The Parliament of Catalonia

A Parliament that feels like a place for people and politicians, that seem to serve their citizens. We did a free tour, with reservation on their website and we were amazed to learn many interesting things about the Parliament and its functions. Thank you for the opportunity, it was a great honor!

We visited the Parliament on a free visit during the Day of Cataluña (la Diada) The queue was rather long, but at least we didn't have to book in advance, which was great in itself. The building was rather disappointing compared to other regional/national Parliaments. Once inside, it was rather hard to move around since there were too many people allowed at once. It'd need to be better regulated. Some of the rooms felt like they hadn't been touched since the 1980's and needed a good brush up/technological enhancement. It's rather underwhelming for a place that's claiming independence to be a "country" of its own.. Still, a must see. There were some interesting architectural features (eg the Pink Room) and art pieces (eg. Joan Miro painting) We did appreciate the fact that the brochures were available in different languages and not in Catalan only like many other places, which made the visit much more inclusive. The information on them were not necessarily interesting though (only architectural) It would be great to have more cultural/anecdotal informations.

Signed up for the free tour of the Parliament and it was an amazing experience! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and even allowed us to view certain rooms which were not normally available to the public. The explanation was also very clear and there was ample time to take photos and understand Catalonia history. Please do look up online for the available dates beforehand :)

Interesting place, much more lively and active that I expected, from children visiting to politician working, is a place to see

Great place to visit but has to be booked well in advance. We were guides by Guillem who kept the tour very entertaining and relaxed but also informative. Highly recommended!

Wonderful informative tour. ‘William’ the tour guide was a great host in this impressive building. Well worth the visit.

The Palace of the Parliament of Catalunya was built in 1727 as the arsenal of the Ciutadella Fortress. The fortress was demolished in 1841 and the building was used for various purposes, including a barracks, a royal palace, and an art museum. The palace became seat of the Parliament of Catalunya from 1932.
