Best restaurants in Cherry Creek | Eater Denver

"U.K.-style hand pies are the sole specialty of this cheery daytime counter joint, which turns out nearly 20 different kinds to cover all tastes and moods. On the classic side are the Shepherd with ground beef, mashed potatoes, cheddar, peas, and more, as well as the Drover with lamb, potatoes, leeks, and mint; on the creative side, there are egg-stuffed breakfast pasties and warming dessert options like peach cobbler." - Eater Staff

Google
Small shop featuring various pasties both fresh and frozen to take home and bake there. The Shepherd is basically shepherd's pie in a pastry crust. The Miner is a traditional pasty and is very good. Service is excellent. It's fast friendly and they take the time to explain the various pasties and sauces that can go with them. Parking, as anywhere in Cherry Creek, can be expensive and at some distance from the shop. There are sometimes metered spots on 4th off Columbine available.

Google
The pasties were delicious!! Much more flavorful than Michigan pasties and we like those. These were amazing!

I've walked by the Cherry Creek location a few times and finally tried it today. You can tell they put a lot of care into their craft. I went for the traditional option, The Miner. It was done exceptionally well – rich, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. There are other choices as well so there's a future opportunity to try something new and delicious. The staff are not only fast and friendly but also genuinely take the time to explain the the various sauces that pair perfectly with them. It's clear they're passionate about their products, and that enthusiasm is contagious. Parking in Cherry Creek can be a bit challenging. I parked a few streets away and walked. However, the quality of the pasty and the warm, welcoming service make it absolutely worth the effort!

Google
Got the Shepherds pastry and was pretty good! But the berry pastry was insanelyyyyyy good! Did not expect to love it so much. Customer service was also great! Don’t remember the guys name. But will definitely be back!

Google
I stopped by with my husband to have a quick lunch while I had my chemotherapy treatment and they did not disappoint. This was our first time having empanadas and they were amazing! Such tasty, crispy dough, and they were packed with great fillings. And the person who served us was very friendly, we will definitely return.

Google
The pastry is amazing. Flavorful crust, thin that does not overwhelm the flavor of the filling. It Has a thicker border for crunch. The fillings are amazing, well balanced. We loved the stout ( the mushroom steak cheese flavor out of this world). My teenager loved the country rd. We truly enjoy these for breakfast!!. We went to the Cherry Creek location.

Google
Found this place based on the excellent Google reviews and it did not disappoint! I had the Shepherd. The dough was cooked evenly throughout, the filling was flavorful and the mashed potatoes were fluffy. I was fortunate enough to get to enjoy my pasty in some sunny weather, streetside, at one of the two tables in front of the shop (seating is limited fyi). Best Pasty I’ve had in all my travels, highly recommend stopping in.

Google
Just stumbled across the place. Nice space with really nice services. The pastry was really good but I thought the filling was lacking flavor, but it could’ve just been what I ordered. Would try it again if I was in the area and I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Pastry Republic gets a A++ for me! These bad boys are hefty and filling! I first had these at a Halloween party that my friend hosted and had them catered over 50 pasties of different varieties! I had the miner and shepherd since then and have been my go to whenever I visit their cherry creek location. The pastry is flaky and buttery but strong enough to hold it's massive filling. Each bite is savory and a little bit of hot sauce was such a great compliment to the meaty and potatoey filling. The staff who work here are also great and deserve praise. Who needs hot pockets or burritos if you're on the fly, these pasties will last you all day!

Yelp
What a beautiful, cute and friendly place! We came across this place walking our three dogs and immediately we were greeted with warm welcomes! The food was amazing! We'll be back here ALOT!

Yelp
The guy in the front was super nice. The food is amazing. Really cool atmosphere. I'll be ordering two entrees next time.

Yelp
Popped in right before a facial appointment I had and was craving something with meat. Everyone get the lamb kabob turnover. IT WAS BOMB! Cute little place which wouldn't be best for groups but the food was great. I love salt so this had the perfect amount but could be a lot for some that don't care much for salt. I think the flavors melded so well together and the meat was tender and juicy. This wasn't a try meat turnover (or empanada if you will) at all. Service was friendly and helpful and I will be back in when in the Cherry Creek north area.

Yelp
Cute little spot for breakfast or lunch, with yummy British pastries. They offer a nice selection of sweet and savory pasties, with some vegetarian options. My husband and I visited for breakfast, and I devoured a South of the Border pasty filled with eggs, chorizo, jalapeños, onions, cheddar, potatoes, and green chiles. It was very flavorful and each portion is quite generous. My husband picked the Miner, with steak, rutabaga, potatoes, onions, and house seasoning. He also liked it a lot. There are a couple tables both inside and outside, and you can also buy the pasties frozen. Coffee and ice-cream is available.

Melody H.

Yelp
Pasties were delicious!! Very flavorful. Great variety. Friendly service. Quaint cafe atmosphere.

Yelp
Excellent pastry and choices include vegan and dairy free. The owner is friendly, and it was a great place to have a coffee and pasty while working
google avatar

Yelp
This place was recommended and Pasty Republic did not disappoint! Hubs reminisced about trips to London and he said these were spot-on. Along with traditional pasties, they have vegetarian options, breakfast, and frozen to go. The owner is a great guy and is always wanting to create unusual flavor combinations. You must go to PASTY REPUBLIC!!!

Yelp
Got the kabob one and it's absolutely delicious my favorite one. Perfect amount of feta to lamb meat and so light and fresh. Service was great. Fast casual dining experience. Great vibes and even have ice cream if you have a sweet tooth.
google avatar

Sweta K.

Yelp
What a great little establishment! Large variety of pasties- savory, vegetarian, special, dessert and breakfast options. They are nice and warm to eat right away- two tables in the store to sit and eat at. He also has all the pasties frozen in the back to take home and bake as well. If you want to score a deal, you can sometimes get "yesterday's pasties" at a BoGo deal/$5 each. Owner is super friendly and welcoming. There is ice cream too! Really enjoyed my visit here- thank you!

Yelp
My wife and I stopped here for a quick bite and were not disappointed. The pastry hits the spot, Perfectly flaky! Beware they are PACKED with fillings so one is more than enough. The employee (maybe owner?) behind the counter was welcoming and even gave us a quick history lesson about this being the food of choice for miners.

Yelp
Stopped in to grab some packable snacks for a golf game, ended up enjoying one of the best meat pies I've ever had in my life (the Miner). My friends enjoyed the New Mexico as well. Perfect crust - I cannot stress this enough. Strong enough to hold up to heavy ingredients and sauces without breaking or leaking. Buttery enough that they don't get soggy, and you can really look forward to the crust-heavy bites that may not have as much filling. Came back a couple days later to grab packable plane snacks. Enjoyed the Stout right then and there, Joey on my outbound flight back to LA, and the Farmer for breakfast the next morning. Protip on the beefy pies (Miner/Stout) - they have packets of spicy mustard and horseradish sauce. The pies alone are excellent, a little mustard and horseradish adds the acidity to elevate the flavor to legendary status. 11/10, coming back here every time I'm in Denver.
google avatar

Urba M.

Yelp
Stopped by super hungry to grab some morning eats. The pies were flaky and hot, perfect for a cold day. I tried out the farmer and got my husband the New Mexico. Just wish they had a bit more flavor/spice to them - were a tad bland; they did satisfy my desire to eat something warm and comforting on a cold morning though. Service was pleasant and quick.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
Great spot, super friendly staff and quick service! I went for the hand pie with eggs potato and Greene hatch chili- my only "complaint" is I wanted more spice or maybe a side of Colorado green chili sauce? Otherwise amazing and super filling, big enough to split.
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Has ~2 vegetarian options, not sure if one of them can be vegan. Mostly wanted to try this because I had never had a "pasty"--it's a lot like samosas, empanadas, ravioli, dumplings, etc.

Yelp
There's paid street parking everywhere and it was so busy in Cherry Creek this day that I hopped out of the car and had my boyfriend wait for me to get a couple Pasties. That's how much I wanted to try these! Keep in mind this was a -2 degree F day and so when I was greeted by the warmth of this shop I was so happy to have made it. There is a menu board and also a case with the day of options. I ordered two Pasties. One was a shepard's pie, the other was also beef based. They were big, heavy, and was served in a paper bag dawned with such a cute stamp of a Pasty. The cashier was super sweet and offered sauce packets and utensils. Y'all.....did you know that A1 makes individual sauce packets?! I took 1 for each Pasty per the cashier's recommendation. He also said horseradish would compliment what I got. I returned to the car, Pasty steaming with the first bite, bursting with flavor. If you're turned off by the price (about $9 each), keep in mind these could totally be meals or part of a meal. They were so savory and filling. I loved both, but loved the texture of the cubes of beef with the potatoes over the ground beef and mashed potatoes. Fast, casual, easy, and delicious. What more do you want?

Haley C.

Yelp
The southwest pie was to die for!!!! Cheesy eggs with perfectly cooked potatoes and sausage with just the right amount of heat with the green chiles. The pastry itself is so flaky and buttery, absolutely one of the best breakfast pies I have ever had!!!! Can't wait to try the three other selections I purchased from the frozen section!

M D.

Yelp
Great value, delish tasting, a must try if you're visiting or local resident alike!! And lots of yummy flavors to choose from. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Ate here two days in a row and took frozen ones home. I lived in Eastern PA as a child and kina grew up on these delicious pockets of goodness. At TPR their miner pasty is super on point to what I am accustomed to. The chunky bits of steamy potato, flaky yet doughy crust, the blistering heat trapped in tha ground beef, had me like "DAMN SON WHERE'D FIND THISSS?!" The heads behind the counter were super chill and on day two I stuck around to eat in the restaurant at one of the two 3 top tables.

L M.

Yelp
I just ran inside for a quick bite. Mat was super friendly and the food is absolutely out of this world definitely worth stopping in and trying!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great little local shop serving up a wide assortment of tasty hand pies. You can dine in (or on the sidewalk seating arranged just outside the door) or take your meal to go. I went "South of the Border" and snatched up a tasty and spicy breakfast pasty. The portion is huge and filling. Awesome flavors and I will definitely repeat. Could make a great breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Delicious hand pies that can be a meal since they're pretty big. Ordered the foreman and farmer and came out warm and perfect for the cold winter day. Biting into the pie felt like my stomach was getting a warm hug.

Mark R.

Yelp
This place is awesome . Easy - no getting waited on . The owner mans the counter and is super personable. Also it's nice to support a small business. If you need a quick portable meal this place is the deal .

Yelp
Service was great. Such a cute place. My favorite was philosopher and shepherd. Joey was also good. Stout was ok. I wasn't big on miner (but I am big into Rutabaga). Everything was fresh and so good!

Yelp
We originally became enamored of pasties years ago on a trip to Scotland, and ever since we have been on a never-ending quest for excellent savory pastry. With pasty adventures under our belts from Miami to Minneapolis to Seattle, we have decided that The Pasty Republic are absolutely the best we've had in this great nation. Since there are 2 locations in Denver now, the locals obviously agree. We're pretty sure we could live happily on a steady diet of the cheesy potato pasty, since we've never had more perfectly proportioned potato/cheese/onion in any pastry. That crust is just classically ideal too. We hope to make it through Denver during open hours on our way home so we can pick up a supply of frozen pasties to tide us over until we venture north again.

Yelp
Pasties are one of my favorite local foods found in Michigan. I'm from the state natively and lived there for over 20 years. It was cool finding out that there are pasties in Denver. I ordered the Miners Pasty (including beef steak, potato, rutabaga, and onions). It was very much identical to a Yooper one with its ingredients and preparation. However, I do prefer the ones I had in Marquette and St. Ignace). I also ordered a cheddar potato pasty that was quite good as well. The service was quite speedy. The ambience is like a small bakery. I'd highly recommend this place for someone in Colorado to try a pasty.
google avatar

Azure G.

Yelp
The best pasties . I only discovered pasties a few years ago in Michigan, but was immediately sold. It's dangerous that this spot is so close to home. I always bring one back for my husband when I'm in CCN running errands. I love every flavor I've tried so far, but our favorite is the Philosopher. My own complaint is that it tends to sell out!

Yelp
Super tasty! Great flavors and combinations. Friendly and great service! Had the breakfast and lamb pie! Both delicious well seasoned. Filling is a lot and balanced with right amount of dough.

Yelp
I was in Cherry Creek and needed something quick and delicious for lunch. Yelp led me to The Pasty Republic and wow, kinda bitter I've never been here before! In case you've never heard of it, a pasty is a British baked hand-pie typically filled with meat and potatoes. Over the the Pasty Republic though, they are filling them up with so many delicious, fresh, local ingredients. They have savory pasties with meat and vegetarian options as well as dessert ones that I need to get in on next time. This go-round, I tried the Country Road (on their breakfast menu) which has eggs, maple sausage, potatoes, and cheddar. I also tried the Miner under the signature menu which has steak, rutabaga, potatoes, onions, and house seasoning. Both were filled TO THE BRIM and so freaking delicious. Their dough is also something else. It's made from scratch and goes through a meticulous 2-day process. It is thin and crisp, and just enough to hold all of the delicious filling - and it is a LOT of filling. These are definitely meal-sized. I tried them for the first time yesterday and I am having serious thoughts about going to get more today! They sell them hot and ready to eat or frozen so you can take them home and eat them anytime you please. Seriously, if you've never been, go right now!

Yelp
Oh my god, I'm in heaven. Pasty heaven. I had no idea what a pasty was but it looked like a calzone and like one of my favorite character Ben Wyatt, I do like calzones so I gave it a shot. It's a tiny little place, and the person helping us was very friendly. My friends and I kept going back to buy frozen ones. Yes you can heat up your own pasty. There's breakfast ones, savory, vegetarian, and even dessert. Something for everyone. My favorite was the I believe it's called something like southwestern, it's a breakfast one and it's so good. Spicy and perfectly breakfasty. They're huge so you'll be full. On a cold day walking to your car, it's a perfect hand warmer. They also have monthly special ones, my friend got the last one of the day and lamb kabob and I got a frozen chicken curry. It was delicious. I can't wait to come back

Yelp
I had tried the pasty's before after they were catered at work and I loved them, but this was my first time actually going in myself and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and so quick. I was in and out in a flash and quickly devoured my huge New Mexico pasty. These things are massive and stuffed to the brim with goodies. I can eat, but even one was more than enough for me. Give them a try for a quick on the go lunch!
google avatar

Melanie T.

Yelp
Delicious. We bought frozen ones to bake at home and it was so yummy and you can tell from the first taste that it's made there and not froze some factory. We tried the Southwest and Country breakfast pastries. For some, the southwest might be spicy. There's definitely a kick to it that I really enjoy. The country was just maple flavor and potatoes. Each pasty is quite larger than I had previously thought. So one can fill you up or you can order several options and share with friends and family.
google avatar

Felipe A.

Yelp
Having my pastie berries and cream the only dessert one available it's quite tasty. I asked for tap water and was denied ‍ Only bottle water available. You almost feel unwelcome.
google avatar

Lewis C.

Yelp
We tried 4 different pasties and they were all amazing. The pastry crust was buttery yummy and the fillings were delicious - - well seasoned and with plenty of good ingredients. The pasties were all generously sized and good enough for a meal. We could eat these over and over again. In fact, we bought some frozen ones to take home for exactly that reason.
google avatar

Melanie K.

Yelp
What a fantastic find! I had the chicken with peas and carrots and highly recommend it. I can't wait to try them for breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
Just walked past this new spot in cherry creek. Small little place that you order at the counter with a few small tables. Tried a few of their pasties and they were delicious. They offer both frozen and fresh baked in savory and sweet (see picture of menu). Almost like a large empanada with a large crispy shell.

Nitemer 7.

Yelp
This place is damn good!!! Had the Joey and oh man it's great!!! I ordered a shepherd to go and will update the review once I try it. It's a must eat place!!!! Great friendly service.

Victoria W.

Yelp
Fantastic food! The man at the counter (probably the owner) is very friendly and helpful with deciding which one to get. Good prices too! Definitely recommend! We had the country road pasty and the chicken curry. Both tasty

Yelp
I hadn't realized that there is a new second shop in cherry creek. I'd passed the one on Tennyson before, wanted to check it out, but it was closed at the time. Cute little footprint of a shop, well situated, should invite lots of foot traffic, and the glass showcase of pasty options is very nice and visually effective. Who doesn't love the look of tempting hand pies? I purchased the Stout--mix of beef and Gorgonzola. They are large in portion, though should be, given $10 per pasty price. Pastry was okay, but the filling was disappointing on the whole. Heavy, salty without being flavorful, blue cheese doesn't really come through. Possibly other flavors are better. I'd personally like the option of a slightly smaller pasty for less, but really can't give more than 3 starts because the flavor just wasn't there. Will probably give it one more go. One thing I would have taken advantage of had I seen it sooner, is that they sell one day old pastys for less.

Krystal K.

Yelp
Best pasties ever!!! I've tried Cornish Pasty in Arizona and this place is way better. It was perfect for a quick lunch! The pasties have a generous amount of filling and aren't dry. We had the Miner, Shepard, and Cherry. Sooo good and would definitely come again :)
google avatar

Aurehzu H.

Yelp
I walk by this place almost every day and finally decided to pop in the other day. It's a cute little shop that offers a variety of sweet and savory pasties. I got the caretaker, which was good but nothing special, and the berries and cream cheese, which was very flavorful and delicious. I might visit again if I get a craving, and if I do, it will likely be for one of their sweet pasties.
google avatar

Amiel C.

Yelp
What a great find in Cherry Creek. Stopped by to pick up something for breakfast and the empanadas were delicious! Huge in portion too! Very fresh, hot, solid empanadas! I cannot wait to try regular lunch selections!
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place after an appointment and was walking back to my car. I had never heard of it but decided to go in and see what they had. I got the Shepherd and the Miner to go, frozen. Baked them in the oven the next day and they were delicious! We would definitely go back to try some of their other options. I love finding small businesses to support!

Bry G.

Yelp
Wow, talk about a tasty treat! I am no expert on pastries but these are some of the most delicious xxl hot pockets I have ever had. If you want some yum in the tum, hit this place! You will not be disappointed
google avatar

Bliss C.

Yelp
One of the best pastries I've ever had! "The Cobbler" - warm cinnamon peaches. SO GOOD!
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
A hot sandwich fully encased in pastry dough. Lots of choices and it is delivered steaming hot. The store is quite small and it's meant for takeout only. The food inside the dough ("stuffing") is tasty and varies from pure vegetarian to lamb. The price of the sandwiches is reasonable and the quantity of the stuffing is satisfying. As a bonus they also serve Little Man ice cream. It is worth a try. I have been back. It is a great hot lunch to go place.

Matt F.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! My wife and I had Pasties for the 1st time last weekend while staying in Cherry Creek. It's disappointing we do not have a Pasty restaurant I'm Kansas City. Great food and great service!
google avatar

Cathy C.

Yelp
I enjoyed this generously sized savory hand pie. Crust is flakier than an empanada but not as messy as a croissant. It's a convenient food for strolling and eating. Nice filling options but many selections from the menu were not available by 9:30 am at the Cherry Crrek farmers market when we went.

K S.

Yelp
Loved this place! The pasty was so delicious and authentic. Incredibly friendly service. Our pasty was delicious, filling and original!
