This place looks unassuming. We walked in and it's an old-fashioned bar/restaurant feel. We didn't have a reservation but the owner accommodated.our group of 6. They have a small bar as well. We ordered a few dishes; white sauce clams linguine, Penne with marinara, Chicken Parmigiana, Gnocchi with Alfredo sauce and another Gnocchi with red sauce and prosciutto. My pasta was perfectly al dente and perfectly seasoned. The dinner came with bread and salad or soup. The wedding soup was light and delicious. The staff were really friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Food was delicious. Service was top notch. The server checked back several times to see how we were enjoying the experience. Constantly refilling our waters. Will go back again.

This place is a Rochester gem. Went here with my family from out of town to let them experience Rochester’s Chicken French. We unfortunately had to wait over an hour for a table, so we just ordered some drinks at the bar. The food was good and came out quick. I think the chicken French was lacking flavor. It didn’t taste very lemony or have that distinctive sherry wine flavor, but everything else was wonderful. I’d go back to try other items on their menu! The vibe inside is very old and it was super busy on a Monday night.

As an Irish kid from Pittsford, I never really had a reason to come here. But somehow, I ended up dating a 150% Italian girl from Long Island, New York. I wanted to take her to a solid Italian spot for an early Valentine’s dinner since she lives out of state. Did some quick research, found this place on Google with good reviews, and decided to give it a shot. I was a little skeptical after seeing the photos, but I took the chance. And it worked out. As soon as I walked in, I knew I made the right call. It had that old-school Italian vibe, with the owner coming over to ask you how the food is (by name, no less)—it almost made me want to pretend I was Italian myself and just go along with the act. At one point, I swear I saw Tony Soprano walking around. Anyway, the food was great and not overpriced. I had the chicken parm—it was great—and my girlfriend had some meat and pasta dish, which looked good (I don’t really know what it was, nor do I care). Service was perfect too. I’ll definitely be back.

Google
While it was a small place the food and service definitely made up for it! Very authentic! Great constant service!

Google
The bread and garlic butter are great, the Italian wedding soup lacked flavor for me. I ordered the chicken parm and it is a good portion, however the sauce was a bit off. It tasted different than the sauce on the gnocchi as well. I couldn't put my finger on what it was but maybe I prefer a sweeter sauce. The pasta pile was good sized. Overall very average, I have had better around the city, maybe I caught them on an off day.

Google
I love the food the service the people! My gosh i had the gnocchi with vodka sauce it was so amazing. The best Italian food.

Christine C

Google
We have eaten here several times and always enjoyed it. Gnoccis and vodka sauce are my favorite. This past visit we got food to go, and it was still delicious, but the vodka sauce was a little oily. The bread was perfection though, and the shrimp salad was a hit.

Yelp
I love this place. The red sauce is excellent. Also love the eggplant, stuffed escarole and the steaks. Service is friendly and prompt. The bus staff is always on point. One of the owners is always there. It's a tiny place but I highly recommend it

Yelp
Didn't even get a chance to try the food! Went in from out of town after a baseball game and waited 20 minutes at the door. Then was greeted by a server all for her to tell us she'd go look at what was available to not return in another 15 minutes. Walked out and went down the road. If I could give 0 stars I would! Out of towners should look elsewhere for food...Applebees down the road took us in and looked busier than this villa!

Yelp
Delicious food! I had the chicken Marsala with linguine; it came with an option of soup or salad. I went with the Italian wedding soup 9.5/10 delicious! The chicken Marsala was generously portioned and well seasoned 9/10. The service was great and friendly too. We went after a recommendation and glad we did

Yelp
Everytime I am in Rochester, I always stop at Guido's! The inside is a little small and wait times can be long, but the food definatley make up for it. If you want authentic Italian food while supporting a local business, this is the place for you.

Yelp
Old-school Italian all the way! From the small, homey atmosphere to the 'everyone's family' vibe to the impeccable service... and who can't forget Frank who comes to every table! Food was phenomenal. Cannoli's are piped fresh with a crispy shell. The arancini balls are do e right with peas and pancetta. The ribeye was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Drinks weren't balanced very well but everything else was superb. Check it out!

Yelp
So after all of these years of passing this place on the way to Rubinos (across the street) I finally got to visit. I went with a friend of mine who's been a few times. Where you park they have signs stating "Entrance" be advised when you go in an out about "Watch the step" When you come in you see a bar area and everyone who is in the area kind of looks at you quizzically "like why are you here" that's the vibe I got. We finally see someone and they seat us, I went to hang my coat. As others have said it needs a refresh and it a small bustling restaurant. We arrived before 5 pm and maybe about 10 minutes in it got crowded. We got a bottle of wine "oddly enough they as far as I could see no Italian wines. Than we ordered the fried calamari which was delicious and perfectly cooked. It came with cocktail sauce and a red sauce kind of thing. Yes the brought out the bread and butter it was good. We both ordered the Chicken Tiffany to give you an idea it's not Chicken French but it's covered with sauce. We both got angel hair pasta with it. Now when this arrived I was like WTH is this. The whole plate is covered with this cream sauce and you can't see anything else. Granted a slight plating might make this look less than gloopy. It was rather tasty and I liked the artichokes as well. I wished a had a bit more of those. We both took it home. In all honesty if you leave here hungry I don't understand. The portions are generous. I dessert my friend had an espresso and I had a snifter of Fragelluco Service was pleasant and efficient and anyone else working here was nice. They have a dedicated lot, I'll visit again and try something else. I give it about 3.75 outta 5

Yelp
Clearly a local favorite, but not so much for an out of towner. The staff were extremely friendly and solicitous. Service was relatively speedy. The pasta dishes were mediocre mostly smothered in sauce. The restaurant has seen better days - the decor is tired; nonetheless it is clean.

Yelp
Everything is either deep fried / loaded with butter or heavy cheese. Building is N old mobile home in a car dealer parking lot. People must be desperate or never traveled past the city limits. Dining room carpet is dirty / it's tiny and a bunch of locals at the bar that clearly haven't eaten healthy Italian food. Deep fried in seed oils is not Italian but artery choking mud. Can't the owner add some landscaping / replace the carpet and modernize the bathroom .. Really ???? I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Cheap place / cheap owners and a heart attack waiting to happen

Yelp
Excellent service. Homey atmosphere. Huge portions. Food was good, not great but overall a very good experience. Thank you.

Yelp
Been coming for years now and Love it! Food is always perfect. Staff is so family friendly, always giving the kids a small toy or book to keep them occupied.

Yelp
Every single time I've gone to this restaurant I have absolutely LOVED my food. The owners or more than friendly. The restaurant is cozy. I like that it is small. I've never had to wait more than 1/2 an hr. And we were always waited on right away and never had to wait for our food. i love it there.

Yelp
Guidos is the hidden gem you search for in every town. Luckily a friend gave us the tip to visit during the PGA championship. Our party all loved the atmosphere, the team and most importantly the food. All dishes were prepared perfectly and I especially loved the red sauce on my veal Parm

Yelp
Almost two years ago, I came for dinner to celebrate finding the perfect house in the neighborhood. I finally sold my old house, and to celebrate, naturally, we had to go to Guido's Pasta Villa! It was very busy, even at 5:30 on a Wednesday, but we were seated promptly, despite not having a reservation. Their phone message states that they take reservations for parties of 5 or more (we had 3). We started with the amazing calamari scampi...the best calamari in Rochester! My partner had the Cacciuco, a seafood medley in a garlic butter, served over pasta. I had the Veal Tiffany, which was absolutely delicious. And my Mother had the Greens & Beans with sausage, always a great choice! We ended the meal with their house-made spumoni ice cream, which was amazing. Always a great experience here, with the most friendly and helpful service! It is a small place, and can get a little noisy when it is busy, but I feel that adds to the charm! Everyone knows everyone there...it's like an Italian American version of Cheers! Definitely my favorite old-school Italian American restaurant in Rochester. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Hands down the best dinner experience I have had in as long as I can remember... I cannot wait to go back! Went to dinner with my wife and her side of the family to celebrate 2 birthdays. Franky G immediately made us feel at home. The hospitality and atmosphere of the restaurant combined with the exceptional food made this an awesome experience! Franky also made our night very memorable as he got along with our table pretty well! Definitely a night we won't forget! I cannot recommend this place enough!

Yelp
Food is good, but unless you are a regular there's not much love. I think food has gone downhill over the past several meals we've had there. My eggplant parm was tough and lacked sauce.

Ron H.

Yelp
The food her is amazing and I miss it ever since I moved away from Rochester 20 years ago. But Everytime I am in town, I am sure to visit. Their pasta is fresh, their sauces are flavorful, and the service is fast and attentive. The atmosphere is also quintessential Rochester.

Yelp
I was in town late in the evening for a work trip, and I needed dinner close by and quickly. This turned out to be a great place for dinner, and very convenient to my hotel. The waitstaff were excellent and very accommodating. They let me order a lunch portion of the pasta even though it was dinner service, because I was on a business trip and couldn't take leftovers with me for the next day. Even so, the portion was extremely generous and I couldn't finish it, which was a shame because it was really delicious. The waitress sent me back to my hotel with a cannoli on the house, which was very kind of her! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
Pasta Villa is solid home-style Italian, serving all the standards and busy every night with locals 'in the know'. We used to go to PV quite often, but it was always hard to get in, being that the bar AND dining room are both popular. So after a while we switched to getting take out - the generous portions would allow us several meals. Our most recent experience was getting take out for a party - a full tray of lasagna. We ordered it hot, for pick up at 4 pm on a Saturday, right when they opened. The catering person, Rebecca, was great - super helpful - and gave us lots of options for add ons like garlic bread, extra sauce, meatballs, etc. We arrived right at 4, and one of the kitchen guys had our tray ready to go, with extra sauce. The tray was really hot so he took it directly to our car for us. We really appreciated that customer service! The lasagna was perfect and a hit at the party; the full tray was also a lot of food, and we ended up making doggy bags for folks to take. Overall a great experience. I would recommend for dinner if you are into a busy, energizing restaurant vibe, for take out if you want value and left overs, and now, for catering!

Yelp
Classic From the cocktails to the menu it was a hit I had the Negroni which was perfect Ordered the wine by carafe and it was a very Nice red Chicken French and the bolognese were both awesome dishes, way too big for us to split especially if you want to try the spumoni ice cream which I did ....

Yelp
While visiting friends in Rochester, I asked if there are any real good Italian restaurants. Truth be told, I haven't had an outstanding Italian meal since our time in Italy. One suggested Guido's and the rest is history. (meaning now a stop every time we go to Rochester). Reservations were easy to make for our party of 5 and even though busy, we were promptly seated at our reservation time. After some drinks and warm, fresh bread, we tackled the extensive menu. I rarely find good veal in my travels so I was elated but cautious to try their Veal Marsala. My wife and her friend both ordered Lasagne. The other two both ordered Seafood Fra Diavalo. My veal was tender and tasty and was not overshadowed by the Marsela wine. In fact, the wine was a bit more subtle which in my opinion, brought out the flavor of the veal itself. The lasagne orders were enjoyed as well. The house sauce added to the great taste of this dish. Seafood Fra Diavalo was excellent but elicited two different opinions. Both loved the quality of the seafood but one would have preferred it more spicy while the other thought the spice load was just right. A lot of sharing went on and we all agreed this was a meal to remember. It was obvious to me a lot of "regulars" eat at Guido's on a regular basis. I noticed the excellent service they received and was happy to see our service was just as good. As we keep adding great restaurants to our frequent Rochester visits, we're just going to have to stay longer to get them all in.

Yelp
Came back to Rochester for my sons wedding. Had to have lunch with a great friend at our favorite restaurant! I had the chicken French over escarole which is my absolute favorite dish here. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious and because it was a mid week lunch, it was not too busy! Highly recommend this little gem. Don't forget to try a espresso martini! There are no words to describe how good it is here!

Yelp
Food and atmosphere were to die for! Be warned, it's VERY SMALL, so large groups, big influxes, and times of day/year matter. We stayed at the hotel next door. They were obviously overrun when we wanted to eat. We opted to order carry out due to time constraints. Oh how I wish I could have eaten there! Despite that, Carryout was fabulous! Everyone's food was delicious, and I think I have enough for 3 meals left over from just my plate! Plus it was less than 30 mins for 4 meals, which given the state of the dining room, was impressive. Would 1000% recommend! When I walked into the bar, I could tell it was packed with locals, which is the first sign of a great place!

Yelp
A great dinner with wonderful service. Started w a very tasty Italian wedding soup followed by the best bolognese I've ever had and a killer chicken parm. All very large portions and the sauce was excellent. Chef's kiss

Yelp
Stopped in last night Wednesday for dinner at 5:30, parking is in the back and you enter through the back. Upon entering you're immediately in the bar, the host did see we were lost and got us seated and settled. Carrie was our waitress, just great, she took such good care of us. It's traditional Italian, my friend had a chicken dish, and I had spaghetti with meatballs. Meals came with salad, scrumptious, and we also had the jumbo shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, and we also had dessert. It's a little slow, and cramped but honestly the food and service were above par. It's a little pricey I guess but we felt it was worth it, we got what we paid for, definitely going to be back, thanks for the delicious meal.

Yelp
Terrible experience! Really small but nice bar to sit at, had a nice drink and chatted with folks at the bar. I ordered my dinner, veal French with a side of pasta. Soup came with, which was good as was the bread. After I ordered, two people came in and ordered take out, not picking up take out, ordered take out after my order. They both got theirs before mine came out. When I got mine it was Luke warm, almost like it was reheated. Terrible veal dish.. Luke warm soggy veal... The pasta side was also Luke warm under sauced terrible side. One and done!

Yelp
Been a family favorite far before I was even born. We always buy their sauce and meatballs to serve at holiday parties. I went yesterday to celebrate my birthday with my mom and our service was quick, friendly and delicious as always!!! Also... incredibly clean bathrooms!

Yelp
This is the best Italian Restaurant I know of in the Rochester area. I have been there numerous times of the years and have never had a bad meal. I have had spaghetti with meat sauce and with marinara, pork chops and steak, chicken Parmesan and chicken French. I have never been disappointed with the servers or the meals. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I don't know how else to explain it except that this place feels like familia and home. Every single time. From the gorgeous cocktail staff to the incredible pasta. Good luck getting in because this place is heavenly.

Yelp
This place is so cool and very old school. If you have the chance you should come here just for the experience. There aren't a lot of restaurants around like this anymore and just sitting at the bar drinking limoncello was a lot of fun. I love the decor and the ambiance. Even though we aren't from the area we felt like we were just hanging out with old friends having a drink. It has a Very cool vibe and welcoming staff.

Judy F.

Yelp
The food is top notch! Especially their pasta dishes. However the restaurant needs expanding. Too many tables in a small space.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
This place was packed on a Wednesday at 7:30pm but we only waited for a few minutes for a table to open up. The complimentary bread came out quickly and was good with the garlic butter but the butter would be much better if it was softened up. We started off the the calamari scampi appetizer which was very good! Lightly fried, tender and flavorful. The calamari isnt tossed in the white wine sauce, it was at the bottom of the plate. For our main dishes we ordered the gnocchi in vodka sauce and Tiffany chicken. The gnocchi was definitely the star dish of the night and was unbelievably delicious. Soft pillowy bites served in a delicious sauce that had small chunks of prosciutto. The Tiffany chicken was very good too but was basically chicken French, just without the lemony flavors. The portions are massive so expect leftovers. We also got mini cannolis for dessert and they were sooo good. The filling was sweet, fluffy and yummy. We left very satisfied and stuffed. Our server was super friendly and attentive all night too. All and all a good experience.

Yelp
Small restaurant with excellent food. Old school Rochester Italian with all your favorite chicken veal fish and meat dishes. Even his bread is baked on premises daily. Wow that's impressive. Hard to get a table, but worth the effort.

Yelp
Just go, have a glass of wine, maybe the chicken Parm, an after dinner drink and you can thank me later!

Yelp
Best Italian food in Irondequoit! Fresh and authentic. Large portions and daily specials are a nice variety!

Yelp
Yhe restaurant was packed on Tuesday night. I had to seat at the bar and wait 25mns to place my order and then another hour to get my dinner. The staff was rude and clearly not happy with their jobs, i didn'tsee them smile once. I was standing waiting for the hostess, he (the hostess)was grabbing menus behind me and just grabbed the menus almost pushed me and didn't even say "excuse me". While waiting for my dinner I just couldn't understand the reason why people would come to the place with all the rude/unprofessional staff. The restaurant was loud, the environment is not for a romantic night or anything like that. I ordered Spaghetti with meatballs and sausage. It came with a small salad with only lettuce/garbanzo/2 black olives/croutons (the lettuce was not fresh at all) My only hope was the spaghetti/meat sauce/ meatballs/sausage and I was very disappointed. It literally smelled like dog can food. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Joseph S.

Yelp
Great spot for some authentic Italian! I would recommend this spot for any occasion. The chicken parm is my favorite.

Yelp
Ever since we moved to Irondequoit 2 years ago this place has been on my to-do list. Wit cheerful lights on the front, it always looks like some place that has pretty good food and a welcoming atmosphere. They also have good hours! We decided too go for dinner to celebrate our anniversary tonight and overall it was pretty disappointing. We parked in the back and used the rear entrance. It was dimly lit and there was no signs anywhere to tell you where to go. We were just aimlessly wandering through the restaurant and eventually we found the dining room and what appeared to be a hostess who ignored us and just continued to clean and set tables. Eventually a gentleman came over and gestured us to a table, who they were I don't know as he did not identify himself. Water and bread came out pretty much immediately so that was great! Our server took a little bit longer to show up but eventually she did, we weren't quite ready to order and unfortunately it would be a little while till we saw her again but eventually we got to place our order. The menu is pretty limited and not very big. That was in itself is not necessarily A bad thing. We ordered drinks, calamari, chicken parm with alfredo instead of marinara on the pasta and chicken marsala. The calamari came out quickly and was well cooked unfortunately it came with cocktail sauce and marinara whileI prefer an aioli with calamari. The marinara wasn't particularly flavorful and was either chunks or water no middle ground. The cocktail sauce was okay. The chicken marsala was great according to my wife, she definitely enjoyed it and it was a very sizeable portion. The Chicken Parm was not so good. I didn't feel it was fried very well and there was so much sauce on it that it just got buried. The angel hair with alfredo that I got is a side was pretty good though. The biggest thing that really annoyed me was that I was told when I ordered that there'd be enough charge for the Alfredo which is normal and fine. On the bill though I got a charge for an entire side of alfredo. However the side a pasta that came with my meal was nowhere to be seen... My overall conclusion was poor service and a cheap money grab on the check, as well as poorly fried chicken parmesan. It's very tiny tiny space and all in all I just can't really recommend it.

Michelle F.

Yelp
Absolute best Italian restaurant! A must when you're in Rochester NY. The service was awesome. Delicious food, nice size portions. Everything was served fresh and hot. My husband said the Veal Marsala was the best he ever had. My son said the same about his Veal Tiffany, and my dad and I just loved the Spaghetti and Meatballs. Fresh salad or soup and plenty and freshly baked Italian bread are served as well. We loved the Creamy Peppercorn and Bleu Cheese Crumble dressings. We also enjoyed the stuffed artichoke appetizer this visit, but I didn't get a photo. The Calamari Scampi is out of this world, we usually order it but enjoyed the artichokes this time. No room for dessert this trip!
google avatar

Yelp
Wanted something warm on a cold night and Guido's did not disappoint! Greens and beans with sausage was just like my grandmother used to make. So good. Just enough broth. Everything cooked just right and excellent Italian sausage. The only thing missing were the huge garlic cloves my grandmother used to sneak in! Also had the stuffed escarole. Escarole, bread crumbs olives and probably salt and pepper and some pecorino and parmigiana. I know. An odd combo but that stuffed escarole tasted a lot like stuffed artichokes my other grandmother, nana, used to make. Didn't think I could top the greens and beans but this did it for me. Comfort food all the way and took me back to a kid. Solid five based on these two. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Yelp
Over rated. I had the Chicken Parm. One piece was good, one piece was not "patted down" or something as it was bumpy and gross. When I eat Chicken I don't want any bumps or surprises at all. There's no where to stand when your waiting. I would pass go to Mr. Dominic's on Lake Ave- much better, everything.

Yelp
Just call ahead and go there already- nothing going to disappoint food wise- service is mostly awesome but they do get busy so account for that- joint is small And intimate- can be loud but not obnoxiously in the dining areA- can be obnoxious In the bar- Food is excellent every time - Worth the wait
