The Parson's Table

We celebrated our 35th anniversary here. We made a 5:30 reservation. They were very busy by the time we left so was needed. Complimentary cornbread and butter was at the table which was a sweeter cornbread. The butter was soft enough to spread because I was sort of crumbly. We ordered the brie as an appetizer, which could have been a little warmer. We got a bottle of wine which was less expensive than two cocktails. The salad was chopped up the way I like it and the vinaigrette was excellent. We split the prime rib and daily special of halibut. The halibut had a pleasant crust on it & the risotto was flavorful. We ordered the prime rib medium; it was more medium rare. They had horseradish sauce upon request. Some bites were too chewy. Our meal was not rushed so it was nice to enjoy our time together.

I have never been so impressed with any other restaurant. We really appreciated how the hostess took the time to update us about the circumstances regarding our wait for our reservation (which really wasn't that long). In my experience, it is rare for staff to let you know what's going on when there is a wait for your table. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and explained how the restaurant organizes the dining experience by pacing out what is ordered. It's already so nice for food not to come all at once but for the waiter to actually explain that to us was so comforting. The drinks, portion sizes, and food were exceptional (crab cake, duck breast, scallops, pineapple upside down cake martini). The entrees even came with two sides and a salad, all included. We thought the prices were quite reasonable. The young man who served some of our food seemed like he was really trying to do a good job, which he did. In fact, he was great. The best part was when our waiter surprised us with candles in our desserts for our anniversary we were celebrating. The building itself is absolutely beautiful with stained glass and multiple intimate table options. We were absolutely blown away and will be making visiting the Parson's Table a tradition when going to Myrtle Beach.

This place came highly recommended to us which is why I’m kinda disappointed. Me and my boyfriend ate here this weekend for our two year anniversary. I had put this on the reservation but nothing was mentioned so I assume their reservation system isn’t that advanced whatever. We were seated in the side room to the left with a couple of other younger couples. It was a bit cramped and I was very disappointed when I went to use the bathroom and saw how gorgeous the main dining area was and couldn’t help but notice lots of older folk sat there. Makes me think they put all the young people in a room because they’re less likely to complain about where they’re seated. Or we just all happened to be unlucky enough that the seating rotation but us there 🤷 I ordered the duck and my boyfriend ordered the New York strip. Corn bread and salad came out to start us off and they were both good nothing to note. Our server, bless her heart, was so sweet and kept checking up on us but not over crowding the table. Service was wonderful no complaints there. The duck I ordered was soy and ginger marinated with a raspberry coulis and it was just bad. It was my fault for not saying anything or sending it back in favor of something else but I ate that whole damn thing mama didn’t raise no quitter. But I felt as though the soy sauce over powered the duck and it just tasted like soy and the raspberry coulis did not pair well either the soy sauce flavor. I think if the sauce was strained as well it would’ve been better as the seeds stuck to my teeth as they do not very pleasant. Strained or not it still doesn’t compliment the soy flavors of the duck which honestly I think that’s what ruined it for me. I tried some of my boyfriend’s steak and it was alright. Kinda just a steak it wasn’t terribly seasoned but it wasn’t overly flavorful. Lacked that oomph that you would expect to come with the price tag. He also got some mushrooms on the side he said were under cooked and under seasoned but I hate mushrooms so I couldn’t tell ya. Overall we left very disappointed. My boyfriend never went to use the bathroom so he didn’t even see the big dining area. We were trying to figure out what kind of room we were in when the place was a church and the most we could think was broom closet or storage room. It really was such a shame on such a special night.

Our dinner was great. Proteins cooked perfectly. Katelyn was a wonderful server. We will definitely be back to try other entres. The wine was good too. Nice to find an upscale restaurant near Shallotte.

Great ambiance. Delicious food, steakhouse was perfectly prepared, prime rib was perfect, duck was savory. Children's menu was more like a regular meal. The cornbread was sweet and moist. A great place to dine.

We had heard about how good the steaks are here while vacationing in Tybee Island,GA and we decided we needed to try it once we returned home. The recommendations were right. Outstanding steaks with great seasoning, as well as an outstanding staff. Our waitress explained the various options for how they prepare the steaks and included her favorites too for both the entree and the sides. She assured us to save room for dessert, which they make in-house daily. Another great recommendation from her. The entire meal was fantastic and we will be returning to The Parson's Table for many more enjoyable meals.

Service was awesome! It's a really cool place. We had a reservation and they seated us right away. The house salad is amazing and so is the cornbread / cracker appetizer. My husband thought his steak was a little under seasoned. I got the fillet and it was perfect but I don't like a lot of seasoning and I understand everybody's going to be different on how much seasoning is enough. I have to say it was uncomfortably warm in there. I was literally sweating and I heard other people complaining about the heat as well. Overall though, I would definitely recommend checking it out! We will be back in cooler weather.

Christmas Eve dinner. We were seated in a small room that had 4 tables in it that had an annoying overhead light fixture that would glare in your face. I ordered the fish special which I never would of done had I known there was red and green peppers served on it, as I hate them. Unfortunately the fish was overcooked and instead of being flaky, it was chewy and I couldn't even cut it with my fork. Server was kind when I told him I could not eat my entree and he offered me another choice. I asked for the broiled seafood platter and it was delicious! We have been dining at the Parsons Table for many years and appreciate the way they treat their customers. Now, just do something about that crappy light fixture. ☺️
