An Italian Restaurant Departs the Palms Next | Eater Vegas

"A major resort property undergoing a $620 million renovation that encompasses nearly every food-and-beverage outlet; several restaurants and bars are being closed, updated or replaced as part of the overhaul. The work has prompted temporary and permanent changes to the dining roster and signals a significant repositioning of the resort’s culinary lineup." - Susan Stapleton

Love the beach access and shower to use after the beach. Staff was very friendly. The air conditioning is cold and excellent. The rooms are average. The sitting area is very nice, the bed is comfortable enough. Our TV did not work, but that was okay as we were not in the room much. We were comfortable during our visit. It was a great place to sleep. They even held our luggage for us after we checked out before we went to our hotel, this allowed us to explore more!

The palms cafe is a must do on Padre Island. Peaceful relaxing setting, great staff and quality well priced food. Share a cheeseburger and fries so you have room for the key lime pie! They have great breakfast, sandwiches and muscles! Don’t forget the virgin strawberry, mango mixed daiquiris. Only $4.00 and the attentive staff split it for us old folks! Enjoy!

Great vibes. Great location. Clean. Older hotel but the rooms are spacious with a kitchenette (no stove), full size refrigerator, microwave, and table to eat. The cafe at the back has good food and great view of the beach. Convenient access to the beach with umbrellas and chairs to rent. We first stayed at Margaritaville, which had ours own advantages bit had to switch hotels for to extending our stay and lack of availability. We came to the Palms and wish we had stayed here or whole trip. They are pretty friendly. We came with 2 dogs and a cat. There is a free like all other places but reasonable. Parking is a bit tight but doable. And there is more parking across the street. The bed is comfortable too. More comfortable than Margaritaville was. The people are friendly and have good vibes all around. We definitely will be back.

The intention of this review is to report this information to the owners of the Palms Resort. Most of the staff was really nice and genuinely lovely people. Management was short tempered and indifferent. Needs to work on her people skills. She is difficult to talk with and opinionated. When I fell on the on the uneven steps, I had 3 ribs knocked out by the fall. I was definitely shaken and in pain. I avoided her as much as possible. Due to the fall, I decided to leave early to go home. Recently, I called the Palms to get some information, not book a stay. Katherine, management, got on the phone and screamed she would not rent to me. I was stunned by the behavior. The owners of the Palms Resort need to re-evaluate this person. I am in my 70's and have never been treated abusively like this.

Comfortable room with great AC and fan above the bed for cool sleeping. Kitchen is handy but only for real basic stuff. Bring your own eating utensils if you think you’re going to need them. Friendly and helpful staff. Cafe restaurant has some of the best food on the island. Very easy beach access. Pool was heated and plenty of chairs to lounge and read in the sun. Very calm and peaceful surroundings! Highly recommend.

I came to their cafe and it was horrible. The waitress was in her own world. First of all she brought us our food before she brought our drinks. AND she brought us the wrong orders. There food is mid mostly here for the views but come on i get she’s an older lady but she wasn’t checking on us at all. We will consider coming back but please talk to your staff.

The Palms Resort has outstanding customer service and we’re so grateful for them! We had some last minute issues come up with our infant and they helped us out immensely. They were caring and made things stress free. We are excited to book at the Palms Resort South Padre Island again this fall!

At first glance, you see that it is an older building in a great spot with beach access. The room was clean and the A/C worked well. Bed and pillows were not comfortable at all, and didn't sleep well. The water temp in the shower was either cold or burning hot. Got back to our room in the evening and had zero internet, as this was blamed on a area wide internet outage so we were unable to use to TV to watch anything. I'd stay here again only if it were a last resort to find a place with beach access, other than that it's a NO to return.
