salad was a good size, but average overall in taste. Would come back, and probably order the sea bass again. So good!

Yelp
First time eating at the palms. The outdoor ambiance drew me in! And the dog friendly seating. After that everything completely failed. The service was non existent. The servers were around but not attentive to any of our needs. It took 20 minutes to get our order taken and another 20 minutes to get our check. The food was very bland no flavor or seasoning at all. My wife ordered a filet minon that was not seasoned and burnt on one side. The mash potatoes and vegetables did not taste fresh. I ordered a burger which was a complete mess. The presentation was nice but that's it. The meat that was supposed to be medium but had raw spots and was not juicy. Try something else because it's not worth quality of food for the price and location. Please get staff up to par on customer service and the kitchen right...it is such a waste of a great location. All concerns were actually brought up to management that day and his words were our kitchen has made improvements and offered to get us dessert for all the mishaps.

Yelp
The Palms has one of the nicest outdoor seating areas for a restaurant in the south bay. It is a great place to go in the early evening as the sun goes down. The menu is very creative and all of us had several choices to choose form. The prices seemed fair given the location and the offerings. Here is the breakdown: Lobster Bisk: very good but not exceptional Korean BBQ Kalbi Ribs: sweet and tender, a really good stir fry Miso king salmon: very good glaze, crispy and juicy, the winner of the night BBQ burger: requested medium and came out dry and well done - The BBQ sauce was good and tangy Hula pie: Once upon a time this was called a mud pie and it was delicious. Bread Pudding: different and very excellent with all kinds of sweet ingredients. Key lime pie: Good but predictable Although the service folks were nice, their approach bordered on bazar. We waited a long, long time for drinks and then when they showed up the lobster bisk and the main course came out at the same time. We had ordered a bottle of wine and had to cancel it since we had our soup, meal and premeal drinks sitting in front of us. Overall, everyone liked the Palms and we plan to give it another go sometime in the near future.

Glen N.

Yelp
Not cheap, but the guacamole and tempura I sampled were excellent. The inventive drinks are "well-mixed", which means, as I walked to the bathroom, I told Patrick the drinks were good, then told them they are great, and then told him they are making me hug people I don't like, and then I told them something else before blacking out. I may be exaggerating but they were strong enough to bring my guard down and call our server Tyler (his given name) instead of 13 (how old he looked). The ambiance is best of all. The inside is a dark but open, no-nonsense bar and dining room, but the outside is like the opening theme to Fantasy Island. Should you get the plain burger or the BBQ? The plain, the plain!

Miriam A.

Yelp
The Palms is a beautiful spot with a charming feel in the heart of Downtown Los Gatos and is always packed on the weekends! I came here for drinks and appetizers with some friends and we enjoyed sitting outdoor, sipping our drinks, and chatting away! Their outdoor patio seating makes for a nice afternoon stop.

Lenny B.

Yelp
Could not have been worse. Everything was wrong. 2-1/2 hours and I never received my meal. The food my wife received was uncooked. They ran out of meat so more than 50% of the items on the menu were unavailable. "Served" by four different waiters, none of whom knew what they were doing. Gave my order 6 times!!!Eventually I walked into the kitchen unannounced and said "my wife is finished eating, can I have my dinner?" (I Never received it.) We spent $100 on two drinks, one poke bowl with undercooked rice, and two appetizers which were not the ones we ordered but we took just to have something. This cannot be blamed on being busy, as the restaurant was never more than half full. Was told they were out of hamburgers, but after an hour, we saw them serving hamburgers to other patrons. Will never go here again.

Vivi B.

Yelp
I was seriously disappointed with this restaurant. I understand it's a very busy Friday night, but sitting at a table waiting 30 minutes for someone to attend us is unacceptable. I went to the bar and was told that they were severely understaffed. I flagged down someone who finally took our drink order, and then they promptly forgot about us again. We asked to be moved outside where at least someone could attend us. The food came before our drinks arrived. The mahi-mahi was dry. The mashed potatoes were hard. The edamame was ok but again still dry and needed much more of the sauce. They also brought out another tables dishes to us and then realized and came back to take them away from us. Very high price point. I would not recommend.

Gerry C.

Yelp
An abject failure. It was barely getting airborne when management changed and it stopped being fun. This part of the LG strip was all the way live when they hired the bands and it looked like they had something on their hands. There were luau events with a tiki bar and roasted pigs. Then things changed up this Summer and it was like a library. The food was never going to be the draw. Their menu was subpar and unimaginative on their best days. Plenty of places along downtown LG that guarantee a good time. The Palms was up there with any one of them. Then it turned into Sizzler. Yeesh sad to see them go but it was time.

Bill B.

Yelp
One waiter outside for the whole front. They explained there were no others so could we order all at once. Drinks, appetizers and the entree. Okay, I get it, they were in a tough spot so went with it. 1 meal arrived, then the appetizer. 5 mins later a 2nd meal, 10 mins then the other 2 meals, and the soup. Food was warm, not hot. Bus kids were literally still in high school, wonder if they really were old enough to deliver drinks. Pass forever on this place. I give our waiter stars for trying, rest was a cluster. Foster Freeze on the way home to forget about the Palms.

Christopher L.

Yelp
Surprisingly... Disappointing. I've walked past Palms for over 20 years and decided to pop in for dinner on a Tuesday night. Some of the menu items looked appealing while looking at the menu posted outside. The service was nice, no issues there. The drinks were flavorful as well, some fun options to choose from. Yet, the food was not good, to say the least. We ordered the ribeye and bbq burger, both seemingly simple options. the steak had a very distinct flavor to it, not from a seasoning. After a few minutes from taking her first bite of the steak, my friend abruptly left the table and came back telling me she was not able to keep the food down. I thought about it for a few more minutes and noticed the flavor we were tasting was that of a flame from an active grease flare up in the grill ( which is a red flag to me related to food safety and cleanliness of the kitchen). I don't usually write negative reviews but I was surprised at the quality of food such an established restaurant in Los Gatos was serving. I do think they have a good drink menu worth exploring but would air on the side of caution if ordering something from the kitchen.

Gene D.

Yelp
It was a mixed bag here. Definitely give them a try as ymmv! Pros: -Service: Julie was great! -Music: Not the best singers but still entertaining -Tempura appetizer: Simply prepared but with a nice assortment of veggies -Poke bowl: Not truly authentic but tasty. Ask for more wontons in lieu of the rice. -MahiMahi: Nice sized portion of tasty fish. The wasabi mashed potatoes was very good. -Sea Bass: Good sized portion that was simply grilled. The broth and udon noodles were a nice touch. Cons: -Pear & Beet salad: Not enough pears or beets -MahiMahi: Not enough mac nuts -Chocolate Cake: Had the texture and taste of fudge, was missing strawberries and powdered sugar. Definitely skip unfortunately. -No complementary dessert for the birthday celebrant

Yelp
0/5 Service 0/5 Food 0/5 Drinks Eating at The Palms was one of the worst experiences I've had in my life. The waitress was rude and never checked on my table after we received our food. The Loco Moco I ordered was undercooked to the point there were chunks of raw ground beef that was absolutely disgusting. I'm surprised I don't have food poisoning right now. If The Last of Us happened in real life, I'm confident that The Palms would be ground zero. The rice that was served in my dish was sparse, very obviously old and had an egregious amount of gravy dumped on top. Compared to other tables, the attention paid to my dish was beyond negligible. Not to mention the overpriced watered down drinks. I would pay to not eat here again.

Jenna L.

Yelp
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Coming from someone who never and I truly mean NEVER writes reviews...this was my first and last experience at The Palms. It looks gorgeous on the outside but that's about it. We ordered drinks outside, nice view until we were swarmed with mosquitoes and bees (so bad that we had to move inside). We get it, how can they control that but still - enough to make us leave our table. Order a starter that was like ceviche, I will give them that too because it was pretty good. The main meal, absolutely horrible. I ordered the Caesar salad & they don't even cut the lettuce for you...you literally get 4-5 strips of Roman lettuce and a side of salmon on a tiny plate and you're suppose to cut it yourself, etc. Again, maybe that's just normal for them but like...at least cut it up? Sent it back (nicely because I've worked in the food industry before and never blame the server) and ordered the fish tacos grilled. Now THAT is gross. I had one bite and couldn't eat it anymore. Flavorless, mushy and just overall not impressed. My boyfriend got some BBQ Burger and the bacon was hard as a rock & the deep fried onions were so thin (barely edible) and he was just pulling them from his teeth the whole time. So at the end, WITH THE SALMON TAKEN OFF, our bill was $100 (without tip) for food we barely ate. Total rip off. Our serve was great & we left him a big tip but oh my god I would never tell anyone to go here. Don't be fooled by how it looks because the food is garbage.

Chantal P.

Yelp
It's a date night vibe! Food is good and staff are amazing! Beef tacos and Loco Moco is a must try!!!

Yelp
9/26/2020 Made reservations for 4 and arrived for an early belated birthday dinner for my sister in law. We haven't seen each other since covid started so it was nice sisters GNO as we have all safely been quarantining within our immediate family. One of my sisters have dined here however I have never did before this. I've driven, walked by but it wasn't appealing to me before. This restaurant has done a make over and now is has a island outdoor patio dining feel with heated lamps and lights hung up. They do check temps before seating. We ordered a round of drinks as soon as we sat. Island mule & salty dog in the middle. My island mule was pretty good so I stuck with it for round 2 during my meal. It was great that I came with my sisters and we were able to eat family style comfortably letting us try all the different dishes they offered. Hummus with Taro chips is yum to start off California Calamari to follow Wild Arugula Salad Chicken linguine Scallop entree Korean Galbi BBQ Bday dessert on the house I really enjoyed all the foods, my favs will probably be the hummus/taro chips, arugula salad and chicken linguine. The other dishes were just ok. In all honesty, this is probably a 3.5 star review and I'm giving a rounded 4 stars. Our servers were nice and attentive when we needed them. We did have to ask for water fills as they were much busier than we thought when we made reservations. The food and drinks are good but overall pricey and not as memorable as we like. It is Los Gatos so I expect the surcharge to some degree dining in this area and they were swamped by the time we left. It's definitely a happening spot. Bathrooms are clean :)

Gretel V.

Yelp
The food was good, the wait to get in wasn't long and we got to sit next to the window by the Xmas tree. I wish we could have sat outside but I guess it was too cold on Xmas eve to do that. I really liked their take on calamari as it was mixed with other seafood items. It was fun trying to figure out what each little ball could be. The only thing that we didn't like was that they forgot to take our order. We were waiting for a long time and then we started to notice that people that came after us were getting served. We had to go to the bar so that a server could take our order.

P G.

Yelp
I've seen this place a few times on social media and always wanted to eat here. I finally did. I took my niece out to lunch for her birthday. I'm taking away a star for just a couple of small reasons. 1) In my reservation, I asked that my niece's birthday be recognized. It wasn't. I'm sure it wasn't intentionally overlooked but still a little bummed. 2) My salmon caesar salad: the salmon was fantastic! Tender, flaky, and flavorful. The salad, not so much. I only took a few bites of the lettuce itself. It tasted like refrigerator burn. And the croutons pieces were so hard. I thought I cracked a tooth. Thankfully not! I will say, the staff was super friendly! We had to move from outdoor to indoor because of the little gnats flying around. So we didn't get to know our outdoor waiter, but our waiter inside was great! Beautiful property all around.

Sunil R.

Yelp
Finally made a dinner visit here after years of driving by. It used to look old and unappealing before but now in Covid time, all the outdoor seating started looking really appealing. The menu variety looked great with something for everyone. We had the poke bowl (good, nice presentation), the tempura (OK), Calamari (meh), fish tacos (OK), and the burger (undercooked and bad!). Our service was spotty, our waitress seemed super distracted and part of the food order was delayed. Also not a fan of the waitress defaulting the tip amount when it was time to pay.

Rookie Foodie Cook ..

Yelp
Spending over $200 on a meal and leaving disgusted. We got there and the bored hostess walked us to the very back (despite lots of table open upfront) that's where I saw they tuck away table with kids as I saw two other tables with kids there. Seriously, if you're not family friendly or if it ruins the show of your restaurant just say so. The place was infested with flies, we spent the entire meal swatting away flies from the food and us - it ruined the whole meal. There was also a slight stench of garbage. Seems like the back area is not hygienic which would explain the flies. At one point our waitress tries to make light of it by saying "oh the outdoors, the bees", I said no these are flies. Also, I have dined several places in the outdoors with gardens and vegetation - this was not the experience I had. Service was decent, drinks and food arrived promptly, attentive staff. The food is meh, guac and chips were as expected. The fried rice with chicken was the best of all we ate there, good pac-rim flavors, chicken cooked well (the one star is just for this). Scallops were average, the risotto way too overcooked to a mush. The filet was cooked to temperature I asked, the mushroom and spinach were not seasoned AT ALL - nothing not even salt (and rosemary sprig for garnish, in today's world?) I knew this place would be more about the ambience at least when I entered (see pic), little did I know I'd encounter a garbage scented, fly infested mediocre overly priced meal. Never again.

Mark W.

Yelp
Lovely building and Gorgeous outdoor courtyard. The indoor seating second floor however is incredibly bland ...almost barren. Service was fine. And Love the menu. But ....one very significant issue. We ordered the kalbi ribs...and what was delivered was...not. Kalbi ribs are short cut ribs, instead we all got some thin cut steak with sauce over rice. Not terrible, it was decent ...but just obviously NOT kalbi ribs. Frustrating to order one thing and get something entirely different. Very disappointing.

Sangaruta A.

Yelp
Food, service and drinks were amazing. Chilaquiles and chorizo tacos were delicious. Kremo our waitress was friendly and efficient, friendly staff. Beautiful restaurant.

Sandee S.

Yelp
Great location but seriously inconsistent food. They are incapable of making a burger to the right specifications. I love the ambience and the cocktails are totally fine but come on! It's been years of trying and its just never right.

Suman C.

Yelp
We came here forMother's day. Right from the beginning this restaurant service was bad. The hostess didn't know what she was doing. We had taken a reservation and got the table soon. After 15 mins someone served water with a sad face. After 45 mins nobody came to take our order so we called out for someone and they came to take our order. They took our order and the drinks didn't come out until an hr. After about 1.5 hr we got one of our 2 appetizer. Terrible experience. Even before we could taste if the food was good we walked away and just paid for just the drinks and appetizer and left. Very poor service. Not a good restaurant please don't go here.

Diane B.

Yelp
The exterior and interior of the restaurant are wonderful. Unfortunately food is overpriced for what you get unless you order a burger or the fish tacos. I had the Chilean sea bass which is served with udon noodles and vegetables. The piece of fish was 3" square Maybe 4oz. Chilean Sea Bass is $34 a pound what a mark up! Tiny piece for $44 and the noodles were overdone, they fell apart. Also, the bok choy couldn't be cut with a knife. We shared a shrimp appetizer that had only 2 shrimp and a bunch of onion, tomato and jalapeño. Just ok. My husbands tacos were very good and so was the hula pie. I was really excited to try The Palms unfortunately they disappointed.

Yelp
Wow, this place has really gone down hill. The service is flat out strange--I'm talking Denny's standard. The calamari was something like frozen greasy strips. Cocktails overpriced and basic. Main meals were tasteless, and the ahi tuna poke was very suspect. If you want that style of food go to Pacific Catch. Better value, better food, better service. It was pretty quiet for a Friday so maybe they will go out of business soon, or get their act together.

Yelp
Perfect for large groups, great dinner party vibes... but the food is not that memorable. The menu seems to have an Asian Fusion vibe but to be honest, pairing your seasonal vegetables or protein with noodles or rice shouldn't make it automatically asian fusion. For example, I ordered the NY strip steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus - I've never had a form of this at any asian restaurant. There are also other restaurants that serve Poke but don't label them as Asian Fusion either. I looked around at all the food the rest of the party ordered and I really didn't have any envy. Usually I want to order everything from the menu because the server will walk by my table with other customer's plates which make me drool but this place did not bring up such feelings. My table also struggled with getting our waters filled, a few of my friends actually got their water faster if they just ordered another glass of water versus a refill which was super weird.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever regretted eating at a restaurant more. From top to bottom the experience was awful. Our first server seemed incredibly flustered and actually said "why do people eat out on mothers day? You're ruining our day, go home!" he might have been drunk? Not sure.... we had about 5 different servers wait on our table, which obviously resulted in chaos. They brought over four dishes we didn't order, never brought some of the food we did order....and the food that did arrive tasted terrible and looked even worse. We sent back one dish that was inedible because the rice wasn't cooked. At several points throughout the meal we overheard nearby tables talking about the chaotic service and terrible food. This place was good at one point, not sure what happened....

Yelp
Ok- so the venue is COOL! The service was friendly albeit a little slow. But the food was just "meh". The prices are high and the portions on our entrees was small. We spent over $100 on one cocktail each, a shared appetizer, a caesar salad with 3 bites of steak and 2 small shrimp (prawns is NOT what I was served), and the hubs had salmon with 1/4 cup mashed potatoes and 2 sprigs of brocollini. Also- it is super loud in there so be prepared. There are so many other places to enjoy in Los Gatos besides this. Bummer.

Yelp
The location is prime and the actual venue is gorgeous. The courtyard/patio dining is some of the nicest in the area. The service can vary. The food is just okay. I've personally always erred on the 'okay' but my friends have been very disappointed and have previously sent fish back - ammonia smell. I would say, perhaps do brunch - this has been consistently okay, with service lacking but nonetheless, okay. Can't recommend for dinner

Yelp
I hadn't been here since they opened after Palacio closed. I was very pleasantly surprised by how good it was! Service: let's start with the service. it was fantastic. the server we had was wonderful - very friendly and helpful. came to the table just the right amount. really, zero complaints in this area. food: delicious! i had the mahi mahi and loved it. i appreciate that they will allow substitutions of sides. i switched it up and did risotto and broccolini with the fish. even the server commented that it looked really good that way... and it was. everything was perfect. nice cook on the fish. veg was yummy. we also had calamari, which was very good. loved the dipping sauce. it didn't look good (the sauce), but wow it was delightful. i expected it to be spicy, but it really isn't. just adds a nice flavor. drinks: margarita and tropical POG punch. both very good. the punch i felt could use a bit more alcohol, but very tasty. i'd probably add a dark rum floater next time. atmosphere: very nice. we had a window table and enjoyed that. in the summer i'd go outside. the patio is lovely. all in all, an excellent meal and experience. we'll be back, no question about it. this one is getting added to our list of regular places to visit.

Yelp
Never ever been great. They just miss the mark every single time. They really need to find what they are good at and stick with that. Just my opinion. Epic outdoor garden patio... so they've got that.

Yelp
Good cocktails, food was decent and good service. Reason for the poor review: They served my daughter spoiled milk, twice. G free requested for a dinner guest, turned out to not be and resulted in her getting sick later that evening.

Yelp
I'll start with the hostess, amazing and was attentive even after we were sat. She noticed some time had passed and we still had not been served. She found a waitress who was apologetic and jumped right into getting us food and drinks. We had a get table outside watching some classic cars pass, with live music in the back ground. Ordered a the barbecue burger. The burger was perfect and amazing. The Manhattan was good, ordered it on the rocks and it came up. The taste made up for the mistake. Only issue I had was the desert, cheese cake was frozen somewhat in the middle. I would say it felt store bought from Safeway or Costco. Was hoping it was fresh but I don't believe it was made in house. I will be returning but no desert!

Yelp
My favorite place to grab summer cocktails in Los Gatos! Located on bustling Main Street, the Palms has an incredible outdoor seating area which is the best place to enjoy drinks and appetizers while people watching. I've never been here for a full-fledge meal, but they have a great drink menu that has a little something for everyone: beer, wine, bubbly, and creatively crafted cocktails. Service is great! Yesterday our server was Emma, who was genuinely friendly and took the time to give us some really great recommendations. I ordered the lavender cucumber gin cocktail which was delicious... Perfect thing to enjoy on a 90-degree day. We ordered the Tuna Poke bowl to share as an appetizer, which was also really good.. no complaints! Overall: Great spot for cocktails and appetizers on a nice day.

Yelp
This unique Victorian Style home is a surprising location for Hawaiian themed dining. Seared Scallops- The entrée version is also available but the appetizer version which ($9/scallop) and you get 2 was nicely presented as the seared shellfish sat upon a lemon beurre blanc, however the scallops could have been left on the fire for another minute as they were room temperature on the outside and slightly too rare on the inside. Branzino- Excellent preparation of a whole fish with lemon slices on the inside and topped with a chimichurri sauce that paired perfectly with each bite of the tender/moist white fish. The skin was also nicely crisp and with the orzo pasta that it layed upon this was a filling dish. Crab Stuffed Salmon- well prepared and another generous portion of salmon fillet stuffed with Dungeness crab and served over a delicate lemon sauce. Chilean Sea Bass- The meaty fish stood firm over a big bowl of udon that was engulfed and in savory broth that you kept going back for.... a very upscale udon presenation! Hamburger- Good size 1/2 pounder cooked medium rare with no frills.....if you have a burger lover in the party, they won't be disappointed. Overall a good meal, but be ready to spend.

Yelp
We came here for our anniversary dinner. We've always walked by this place and the menu was intriguing. The place itself is gorgeous, all the tea lights really serve for a romantic setting. We made a reservation through open table, and noted we were celebrating an anniversary. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendliest girls who wished us a happy anniversary. We were seated and ordered drinks. Our waitress was super nice and made some amazing recommendations. We ordered the coconut prawns to start. They did take a while to come out and our waitress offered us free dessert to make up for the wait. It was unexpected but we were grateful. I ordered the blackened king salmon and my husband ordered the special which was a macadamia mahi mahi. When the food came out, my husband noted that the portions were quite small, but once we tasted the food we were both blown away by how delicious everything was. The sauces our dishes came from were out of this world, and we were actually so full! We decided to go with the bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious. They wrote happy anniversary on it which made us feel so special. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back!

Yelp
I took my family here for the wife's birthday and had a impressive night. We dined outside in front of The Palms shaded patio area. Our waitress was Julie, she was wonderful. She was pleasant and attentive. Our food was flavorful and delectable. Would definitely be returning.

Yelp
Maybe they caught me on the right day, but as a girl from Hawaii, this place has good vibes. The music is on point. The drinks are amazing! We came at happy hour and had POG punch for $5 each!!! It's crazy. Also this place is dog friendly out front. They were attentive to our pup and she had space to roam when she got fidgety. The poke bites were bomb and we also ordered calamari and pulled pork sliders. All from the happy hour menu. Also each $5.

Yelp
Came here for a special occasion, and the experience was A-OK. The restaurant itself is pretty cool. It's in a Victorian Mansion with a nice indoor ambiance and outdoor patio space. The food was alright. They are supposed to be known for their Chilean Sea Bass...pan seared sea bass, sautéed carrots, Maui onions, snowpeas, crimini mushrooms, lipstick peppers, peppered miso gingerbroth, and udon noodles. Though there was a lot in the dish, it was actually pretty bland. The texture of the fish was on the drier side. The Stuffed Halibut on the other hand was pretty good. It had crab, shrimp, brie stuffing, truffle mash, grilled asparagus. I'd definitely recommend this over the Chilean Sea Bass. For dessert, we got the Hula Pie...Oreo cookie crust, cookies 'n cream and coffee ice cream, chocolate sauce. I enjoyed this dessert!
