Loved almost everything about this theater! It's charming, has beautiful architectural accents, a very friendly, helpful staff, nice selection of beverages & snacks, and just a pleasure to catch a performance. I would've given it 5 stars if seats weren't so close to each other, which was the only thing I didn't like too much, even though the seats themselves were comfortable. Crammed together seats notwithstanding, I'd still recommend you visit, just have patience with your seat neighbor who you may literally be rubbing elbows with lol. An usher told me the auditorium holds 1,146 people.

Google
The Venue is Very Nice, Comfortable Seating, Excellent Sound System ! My Only Complaint were the Cocktails at the Bar, $24 bucks for a Double, which was a Regular Size Drink anywhere else !! This was for Either Wine, or a Vodka Cranberry. I quess this is the Norm Now in South Florida, but with tickets in the $100 plus range ?? Who can Afford to go out anymore ?? I guess a LOT of People… it was Sold Out ! We went to see “Leonid and Friends “, Chicago Tribute Tour, and they Delivered a Top Show !! Every Member of the Band Deserved a Standing Ovation, Great Show !! Leonid

Google
Was on the symphony orchestra concert - it’s amazing. Good sound and comfortable chairs. The hall looks nice and staff is welcoming. Nice and free parking. Like the bar - good choice and adequate prices (15 usd for a glass of wine). 4 stars just because lobby area isn’t spacious enough and even uncomfortable during intermission. And that would be great if they would add some more bins for garbage because the ones they have were filled and trash was even outside.

Google
Nice venue! Small enough to make every seat have a great view and wide aisles that make getting in and out easy.

Google
The Parker is a gorgeous venue. Went there to see the band, They Might Be Giants. You would think that the building is older than what it actually is. I would go back again if the opportunity came up.

Google
Came here for the Ben Folds concert and really love the venue. The seating is such that even up in row V I had a really good view of the stage. The architecture is stunning and the acoustics are first rate. Although the seats around 1200 people, it didn’t feel that big and crowded. Definitely a venue to see a show if in Fort Lauderdale.

Google
A beautifully restored old playhouse in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. It’s an excellent small venue for concerts. I was all the way in the back with great site lines and the sound was perfect. This was my first time there — it won’t be my last!

Google
A stunning, historic theater that’s been beautifully maintained. The seating offers great views from anywhere, and the acoustics are excellent. A perfect spot for live performances.

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite venues for a show. Comfortable seating, affordable drinks and snacks, a varied selection of performers, friendly staff, great sound and lighting. You can't go wrong with a show at the Parker!

Yelp
The Parker Playhouse, located in the picturesque city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a renowned 1,147-seat theatre celebrated for its intimate atmosphere and commitment to high-quality performances. Established by Dr. Louis Parker, a visionary in the arts, the venue has become a cornerstone of the local cultural scene since it first opened its doors on February 6, 1967. That inaugural night saw the curtain rise for the first time with a production of Neil Simon's classic comedy, The Odd Couple, featuring notable performances by E.G. Marshall and Dennis O'Keefe. The seating had ample legroom and unobstructed views, ensuring that we could easily enjoy the show from any seat. We saw a tribute band which was good, but the sound system was not done well.

Yelp
I went there for an event- stand up comedy and it was great!! Staff was amazing and the show was great. I am not sure how it works if someone is trying to book an event there but it was a great place to visit. Valet parking was also available

Yelp
We went to see Margaret Cho here. I love this venue because it is small so really no matter where you sit, you can see! My only major vice is the price of the drinks -although I guess everywhere the prices have gone up! The bartender, Bob couldn't have been friendlier and chock full of information. Told me howling the show was (90 mins); how long the opening act was (30 mins) with no intermission. The other issue there is no middle aisle in the theatre , so it is one long row from end to end...that's a little old fashioned and not great, if there was an issue in the theatre! You can valet ($25) or park on the grass yourself (which is what we did). All in all- a nice theatre to see a good program!

Yelp
This place is not too big and feel cozy. The parking is free. I was there for the Japanese drum concert and I was able to enjoy their music and energetic flow.

Yelp
Love the decor of this small venue and the people assisting are very polite and knowledgeable. The only INSANE THING about this place are the drink prices!!! Paying $16 for a canned drink should be a sin. I spent almost $100 in 3 drinks, a pretzel and a couple other snacks last time. Simply deranged.

Yelp
I chaperoned a 4th grade field trip to watch a performance of "The Nutcracker". It was beautiful storytelling!

Yelp
Saw Tiffany Haddish here and had such a wonderful experience. The staff at the bar kept the lines moving. It seemed long and we only had a few mins before the show started but they moved everyone around quickly and got us our drinks. The ushers were incredible. They did a good job enforcing the rules and helping everyone. Can't wait to catch another show here!

Yelp
Nice event space in Fort Lauderdale. I'm not usually this far north so I had not heard of it before I attended an event there but nice venue. No center aisle, only at the end of the rows so lots of adjusting when people needed to pass by. Generally good seats all around.

Yelp
I haven't been here since I was a kid, and at the time, it was called The Parker Playhouse. I'm glad to see it's still around.. updated/renovated... and better than ever! Came to see comedian Ronny Cheing, and it was a sold-out show. They have plenty of parking, and the process to get in was very easy and super efficient.. even with lots of people. We went and grabbed drinks at the concession before entering, and that was also easy and pretty quick. The interior of the building is well lit, as an upscale classic look to it and the seating is comfortable. What I also like is that the way it's laid out, even if you get a seat that is towards the back, it's still a good view of the stage. Would definitely come back here for shows in the future.

Yelp
I went to the Parker with some friends and I was really impressed with the architecture, lighthing, building, staff and organization. The bar areas were just very nicely set up and staffed. Lots of choices of drinks and food. There were a few staff members with ASK ME signs for anyone to get answers about the theater, show, etc. Very nice setup. I was surprised with the large amount of ushers, pretty much one per each entry door into the concert hall and many many of them in the lobby ready to help,. The concert hall was huge and you enter depending on having odd or even number tickets. Being a theater of less than 2000 seats, no seat is really a bad seat. The one complain that we had was that the sound mix for the event we attended was really poor, some of the sounds came through very muffled and not very clear. Parking is easy with options of valet or self park (this last one you reach by diving past the main entrance and almost as you get to Federal).

Yelp
This is a fantastic night out for anyone who enjoys live music. Prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of performances provided. We have seen several performances and have yet to be disappointed. We saw the Christmas show, Frank Sinatra, Meat Loft and recently the Motown show which was wonderful. The venue is beautiful, with terrific attendants who are personable and accommodating. The seating is well designed for optimum view of the stage from wherever you are seated and the acoustics are excellent for a wonderful sound experience. Parking is plentiful and valet is available. This is a well organized and professionally provided venue for a great evening out and I encourage people to explore the variety of entertainment offered and try it out.

Yelp
What a facelift and more! What was a tired grand dame of a 1960s vintage, is now a new 1,100+ seat state-of-the-art cutting edge performance stage! The lobby is spectacular, and importantly, the main men's room is larger and has good flow to quickly get us in and out. We were recently at the Todrick Hall concert and the sound and lighting systems are great. The only downside is they kept the continental seating with no middle aisle. People constantly getting up to leave means half the row has to stand up. Also the row we were in was the first "mezzanine" row which we thought that would be good for viewing. Nope. They put chairs in front of us and the patrons were constantly standing up (because people kept walking in front of them in the aisle). It was even worse after intermission because ushers didn't care if seat fillers came from the cheap seats to block our paid views.

Yelp
We have been to the Parker for two shows lately. The Eagles and Beatles tribute bands. The entertainment was great. The venue is wonderful. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. It is a medium size venue with all the bells and whistles - tons of Ushers, a nice selection of snacks, drinks, free parking and valet. The free parking is on the grass but there were plenty of attendants directing us where to park. It is in a great location in Ft Lauderdale to many of the local restaurants. We will look for more shows to attend at the Parker.

Yelp
When the handicap parking lot is full and you can't walk on graveled ground you get to pay $25 for valet. When you ask an usher if there is an accessable way to get to your seat so you don't have to slowly and painfully walk up two flights of stairs, instead of giving a suggestion or having an elevator or even ramp you get a look as if you have three heads. When I said I need an accessable way up I was given serious attitude and told I can walk to the front and walk up even more steps that are just less steep. I don't feel the need to explain my life story that has led me to needing accessable access that should be ADA compliant. This place is Compliant for having some handicap parking and sliding doors with not needing to go up stairs to come in but if you want to watch the show expect to not be able to have easy access. You need to have ushers that understand that young people or even people without wheelchairs could have issues getting to their seats and not to be talked to with an attitude.

Yelp
The ushers here need to get a grip. Maybe next time I should let my students use the bathroom in their chairs? I've also seen adults recording performances. However, when I took out my phone to take notes of some of the information the presenter provided to accurately complete an interactive activity with my students she insisted I was recording when I clearly wasn't. But yet no other adult was confronted. I am truly disgusted with the micro aggressions I've experienced from multiple ushers at this venue. Otherwise, this is beautiful theater with wonderful educational events for students. The ignorance is something that is hard to tolerate.

Yelp
3/11/2024- Dave Mason Concert- It's been 20 years since I last visited The Parker. ( Due to moving out of State) I was excited to return to see Dave Mason ..(As a widow traveling alone I felt safe and comfortable) First of all I applaud management! 5 Stars for a warm and welcoming experience and atmosphere! From the ease of security to the attentive staff, amazing bartenders, knowledgeable volunteer ushers and managers- all set the tone for a memorable and exciting musical experience! The venue is absolutely breathtaking! A true throwback to classical concert halls but with all the modern conveniences! The renovations are on point! I upgraded my experience to "The Place to Be " lounge! I highly recommend this upgrade no matter what the cost! Amazing!! The lovely Ladies that greet you and scan your ticket are informative and welcoming. A wrist band is placed on your wrist and you are able to enjoy the lounge for one hour before the performance and during intermission! The lounge is down 6 steps and has private restrooms. Relaxing colors and comfy seating sets the stage for a wonderful VIP experience! A small but delicious cold and hot buffet is available.. our choices were: individual shrimp cocktail, crudités, cheese and cracker display,Swedish meatballs, cheesy flatbread, couscous! A dessert buffet, coffee, a variety of cookies, the makings of s'mores.. including a delicious shortbread/chocolate scones! Then there is a full bar with our amazing bartender, Scott! He suggested an Amaretto sour! Let me try a small taste and if I didn't like it he would make me a different drink! I loved it! I've never had one before but love amaretto! He was personable and very accommodating! Everything was delicious and the hot plates were constantly being refreshed! The young lady attending the buffet was also friendly, attentive and professional! Totally a great value for a very VIP experience! The lobby and foyers are beautiful and easy to navigate! Signage is clear! You know exactly where you need to enter the Theatre.. Seating is continuous, no break or center aisle. The seats are comfortable but very small. The acoustics are excellent and truly not a bad seat in the house. The foyer has a giant screen tv and great speakers so you won't miss a minute if you have to leave to use the restroom. The entire experience was wonderful! (Dave Mason was amazing! His voice is on point! Unbelievable! Sounds like he did in the 70's at The Lonestar Cafe in NYC! I've seen him over 60 times in 5 different States! since the 70's! Truly my number one favorite of all time!) The ushers are friendly, professional and knowledgeable! If they are all volunteers you have trained them well! Congratulations and thank you for creating a spectacular venue with a 5 Star Experience! I look forward to returning!!

Yelp
This is a lovely venue for a show. My first visit here and it's very impressive how orderly they bring in all the cars and how efficiently they get them into spaces [for free]. We parked perfectly so we know that the exit would be easy. We just waited for most of the cars to leave before we did. A quick walk to the theater and we entered the beautiful lobby where we just relaxed for a few minutes. I did have to make a restroom stop and must say that the men's room was really nice. very modern and sleek. Back to the lobby and our seats. The theater is beautiful. I had just learned that they went through a major renovation. Great job. What I really like are the very large Isles and extremely comfortable seats. Our show was 90 minutes and it makes a huge difference to be sitting in a comfortable seat. The sound here was perfect. Great acoustics. Show over and it's a very organized exit and easy walk right back to the parking lot.

Yelp
Beautiful venue. Can't believe I've never been here before. Located in the heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. We had dinner around the corner at Casa Sensei prior to our show. My friend invited me to join her to see Phil Rosenthal from Somebody Feed Phil. We arrived about 30 minutes before showtime. There were plenty of parking attendants guiding everyone towards the back of the venue for parking on the grass lot. Very quick and efficient. When you walk into Parker Playhouse, the space looks new and fairly modern with a few gorgeous details such as the high ceilings and chandeliers. Quite lovely. The bathrooms were super clean too. They offer refreshments, snacks and drinks at the refreshment stand. The theatre space itself is very intimate. We got to sit smack dab in the center so that was nice. We really enjoyed this show, Phil Rosenthal is THE BEST!!!! I went into this blindly as I have never seen Somebody Feed Phil but it's been on my watch list forever now. After seeing this show, I am definitely going to binge watch all 6 seasons! Phil is genuine, charming and incredibly funny! The timing on his jokes and commentary is on point. Like I could not stop laughing during the entire show. You can also tell he has made a huge impact on his fans, they all looooooove him! I can totally see why. I love him too and this is the first time I'm seeing him. Fabulous show!

Yelp
What a fantastic intimate performance venue that's in my own neighborhood! I saw Andy Summers here last Thursday. We had great seats but it doesn't seem like there are any bad seats here. They have a really great selection of performers here. The Ukrainian Ballet is coming here the end of this month and Flock of Seagulls will be here in January! Parking was free and easy behind the building in a fenced in field, but I may just walk next time. You really should check out the eclectic program of performances scheduled for the coming months!

Yelp
It was great to be back at the Parker Playhouse since they remodeled last year. The lobby has a very modern look and the floors sparkle. I noticed what looked like private lounges which I don't remember being there before. I've always enjoyed being at the Playhouse since the seats are confortable and there is more space between the rows of seating then the average theater. Parking is free and right next to the theater.

Yelp
Absolutely love The Parker Playhouse! Super easy parking right off US1 in Fort Lauderdale with a valet option. I saw Don Felder of the Eagles and the show was fantastic! The venue holds around 1,100 with not a bad seat in the house. They have a full bar and for an additional $40 pp you can get into a smaller room with food and drinks provided. I'm not sure if this is available every show but it was for the Don Felder concert. I've been several times now and it's a really awesome venue for concerts or stage plays. Highly recommend if your in town. Edit: more info on the Haller Club. For $40 pp you get an hour in this special room before the show with complimentary wine and premium beers, hot and cold hors d'oeuvres included but mixed drinks are served at a lower price than concessions. It's a definite for us next time.

Yelp
I love this beautiful venue. Built February 6, 1967. One of Fort Lauderdale's first venues, A 1,147 seat theater, Remodeled like new. The Acoustics are amazing. I'll tell you this is my new favorite venue for concerts. The Haller Club is a must add on with your tickets. all inclusive! price includes complimentary soft drinks, premium beer and wine, coffee and tea (mixed drinks and spirits starting one hour prior to show time and during intermission, The mixed drinks and spirits available are priced lower than lobby concession prices. It's a deal and to be honest it's not fun drinking refreshments in the lobby. Plenty of seats, tables and great food served. Free parking at this venue- yes I said free. It's a special place. Overall this venue is a winner and my new favorite place to see a show.

Yelp
Very pleasant concert experience hearing the fantastic band The Mavericks. Free parking (which is no small thing) on a big grassy field with guys waving you to your post. Able to exit quickly. Polite and efficient staff/volunteers. The building is a playhouse, so many famous actors have performed over the decades. Beautifully appointed and with perfect, sharp acoustics. Seats spacious and unusually comfortable; plenty of leg room. Bar and some snacks. Expensive. Water $5, wine $15. Like going to the ballpark. Bathrooms pristine.

Yelp
The Parker is a beautiful venue and has been a cultural icon in Fort Lauderdale since 1967. It has recently been remodeled and seats 1147 guests. All seats have unobstructed views, the rows are wide, so you don't have to stand up every time someone comes or goes, and the acoustics are good. For an additional $40 you can purchase a ticket to the Haller club, an upscale space which includes free beer, wine, hors d'oeuvres, and desserts one hour before performance time, and during intermission. One of the best perks of visiting the Parker is free parking, valet is available if that is your preference. The Parker Has something for everyone, music, dance and comedy. I recommend a visit to the Parker for a lovely evening out

Yelp
I've been here twice... the second time I hardly recognized it since they had remodeled inside and looks amazing! Beautiful chandeliers, new rug floors, concession stand with drinks and some snacks, and new theater style seating so every seat has a good view of the stage. I also love that this is a smaller venue so, again, view of the stage is guaranteed and the acoustics/ sound is very good too. The place is clean, ushers are always helpful showing you to your seats, and doing their best to keep the audience quiet and not interrupting the show/ performances. Parking is easy, and organized. You can either valet or self park at the appointed lots, always guided by some of their staff. Great venue to come watch a show/ musical, and feel classy and comfortable at the same time.

Yelp
Beautiful intimate venue, lots of free parking for the events there. My only complaint is the drink prices, they're Miami high.

Yelp
The Parker Playhouse is a magnificent theater. We traveled from Fort Myers to The Parker in Fort Lauderdale to see the Musical Box. It's a grand, beautiful theater! It made us feel like we were really attending a special event. The temperature was comfortable (it was cool outside.) The seating configuration was perfect; the sight line of each seat is staggered so everyone can see well. The inclination of the room was also perfect; some modern theaters are built so flat that it's hard to see over the person in front (MGM Rocksino in Northfield Ohio, for example.) I guess the seats were comfortable, since I didn't even notice them lol. My only complaint is that the music was too loud, which is common nowadays, although really dumb if the concert producers consider the demographics of the audience. But this is not really the fault of the Parker staff. Also kind of weird that their parking lot is grass and dirt and kind of low class compared to the theater itself. But that's a minor detail. Overall, this place is a gem! I can't wait to return to the Parker!

Yelp
March 21, 2025 - this review has only to do with The Parker website, NON-COMMUNICATION with the public. Don't get me wrong I love the theater and the performances there. We have tickets tonight March 21, 2025 and added an extra $40 for The Hallard Club only to find yesterday looking through my Junk Mail that Ticket Master will be refunding us the $40 for The Hallard Club. I immediately went onto The Parker website to see if information was posted on why The Hallard Club was not available for tonight's performance and NOTHING was posted. This is disgraceful because I am sure whoever paid for The Hallard Club tonight may not be aware that it is closed. The Parker should get their "Act Together" and keep their customers updated on any sudden changes. I also have tickets for June 21, 2025 performance with $40 added on for The Hallard Club, hopefully we won't be closed out of that day.

Yelp
What a great concert venue! We were there for a Tower of Power concert. It seemed that every seat in the house has good sight lines. Parking is free. Nice restaurants within blocks.

Yelp
Went to see the Tina Turner Tribute show last night. The first show at Parker since the remodeling. We were really impressed with the atmosphere and service at the food and beverage counters which seems to be expanded so the wait times are basically non existent. Starting with the parking, they do have Valet but there is so much self parking, valet is not needed if people are capable of walking from the grass lot to the entrance. The atmosphere is classier but not pretentious and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. There is great security here now as you must go through an x-ray medal detector and there were armed police security inside and they all made a point to smile and say hi when you walked by them. They have a full bar and snacks which you can bring inside the show. Another change at last nights show was we were allowed to take pictures and videos of the performance as long as we did not use a flash. So I do not have to sneak. Lol. The auditorium is not so big and there is not a bad seat in the place. I noticed also that the rows of seats are not too close to the row directly in front of us, so finally if someone has to get up and walk in front of you to get out, there is enough room for them to walk without you having to stand up to let them through. Acoustics are great and the stage is large with plenty of room for different types of entertainment. I noticed the line up coming and we are really interested in some of the shows coming. A great diversity of entertainment. We are actually thinking of getting season tickets to get better seating and get to see some Broadway type shows and other musical concerts. The two tribute shows we've sent there were really fun. The atmosphere really is conducive to a lot of interaction with others in the audience and is really loose and fun. Of course the entertainment has a lot to do with it. Recommend looking at the schedules and give it a try. We bought our tickets online on the Parker Playhouse site. Eat, drink and enjoy the show!!!

Yelp
They recently renovated and did a beautiful job and restoring the Parker back to its former beauty. The color palette is regal the feel is retro but contemporary at the same time. Parking is free for now on the grass and delightful to be able to park without an investment. Stocked bar and coffee with snacks, which I find annoying that they bring them into into the theater where you smell and listen to them chew. Theater post COVID Is am experience. We walked out of the manic Rupi Kauer performance og grammers and iPhone recordings Ugh. But the Parker was beautiful indeed.

Yelp
The Parker Playhouse, now called just "The Parker," has been a Fort Lauderdale institution since 1967. It is now a part of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and there are performances of all kinds on different nights of the week: concerts, tribute bands, comedy acts & plays. The theater has been recently remodeled, and there really aren't any bad seats in the house. There are rows of seats with entrances on both sides of the stage. The aisles are wide enough to walk down; although I wish they would have added drink holders in the arm rests. (Especially since they do have several bars, and they were open for business during my March 2022 visit.). They also offer valet parking; however there is plenty of free parking in the grassy areas surrounding the venue if you don't mind trekking 2-3 minutes through the grass/dirt. On our visit we saw "A Bronx Tale," as told by creator Chazz Palminteri. We were in row R and we could see the stage really well and the acoustics were good as well. I have attended many events here over the years from Everclear and Ann Wilson concerts to children's theater shows with buses of elementary students. It's a really nice place to see a show; more intimate than the Broward Center, but still pretty classy and comfortable.
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first visit to The Parker. It is a marvelous playhouse, beautifully decorated interior and exterior. Once you walk in, seats that are even numbered are on the right of the building, and odd numbers seats are on the left. Although you can walk in any of the theatre entrances and walk across the assigned row to find your seat. The top rows are separated by the sound booth. There is valet parking for $25 and self parking on the grass area. Snacks and drinks can be purchased in the lobby concession stand. For $40, you can enter the Haller Club, which offers complimentary food and drinks. Mixed drinks and spirits are sold at a preferred price.

Dr. Lascelle S.

Yelp
Great location and venue. Valet parking is an issue as there was a backlog for retrieving my car. The process needs to be updated and modified.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great venue. Not a bad seat in the house. The staff and security were all very nice and helpful.

Yelp
Parker Playhouse and War Memorial Auditorium were the two main venues when I was growing up in Broward County. Since those days there's so much more to do and places to go. I still have fond memories of my times at Parker Playhouse. It's true I may not have been astute at acoustics but I was comfortable in my seat. I'm recommending you take the opportunity to see a show if you are in the area.

Mark P.

Yelp
Went to see multiple artists perform in this venue and was surprised with the comfort and great acoustics

Yelp
Came here for the Mommy Dearest tour ft Stassi. Really loved the Playhouse and security. Had a perfect view of the stage even from far up. Very elegant and intimate experience.

Yelp
I watched Sarah Milligan here tonight and the newly renovated building certainly matched her level of comedy. I was told that the playhouse just went through a $57m renovation and that the ceiling above the stairs was made in Italy specifically for the playhouse. The snack bar was very well designed and the indoor facade, which used to be the outside facade, is elegant enough work being overbearing. The entire building is a classy and welcoming example of the detail and care that stood be put into humble architecture.

Yelp
The Parker Playhouse was established in 1967 and was one of Fort Lauderdales first venues. The playhouse is managed by the Broward Center For Performing Arts. Obviously after fifty two years this theater is ready for the $25 million transformation planned to take place very soon. The venue is dated and the carpet may have a few stains and not look as pretty as it once did and that's okay; it will once again be beautiful after the much anticipated transformation takes place. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg room so there is no need to worry about getting up if you need to leave the theater. The acoustics are pretty good considering the age of the theater. With just less than 1200 seats, there isn't a bad seat in the house. I love the "old school" look and the dim lighting along with the chandeliers create a sense of elegance. What? Elegance with stained carpet? Yes, it just adds to the charm. When all is said and done the revamped theater will be stunning. We all know the rules; quick bag check before entering, no pictures, no recording, yadda, yadda, yadda. Both valet and self parking are available and it's just a short walk to the parking lot. Unlike most other venues, there is no charge for parking. Entourage membership offers many benefits depending on the level you purchase. Being an Entourage member will allow you to have access to pre show parties, meet and greets and you can purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public. I am looking forward to purchasing an Entourage membership after the theater reopens. I love seeing shows and the benefits are attractive, not to mention tax deductible. I spoke with Amy in the office and she told me the renovations are scheduled to start in August and end in December, but this time frame is not guaranteed. During the renovation process the playhouse will be closed. The small bar is located in the back of the lobby and snacks are limited. I am hoping with the upcoming transformation the new seats will include cup holders. The Parker Playhouse is an oldie but a goodie and I really love the intimate feel of a smaller venue.

Yelp
The Parker Playhouse is run by the Broward Center for the arts and has been in existence for some time, refurbished 25+ years ago. First time here. The acoustics are really excellent, the seats are roomy with a lot of leg room, and the red carpeting seems on the new side. The playhouse house has a large snack bar and convenient bathrooms. This theater has only one floor, so no worries about mezzanines or balconies. Parking is free or valet service $10. There are many different types of shows presented here with some very familiar acts.

Yelp
I've always loved this theater. It was built in 1967. Before the Broward Center for the Performing Arts opened in 1991, the Parker was THE place (the only place in Fort Lauderdale) to see Broadway plays and high quality entertainment acts. Over the years, we've seen quite a few plays here. Years ago (before the Hard Rock, too), we would come here for a show (a play or a top singer or well known comedian) on New Year's eve. We've seen shows as diverse as "Stomp" and "Gumboots" and Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens. And now that it's showing it's age, they're planning a big renovation next year -- especially to the bathrooms, and food concession areas. Tonight we were here to see comedian Randy Rainbow. It was a sell out crowd. And a wonderful, funny, and entertaining event. Meanwhile, the advantages are that the Parker seats just under 1200 at capacity. So it feels intimate -- like you are right on stage. There are no poles or obstructions. Every seat (they're in a raised semi circle) has a good view and good acoustics. The seats are comfortable and there is ample leg room in front of you. You enter on either side of the theater -- seats with odd numbers on the left and even numbers on the right. And each side lobby has a small concession stand with a full bar for drinks and snacks. Downstairs are the restrooms and some chairs and small benches. There are several restrooms for each gender. And on the walls are paintings that you can peruse. The paintings are for sale and change. So if you're there with an intermission, you can busy yourself looking at the art, while waiting for your partner who is lined up to use the facilities. They have valet parking if you pull up in front of the theater. We've been to shows where they've charged for self parking, too, but tonight there was no charge. You are directed to the self parking which is in a grassy area behind the theater. They seem very organized. On entry, they do "wand" everyone and visually check bags and purses. It's a security ritual of today's times, unfortunately. They have a pretty full schedule. You can check it out online. You can purchase tickets onsite at their box office or online. They are now affiliated with the Broward Center so there is some cross advertising/promotions.

Yelp
Wow, they did quite a nice job renovating this venue. The staff were super friendly. Free parking too. Overall, this is a must-see venue, major renovations since COVID.

Yelp
Plan to park in a field and maybe walk through mud. Should have valet option with construction and parking. Also good options are almost extinct or pay 10x for upgraded vending snacks. Venue is well run, clean, comfortable and great spot. Just get the last pieces together. :-)

Yelp
We went to see Post Modern Jukebox which was fantastic. It was our first time back at the Parker since it's renovation and it looks great. It's a perfect small venue. The attendants were very friendly and helpful. The only negative that I can think of is the prices that they charge at the concession but that is to be expected.

Yelp
I went to the Parker Playhouse to see The Soap Myth by Jeff Cohen starring Ed Asner. It's really more of a reading than a play but as a reading it really brought the qualities of the Parker Playhouse to light. The acoustics are totally suburb, especially for a theater with a 1,167 person seating capacity. You could clearly hear every word without any resonating diminishments. Built in a neo-classical style in 1967 and now managed by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts it's almost a Disney Land like standout with its little statutes in the garden and those of artists and faire like ballet dancers. The interior with its red carpeting is good looking and the seats are comfortable. There is plenty of parking but the problem is those cone happy people they have directing the traffic with some who you can only deal with by hand motions and pointing since I have no idea what they speak but it wasn't English, Spanish, Creole or Portuguese. Out of what one would think would be a simple parking procedure, they had when I was there, turned it into a mess of complications and confusions. One person mention it was because of hurricane Irma damage but damage to a parking lot? I don't think so. They are really security conscious here so upon entry you can expect to be screened and checked over. And, as with most theaters, no pictures of videos once the performance begins.

Yelp
In town from Va Beach, VA for the Thanksgiving weekend & while planning the trip, We realized Will Downing would be performing on Sat. Nov. 26th at 8pm. The tickets were reasonable, didn't know anything about the venue or the acoustics. Reviewing the seating it reminded me of the Chrysler Hall, Norfolk VA which I'm not fond of because the rows are very narrow and the damn "late comers." However, the Parker's rows are wider for "late comers", but it's still a recipe for disaster with "late comers carrying drinks in their hands in a dark venue trying to find their seats." Why allow them to purchase drinks if they're late? Oh, I almost forgot....money. Overall I don't think there is bad seat in this place. Our seating were perfectly in the the middle, the seats were comfortable. Oh, and make sure you have a copy of your vaccinations, and the right type of mask (check the website). If you don't have it, they were offering rapid tests probably for a hefty fee...I really can't remember the cost. All I can say is the CDC has been telling everyone since the start of vaccinations to have your proof because you don't know who will ask. If you are an adult, it's your fault and no on else's!!!
