"Sure it’s a fairly touristy thing to do, but leaving Amsterdam without having the famous pancakes at least once is nothing short of culinary sin. This no-frills, canal-side pancake house is consistently packed, but the customizable poffertjes (teeny, quarter-sized flapjacks) and oversized Dutch pancakes (the savory variations on the classic, particularly the pizza-inspired one, are a game changer) are well worth braving the lines. Plus, the all-day hours mean you can come after the breakfast/lunch rush hour. "

Worth the wait! Wife enjoyed the hot chocolate and we ordered a savory ham/cheese/onion which was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The sweets did not disappoint either and the warm cherries were the highlight of the meal. Staff also gets extra kudos - which is unusual for us in Europe - when our waiter noticed my wife had a sore throat he immediately offered to make her some hot water with lemon and honey. Needless to say a very generous tip was left.

We came around 11am on a Sunday so we JUST beat the rush apparently. As we were eating the place filled up with a line outside. It looks like it’s a tiny little space but it’s actually huge! Tons of seating though it’s packed in tight and quite dark with a moody feel. There’s a handful of tables outside so if you’re aiming for those, best come early! Food was good although the bacon was burned a bit in spots and the eggs were way overcooked for what I requested. Great selection of food choices and pannenkoeken whether you prefer sweet or savory. The orange juice was fresh and delicious and the prices were reasonable for Amsterdam. The bread that came with the omelette was simply plain sliced sandwich bread with no butter, jam, etc. so if you’re expecting otherwise, just a fair warning so you’re not disappointed. Though the drinks, as others have noted, were pricey, that’s not exclusive to this place as everywhere in Amsterdam has expensive drinks, whether it’s a juice, soda, tea, coffee etc. What stuck out to me the most was that the laminated menus were all sticky as were the tables. Not that something was left behind on them sticky, but that constant handling that leaves a thin film of grime sticky so I don’t believe they get wiped down thoroughly (tables), if at all (menus). That left me questioning what else might not be cleaned thoroughly. Overall a decent experience and worth going.

We were there after lunch and were able to get right in. Staff was friendly. There are few terrace seats. It is dark inside, but it is relaxing. Both sweet and side dish pancakes are available. Omelets are also available. I think this store is for tourists. It is close to the flea market. I did not know pancakes in Amsterdam are like thick French crepes. I liked all the toppings which can be added.

Google
We came without a reservation and hence were lucky to have a seat before the crowd came. We ordered the ham, cheese, and mushroom pancake. It was above average, but I believed the other options may be better than it as it was really just a pan cake with the ham and mushroom on it. The crew there were polite, friendly, and able to make small talks to make patrons feel comfortable and engaged, which was a bonus. Will come back when I am around the place to try the other options.

Google
We came on a family member’s recommendation and were not disappointed! The pancakes are incredible, and I was thrilled they had them as a whole wheat flour option. We all opted for savory which was delicious. We came across delicious food all over Amsterdam, but this is the only review I’m posting because the service made it an absolute stand-out. Our waiter was attentive, kind, and genuine in saying, “My pleasure.” When we left, I didn’t realize I’d forgotten a bag of chocolates I’d purchased, and he ran down the block to catch up to us to give them to me. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

The food was good and the staff was friendly! I enjoyed the setting with the low lighting and decorations, though maybe the seating space was a little narrow. I was personally glad to discover the sweet sauces, they went very well with the bacon.

Google
Charming spot with delicious Dutch pancakes, hearty omelettes, and a surprisingly incredible onion soup—definitely a hidden gem on the menu! The traditional atmosphere adds a cozy, nostalgic touch. Just a heads-up: the entrance and ceilings are a bit low, so watch your head on the way in. Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place for breakfast or brunch!

Google
This place was recommended by our hotel concierge. It has a nice location by the canal in an old converted canal house. Interior is architecturally, interesting, but somewhat cramped for space. menu is easy to read with vegetarian options clearly identified. Food was excellent. We ordered vegetarian pancakes and shareable nachos. Perhaps that they are not used to having a group of vegetarians come in. The server began listing out a bunch of specials and when we explained that we were vegetarian, he seemed somewhat blunt and stated that he was just letting us know the specials and then proceeded to complete the list! Nevertheless, service was very attentive once the orders were taken. It is a must try if you are a vegetarian visiting Amsterdam.

Yelp
came here for lunch on christmas day and there was no wait at all - the place is surprisingly large and seats many people. we ordered the savory pancake with bacon, mushrooms, and cheese as well as a french onion soup. the pancake was DELICIOUS. it's hearty and heavy and warms you up on a cold day. it's so cheesy and crispy, the taste reminds me of brazilian cheese bread. the french onion soup was also amazing. comes out hot with so much cheese. it doesn't taste like your typical french onion soup - this one has hints of oregano/italian seasoning/tomato - but i loved it. highly recommend this place for people looking for authentic dutch breakfast.

Yelp
The Pancake Bakery in Amsterdam is an incredible hidden gem! After visiting the Anne Frank House, we noticed a small sign leading down a few stairs into this cozy restaurant. Despite how busy it was, we were seated immediately a pleasant surprise on a bustling morning. Their menu is impressively extensive, offering both savory and sweet pancake options to suit any craving. I chose the sweet strawberry pancakes, and they were absolutely out of this world fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. If you're ever in Amsterdam, this spot is a must visit. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Restaurant with variety of pancakes and Dutch pancakes. Came here on a weekday for an early dinner and shared a Caprese pancake and poffertjes. The pancake was quite large and a good size to split between three people. Indoor and outdoor seating. Credit cards accepted. There are vegetarian options. Shoutout to our waiter Rein was so funny and personable. We had a chill time eating here and would recommend this spot if you're looking for a place that has pancakes to share.
google avatar

Zach O.

Yelp
All of my friends back home said the one food I need to try in Amsterdam was poffertjes. This was my first time trying them and they did not let me down! Sure they are basically mini pancakes, but the way each one is the perfect bite with the perfect amount of toppings and flavors mixed together makes it so good. And idk what's in the Dutch syrup, but that stuff is addicting! To top it all off, this place is right along the water so you can enjoy the boats passing by and everything. Life doesn't get much better than that!
google avatar

Frank Y.

Yelp
We went here for a late lunch after visiting the Anne Frank House. Hearty meal in a warm, inviting holiday atmosphere with great service. The pancakes are massive and could probably be shared by most with normal appetites. Be aware that when they top it with ice cream it's with three scoops ! I had the split pea soup which comes with rye bread and ham. Perfect balance of seasoning and thickness, and ideal amount for a smaller meal. Garlic bread (very buttery) and nachos are also good for those looking for a more American meal.
google avatar

Deepthi T.

Yelp
The portions are large! Enjoy a coffee and the amazing crepes. They have a large menu with lots of sweet and savory variety. There is lots of indoor seating and the staff were kind!

Yelp
I came here due to the great reviews and wanting to try Dutch pancakes while in Amsterdam. However, the experience and food felt mediocre. We ordered the Dutch pancakes and Caprese pancake which had pesto sauce, tomato, and basil. I chose the Caprese pancake because I love the ingredients, but it was extremely salty and I could barely finish half of it. The Dutch pancake tasted better, but it was nothing special other than the mini stroopwaffles on it. The restaurant was not full, but the staff was rushing us to order and asking multiple times whether we needed anything else when we just wanted to sit a bit longer. I felt like this was unusual for Europe, after our trip in Paris. As a result, we didn't end up staying for long. To top it off, the waiter informed us of the 3 tip options on the card machine. After, they asked us "which option we would like to pick" so they could press it on the machine for us. I understand treating the staff for service, but didn't appreciate how they basically forced the tips on us. I would like the option to choose for myself based on our experience. Service was quite abrupt, and they didn't go above and beyond other than coming to take our order. Overall, it was quite a miss and I don't understand the hype if you've had similar crepes or pancakes elsewhere.

Yelp
If you are looking to try some traditional Dutch pancakes in Amsterdam, this is the place to go! I got a pancake with apple, cinnamon ice cream, cinnamon liquor, and whipped cream (€17) - I mean, how could that combo not be delicious! The most unique part of the pancake is that it was huge and flatter than "normal" pancakes and the topping were pretty special as well. I especially liked how the apples were infused within the pancake and the cinnamon flavor along with the coldness of the ice cream perfectly complemented the warm pancake. Plus, the portion size made it worth the price. As a bonus, the fresh orange juice (€6) was very good too. The restaurant is conveniently located right next to the Jordaan area, right next to a canal. It has both the nice canal-side vibe as well as a more homey interior which is decorated with historic Dutch decor and photographs. The staff are very friendly and the service speed is quick. Overall, with a wide selection of tasty Dutch pancakes and a nice environment, The Pancake Bakery earns 5 stars from me!

Yelp
Very good. Great family place. Pretty busy and crowded but enjoyable. Food was good we got some sweet pancakes tasted like a dessert!
google avatar

Maria W.

Yelp
This was the cutest restaurant. I never had an omelet so big & served with salad. I had a Canadian Omelet and it was amazing! The omelet was so big, it took up more than half of the plate. The orange juice tasted like someone had squeezed the oranges right overtop of my glass (delicious & so fresh)! I loved the dim lighting in the restaurant and the service was good as well.
google avatar

Florence K.

Yelp
First time trying Danish pancakes and boy, does it taste like a crepe. I got a sweet pancake as a dessert (peach cream pancake). It was a lot for one person and a bit too sweet! Service was quick as well. I will come back to try the savory pancake!
google avatar

Yelp
This was a must-go on my Amsterdam food list and was so glad we were able to make it. Their pancakes were phenomenal and I can't recommend this place enough if you're in Amsterdam! Between my husband and myself, we tried a sweet and a savory pancake. For the sweet pancake, we had the peach with cherry liquor, ice cream, and whipped cream. The light cinnamon sprinkled across the whole thing tied everything together. The pancake wasn't overpoweringly sweet, but the vanilla ice cream was a great touch to complete this dish. For our savory pancake, we went with the chicken with cheese and mushroom. Oh my, this was my FAVORITE. At first sight, it looked a bit plain since it was pretty flat compared with our sweet pancake but looks can be deceiving. This pancake was perfect with the slightly crispy edges, cheesy center, and chicken laced throughout. I couldn't get enough of this dish!
google avatar

Esther B.

Yelp
You can't go to Amsterdam without trying their pancakes and poffertjes. And if you're going to do it anywhere, do it at The Pancake Bakery. I don't even have a sweet tooth but I would go every day if I could.
google avatar

Ryna D.

Yelp
Ah Dutch pancakes! They certainly know how to do breakfast right! Had a small queue when we went but we didn't have to wait very long. We were rewarded with excellent pannenkoeken and poffertjes. Pancakes here are closer to crepes, just FYI and my husband and I shared a savory pancake and a sweet plate of poffertjes.
google avatar

Denise V.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The Amsterdam version of a pancake is like crepe with fresh Apple slices. And the Poffertjes were delicious and I recommend getting it with chocolate syrup. Service here was great and friendly. The environment is old classics building of Amsterdam and very cozy. I would definitely recommend this place for some pancakes.
google avatar

Yelp
When in Amsterdam, one must have some Dutch pancakes. If you're new to Dutch pancakes, they're a hybrid of an American thick, fluffy pancake and a thin, crispy French crepe. They come with a wide range of fillings from sweet to savory. We decided to try one of each and ordered the Dutch Pancake (€18.25) and Pancake with Bacon, Cheese, and Mushrooms (€15.95). These pancakes are huge and is probably more than enough per person. We enjoyed the savory one a lot, which had lots of fillings. I'm usually more of a savory than sweet person though. Because the Dutch pancake had ice cream, it started melting quite quickly. We couldn't finish the sweet one, but still solid. There seems to often be a line here, but it goes by fairly quick. They are seating people quicker than people are leaving, so be a little patient.
google avatar

Courtney O.

Yelp
When in Amsterdam, get Dutch pancakes! The large size may overwhelm you at first, but they are a lot thinner than American pancakes (and in my opinion- more delicious too!) To me, they actually felt similar to Korean pancakes, especially because I went with a savory option. I opted for the Canadian pancake that had crispy bacon, ham, onions, mushroom and cheese in it and came with a side of bbq sauce. It was phenomenal! My husband got a banana nutella pancake, but the savory option was the clear winner. I loved that the bacon was crispy and there were whole large pieces of the bacon and ham inside. These pancakes are absolutely delectable and something I'll miss about Amsterdam! The location is large, but the tables fill up quickly. We arrived at 9am to a fairly empty restaurant, but by the time we left at 10am, the whole place was packed. It is conveniently located near the Anne Frank House along the canal.

Yelp
A friend recommended this spot to us. Apparently he came here everyday when he visited, so we definitely made the effort to visit. We were visiting for 2 days, pouring rain each day. This place was a welcome break midday for a snack break. We didn't have to wait long, just one couple in front of us as we went mid afternoon. I ordered apple cinnamon pancake and my boyfriend got chocolate syrup with bananas. I had a coffee to warm up and came with a cute little cookie to munch on while we waited. Service was friendly.
google avatar

Rich S.

Yelp
Kids gots the omelette - very very good I had to get the specialty pancake - bacon mushroom and cheese. It was very good, but I liked the omelette better - which I attribute to my American palette. Delicious coffee, everyone enjoyed the meal.

Yelp
I wanted to make sure I tried some poffertjes while in Amsterdam so I ended up eating here as well as De Carrousel Pannenkoeken and I can say with certainty that The Pancake Bakery was the better of the two and is a must stop for anyone in the area (especially since it's so close to the Anne Frank House). I got the poffertjes with chocolate sauce as well as a ham and cheese omelette. While the serving size/amount of mini pancakes you get is less here compared to De Carrousel, these ones just taste so much better. They were softer inside and basically melted in your mouth while De Carrousel version was denser and was more akin to pancakes you'd make at home with over mixed batter. These also had a perfectly thin crispness to the outer shell whereas the mini pancakes at De Carrousel where just soft and less satisfying to eat. The omelette was huge by the way. Delicious but huge so my mom and I easily shared it. I enjoyed the side salad that went along with it too. If you're looking for a place to try poffertjes/Dutch mini pancakes for the first time, I highly recommend The Pancake Bakery! Plus the location is great considering most tourists will be at the Anne Frank House at some point. De Carrousel Pannenkoeken is still ok if you're in that area and while you do get more mini pancakes on your plate, the ones made here definitively taste better and are of a higher quality in my opinion.

Yelp
I never liked crepes till today. The Brie with the cashews, fantastic . The Onion soup was really good with a lot of cheese and large portion, too much to finish. I found this place on yelp and had to cross like 7 canals to find . You can hear them cooking and smell the ingredient's.
google avatar

Yvonne S.

Yelp
We came here on a foodie tour, so you know that they are reliable and good. The service is top notch, and I loved seeing how they make the pofferjes. Yummy!! Great hot beverages and such an indulgence in the pancakes Must try!

Yelp
This was our last sit down meal in Amsterdam, so glad they open late so we can have Dutch pancakes for dinner. We weren't even hungry but I don't think we can ever find tasty authentic Dutch pancakes back in SoCal. Something about the cheese or the crispiness of the crepe pancakes just makes it so much better. And of course here at The Pancake Bakery is no exception. We enjoyed the chicken, cheese, and mushroom pancake to its fullest. Wish we had room for a dessert pancake. However, because we had Winkel 43 apple pie right before this meal, there was simply no room. Everyday is pancake day in Amsterdam, I highly recommend The Pancake Bakery for dinner, and Pancakes Amsterdam for breakfast when you wake up!
google avatar

Garry S.

Yelp
-Customer service: great -Food quality: pancakes were amazing. Chicken and cheese savory pancake was fire. Lemon & sugar pancake was simply awesome. -Bang for your buck: every penny -Would I return? ya
google avatar

Allan A.

Yelp
A Dutch pancake is just like a crepe. The one I got was full of Mexican flavors, including guacamole, corn, and chicken. It also had pineapple which was different.
google avatar

Brittney M.

Yelp
food quality: 5/5 service: 5/5 cleanliness: 5/5 value: 5/5 This came highly recommended by several people and I'm so glad we tried this. It is worth the hype. This restaurant is known for their Dutch pancakes of course, and their Poffertjes were so delicious! We arrived on. Monday afternoon and it was fairly busy, but the wait wasn't too bad. The staff was very nice and welcoming and quick to take our order. The food came out fast and tasted amazing! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for real Dutch Pancakes and Poffertjes!
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
AMAZING BREAKFAST! Quality food at a great price - definitely order the poffertjes if the breakfast doesn't fill you up. Great ambiance as we ate outside next to the canal! People are very nice!!
google avatar

Chloe S.

Yelp
Light and crispy pancakes, although if you're more used to American style fluffy pancakes these are more reminiscent of a crepe style meal. You can chose from a selection of toppings our party went with a sweet and savory option, the cinnamon apple, bacon mushroom cheese and chicken mushroom cheese. Of the three the apple cinnamon was the standout dish, the apples are still crispy and not the overly stewed. Served with ice cream and whip cream you would think the dish would be over sugary but it wasn't! The bacon was definitely the winner of the two savory dishes, the strips of bacons were cooked inside the pancake which made for a more wiggly texture to which I preferred! We found the chicken one to be a bit on the drier side also there wasn't much cheese pull action going on but the pancake was still delicious nonetheless. Make sure you order the small fluffy pancakes to share as they again weren't too sweet and the mini portions made for a fun dish to snack on!
google avatar

Vika S.

Yelp
Good place to dine. It's clearly a tourist trap, but it's the one where you won't regret spending that much. Omlette was average and small pancakes were okay. The pancake with walnut ice cream and amaretto was absolutely worth it though! Lovely staff.
google avatar

Hector B.

Yelp
Nice sized place with plenty of room and ciean. Lighting was perfect for a comfy place! Service was on target and what was needed. the food was fun and tasty. This is my first savory pancake in Amsterdam. It's like a crepe, light and thin. With bacon was great and salty, which balanced out the cheese and pineapple! I enjoyed it! Pricing was middle high, but not bad. Overall, I'm happy! When can you eat a pancake and enjoy a beer and it fit!? Right!?
google avatar

Cinthia K.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick snack, along with a friend, when we were in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago. My friend wanted to try out a Dutch pancake, which they certainly had. I opted to get an order of their poffertjes, which are Dutch mini pancakes. My friend adored her pancake and we both absolutely loved the poffertjes we tried here. We were pleased with our respective choices, despite going to an otherwise touristy restaurant. If you're curious about trying out Dutch pancakes and/or poffertjes, try this place out!
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
I don't care if this is in Amsterdam. You MUST try this spot. In the mornings, the line does get a little long. However, we went in the evening and had pancakes for dinner. No complaints here! I ordered the omelette and my wife ordered the pancake with mandarins and honey. We both ATE it up. The inside is actually quite large and able to fit many guests. Service was also very quick and welcoming. If I'm ever back in Amsterdam, this is one of the spots I'm bookmarking to visit again.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Walked over after visiting the Anne Frank Haus Museum. At 6p there was a short line which went fast. We ordered 2 savory pancakes and one sweet pancake to share. The Indonesian has a peanut sauce and is a little on the sweeter side. I actually liked the flavor. The Thai pancake was filled with chicken curry and was quite delicious and filling. Our Apple pancake was our dessert. The pancakes are thinner like crepes with a crispy edge, not like the American fluffy ones. All were delicious and the service was quick. Servers were friendly. Great experience!
google avatar

Sania I.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the pancakes here! The banana and Nutella combo is a must-try, and the hot chocolate is simply delicious--definitely a winner. Worth the wait, in my opinion! The casual, family-friendly ambiance adds to the experience. The service here is also fantastic!
google avatar

Patrick R.

Yelp
Well, I was told to go to the Pancake Bakery because it was the best, and boy was I not disappointed. The line was long but well worth the 45 minute wait. They have so many options and we went with the original dutch sweet version with bananas and nutella. I also had the French Onion Soup, which was very delicious and then we had the garlic bread. Overall the food was great and the servers were nice and some of them even very funny. Make sure you go visit this place. It is well worth it!
google avatar

Rami H.

Yelp
I'm not a pancake fan, but when you are in Amsterdam you have to try them. Luckily for me, I had The Pancake Bakery very close to my hotel. My wife and I ordered one pancake and shared it. It was very delicious and fresh. Friendly staff and fast service. I also noticed many other Americans eating there.
google avatar

Brooke L.

Yelp
Amazing Dutch pancakes! Worth the wait (usually a small wait on Saturday afternoons). I've never tasted a pancake like this - it was light and airy. They have sooo many flavors so make sure you take a good look at the menu. We got the plain pancake and the apple cinnamon (with green apples). They also offer breakfast options and sometimes seasonal soups. We will need to come back for the Dutch pea soup! If you're in the area visiting the Anne Frank House, this is a place you must stop by!
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
The pancakes here are brilliant and it's very neat how the restaurant is tucked into the ground level. Overall the ambiance is quite nice, servers were great and our meal was tasty and plenty. My only issue with this place was that it felt quite touristy. When we travel we prefer to stay away from heavily trafficked touristy places. The food was authentic but the vibe of the place was not. This is subjective and potentially unfair but this is how we felt while there. I would recommend to other travelers but would warn of this.

Yelp
Yelp again FTW. For my first trip to Amsterdam, everyone told me to make sure I had pancakes. Some google searching paired with Yelp reviews led me to this restaurant only a 10 minute walk from my hotel Famished upon arrival, I let my eyes get the best of my stomach. Being so indecisive, I couldn't choose between savory or sweet. Intend to prefer savory for breakfast but everyone raves about apple pancakes - so, why not both! The waiter looked at me incredulously as I ordered the Indonesian pancake and the apple pancake with cinnamon ice cream and cinnamon liqueur. Ok, I know it's far too much, but...c'mon! I'll start by saying the Indonesian pancake - chicken, leeks, in a peanut sauce was disappointing. I was hoping for more of a Horst of spice and flavor and this missed the mark. Bit, perhaps that is because it was wholly overshadowed by the apple pancake. Holy cow! This was a masterpiece. Deliciously sweet without being cloying. A hint of the liquor without being overwhelmed. I'd had nothing like this in my pancake experience - it was truly as advertised being somewhere between a crepe and the American pancake. Oh yes, I'll be back. So many more to try...
google avatar

Kristie P.

Yelp
No trip to Amsterdam is complete without a visit here. They have both savory and sweet options. There is usually a wait and service is slow, but it's worth it!!

Kevan M.

Yelp
The multitude of Dutch pancake choices is amazing. I loved the Cheese, Bacon & Mushroom and the Apple & Bacon pancakes!
google avatar

Melchor M.

Yelp
The Hype is Real! After 10X coming to Amsterdam my daughter took me here and boy was it delicious! The portions are massive. Service was second to none love to old school original vibe. We'll be back winter time
google avatar

Katie E.

Yelp
Such a cute spot right by the canals! You can sit outside and be right by them. Inside is a tad dark for my taste, especially for breakfast and I wasn't crazy about the vibe, I don't know that I would have gone if we had to sit inside. We got there first thing in the morning on a Friday and had no problem getting a table. I went with the Pancake breakfast that included 1 Plain pancake, maple syrup, bacon, orange juice and coffee. It wasn't outrageously priced for everything it came with and the pancake was huge. That was my first experience eating an Amsterdam pancake and it didn't disappoint. Was absolutely delicious. They had a ton of topping options and nobody was able to finish all their food. The only downside was the service. It took them awhile to get our order and we found ourselves having to track them down to pay the bill. It almost felt like we were forgotten about outside. If they could get that corrected it would definitely be 5 stars.
google avatar

Alexander R.

Yelp
A fully authentic and very popular spot for some breakfast. The place is set in a very old building and it was beautiful. However, it left a bit to be desired as with most popular spots they seemed too lax on service and the pancakes weren't all that great. The bacon wasn't crisp and the waiter forgot that the breakfast included a cup of Prosecco. How can you forget that! Nonetheless a good time at this place since I make the best of any situation I'm in.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Place was really good. 5 out of 5 stars We had lunch here. Waited like 15-20 min. Worth it. The place is large inside and overall can house like 200 people. Started with the Puffertjes with chocolate. They we're fun. Table seemed to like the plain with sugar over chocolate. Their version of pancake is pretty much a crepe, just so you're not surprised! I had the Dutch, it was amazing, would order again for sure Our kids has the princess pancake. It comes with a crown and princess stuff. Pancake was sprinkled with sprinkles. They loved it and ate the whole thing. Three people in our party had a variation of the bacon and apple, bacon and cheese and ham and cheese. All were what you'd expect. Nothing to write home about but we're good.

Yelp
This was the worst pancake, actually a crepe, that I have ever had. I got the English pancake, which comes with William pears, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. Such a simple combination, I thought what could possibly go wrong. The pancake was actually a thin crepe... although there are a bunch of American pancake spots in Amsterdam, this was not it. Because the crepe was so thin, the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top of the thin crepe melted into a complete puddle of a mess... making the crepe soggy and gross. I felt like I was digging for the pancake and pear, lol... Moreover, the chocolate sauce was absolutely gross. It had a strong cardamom taste to it and was overly sweet. When we asked our waiter about it, she said she had no idea if the chocolate sauce was fresh or if it was artificial... she checked with the chefs and came back saying that it was just the chocolate they used and that she does not think there was cardamom in it. Even though she saw that I barely touched my food, she did not ask if I wanted to order something different or if they can do anything about it... Lastly, they ran out of orange juice and the only option for water to wash down this pancake was a $3 bottle of water. For $17.95 euros, this was by far the most expensive pancake (even compared to NYC standards, where I am from). My friend got a savory option and it was just a thin crepe with pieces of ham and cheese in it. Nothing spectacular and definitely not worth the price tag.

Yelp
I heard this place had really good pancakes but that was an understatement. We waited over an hour to get in as there was a long line but it definitely didn't disappoint. I got a pancake that had bacon inside of it and man was it good. I also loved the Stroop that was on the table as well that was basically the Netherlands version of syrup. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We stopped at the Pancake Bakery on our way to the Royal Palace. We were warmly greeted and took a seat by the window so we could watch the sights. The menu is extensive with an array of sweet and savory pancakes, Dutch breakfast and more traditional breakfast. We opted for a savory pancake and an egg and bacon combo. Portions are very good size and the coffee is front and hot. Good breakfast spot in a convenient location on your walk to Damn Square and the sights.

Yelp
This place is very busy and touristy, but is worth the wait and the crowd. The dishes were large and filling, but they were all delicious. I didn't know that pancakes had so much variety, and this place does it very well. I would definitely come back again,
