An Italian Restaurant Departs the Palms Next | Eater Vegas

"A major resort property undergoing a $620 million renovation that encompasses nearly every food-and-beverage outlet; several restaurants and bars are being closed, updated or replaced as part of the overhaul. The work has prompted temporary and permanent changes to the dining roster and signals a significant repositioning of the resort’s culinary lineup." - Susan Stapleton

We stayed here one night when passing through and it was perfect! Room was quiet, clean, well stocked, and the cafe was so close and convenient. Cozy bed and the AC worked great! Beach access is directly outside and it wasn’t crowded. Shower was great and the full size fridge was convenient. A+ will return!

Google
The palms cafe is a must do on Padre Island. Peaceful relaxing setting, great staff and quality well priced food. Share a cheeseburger and fries so you have room for the key lime pie! They have great breakfast, sandwiches and muscles! Don’t forget the virgin strawberry, mango mixed daiquiris. Only $4.00 and the attentive staff split it for us old folks! Enjoy!

Google
Cute Cute Cute! Kinda vintage/retro and beachy. Clean, big rooms, nice people! New hotels seem so sterile, noisy and uninviting, I'll take this place over any of that! Plus, they have an excellent restaurant with great breakfast!

Google
Love the beach access and shower to use after the beach. Staff was very friendly. The air conditioning is cold and excellent. The rooms are average. The sitting area is very nice, the bed is comfortable enough. Our TV did not work, but that was okay as we were not in the room much. We were comfortable during our visit. It was a great place to sleep. They even held our luggage for us after we checked out before we went to our hotel, this allowed us to explore more!

The intention of this review is to report this information to the owners of the Palms Resort. Most of the staff was really nice and genuinely lovely people. Management was short tempered and indifferent. Needs to work on her people skills. She is difficult to talk with and opinionated. When I fell on the on the uneven steps, I had 3 ribs knocked out by the fall. I was definitely shaken and in pain. I avoided her as much as possible. Due to the fall, I decided to leave early to go home. Recently, I called the Palms to get some information, not book a stay. Katherine, management, got on the phone and screamed she would not rent to me. I was stunned by the behavior. The owners of the Palms Resort need to re-evaluate this person. I am in my 70's and have never been treated abusively like this.

Google
Came in after hours and they have a number to call and they guide you so that you can get access to your room and check in the next day. Rooms are clean and cool plus the access to the beachfront is steps away.

We have never stayed here, but have been there more than once for food. Excellent food and wonderful service!

Google
Great vibes. Great location. Clean. Older hotel but the rooms are spacious with a kitchenette (no stove), full size refrigerator, microwave, and table to eat. The cafe at the back has good food and great view of the beach. Convenient access to the beach with umbrellas and chairs to rent. We first stayed at Margaritaville, which had ours own advantages bit had to switch hotels for to extending our stay and lack of availability. We came to the Palms and wish we had stayed here or whole trip. They are pretty friendly. We came with 2 dogs and a cat. There is a free like all other places but reasonable. Parking is a bit tight but doable. And there is more parking across the street. The bed is comfortable too. More comfortable than Margaritaville was. The people are friendly and have good vibes all around. We definitely will be back.

Yelp
The Palms Resort was good to my daughters and me from May 28-30, 2025. We had room #216 which was minimally decorated with geo shapes and some beachy items. Everything from the pull-out bed in the couch, to the the kitchenette, the queen bed, and the very small bathroom area was clean. Our Beachfront Queen Suite room for 1 adult and 2 children came out to $526.52. PROS The views of the Gulf, the friendly staff, the short walks to the beach, a cafe with a full bar downstairs that offers all three meals, and the existence of an outdoor pool were my favorite things. The overall property was clean and trash-free. No rowdy neighbors. It was peaceful both nights even with the restaurant directly below us. I was able to back my Jeep into the same parking spot each time even when the cafe was packed. CONS Our door did not possess the tight-fitting seal I wish it had. Ants on the balcony, crawling up the main entry door. Water bugs in the bathroom on the second night. Pool filters were not working. Worn-out boardwalk and decks. The place could use some maintenance and fixing up and bug control, but overall I was happy and felt safe. My girls were happy.

Yelp
My first time here was when I came with some extended family... It has good food the service was ok waitress didn't really check up on the table much only to take orders and drop off food then to drop off the tickets. But one thing i would recommend for the whole area where people eat is put more shading and more mister fans Especially for the high hours were the sun is its hottest...

Yelp
Offers great Beachfront with its own beach access. We stayed here and dined here as well. Great for brunch or lunch. We've had both and loved the food. The outdoors only restaurant/bar is toward the back, overlooking the ocean shore. The rooms were clean and affordable.

Yelp
We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast sitting outside by the golf. Warm with a slight breeze, perfect way to enjoy brunch. We purchased four different entrées at our table, every one of them made it all the way to the clean clay plate club. Our server was kind and attentive to our every need, definitely a place I'd be comfortable going back to any time.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch. Was kinda hard to find since it's attached to a motel on the beach side. I had their fried shrimp basket with fries and cold slaw. A Bloody Mary to wash it down. My wife had their seafood bisque with a mojito. Everything was delicious my wife loved the bisque. We will be back for sure now we know where it is. Plus it's right on the beach.

Yelp
This is an excellent restaurant with an incredible view, and the food was outstanding and the service was amazing. I had the mussels and I was in heaven

Yelp
I have struggled with whether to leave this review or not. Especially since my stay here was in mid-March. Here's why I decided to. The Palms Resort emailed me after our stay asking if we would review our stay. They asked me to respond to some questions. I am not one to complain and I did not bring any of my concerns to the staff, but I decided to write them back. In closing my email to them I said they could contact me about my concerns. And I fully expected that out of professional courtesy, they would respond. After 4 weeks of hearing nothing, I resubmitted my review to them. And as of yet, I have heard nothing. I know they don't have to contact me, but I do feel they should have. Below is what I sent to them in answering the questions they sent me... #1.  Unfortunately,  I would rate it a 2.  I arrived at The Palms and was greeted by a friendly, bubbly woman.  I had a website pulled up where I could book a room with 2 beds for $1,300.00ish for my 7 nights.  The woman at the front desk said she could get it for me for $1,050.00ish.  So I closed my website and said I would go with your price.  She said it was on the first floor.  I asked what was available on the 2nd floor and she said I could get a king bed on the 2nd floor for $1,150.00ish.  I said I would take that one instead.  So we did the paperwork and ran my credit card to pay, and she said it was $1,440.00ish.  I said thats not right.  She said she must have missed something when quoting me the price.  At that point I wasn't going to deal with trying to get her to cancel payment and start over to get charged the $1,150.00ish.  But I was quite disappointed.   #2.  I would rate arrival a 2.  But departure I would rate a 5.  Very easy checkout. #3.  I would rate this a 5.  Other than the the check in, the staff were very helpful, happy and courteous! #4.  I would rate this a 2.  Again, not one to complain, I chose not to bring the tiny ants that were roaming on our kitchen counter our entire visit.  I also had to clean the whole toilet seat, including where it attaches to the bowl.  We also had to buy a can of deodorizer because the room had a very strong oder to it.  We think it was coming from the air conditioner.  The fitted sheet was too small for the mattress.  It was constantly coming loose from the mattress. #5.  I would rate the overall property a 4.  The reason for that is that the parking is atrocious! I did not include in the review that the bathroom is tiny, tiny, tiny. And the whole room needs an upgrade, including paint, furniture and

Yelp
This review is an addendum to my last review with a few added items tacked on. We decided on a five day vacation in October when the rates are at their lowest. Since we were here, almost 6 months ago, they have since painted the outside of all the hotel doors, but left the old worn out locks and door handles. This queen size bed was slightly more comfortable than the last one, but it's still crowded for two adults. The toilet is so small it looks like it was salvaged from an old preschool. Two things they really need are black out curtains and a proper locking deadbolt that can be locked from the outside. However, for $80 a day, not including taxes it's still an acceptable place to be next to the beach.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place! Delicious, nice atmosphere, wait staff was very attentive, they were prompt and very kind. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Our South Padre home away from home. The staff are super chill and the amazing restaurant and beach access make all our lazy beach-lounging dreams come true. We did have one little issue on Easter weekend that i felt could have been resolved more kindly. the Easter bunny delivered eggs to my 6yo daughter right outside our room on Easter Sunday around 5am, and by 6am they were stolen. We walked down to the beach to watch the sunrise and by the time we came back up to the room they were all gone. We had passed some teenagers at the beach access and I'd guess it was them. Teens will teen I guess, but when I casually mentioned it to the staff the man I spoke to got really defensive and almost accusatory like we had it coming for having the eggs out there.. I just never in my wildest dreams thought someone would take Easter eggs that they didn't put out... literally taking candy from a baby. Anyway, we learned our lesson. Don't leave anything outside your rooms cuz I think local sticky fingers prowl around in the early mornings to see what people have left out.

Yelp
Really a great place, you get a actual key, haven't seen one for years really nice people. It's just what you think of a typical beach side resort on South Padre Island, I would recommend it to anyone if you're looking for that noncommercial small atmosphere, but not a B&B, is it enjoy? I did.

Yelp
Went here for the fried oysters which are great. Ended up ordering their bisque - wonderfully seasoned - and falling in love with their chicken tortilla soup. Went back for that a second night

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed staying at The Palms Resort. The room was clean and very comfortable. Will definitely stay there again! Also, the cafe was delicious!

Yelp
This is definitely a hidden gem in SPI. Located at the back of the one story motel from years past, this open air dining spot is a little piece of hav n on earth. Beach front, beach views while you dine on exquisitely prepared seafood, burgers, breakfast, mixed drinks, etc. Don't leave this one o

Yelp
Loved this place. Personally, I hate the 60 story hotels. This little place has two stories with a common balcony wrapping around the second floor. Great way to meet and talk to your new neighbors. The room was clean and quite. Never heard a dog bark in the five days I was there. The beach is nice and clean and goes on for miles. I never went in the pool because my belly is fat and I felt uncomfortable swimming while the folks in the restaurant look on. A little privacy screen might be nice. Honestly, nobody eating their dinner should have to look up and see this old body! The outdoor restaurant looks nice and gets great reviews and has a nice little bar if you feel like walking down to hang out for a bit. The woman at the front desk was very helpful whenever I needed anything. I believe her name was Jennifer and she was awesome.

Maribel B.

Yelp
good food and nice outdoor eating area looking out at the water (beach). i ordered a taco for $9 and a mimosa for $6. my friend ordered the $27 blt Benedict with crab meat, not so thrilled about it but I didn't order that I tried a sample. but the ambience is nice patio sitting down area pet friendly they'll bring a water bowl for your fur friend.

Yelp
I can not believe after all the years of me visiting the island I never stopped in at The Palms Resort. What a great spot. It has everything you need. Beach access, restaurant, heated pool, parking, and clean (well equipped) rooms. The lobby was so clean that my 6 year old said it smells like Cancun in here. I look forward to my next visit to The Palms Resort!

Yelp
This place is super cute, with the BEST café attached. I cannot recommend it enough. Excellent service, and close to the beach. It's got a retro feel, so if you're expecting resort, go elsewhere. If you want excellent food, clean accommodations, and easy beach access - this is it.

Yelp
Best dog training ever! We send our pups thru multiple classes, and they are good, obedient furry friends. Definitely recommend!!!

Yelp
Service could use an upgrade, food was ok nothing to write home about, may not need to give this place another try.

Yelp
Showed up and they obviously had staffing issues. We waited at the bar with 7 other customers who were in line to order drinks while waiting for their tables. After 20 minutes, they announced they were no longer taking orders from customers at the bar because their seated customers were having to wait too long for their drinks. Fine, we said. Then, two customers stepped up to the bar and were served quickly even after they had just told us that we could not order at the bar. Holy crap. . I was pretty angry. The bartender saw my frustration and took our order of six drinks. But then he said, "First, I have to make some drinks for a table first". Wtf?. At this point, I said to forget it and asked to speak with the manager. I explained my frustration to the manager and he said there was nothing he could do because his seated customers were priority. He then said that if we didn't like it, we could go somewhere else. He offered nothing to make us feel better about the way we were treated, so we left. Such ridiculous and disrespectful treatment. Avoid this place! The manager needs some training on how to handle these situations.

Yelp
Bathroom tiles have discoloration and dark spotting in shower stall, new sheets & pillowcases left at door in plastic bag, huge stains when held up at the light, we had to call to receive soap, toiletries a new box of tissues, the one we had from the first night was already opened beneath our bathroom sink, our bed sheets were starchy and sticky, the room was humid & we were unable to set our a/c at a set temperature, as it kept resetting to 74 ° & the floors looked like they had not been swept or mopped at all in weeks. We had to call them the past two days to get our room clean and they will not give us a refund.
google avatar

Carli B.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay here. It's not the nicest or fanciest place in town but it's clean and the pool was enjoyable. The location can't be beat and the restaurant is pretty good, if not overpriced. We'd stay here again.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I love this place! We have been coming here every year for 14 years. Small, nice (small) pool. It is a short walk to the beach. The downsides are: They really seem to not be taking care of the rooms that well anymore. It has never been fancy, but it was functional. This trip, I had a light that didn't work in my room. The water pressure was a mist-I couldn't rinse shampoo out very well. My mattress was horrible--they were always thin and not comfortable, but now it felt lumpy. Our second room had two lights that didn't work, the tv and mattress sucked-also no water pressure. I hope they spend some money fixing up the rooms. I highly recommend breakfast at the cafe. It is always excellent. Lunch and dinner are solid (good fried shrimp/fish), but the menu has remained the same pretty much the same for the 14 years we have been going. We will be back.
google avatar

Roel Kristy V.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel and ate at the restaurant twice while here. Room was clean and comfortable. Would stay again. The food at the cafe was very good. Hand breaded gulf shrimp was delicious as was the fried shrimp. The drinks were good and the prices fair. The only criticism I have is related to the behavior of the morning servers. Molly, the bartender, was polite and focused. However, two servers (Tracy? Terry?) and another younger red head talked negatively about their customers the whole time we were there. That was disappointing and less than professional.
google avatar

Sierra S.

Yelp
Very helpful and friendly staff, super clean rooms that were well insulated against outside noise. Yummy food at the attached restaurant with good service. The rooms are a bit dated and the water pressure in the shower was terrible, took forever to wash the shampoo out of my hair. I assume it's some type of water saving device that causes the low water pressure, but at least there was plenty of hot water. The best thing is that its located right on the beach! You walk out of your room and in about 20 feet you are in the water, fantastic!
google avatar

Cassie H.

Yelp
So relaxing finding a room with WiFi, a pool, a cafe with many options and of course the beach. The rooms are accommodating with a bed and futon, extra linen plus a few channels on the tv for the kids
google avatar

C P.

Yelp
We will start with it is very fast beach access, loved location. Nice staff and like quaint place. For the price it was pretty clean. Small rooms, clean refrigerator, coffee maker, phone, table and chairs, nice tv. Would like to see housekeeping deep clean the shower. Older place but quite, quaint small. I was little disappointed the queen suite, not a good separation between parents and children for sleeping quarters room. Maybe if we decide to come back again maybe choose a different room more spacious, if available. The sofa sleeper is small for 2 children but they dealt with the days. Pet Friendly with a charge. The restaurant was ok, we eat once. Since we like to go to the beach most the time we probably give it a different chance because it's so close to the beach and nice staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok place had the Beach combo breakfast and my husband had the smoked salmon with a poached egg . Mine was was pretty good , liked his but I personally did not . Alonso got the OJ it wasn't good at all it tasted old but overall an ok place

Yelp
Not a good start- just checked in, they didn't have the king bed we reserved. At a couple hundred a night, I wish I had what we reserved over the phone.... Front desk was nice but couldn't help us - just told us to reserve online next time, even though their website directed us to call them for a reservation. Then offered us an upgrade to the suite w/ a king for only $300 /night - no thanks. They also hadn't noted later noon (vs 11am) checkout and had to note that. Someone isn't taking notes when you phone reservations are made! we asked front desk to tell the manager we weren't happy about the queen bed. Great location! Right on the beach, cafe connected/located next door. Small pool available to guests. That is where the stars come from

Yelp
We ordered the beef bacon wrapped filet mignon from the 2F Cattle Company. The cut was juicy and flavorful. I was surprisingly satisfied with my meal and wished for more. The Godiva chocolate cake for dessert also satisfied our sweet tooth.

Yelp
Where do I begin? There are so many complaints I need to lodge, it's ridiculous...but here goes: - I received the pre-registration email and went ahead and completed that 2 days prior, but never received an email with the room entry code. So we arrived around 4:15p on Thurs, May 13...no one was at the desk; I was only able to check in by happenstance because a guy saw me in the parking lot, looking confused and asked if I was checking in. He checked me in, but I had to give him my information a 2nd time (that I filled out on the pre-registration already), he gave me the room code & our parking passes, which I was led to believe would be in our room once we arrived. - Upon entry into room 601, me & my family were shocked...completely shocked!! We had booked a 3 bedroom, but what we got was nothing but...!!! - The 3rd supposed bedroom was nothing more than an oversized closet, with 2 mattresses stuffed in, wall to wall.....no walking room, no tv, no room for both their luggage and bodies at the same time! (see picture attached) This was a MASSIVE MISREPRESENTATION!!! - This was the worst room any of us have ever stayed in -- the furniture & furnishings had to be from 1975, everything was old!! (also see pictures attached) - The stove only had 2 working burners. - The hall bathroom's sink faucet leaked the whole time we were there. - There was no extra toilet paper, so thank God we had brought our own, SMH! - It was moldy, musty and not properly cleaned, as promised -- in the master bathroom, there were piss stains left on the toilet! - The curtains were ripped, the blinds in the 2nd & "third bedroom" were torn or broken. (see picture) - The mattress in the 2nd bedroom was completely lopsided. - We couldn't exchange used towels for new ones, because there was never anyone at the front desk. - So when it came time to check out, we left at 8am and again, because no one was at the desk, we couldn't properly check out since it was before 9am. I left a note & had to call back after we were halfway home to make sure we were checked out. When I say the WORST, I mean the worst!! If me & my husband were alone, we would have immediately left and stayed somewhere else....but I had my mother in law and sisters with me and we were vacationing for the 1st time in over a year because of Covid and other personal family reasons!! This was supposed to be a relaxing vacation and the only thing that saved us was the oceanfront view/beach access from this crappy room!! From the beginning to the very end -- the processes, the procedures, the advertisement, the room itself....everything was wrong with this hotel & room!!!!

Yelp
What a treasure to find a white sandy beach in front of a small warm friendly hotel. This 1960 beache hotel has 30 rooms that is nestled between semi high rise condos with a Cafe Bistro and Full bar. I cannot wait to go back to just watch sunrises outside my room and swim in the warm salty gulf water. Between 2-6 pm is happy hour with great Margaritas for 3.75$ and 1/2pound of shrimp for 11.95$ at the Palm Cafe' on the beach. In the morning the Cafe has a great menu selection....I had Eggs Benedict Excellently prepared, and my son had the Palms Light Breakfast (1 egg, 1 pancakes, 2 thick bacon slices and hash browns) ohh with real Maple Syrup for 8.50$. The staff were warm and friendly even when they had a hiccup with some facility issues they made sure we were okay and kept us informed (grease trap backed up which created a terrible smell but only lasted several hours) Life happens and we totally understood. The Palm Resort reminds me of Beach Boys and Freddie Fender times when life was simple and we acknowledged our neighbors. check it out

Yelp
Throwback 60's kind of place that is right on the beach. If you want a clean, laid back friendly place to stay and dont want to take an elevator 20 levels down, then hike 200 yards to the beach then this is your place. The beachside restaurant behind it is an island secret and the food is that good.

Yelp
I can't believe I had never been to this restaurant. It's located at the Palm resort facing the beach. Wonderful view. Food is very good. A bit overpriced, but quality was there. I had the fried fish and shrimp combo, which could definitely feed two people. I would be remiss if I didn't try the seafood bisque, it was very delicious. I highly recommend you order it. The seating is limited so I definitely wouldn't go during a busy time of day. Beware of birds that fly through the dining area.

Yelp
This is a unique and quaint beachfront property nestled between big old condos. Fast walk and your toes are in the beautiful sands of the gulf. It has an outdoor heated pool, full service cafe that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar and the yummy Bloody Marys on the whole Island. Rooms are clean and offers a refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave. One and enjoy the ocean view and gentle breezes. You won't be disappointed. We will be back.

Yelp
Great spot! Outdoor late evening dining and yummy margaritas. Our waiter was the best! We will return before our trip is over.

Jeanne D.

Yelp
The location & surrounding of this small restaurant are awesome The food is good The service is terrible Been here 3 times now on our trip & each time the service got worse Don't expect any service after your food is delivered Each time we never saw a our waiter till we were done & they brought the check The first time our waitress got our order messed up The second time the waitress was just cruse with her language The third time the waiter acted put out because my elderly parents just wanted water to drink The he brought me a margarita w salt that I ordered w/o salt & told me All he was going to do was pour it on another glass Then said it's going to be a long time because the bartender has to make a whole new batch which he emphasizes He literally brings it back & throws it down in front of me & it spills everywhere & he just walks off I asked for a new waiter Not much better Will not be back here

Yelp
Our favorite place to stay while in SPI! Such a warm and endearing place. The fun and friendly bar is a must ~ And a secret locals fav! Not a big bar so go early and buddy up if needed. Be sure to have a Mudslide or two! Made w Blue Bunny ice cream. This is how my husband and I finished each night we stayed at this small, on the beach motel. The food is great and the menu a mix (to please everyone). Grab a shawl to bring with you as depending on the time of year it can get cool along the beach. Just in case you forget to bring something warm, they have blankets to keep you cozy. Don't miss this hidden gem!

Michelle L.

Yelp
Just left the Palms Resort at 5: 30 pm on 6-18-20 . Received a call at 4:30 that the hotel is closing for a deep clean and if we leave early they will refund tonight. When I pressed, the clerk said an employee came in contact with someone that tested COVID positive. I said we'd bel eaving and I wanted a full two day refund and was told no. I went down to the office and demanded my refund which I received finally. While I was being refunded, I overheard a conversation with another patron like the one I had just received. She just told them that there is an epidemic and they wanted to clean. This made me furious. Customers were not being given full information. I still don't know which employee (their area of service, I mean) and when they worked last to determine how exposed we are. The man I'm with has a co-morbid condition and information is crucial. Full disclosure is imperative and that was not forthcoming to all patrons. Stay away, guys!!!

Yelp
I would stay at the hotel if I needed to. My mother said she enjoyed her stay there, and they have a noone-under-25 policy during spring break, which is just fantastic. It's nice to have a safe haven. The restaurant is excellent too. Our server was very attentive. And they have great margaritas. Get the margarita on the rocks if you're being good; the "Perfect Margarita" if you're being bad. The oysters Rockefeller are also a must. Omg, so good. They're expensive, but I mean c'mon, live a little. You're only on this planet once. Just do not, for the love of god, get the coconut shrimp. Waaaay too sweet. I'm sure there is sugar in the batter. And I can understand adding a little, but it should be a light touch. And then on top of that, the dipping sauce that comes with it is pure sugar. (I'm a foodie, and not at *all* a picky eater.) I was so disappointed; I was really looking forward to getting a good plate of coconut shrimp, all day. But I didn't send it back; just boxed it up. I'll probably end up eating it at 2am, anyway. ;) I enjoyed the experience and the amazing view of the ocean. Overall, a great time. Highly recommended. Correction: It's 2am, and I'm snacking on this in bed, and I realize that the shrimp by itself isn't that bad. It must just be the sugar sauce. I dunno. If I ever order this again, I would maybe search the menu for a different dipping sauce from another dish that might pair well with coconut.

Yelp
A jewel on South Padre Island, sitting on the beach of the Gulf of México, this is a small hotel that has it all. The rooms are spacious with microwave & fridge, king size bed & wonderful shower. Very clean. Awsome staff who are extremely helpful & kind. There is a small pool heated in cooler months! Beautiful view of the Gulf!!

Yelp
Very nice place to stay! Great location right on the Gulf! Liked that you could sit by pool or go to beach. Palms restaurant on site was an added bonus to have great food and drinks nearby! Rooms are clean with a kitchenette and couch. Very comfortable beds and thick towels! Friendly staff. Will stay there again!

Yelp
Our first night on South Padre we stayed at one of the corporate chains which was nice. We heard of the Palms Resort from one of the locals on a morning walk. Walking into the office we were greeted with big smiles and made reservations which we extended twice. Katherine the manager, is hands on and you will see her in the office, inspecting the grounds, checking rooms, in the cafe, and asking you how your stay is going. We were greeted every morning walking to the cafe by Ralph the maintenance man. Everyone is so helpful from the front desk, house keeping, and wait staff. Our room was spotless and had a great view of the gulf. This is classic hotel and the ambiance is cozy & friendly. The cafe has very good food, a fully stocked bar & beautiful views of the beach! We are considering staying a month next winter and will be very excited to return.

Yelp
You'll find a friendly reception and a clean room. It's an older hotel that's been repainted, so the plumbing is dated. It works, though. The location is a good mile away from restaurants, etc. so keep that in mind. All in all, nothing special, but little to complain about. I give them kudos for doing their best during the pandemic.

Yelp
Beautiful location. Lovely menu. Food good and fresh. Good margaritas. Definitely try it again. Service was great.

Yelp
First of all this place is a MOTEL not a resort. Absolutely NO BEACHFRONT VIEWS. Nickel and dime charges, extra $50 dollars if you book with an online booking service ("resort fee") which they only let you know upon check in. Overall terrible experience. Walked into the room and noticed scurrying motion under the kitchen counter. Opened a drawer and saw multiple cockroaches scurry behind the counter. Grossed out we left as soon as we came. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. If it is the cheapest option (~$100) and your on a budget would be the only consideration. Went to the Isla Grande instead, that was an actual resort with no hidden fees. Great experience at the Isla Grande.

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant. Nommy! Mmmm, fried shrimp and turbo piña coladas! Right on the gulf side of the island, just steps from the sand. Believe or not, you won't find a lot of restaurants with outdoor gulf side seating, so take advantage! Choose from salads, soups, fish entrees, or an array of friedness! Sweet server, slow service... but that's island life, eh?

Yelp
Pro's - quick walk to the beach, but then there are many... Staff was very nice and accommodating. Con's = Very expensive rooms not worth the dollar you pay, not even close. Old rooms, rusty bathroom, stained tubs, tiles in the room have not been cleaned well for quite awhile. The bedspread when I pulled it back was stained, eww (guess it happens but hey, there is oxy clean). No utencils, cups or kitchware, funny enough they had a coffee machine and coffee though, so I guess it's bring your own stuff. Cafe pricing is higher than Amberjacks and Louis, without the sunset, so beware, it's better to Motel 6 it, and drive 4 blocks to the beach for literally 50% of the price, much cleaner, newer and a plastic cup in the bathroom area, lol.
