The Parsonage Inn is a lovely Bed and Breakfast home in a lovely area of Grand Rapids. I stayed in the Wedding Room, which had a nice, huge private bath. The owner upgraded me at no extra cost to a room with a private bath because it was available, and I really appreciated that. They have thought of all the details, including an in-room coffee maker, which was such a blessing, a magnified make-up mirror, and a mini refrigerator available, which I appreciated as I carry medication that has to stay refrigerated. The room was huge and had its own A/C unit, which I also appreciated since I am from the south and am hot natured.
Breakfast was delicious and served by the owner and an assistant, who was just as nice as she could be. One of the things I love about staying at a B and B is meeting and talking to the owners and other guests, and my stay here was perfect in that respect. I only had one night in Grand Rapids, but really wish I could have stayed longer at this fantastic B and B and had more time to talk to the owners. They were so sweet and interesting - I wanted to hear more about their home and their ministry, but I had to hit the road. A good reason to come back, I suppose!
Finally, I think one of the hardest things for a B and B owner/host to balance is to engage enough with guests without over-engaging. The owners of The Parsonage Inn hit this balance perfectly. Interestingly, on my trip, I stayed at two other B and Bs in other towns. At one, the owners were so way too engaged to the point I felt they were more like dorm parents checking up on me (I'm a 52-year-old woman!) and at the other, I felt the owners were not engaged enough.
In short, The Parsonage Inn was a charming and delightful place with delightful people!
