The Parkgate - Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"The Parkgate is a pub built for the West Village. It has your typical trappings like brick walls and Guinness, but it also smells nice and plays Vampire Weekend. The place is a step up from your average burgers-and-pints destination, so if you’re looking for a civilized spot to gather with a group, it’s perfect for that. There are plenty of tables you can book in advance, and the cocktails are very respectable. Drink a martini, and get some tuna tartare or steak frites to go with it. Just keep in mind that this is a West Village bar, which means it gets packed on weekends. photo credit: Sabrina Harrison photo credit: Sabrina Harrison photo credit: Sabrina Harrison Pause Unmute RESERVE A TABLE" - Bryan Kim

A new favorite spot. Hip but not pretentious and a commitment to still being a local watering hole. Park Gate burger is one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. We will be back.

I happened to stop by to see a friend at this restaurant/bar. One of the people who worked here told me it was the old slaughtered lamb, one of the first bars I had a drink in nyc and I think was 16. Well it looks so different for the better. Just ordered the chicken fingers cause I Sheng eaten all day but they have to be the juiciest and crispiest at the same time. To be honest was just thinking I need some food but so pleasantly surprised. Btw it’s a Sunday and everyone here has been so friendly both customers and staff.

One of my go to spots to meet up with friends. The cocktails are great, food’s solid, and the service is always quick, even when it’s busy. The space has a warm, stylish vibe with cool wood details and great music. Crowd’s usually a good mix chill, mature, and fun. Just a consistently great place to spend a night out.

Just did a private event here in the basement for my birthday - such a great time! The room is the perfect atmosphere, felt very chic haha. Staff was super attentive and they let you play your own music too!

Nice place to hangout with friends. Music isn’t too loud and they have a decent number of bathrooms in the basement. The Aperol Spritz was awful but all of our other drinks were good.

Google
Great pub in the heart of Greenwhich Village. Irish Penicillin is a great drink. Also, they have a Lobster Roll for $26 - Chilled claw & knuckle meat, kewpie mayo, chives & tarragon on a brioche roll.

Great spot in the West Village, love the detail around the bar with the mix of teak and marble. The burger and jerk chicken sandwich are amazing! Great cocktail list as well.

If you’re looking for a new spot in west village, you should definitely stop in before it gets too busy. Great cocktails, and the burger was delicious!

Yelp
The parkgate is a cool place. I always thought it to be a pretty bar. Recently, I attended an event there. Downstairs. There is a whole world downstairs. How did I miss this? Shifted my whole paradigm. Maybe I should pay more attention. This isn't a pretty little bar. It has layers once you get to know it and see it in action. At Brunch and in the daylight, the Steak & Eggs is a skirt steak. That is appreciated. As someone who giggles at people who order avocado toast, I appreciate that the one at Parkgate doubles at a BLT with ricotta cream cheese and avocado if you ask nicely. The Burger is solid. steak frites is better than the steak sandwich. Burger is better than the steak sandwich. Steak sandwich is pretty good. It is catching strays in my review for no reason.

Yelp
I have been to this bar twice now and both times really enjoyed myself. The inside is beautiful and small, with a bar in the center and a large restroom in the back. The most recent time I went, I only had water and french fries as I'm participating in sober January, but the time prior I ordered a cocktail which was really well made. My friends enjoyed vodka sodas and beer. If you go early enough in the night, you can snag a seat at the bar but if not, it usually doesn't get extremely crowded. The French fries were some of the best I've had recently. Each fry was perfectly salted, hot and crispy and the portion itself was large enough to share and still be filling. I highly recommend this bar for a more sophisticated yet fun stop on a night out.

Yelp
Overall: This is a new bar on the corner of W 4th St and Jones St. They've been working on this place forever and it finally has partially opened up. Decided to try it on a Saturday evening for drinks. Its a bit of a dark pub style bar. Only the upstairs is open right now, but they're finishing a downstairs area that will open eventually. It was an interesting place for drinks and has potential, but they have a few kinks they need to work out. I'll try it again, but probably only once the whole place is open. Drinks: 4 Service: 3 Value: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Drinks: We ordered a few rounds of beers and cocktails. The draught list isn't very extensive but they had good variety for the limited choices. The cocktails were decent with some interesting options (my girlfriend had the "Oscar the Grouch" drink that was neon green with mezcal and chartreuse). She also tried the "Almalfi Lemon Spritz", but thought it had too strong of a mint flavor. Service: The service was friendly when you could find them. The bar area is a bit of a horseshoe, with one clear area towards the front near the door and another hidden area around the back. There were two servers working and they seemed to frequently forget the back area. They would wander over once in a while, but not quite often enough. Value: Beers were a reasonable price, but the cocktails were $17 and nothing special. Atmosphere: The whole area was quite dark. Everything looks new, and the decor all fits. They're still working on the downstairs area so you have to walk through a bit of their work to get to the bathrooms. The music was very loud for a relatively empty bar when we showed up around 8pm. However, the bar filled up quickly and I've seen lines outside before.

Yelp
Decent steak frites and cocktails, some outdoor seating so you can bring the dog, didn't check out the interior

Yelp
A fun bar that's a little bigger than you'd expect and I was able to snag 2 bar seats around 8pm on a Friday night. It got super busy closer to 9PM where it was hard to walk around the bar, though! I tried the ho-Kay spritz which was nice and refreshing!

Yelp
Usually love this spot, bouncer called me and my boyfriend gay slurs - Won't be back.

Yelp
Honestly so happy this spot opened up! A great new bar in the west village with an ideal layout. Even when it's crowded, more on the later side, there's a lot of different spaces to sit, stand, hang. The crowd is a great mix of ages, not too young. They always have something fun going on, Halloween they had a tarot card reader and fun eyeball Jell-O shots. Service is always quick at the bar, the perfect place to enjoy a Guinness. Oh and the fries are amazing! Highly recommend overall, this will be our go-to in the neighborhood. Beautiful and well done! Happy it opened!

Yelp
Based only on wine, service was good and wine was good. Definitely gets busy as the evening goes on so if you want a table, arrive early.

Yelp
Bartenders who know. Iykyk. Kitchen could close later. Proper Irish pub for Americans. NYU undergrads stay home. PHd and above. Doing it right. Will be back!

Yelp
Have been to this regularly since its opening in the summer and it does not disappoint! The food is top notch and exactly what you want at a west village bar - great menu, good portion sizes and high quality ingredients (particularly the Irish breakfast which uses proper Irish sausage and Heinz beans... which as an Englishmen I appreciate!). But the burger and new brunch menu is also very good... highly recommend the frittata!! The service is always great too! The ambiance through the day is super chill and always have cracking playlists but the weekend DJ performances are a big hit! Highly recommend this spot and will for sure be a big favourite in the west village soon!!

Yelp
Fantastic bar!!!! Staff is as friendly as they come, pints of Guinness were perfect and an amazing atmosphere. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Bartender asked my friend how much she weighed, got aggressive when we defended her, and made us super uncomfortable. Not the vibe and we had to leave. Less than 1 star

Yelp
If you're on the hunt for a new cocktail bar that checks all the boxes--gorgeous interior, creative drinks, delicious food, and a sexy atmosphere--this is the spot. From the moment you step inside, it's clear this isn't your run-of-the-mill cocktail joint. Picture this: mood lighting that makes everyone look at least 20% hotter, plush seating that cradles you like a supportive best friend, and a bar staff so talented they could make a glass of tap water taste artisanal. The cocktails are top-notch--seriously, these drinks are like liquid art. And the food? Oh, they did not phone it in. It's not just an afterthought; the small plates here hold their own, perfectly designed to be devoured between sips of your favorite cocktail. The burger and fries were dangerously good. I'd come back just for those little wonders. The atmosphere is the cherry on top: laid-back but lively, mature crowd, the kind of place that feels like a getaway even if it's five minutes from home. So, if you're looking to impress a date or just hang out with friends in a place that feels both cool and welcoming, this bar is it. I can't wait for the downstairs to open. It will be the perfect spot to make out with some guy I don't like.

Yelp
Great location. Great vibe. However, the pours are not great. My vodka soda was nothing but soda. I literally watched the lady pour it. I don't mind paying for a cocktail but for the love of god give me liquor. The lousy pours do not encourage me to leave a generous tip. Fix it Jesus.

Yelp
Best burger in the city. Better that JG Melon, better than Corner Bistro, and tho this may sound like sacrilege, I'll take it over the BLB from Minetta. Also, side note, most excellent drinks and service and hot crowd. Go for the burger, stay for the ambience.

Yelp
Happened upon a treat of a spot and was treated so well. great neighbourhood joint, with good food and great craic.

Thomas C.

Yelp
horribly rude bartenders and staff, we tried to have an engagement party there and their team couldnt have been more difficult to deal with if they had tried, would highly recommend avoiding this place for any events

Clay T.

Yelp
Weakest pour I've ever had. It's a one and done for us here. It's nice inside, but honestly the worst pour I've ever had.

K P.

Yelp
A bar clearly masterfully constructed by experienced bartenders. A lot of attention given to layout that allows for a good flow. The staff makes you feel like you're visiting your local spot regardless of your reality. Generously sized space yet still feels cozy and welcoming. Beautiful decor choices and a great friendly, energetic vibe. Will definitely be back! Looking forward to the downstairs opening!

Yelp
Drinks are great, bartenders are amazing! Cosmos are 10/10! Kieran the owner was AMAZING!!!! Cannot recommend enough!

Yelp
great spot in west village. tasty menu and bartenders pour and excellent Guinness. With friendly staff and warm decor, expect the Parkgate to be a staple in the neighborhood.

Paul C.

Yelp
Best new bar in West Village. Savage pint of stout with remarkable bartenders who are on point and friendly, making you feel right at home. Keep up the good work lads & ladies:)

B W.

Yelp
Best new bar in the west village! Staff and the owners are amazing and drinks are immaculate! Especially the Guinness. It's a must'!

Kyle C.

Yelp
Incredibly disappointing. I was so excited about this new place opening up in my neighborhood, but what a let down. Owner was rude and dismissive. Drinks were not worth the price. Fries were soggy.

Caroline R.

Yelp
Worst place ever. This guy is so rude who runs it. Don't trust the food. You will literally throw up. And they have horrible drinks. Watch out. Seriously.
