Best Restaurants to Try Near Lake Mead National Recreation Area | Eater Vegas

"Travelers headed back to Las Vegas after a day at Lake Mead would be remiss if they didn’t stop by Chilly Jilly’z. The locally owned Boulder City restaurant offers self-serve frozen yogurt, Dole Whip, milkshakes, and malts. On the heartier side of the menu, there’s “broaster” chicken (crispy roasted chicken), sandwiches (try the spicy hot pastrami with house-smoked pastrami, Swiss, mustard, and pickles on marbled rye), and salads served with homemade bread. The cotton-candy-colored exterior trim and vintage sign outside only accentuate the experience." - Krista Diamond

Don’t know why we waited so long to try this place, but it was fantastic! We had brunch there, and the food size were enormous. Atmosphere is so cool with literally an outdoor patio that has heat for the winter and nice and cool in the summer. Our service was wonderful, wonderful, and would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants brunch. They also serve lunch there as well and dinner on Saturday. If you’re not from Boulder city this place is definitely worth the drive.

We made reservations in advance, which was nice because there was a line when we showed up. The menu had a lot of tasty-looking options, hard to choose just one. The entrees we ended up with were all fabulous. Our waitress was so great, definitely 10/10 service. Only negative was that a regular mimosa was $10. I wouldn’t have ordered it had I seen the price first.

Google
Our waitress, kara was fantastic. She presented quick and proficient service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. There was a small fire pit at the table to warm up the area. Plenty of seating and everything was clean. Live music as well. Their omelets are fantastic.

Google
Husband and I rented a car and went from Las Vegas to the Hoover Dam, on our way back, we decided to get something to eat and decided on the patio without ever having been to it. It was super hot outside, but because it was in chilly jolly’z, we decided to give it a try. The food was delicious, the service was great, but despite the name, it was not chilly inside, and we both ate as quickly as we could in order to leave to get back into our air conditioning car. Other than the heat inside the patio, which is enclosed everything else was fantastic !

Kat

Google
Immediately was greeted with a smile, Wonderful atmosphere both in the patio with lots of windows and air conditioning on patio. Although there is a cooler setting inside with booth seating. Great service, with helpful waitress. First time dining at the patio chilly Jilly's, and will not be my last. A quick fresh bite that will send you off with a good feeling. Definitely a good stop for fresh variety of delicious food.

Wow, I mean WOW!!! I'm coming again and again. I had their special burrito, The King, but with a little modifications to fit my dietary needs. With bacon and the pork green sauce with over easy eggs. Update: 3.1.25 = it's feeling like home here. 😁

Google
I don't live in Boulder City so I can't say I'll be back soon. I'll make it a yearly Christmas treat for sure! I loved the tableside fire and the live guitarist. I loved the enormous shrimp! The chicken piccata was good and I'm glad they put the sauce on the side for me. My aunt loved her food and plans to go back for brunch. She said it was reasonably priced.

Google
We went there on a Sunday morning for brunch. Atmosphere was good the place looks nice. Kind of feel like you're eating outside but you're inside. There wasn't too long of a wait but once we were seated, we sat for a while before anyone even took drink orders. Although our waitress was friendly and very nice, she was spread thin so we didn't see much of her. Very busy place. My husband had the chicken fried steak and was pleased with his meal. I personally did not like the gravy but he did. I had the green chili verde omelet which was pretty good. Just right on the spice level for my taste but I don't like it too hot. The drinks were on point. Really enjoyed the dirty Dole, I believe it was called.

Yelp
I am giving a 5 star for the food! Absolutely delicious! Service was horrible. My food came out before my drinks( coffee and orange juice) Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Pros: chicken and waffles were great Dogs were allowed in the enclosed patio Cons: waitress was very nice but service was a little slow, some things forgotten that we had ordered
google avatar

Yelp
First time here! We got the chicken and waffles and I loved it. Will return to try other menu items.

Yelp
I went around a month and a half ago and the food was so good. I ordered some of their slow roasted meat and some crispy potato's à la cart because i'm not a fan of eggs and didn't want the meal and it was so freaking good!!! Great amount of food as well. The place was super clean and just all around good vibes. Great service, great food, great place!!! I'm from phx Arizona and was visiting some family friends in vegas who are regulars to chilly jilly'z and they insisted on going here even though it's a bit of a drive and i'm glad we did!!

Yelp
Friendly environment, where you can share a large, public table, if you wish. Efficient and pleasant service, and an extensive menu with many specialties, and LARGE portions. Good pricing! One of our favorites in town for a very casual and fun meal.
google avatar

Skylar K.

Yelp
Food was actually fairly price and was very good. The atmosphere is a cool concept I bet it is probably really nice at night there. The service was pretty good too and they were slammed.

Al K.

Yelp
Terrible Value for the Money! The $10 "salad" is a less-than-full bowl of shredded iceberg lettuce and two grape tomatoes (w/choice of 3 dressings). You can add meat to bring it up to $24. Just throwing your money away!

Yelp
The chicken fried steak is incredible gravy is delicious the hash browns perfection. The staff are all amazing. Such a great atmosphere for brunch. Love the Eggs Benedict so well made hollandaise is incredible. Love this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast was very good! Atmosphere was great! Love the vibe! An entertainer was playing music in the background. Wait staff was not very frienly - just there doing their job - nothing more - nothing less. The wait staff is why I gave them a 4 opposed to a 5.

Yelp
Super surprised with this place. Everyone was happy with their selection and the recommendations from the server. On a side note, the toast was really great!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Brunch at the patio is a definite must do!! The food is amazing. The ambience can't be beat and the service is always impeccable. Thanks for offering such a great place and product!!

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised by the speed of service in this place! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to bring the dog as it's pet friendly on the patio. We brought our own dog bowl and water for her, we thought that'd be easier on the staff. The traditional eggs Benedict was excellent with additional avocado and the 2 egg breakfast was also very good, both came out fast and hot. The Sunday brunch comes with a live guitarist playing soft jazz/80s hits, very nicely done. All in all we were impressed

Yelp
Came in here for a mini family breakfast and was not disappointed! The staff were so friendly, the music was upbeat and fun, the ambience was beautiful, and the food was delicious. I am so happy we stopped here because this is definitely our new favorite breakfast spot and it's much better than some other restaurants in town! Recommendations: DIVORCED EGGS w/ eggs over medium (delicious) Spicy Bloody Mary Thank you, guys, for a delicious breakfast! You all provide fantastic, quality food and service. We will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
What a fun place. Love the fresh air. Staff was so eclectic and friendly, they all worked together. Food was great. Wonderful and different.

Yelp
I must admit I was impressed. We were in this area to hangout at Hemenway park but want to have breakfast first. The area /location is cute. It gave me Palm Spring vibes which I love. We got here on a Saturday before 9am, it wasn't super busy and we decided to sit in the patio area. It was really nice. Now this place is nothing fancy but it was clean, spacious, great outdoor view and lighting but it was nice since everything was air conditioned. The staff is nice, quick and attentive. The food was nothing spectacular and I don't mean that in a negative way but hear me out....it was all delicious, good portions, cooked well and reasonably priced. Everyone enjoyed their food and I really couldn't be happier with the experience. I really wanna come back for dinner. I hear they serve some great food and I'm all for it. What we ordered Pancakes Waffles Carnitas egg Benedict's with chipotle sauce and corn cake Steak and 2 eggs breakfast 2 eggs breakfast with sausage. Orange juice Coffee

Yelp
I was in Boulder City for the railroad museum, and I'd gotten up really early and hadn't had breakfast yet, so I was STARVING by around 11:15 a.m. when I arrived. There was a huge group of 12 that was waiting to be seated, and the hostess was inside trying to arrange things, so I stood at the hostess stand for quite some time without being acknowledged -- which didn't set a great tone for the beginning of my experience. But once that overwhelming bit was over, the hostess walked me to my table and even switched seats for me so I would be more comfortable (some of the seats are a little higher, more like barstools, and since I'm short, she got me one with a footrest). That was above and beyond, and I really appreciated it. The food and drink came out very quickly and I was really impressed. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla with sausage -- and it was HUGE! It also was prepared with one of my top 3 flour tortillas I've ever had in my lifetime. The salsa was tomato-y and not spicy at all, but honestly I didn't need salsa and there's hot sauce on the table anyway. (Next time I might ask for some guac on the side though.) I also really enjoyed the guitarist who was playing (this was during Sunday brunch), although I didn't catch his name. Lots of great musical selections of instrumental versions of tunes by Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, Chicago, soft rock of the late 70s, etc. I wish I could've stayed and had some Dole Whip but I had a full day planned and had to be on my way. Definitely noting as a favorite for the next time I'm in Boulder City!

Yelp
Best restaurant in BC totally, brunch and weekend dinner, great bloody marys, I love the entire menu. We are so excited to have a nice restaurant in BC!

Yelp
Nice diner, good selection of food and drinks, great service. Would definitely return.

Yelp
If you're lucky enough to be here on a Friday, Sat, or Sunday you can't go wrong with this gem of a place. It's in the historic town of Boulder City which gets you that home time feel with home town food. Been wanting to check out this place for a while and finally got here and it didn't disappoint. Eggs Benedict with hash browns was delicious. Definitely the spot to hit on the weekends when you want to get out of town for brunch.

LH B.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Kara was great, super friendly. Inside was a good temperature even with an open roof & 105 heat. Definitely will come back

Paul R.

Yelp
The weekend breakfast brunch is fantastic. The servers are off the charts. Kara and Danielle are number one.

Yelp
The ambience of this place is beautiful. They have a very warm and friendly staff, however, the food is not good at all...mediocre at best. We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo (my daughter's favorite thing g to eat when we go out for dinner) with chicken $26 and the Chilean sea bass $36 entrees. My friend ordered a crab cake appetizer $18 a side of enchiladas $10 and an order of butter Parmesan penne pasta $18for her son. The soup and salad were served first. The lettuce in my Caesar salad was frozen, and my daughters lemon chicken soup tasted like condensed canned soup. It had a an extra sour (lemony) taste that was not pleasant at all. Next the crab cakes arrived. They were hot and crispy with lots of crab inside & was served with a zesty aioli sauce. These were Not bad. My entrees arrived next- My daughter complained that her fettuccine was overcooked & tasted funny. She didn't finish it. I was served Chilean sea bass that was spoiled/rotten. I almost threw up upon taking the first bite. It tasted horrible. It honestly ruined my appetite. I sent it back to the kitchen and let them know it was bad. Our waitress asked if she could get me anything else but at this point I was disgusted and didn't want to eat anymore. She said she would give us a complimentary dessert for the trouble. My friend's enchiladas were not good, and her son said the pasta she ordered for him tasted funny and wouldn't eat it. We decided on lava cake for our complimentary dessert. It was also very disappointing---chalky and bitter. The dining entertainment was not good either. there is a guy that plays pre-made tracks and pretends he is playing the guitar. Being a professional musician myself-It was very confusing to watch. When we got our check I was disappointed to see that our waitress didn't remove the rotten sea bass from our bill. I feel like they should have comped us after ruining my dinner/appetite. They should have made more of an effort to make sure we left feeling positive. I still politely paid my bill and even tipped my waitress 20%. I left grossed out and disappointed. I will not be returning to the patio at chilly jillys nor will I recommend my friends or colleagues to dine there.

Barbara D.

Yelp
finally, a place where customer service remains paramount. The food is excellent... My eggs were re-cooked with no eye rolling or sighing from the waitress. She was great. Vegan options really do exist on their menu so my husband doesn't have to beg just to eat with a clear conscience. The ambience is the best in Boulder city. Live music by a wonderful guitarist.

Lydia ..

Yelp
A former coworker recommended The Patio for brunch; the fire pit at the table was a welcomed surprise, the hanging woks are an excellent rustic touch. I had friends in for the week from MI and we had brunch at The Patio on both Saturdays. Ironically, we were sat at the same table both times which was a great homage to our introduction to the restaurant. The waitresses both weekends were super friendly. Since I live in Vegas, I'm bringing all my guests to the patio for brunch .
google avatar

Myra S.

Yelp
This is the place in Boulder City for Brunch!! (Note, the patio is open for Brunch on Fri, Sat & Sun only!) The Dolemosa Swirl (Pineapple & Raspberry) was exactly what I hoped it would be!! I ordered the Special, which was a Pork Tamale Dish, and Oh My!! So Good!!
google avatar

Yelp
A Sunday drive to Boulder City and brunch on the Patio at Chilly Jilly'z is a great way to start the day. We arrived 20 minutes before our reservation time and had to wait a few minutes as their were a few people ahead of us. We were seated on the upper level of the patio. The table did not have a fire pit but was close to the guitar musician playing some great music from various movies and old standards. We ordered the Chicken and Waffle and Divorced Eggs. The Belgium waffle is served with butter & syrup and was light and delicious. The chicken breast was large and juicy. Even had some left for take home. The Divorced Eggs are 2 tortillas layered with refried beans, 2 eggs of your choice, mine were over easy & homemade red ranchero sauce on one side & pork chili verde on the other side. In the center were crispy Hash Brown potato's. The pork was fork tender and the sauce was tasty. A large and satisfying meal. Look forward to returning for dinner.

Brandy W.

Yelp
Food is absolutely overpriced. Couldn't finish my meal because it was so gross. Ambiance is okay but service was terrible. Save your money and don't go there.

Kevin F.

Yelp
My new favorite breakfast spot. Carnitas omelette was fantastic. And the atmosphere is really comfortable. It's an enclosed patio with overhead cooler. Service was prompt and friendly.
google avatar

Russ B.

Yelp
Amazing food - great service and live music! The owner is a rock star! Our kids enjoyed the waffles and chocolate chip pancakes!
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
This my first time going in and the food and service were great . I ordered the carnitas breakfast tacos and I was amazed how great it was , it was full of flavor and I I normally don't like eggs with my tacos but this taco was game changer for me . I also ordered two drinks, one being the dole whip Mimosa, which was pretty simple, but i enjoy it the patio Punch, however, was really good and I would order again . This place somehow reminded me of a beach town for moment and they even live music !!! I would recommend trying this place even once .
google avatar

Yelp
How did we not know about this place? First time there this morning and it was awesome. The 3 of us all ordered something different and we all loved our meals. From Jose's breakfast sandwich, Chile verde breakfast burrito and Divorced eggs all were delicious. Super cute place, friendly staff, fun atmosphere. Met the owner Jill, what a nice person. If you are in the area or are looking for someplace unique with great food and vibe check this place out. You will be glad you did. Can't wait to try the broasted chicken on our next visit!!!
google avatar

Keith Virrgo G.

Yelp
Need to teach your cooks not to burn all the bacon, some of us want bacon with flavor that I can chew. But they can't even cook two slices fresh.

Ron M.

Yelp
Great food, better than expected service. Great spot to take out of town guests for brunch with live music! Each table has a fire pit so when the weather gets cold it is a nice way to stay warm. Their Bloody Mary's are fantastic! Every time we have gone the staff are super friendly. Reservations are recommended.

K T.

Yelp
This is by far the GEM of Boulder City! If you are in the mood for mind blowing food, amazing service, starting at the door, including live music and cleanliness that goes above and beyond you've got to check this place out. Breakfast and brunch 8-1:30 Friday and Saturday. Dinner on Saturdays 5-9 I believe and Breakfast and brunch 8-2 on Sundays. Make a reservation for sure to be safe, but it's not a must. The food is so mind blowing! Even the bathrooms are gorgeous!! I adore the owner and the staff.. they are all so caring and kind. The staff is very friendly and the servers all make me feel welcomed. Even if there is a minimal wait when I forget to make a reservation there is still chairs and air conditioning outside. They check all the boxes here I highly recommend this spot..

Douglas H.

Yelp
Wellabout 6 months ago my wife and I had some good friends visiting from Florida. We told them how good The Patio was so we all went there to eat. We live in BC and know most oeople and restaurants. We were so disappointed in the food taste and quality as my wife took 2 bites of her meal and pushed it away. I didn't care for mine too much as well. Our friends were very disappointed as well with there meals. The staff was friendly but short on time and it took over 45 minutes to get our food. Something has changed at the Patio not the same cook or food or something but its not good. We won't be dining at this establishment again. :(
google avatar

Lyne M.

Yelp
We love this place and take our friends and family here when they visit. Breakfast is always on point. The service is quick and friendly. When the weather gets cooler is our favorite time to go.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Yes, yes I do recommend this. The seating is lovely and the food is great. I love sitting out here in the winter and even Spring time here!
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
We came here for brunch on a Friday. The restaurant was not busy, but don't let that fool you to think it isn't good! My husband had steak and eggs and I had the Carnitas egg Benedict. Oh my wow! I ate every last bit. Wasn't sure about jalapeño corn bread for my Benedict, but all the flavors meshed so well. Finished it off with a mimosa and potatoes with onions and peppers.
google avatar

Theresa C.

Yelp
We usually stop at Chilly Jillyz after riding the train but today we decided to try out The Patio next door and it's now our new favorite spot to go whenever we're in BC! Brunch was perfect with the fire pit table tops and live musician playing soothing music while we ate. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed their meals which were decently priced with large portions. My only complaint is that they have no kids menu but my toddlers were quite happy sharing a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes!
google avatar

Jamie A.

Yelp
Chilly Jilly's has amazing food! Ther shakes are pretty darn yummy too. Th fried chicken wow!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Really good food! Got the chipotle Benedict's recommended by the waitress 9/10 :) good atmosphere and old school Boulder City

Kenneth L.

Yelp
The Patio at Chilly Jillyz is a special place in Boulder City. Unique firepit settings in a large, open-feeling, enclosed room. The weekend breakfasts and brunches are terrific, but so are the weekend night-time dinners. Wonderful Italian entrees and seafood. I don't eat steaks any more but they look good. I think my most favorite Patio dinner was Shrimp and Scallops over Linguini with Vodka Cream Sauce. It may have been a du Jour Special but it was INCREDIBLE. Subtle live music and entertainment also.
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. We are here after the ride the rails. We were able to order from chilly jillyz and the patio and eat outside at the same table. Our waitress, who I believe was named Jill, was awesome as well. Dressed as Cruella ( Halloween weekend), she helped us with the menus, gave good advice on our future travels and happened to come from the town in Massachusetts that our family was originally from, definitely a small world. She's a gem! The divorced eggs might be my new favorite breakfast food, can't seem to find good breakfast like that at too many places. We will be back next time we're in town!

Anna W.

Yelp
The food is always great - even to-go (which is hard to do) ! I particularly love their breakfast options - one of the best waffles in Clark County. Thanks, Chilly Jilly'z!

James W.

Yelp
In town for a brief visit to the veteran's cemetery and decided to hit up local relatives for a bite to eat. It was a bit warm out so we decided on the patio instead of just eating outside at Chilly Jilly'z. The food was decent, the service was fine, but the reason this place gets a 3 star rating is because it was left to me to notice that for our party of 5 this restaurant added an 18% service charge. I am glad I looked because I was about to tip more than 18% on the total as on the receipt. I feel like not notifying the customer of this add on is deceitful- we will not be returning- and I doubt our local friends there will either after I showed them the receipt. Shady.
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Omg!! This is the place for an outstanding meal and ambiance. You are smart to make reservations because it is the "in place" for brunch. You can get a very generous breakfast for very reasonable prices. Plus every table has a fire pit in the middle. They are dog friendly I think and look for a short lady in pink, That's Jill!!
google avatar

Brandy S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in Boulder City. They have awesome breakfast and dinner on the weekends. For breakfast, I always get the cornbread eggs Benedict. It's delicious! Their expresso martini is amazing! The fire tables and live music make the most romantic date out. And everyone there is awesome. Danielle is my favorite waitress there. She's amazing! You have to go!
google avatar

Yelp
Here for brunch, about 9:30am on a Saturday - I think we just beat the rush. Spectacular service by Summer, and our food was awesome! We both ordered chicken and waffles and so glad we did - excellent.
